Jazn-data.xml file, authentication in web.xml and embedded oc4j

I've defined new security-roles, security-constraints and an authentication method in my web.xml file and i've created a new jazn-data.xml file that holds the different users and their groups.
If I want to link the security-roles of the web.xml file to the roles in the jazn-data.xml file I always need an orion-application.xml file, is this correct?
If I want to deploy an application as this to the embedded container the security won't work, I'm always getting the '403 forbidden' page.
Can somebody point me out how I need to define security for an embedded and standalone environment when using authentication and jazn-data.xml file + how do I deploy this to a standalone oc4j and how to get this same application to work in the embedded oc4J.

hi "romanna"
Part of the answer to "Can somebody point me out how I need to define security ..." can probably be found in the "Oracle ADF Developer's Guide" that has "18 Adding Security to an Application".

    This might help:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=696586
    As well, you might have to change the servlet-mapping in your web.xml. The url-pattern, I think, needs to be .xhtml. Your login.jsf file in the welcome list will need to be renamed to login.xhtml.

  • Validate xml file authenticity

    I am sending out a standalone player that uses an xml driven image gallery. I need to prevent changes to the xml file to stop images being added to the gallery. I can can password protect the xml file to prevent changes, but I also wondered if there was a way to validate the authenticity of the xml file from within Flash to prevent the entire file being replaced?
    Brian

    First of all, if you password encrypt the xml file, and that file is replaced, it probably is not encrypted anymore, or another key is used. That would result in an error, which should be enough to send out a warning to the user.
    As an alternative, you can use an MD5 hash. You use the original XML file to create the hash, and when you read the file the hash should be the same. I don't think that this is any safer or better than your solution. Yeah someone could decompile the movie, replace the hash, but how many of your users will have the knowledge and time to do something like this?

  • Could not read jazn-data config file

    I am using JDev 10.1.2
    When deploying my app I am receiving
    "oracle.oc4j.admin.internal.DeployerException: Cound not read jazn-data config file..." when deploying my app of OC4J 10.1.2.
    When I deploy directly to an EAR file and open the EAR file I see:
    application.xml
    data-source.xml
    blah.war
    orion-application.xml
    I belive what I should see in my EAR file is:
    META-INF
    blah.war
    And drilling down into META-INF I should see:
    application.xml
    data-source.xml
    jazn-data.xml
    orion-application.xml
    It seems that there is something that is configured incorrectly in my blah.deploy file but I can't find it. I have compared line for line with another app that creates the EAR as expected and I can successfully deploy from that application.
    Please help.

    Hi,
    the orion-application.xml file should have a content similar to this
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>
    <!DOCTYPE orion-application PUBLIC "-//Evermind//DTD J2EE Application runtime 1.2//EN" "http://xmlns.oracle.com/ias/dtds/orion-application.dtd">

    </orion-application>
    Otherwise the jazn-data.xml file cannot be found.

    My "itunes library" folder is empty.  My libray music (prior to upgrading itunes) is now in an .xml file in my itunes location under my music.  How do I extract/convert this .xml file to a Itunes database and restore my Itunes music library??? Thanks, Tom

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
    Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
    See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
    When you get it all working make a backup!

  • Best technology to navigate through a very large XML file in a web page

    Hi!
    I have a very large XML file that needs to be displayed in my web page, may be as a tree structure. Visitors should be able to go to any level depth nodes and access the children elements or text element of those nodes.
    I thought about using DOM parser with Java but dropped that idea as DOM would be stored in memory and hence its space consuming. Neither SAX works for me as every time there is a click on any of the nodes, my SAX parser parses the whole document for the node and its time consuming.
    Could anyone please tell me the best technology and best parser to be used for very large XML files?

    Thank you for your suggestion. I have a question,
    though. If I use a relational database and try to
    access it for EACH and EVERY click the user makes,
    wouldn't that take much time to populate the page with
    data?
    Isn't XML store more efficient here? Please reply me.You have the choice of reading a small number of records (10 children per element?) from a database, or parsing multiple megabytes. Reading 10 records from a database should take maybe 100 milliseconds (1/10 of a second). I have written a web application that reads several hundred records and returns them with acceptable response time, and I am no expert. To parse an XML file of many megabytes... you have already tried this, so you know how long it takes, right? If you haven't tried it then you should. It's possible to waste a lot of time considering alternatives -- the term is "analysis paralysis". Speculating on how fast something might be doesn't get you very far.

  • The format of XML file returned from web service

    I didn't quite get what the problem is but if the the desired file is in custom directory why don't you just use absolute path to reference it?
    Like: "/home/my/OSconfig/MConfig.xml"

    Hi,
    Does any one know how to specify a relative path for the temporary directory in the web.xml file.
    In the web.xml file under the jato_MultipartFormFilter filter I tried to change the name of the directory so that it reflects a relative path but it did not work. The deployment process gives the following exception:

    <init-param>
         <param-name>tempFileDirectory</param-name>
         <param-value>/home/Basil/myTemp</param-value>
    </init-param>
    Any help is greatly appreciated,

    Todd and I discussed this last night. We did not seem to have included support for automatic detection of a relative path entry. We have issued an RFE for this. There is little that we can do if the file location cannot be opened due to permission problem. If the java.io.File temp file feature does not work for your web application then I suspect this is an issue in the application server; perhaps a misconfiguration or security policy issue. If you would like to indicate a path relative to context root then we have a workaround for you. Please use the call <ServletContext>.getRealPath("/"); and then append you relative path. This is essentially what we will end up doing when we implement the RFE. regards -matt-

  • How to load XML file to table (non-XML) with SQL*Loader -- issue with nulls

    I have been attempting to use SQL*Loader to load an XML file into a "regular" Oracle table. All fields work fine, unless a null is encountered. The way that nulls are represented is shown below:
    <PAYLOAD>
    <FIELD1>ABCDEF</FIELD1>
    <FIELD2/>
    <FIELD3>123456</FIELD3>
    </PAYLOAD>
    In the above example, FIELD2 is a null field and that is the way it is presented. I have searched everywhere and have not found how I could code for this. The issue is that if FIELD2 is present, it is coded like: <FIELD2>SOMEDATA</FIELD2>, but the null is represented as <FIELD2/>. Here is a sample of the control file I am using to attempt the load -- very simplistic, but works fine when fields are present:
    load data
    infile 'testdata.xml' "str '<PAYLOAD>'"
    TRUNCATE
    into table DATA_FROM_XML
    FIELD1 ENCLOSED BY '<FIELD1>' AND '</FIELD1>',
    FIELD2 ENCLOSED BY '<FIELD2>' AND '</FIELD2>',
    FIELD3 ENCLOSED BY '<FIELD3>' AND '</FIELD3>')
    What do I need to do to account for the way that nulls are presented? I have tried everything I could glean from the web and the documentation and nothing has worked. Any help would be really appreciated.

    I hadn't even got that far. can you direct me to where the docs are to import data that is stored within xml but that you don't need any xml functionality, that just happens to be the format the data is stored in? thx
