JAXB , JAXP and SAX compare

Hi,
I want to convert XML to another XML using XML Schema.
I have XML Schema for the one I will convert to.
I also need to modify some of the data.
But I am confuse which process should I use, JAXB, JAXP or SAX.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

    When to use JAXB and when to use JAXP?

    Excuse me. Is it a meaningless question?Sort of. It's kind of like asking "when to walk and when to ride the bus." Both get you where you are going but at different speeds and costs. For example, you wouldn't ride the bus to the bed to the bathroom and you probably wouldn't walk 20 miles if you can help it.
    On a side note, JAXP is a extremely painful API for building XML documents. If you can use JDOM or some other simplified API and SAX for when you on;y want to parse.

  • Difference between JAXP and XSLT?

    What actually the difference between these 2 technologies? we parse the xml document via JAXP but can we display the result in html file? why we need to parse the xml file? can cit ean example for me? sorry cause i am newbiee to web services.

    JAXP is a Java-specific layer over DOM and SAX that standardizes some things that those specs do not and makes it easier to switch between underlying XML parsers. JAXP also standardizes use of XSLT from Java. XSLT is used to transform XML documents into HTML, XML or any kind of text file. Neither of these has much to do with Web Services. JAXP can be used to create and parse the XML for SOAP messages, but other APIs can be used as well.

    Difference between DOM and SAX

    a sax parser is event driven meaning it processes the xml as it sees it and then forgets about it.
    you have to implement what you want the parser to do wants it reaches a certain event
    dom on the other hand keeps the whole structure of the message in memory as a tree.
    so there are strengths and weaknesses in both.
    you have to evaluate what you need

  • How to measure the time of evolution of a signal in a graph and to compare this time measured with a known value?

    For my application, I am obliged to measure the time of evolution of a signal acquired (from T1 to t2) by an analogical entry of a module NI 9203, and to compare this value with a value known in order to judge if this time of evolution is correct or not.
    PLEASE I prefer an example for better understanding.

    Greetings Jacob,
    I am not sure what you mean with 'time of evolution' but normally you acquire at a certain acquisition rate. How much time that has passed, you can calculate by checking how much points are between your two points of interest.
    If you are acquiring at 5Hz, the time between every point is 200ms. If there are let's say 10points between your two points of interest, 2s have passed.

  • Help setting up Aelfred and SAX for MIDP

    This relates to chapter 11 & 12 of Yu Feng book Wireless Java Programming with J2Me.
    Where exactly do you install Aelfred and Sax? What variables have to be set in the class path or what jar files have to be placed where.
    I can't compile my application because the class files that come with Aelfred can't find java.io.*; from the import Statement in the class file.
    The above class file is located in the4 SRC directory of my application.

    I've just realised that you have to manually remove some stuff from the classes such as reference to J2Se classes.
    How do you do this.

  • In testing 9 and X, "Compare Docs" we have a critical issue and really need help!

    For years we have used Acrobat 7 to do PDF compares and we love it!  However, the company recently advised we must upgrade to 9 and then eventually to X.  In testing 9 and X, Compare Docs we have a critical issue and really need help.  Our PDFs are produced by IT in a batch process and one of our main, critical functions is to compare previous PDFs to current PDFs;  however, in using 9 the Compare screen automatically sets the Doc Description for our PDFs to "Scanned Doc" and does not produce any differences! If you try to change the setting to Reports --it totally shuts down both documents without running!  Version 7 runs the compare of the same PDFs  beautifully, pointing out all the differences, as usual!  Has this every happen to anyone?  Do you know what we can do to our PDFs to allow version 9 to do the compare and produce results?  Why is 9 treating these non-scanned PDF docs as such?  Thanks so much for any help or insight you can give me on this issue!

    When I OCR two versions of the same document and then compare the documents in Acrobat Pro XI, I usually get the message that there are no changes to mark.  However, I know there a quite a few number of changes.  I raised this question more than a year ago, and the response I received had to do with the quality of the OCR and the scans of the documents.  However, if I use Acrobat Pro XI to save the same documents in Word and then run a comparison in Word all of the changes are marked.  When a PDF is saved as a Word document in Acrobat Pro XI, is a different OCR module being used than the one used in Acrobat Pro XI for text recognition?

    OCR is only for recoginition of the image / picture of text provided by an scanner.
    Content typed into a Word file which is converted to a PDF is (in Word and in PDF) *not* an image  or picture of text - it is the digital text. So, no OCR involved.
    When the "digital" (renderable) text of a PDF's page content is exported to Word no OCR is involved.
    When a PDF's content is from the image output of a scanner and this is a picture of text then OCR comes into play.
    If this content is exported to Word before doing OCR then it is the image that is exported to the Word file.
    Once OCR is performed it is the OCR output that is exported.
    OCR output is (always will be) impacted by "the quality of the OCR and the scans of the documents".
    Regardless "Compare" is based on a Word file output to PDF1 then edits to the Word file followed by an output to PDF2. You use Acrobat Pro to do a compare of PDF1 & PDF2.
    Paper 1 scanned to image 1 to image 1 in PDF1 that gets OCR 1 and
    Paper 2 scanned to image 2 to image 2 in PDF2 that gets OCR 2
    being processed with Acrobat Pro's Compare can certainly be done.
    But - well you've described what can be observed.
    Be well...

    Hi,
    IChat uses better Video Compression than Skype does.
    On a top flight Mac you can send a 640 X 480 pixel frame up to 30 frames a sec.
    Skype can't match this.
    iChat in Video is Peer to Peer. (you can actually Log out of the Buddy list)
    Skype seems to borrow something from everyone's bandwidth to make connections.
    What do you mean by Business account Tracking ?
    iChat Adds (or can add) the First Name, Last Name of your Buddies and create an Address Book Entry
    Whether you mark those cards connected with a  company is up to you.
    (I have heard of issues with earlier version of iChat and the Address Book that "saw" the Company Name as the part of the Name and linking several Screen Names to the one name
    Audio on a Mac using Skype tend to be the same as the streaming needs are less.
    However you have to rely on any PCs audio abilities from PCs which may not be to the same standard.
    Mac to PCs in iChat and AIM can be difficult though.  (It should work but it rarely as simple as Plug and go)
    Skype may suit your needs better on ocassions.

  • Sort array list and using comparable

    With the following code I would like to setup a score object for the current player.
    Change it to a string(Is it correct to say parse it to a string type)
    Then add it to the arraylist.
    So I can sort the array list according to the string size.
    That's why I have the variables in that order.
    So if 3 players have the same amount of guesses, they can be positioned on the high score list according to their gameTime.
    //create score object
                   Score currentScore = new Score(guessCount, gameTime, name);
                   String currentScoreToString = currentScore.toString();
                   //add score to arrayList
                   scores.add(currentScoreToString);So the error message says " The method add(Score) in the type arrayList <Score> is not applicable for the arguments(string)"
    Now, I understand that, I would like to know if there is another way to achieve what I am trying to do.
    Is the string idea I am trying here possible? is it practical or should I use comparable?
    I have looked at comparable, but I don't get it.
    Will my Score class implement comparable. I am looking at an example with the following code.
    Employee.java
    public class Employee implements Comparable {
        int EmpID;
        String Ename;
        double Sal;
        static int i;
        public Employee() {
            EmpID = i++;
            Ename = "dont know";
            Sal = 0.0;
        public Employee(String ename, double sal) {
            EmpID = i++;
            Ename = ename;
            Sal = sal;
        public String toString() {
            return "EmpID " + EmpID + "\n" + "Ename " + Ename + "\n" + "Sal" + Sal;
        public int compareTo(Object o1) {
            if (this.Sal == ((Employee) o1).Sal)
                return 0;
            else if ((this.Sal) > ((Employee) o1).Sal)
                return 1;
            else
                return -1;
    ComparableDemo.java
    import java.util.*;
    public class ComparableDemo{
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            List ts1 = new ArrayList();
            ts1.add(new Employee ("Tom",40000.00));
            ts1.add(new Employee ("Harry",20000.00));
            ts1.add(new Employee ("Maggie",50000.00));
            ts1.add(new Employee ("Chris",70000.00));
            Collections.sort(ts1);
            Iterator itr = ts1.iterator();
            while(itr.hasNext()){
                Object element = itr.next();
                System.out.println(element + "\n");
    }The thing I don't understand is why it returns 0, 1 or -1(does it have to do with the positioning according to the object is being compared with?)
    What if I only use currentScore in a loop which loops every time the player restarts?
    //create score object
                   Score currentScore = new Score(guessCount, gameTime, name);
                   String currentScoreToString = currentScore.toString();
                   //add score to arrayList
                   scores.add(currentScoreToString);Also why there is a method compareTo, and where is it used?
    Thanks in advance.

    I have to hand in an assignment by Friday, and all I have to do still is write a method to sort the array list. Okay, if you have to write your own sort method, then the links I provided may not be that useful. They show you how to use the sort methods provided by the core API. You COULD still implement Comparable or Comparator. It would just be your sort routine calling it rather than the built-in ones.
    You have two main tasks: 1) Write a method that determines which of a pair of items is "less than" the other, and 2) Figure out a procedure for sorting a list of items.
    The basic idea is this: When you sort, you compare pairs of items, and swap them if they're out of order. The two main parts of sorting are: 1) The rules for determining which item is "less than" another and 2) Determining which pairs of items to compare. When you implement Comparable or create a Comparator, you're doing #1--defining the rules for what makes one object of your class "less than" another. Collections.sort() and other methods in the core API will call your compare() or compareTo() method on pairs of objects to produce a sorted list.
    For instance, if you have a PersonName class that consists of firstName and lastName, then your rules might be, "Compare last names. If they're different, then whichever lastName is less indicates which PersonName object is less. If they're the same, then compare firstNames." This is exactly what we do in many real-life situations. And of course the "compare lastName" and "compare firstName" steps have their own rules, which are implemented by String's compareTo method, and which basically say, "compare char by char until there's a difference or one string runs out of chars."
    Completely independent of the rules for comparing two items is the algorithm for which items get compared and possibly swapped. So, if you have 10 Whatsits (W1 through W10) in a row, and you're asked to sort them, you might do something like this:
    Compare the current W1 to each of W2 through W10 (call the current one being compared Wn). If any of them are less than W1, swap that Wn with W1 and continue on, comparing the new W1 to W(n+1) (that is, swap them, and then compare the new first item to the next one after where you just swapped.)
    Once we reach the end of the list, the item in position 1 is the "smallest".
    Now repeat the process, comparing W2 to W3 through W10, then W3 to W4 through W10, etc. After N steps, the first N positions have the correct Whatsit.
    Do you see how the comparison rules are totally independent of the algorithm we use to determine which items to compare? You can define one set of comparison rules ("which item is less?") for Whatsits, another for Strings, another for Integers, and use the same sorting algorithm on any of those types of items, as long as you use the appropriate comparison rules.Thanks ;)

  • About JAXP and Parsers

    Hi All,
    I am very new to java and XML, your help is appriciated...
    My doubt is
    What is JAXP? is it a specification? or a parser?
    What is Xerces and relation between JAXP and other Parsers...
    Can I use JAXP API without using any parser jars(xerces etc) for parsing the XML.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JAXP
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xerces
    And no, you can't parse XML without using a parser. But Java has had an XML parser built in since Java 1.4 so you should not have to use anything outside of the standard API if you want to parse XML.

  • Can jaxp and xalan help

    hi
    i wants to create a wordprocessor. so can the jaxp and xalan help me in opening and converting files from one type to another. if you ppl know any open source word processor plz send me or if u can give me an example thanx........

    No, they can't help you.
    And if you want to find an open-source word processor, Google will do that for you.

  • Preprocessor command, assigned the variable and then compare the variable to int. How can I get around this?

    #define ON 1
    #define OFF 0
    in seperate code
    int variable = ON;
    variable is globally define for that module.
    in seperate code
    if (variable == ON)
    the complier errors off on the if (variable==ON)
    My guess variable is variable in of type int and ON is a preprocessor command. Therefore it is a mismatch and complier doesn't like it. How can I get around this.
    thank

    Mahen
    What is the exact message of the compiler?
    I think the error is, that the compiler does not find the definition of ON
    and OFF. Is it in the same source file?
    If not, try to put it into an .h file and include it where you need it.

  • What's the best logic reverb to use for trumpets and sax

    what's the best logic reverb to use for trumpets and sax.

    The lower transmit frequency limit is in there to make the device meet FCC regulations.. that is a regulation imposed of US regions and, to a lesser extent, Latin american regions that border with the US.
    In addition, you'll be pleased to know that the N900 will not use certain European WiFi channels if a) the sim card is removed or b) the phone has a sim card but is OUT of 3G coverage.. again, to make the device meet FCC regulations.. (seriously.. when you go out of 3G coverage, the kernel reports it is switching from EU wifi to US wifi!!)
    Let me put this into perspective..
    From: http://www.nokia.com/results/Nokia_results2009Q3e.pdf
    Nokia sold 3.1million handsets in the US 2009 Q3
    Nokia sold 27.1million handsets in Europe during the same period.. That is 9 times as many.
    The USA has its OWN firmware
    and yet ALL versions of the firmware (including the UK specific one) are crippled to meet the requirements of a region that produces the lowest sales figures by a factor of 3 (Latin America produced 9.7 million units in 2009Q3)
    Why the HELL are we suffering because of US restrictions..
    That's like saying you can't use bluetooth because it isn't allowed on the Christmas islands.. (it is allowed.. not picking on you, Christmas Islands, but you are small!)
    If the FCC wants a phone that doesn't allow broadcasts on sub 88Mhz frequences, and doesn't want certain Wifi channels to be used, the ALTER THE US FIRMWARE..
    What next, BMWs have with left hand steering in the UK because the US drives on the Left?
    Phillips TVs that only work on 120V because the US uses 120V..
    I don't give a **** what the FCC say.. I'm not in the US and I have my own european and UK legislation to adhere to..
    For a company that INSISTS on having a billion regional firmware versions, they don't appear to be able to get that right either!!! The UK version lacks UK specific restrictions such as the ability to us UK frequencies for wifi and FM transmission!!
    Crazy and very very irritating
