JAXB 2.0 Support in XDK

Hello,
I am looking at replacing the jaxb-impl-2.1.5.jar and jaxb-api-2.1.jar files from Sun with Oracle versions. Are there such Oracle implementations available in a new XDK, maybe not available to the general public yet?
Thanks,
Joe

HI dvohra,
I tried replacing the jaxb-impl-2.1.5.jar file with the xml.jar and xmlparserv2.jar files in the class path, but now I am getting this:

  • JAXB 2.0 : Issue with custom bindings

    I have defined an inline JAXB 2.0 customization in my schema as follows:
    <xs:annotation>
    <xs:appinfo>
    <jxb:globalBindings>
    <jxb:javaType name="int" xmlType="xs:integer"
    parseMethod="javax.xml.bind.DatatypeConverter.parseInt" printMethod="javax.xml.bind.DatatypeConverter.printInt"/>

    </jxb:globalBindings>
    </xs:appinfo>
    </xs:annotation>
    But when I compile the schema, all the elements in it defined as xs:integer are converted to Integer objects instead of a primitive int.
    An Adapter1.java file is created as follows:
    public Integer unmarshal(String value) {
    return (javax.xml.bind.DatatypeConverter.parseInt(value));
    public String marshal(Integer value) {
    return (javax.xml.bind.DatatypeConverter.printInt(value));
    I even tried using a custom binding class and defining its print and parse methods but same result.
    Why is the Adapter class created and why is the custom binding not followed?
    Can somebody help me here.

  • Marshalling with JaxB and HyperJaxb

    Hi guys,
    Can you guys help me based on what is happening below? What I don't
    understand is that HyperJaxB inserts the data fine. I only have
    this problem when pulling it out.
    In the schema, the element type is stated with minoccurs=0. It is true, that sometimes the data may or may not be present. I have also added nillable="true" to the XSD, but this doesn't seem to make a difference.
    Doing some more research on the problem, I discovered that it is
    because some of the XML types in my schema are optional. They occur
    in some documents and not others of the same type.

  • JAXB 2.0 code with JDeveloper

    I am have a JUnit test that uses JAXB. When I try to run it, JDeveloper seems to be picking up jaxb 1.0 classes - I am getting an error "Unable to locate jaxb.properties....." (jaxb 2.0 no longer uses this file).

  • XML (un)marshalling with JAXB and "any" blocks

    I have 2 very simple XSD schema's.
    SchemaA.xsd:
    [request]-------[element_A] is xs:string
    |__(ANY)
    SchemaB.xsd:
    [body]--------[element_B] is xs:string
    The any block says that there can follow any type of xml after the element_a.
    In the xsd it is coded as: <xs:any />
    I compiled both schema's with jaxb, using this command line:
    xjc SchemaA.xsd -p test.request
    xjc SchemaB.xsd -p test.body -use-runtime test.request.impl.runtime
    I created the following code :
    test.request.ObjectFactory of1 = new test.request.ObjectFactory();
    test.body.ObjectFactory of2 = new test.body.ObjectFactory();
    Request r = of1.createRequest();
    r.setElementA("testing, element one");
    Body b = of2.createBody();
    b.setElementB("testing, element two");
    r.setAny(b);
    Marshaller m = of1.createMarshaller();
    m.marshal(r,System.out);
    And the result is what I expected:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
    <request><element_a>testing, element one</element_a><body><element_b>testing, element two</element_b></body></request>
    JAXB added the xml from the second schema to the first.
    Ok, so far so good. Now I'm trying to do it the other way around, I want to unmarshall that XML to objects again:
    String xml <- contains the outputted xml from the marshall (as pasted a few lines above)
    Unmarshaller um = of1.createUnmarshaller();
    Request r2 = (Request)um.unmarshal(new ByteArrayInputStream(xml.getBytes()));
    System.err.println(r2.getElementA());
    System.err.println(r2.getAny());
    The output:
    testing, element one
    null
    now, the first message is good. The second is not however...why is the "getAny" null ? I can't figure this one out. In the best possible case it should return an object that can be cast to "Body" .
    In the worst case it should just return the "<Body> ...." xml as string. But not null ...
    Any help on this is appreciated !

  • JAXB Unmarshalling complexity

    Hello all,
    I need help on JAXB
    the situation is as below...
    i have to write a program that communicates with a server. the communication is request-response kind of communication which is to be carried out through XML.
    so everytime i have to send any request i need to create an XML and then send it to the server. i get the response in the form of XML. then i have to parse the XML to find out whats the response.
    previously i used DOM and SAX for creating XML and parsing XML respectively.
    now every response i get, i have to validate it against a DTD.
    now i'm trying out JAXB. so i first converted all the DTDs to XSD (xml schema docs). because JAXB doesn't support DTDs.
    now with JAXB, i'm creating the XML requests and sending it to the server and getting the response.
    but here is one problem.....
    as with JAXB, of i have to unmarshall the xml response i have to first create a JAXB context. and unmarshall it to that xml object that i'm expecting. but suppose i get some other response then how am i supposed to know that.
    i'll explain the above with a small example.
    suppose i have the following DTDs
    SearchRequest.dtd..............for search requests
    SearchResponse.dtd..............for search responses
    ErrorResponse.dtd.............for if the server sends any error.
    now first i convert this DTDs to XSDs and so i get
    SearchRequest.xsd, SearchResponse.xsd, ErrorResponse.xsd
    and then using the JAXB compiler i create the JAXB derived classes in the following package
    com.xyz.SearchRequest
    com.xyz.SearchResponse
    com.xyz.ErrorResponse
    now suppose i created the xml request and sent it to the server and i got the response. and i have to unmarshall it.
    (the server will send me SearchResponse.xml if everything if fine but ErrorResponse.xml it theres an error).
    now heres the problem. the server will send the SearchResponse or ErrorResponse. and ill have to determine what it is before i start to unmarshall.
    i hope i have communicated my problem....
    thankyou
    java-jones

    Not sure if this will help you or if this is what you are looking for, but from the JAXB Users' Guide:
    More About Unmarshalling
    The Unmarshaller class in the javax.xml.bind package provides the client application the ability to convert XML data into a tree of Java content objects. The unmarshal method for a schema (within a namespace) allows for any global XML element declared in the schema to be unmarshalled as the root of an instance document. The JAXBContext object allows the merging of global elements across a set of schemas (listed in the contextPath). Since each schema in the schema set can belong to distinct namespaces, the unification of schemas to an unmarshalling context should be namespace-independent. This means that a client application is able to unmarshal XML documents that are instances of any of the schemas listed in the contextPath; for example:
    JAXBContext jc = JAXBContext.newInstance( "com.acme.foo:com.acme.bar" );
    Unmarshaller u = jc.createUnmarshaller();
    FooObject fooObj = (FooObject)u.unmarshal( new File( "foo.xml" ) ); // ok
    BarObject barObj = (BarObject)u.unmarshal( new File( "bar.xml" ) ); // ok
    BazObject bazObj = (BazObject)u.unmarshal( new File( "baz.xml" ) ); // error

  • Unordered group with JAXB

    hi all
    Can any please tell me how to use <xs:all> in JAXB? I have been finding the solution to this problem for long time and I really have to give up if I can't find the answer here. Please help I need to finish my work with very limited time now.
    Or any JAXB alternaltive that supports <xs:all> and inheritance would be enough for me.
    Thanks a lot!!
    Edmond

    <xs:all> allows you to specify any number of elements in any order, so long as the number of that element is restricted to 0 or 1, i.e. minOccurs = 0, maxOccurs = 1. Once apon a time there was a debate about doing any number of any elements any number of times using <xs:all> containing various <xs:choice>
    I tried this, but could never get it to work nicely - you'd have to do lots of type casting, etc. I settled with an <xs:all> containing my own complex types, that simply contained a 1-M list inside.
    AFAIK, and you can check on this,
    ADEDDDCCAAABDBBEE is not trully supported, and really, you should try steer clear of any such spec. as it really just becomes far too messy.
