JD3.* could connecting Oracle database 5.05 but not new version

Dear Sir,
JD3.* could connecting Oracle database 8.05 but not new version of Oracle_Database at all(8I and 9I in OTN version), but could run on Borland JBuilder.
Error message : IOException
Could you tell me, help me too.

Steve -- My guess would be that you need to upgrade your JDBC drivers for your client program. They are downloadable from OTN. I expect that JBuilder has its own JDBC drivers which are newer than what you have and that is why it does not have a problem.

You have to catch the errors, totherwise it gives you compiling errors.
include this in your program for Class.forName:

include this for DriverManager.getConnection

When I'm on the office network I can sqlplus and remote desktop to to database server, but on the VPN I can't connect with sqlplus or remote desktop, but I can tnsping.
How can this be??

Hope some of you are still following this thread.
Spoke to the network guys and they are at a loss. They say that port 1521 is allowed through the vpn and firewall.
When I try to connect over the new JUNOS PULSE SVPN, I see in the listener log file that it established connection, but I think it can't see the client after it is allocated the temp listener port?
Any suggestions please?

Installed Oracle database express edition but not can't access c: drive

I downloaded and installed oracle 10g express edition (universal) on my windows 7 64bit computer and went through the set up but I changed the default installed path to just c: drive (thinking it would create a folder by itself). After finishing the installation, my c: drive shows zero gb. When I try to open my c: drive I get a message saying "c:\ is not accessible. Access denied." All my files are there as i used folder shortcuts to access them. I tried uninstalling oracle but hit an error saying:
"This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is valid Windows installer package."
I can't install any programs or save/copy to any folder in my c: drive but I can save/copy to desktop.
Please help by any means, thanks.

This happens when you don't follow the installation guide and think you are smarter then the software.
When the installer warned you that the installation path you were choosing was not empty and asked you if you wanted to install anyway...You answered YES!
Now you lost you drive c: file system.

You should be able to use the Remote App with both, provided you set it up. Make sure the new MBP and the iPhone are connected to the +same Wi-Fi network+. On the MBP, in iTunes, make sure iTunes menu > Preferences > Devices tab has the Look for iPhone and iPod Touch Remotes checked. Then launch the Remote app on the iPhone and tap Settings > Add Library. You should see the iPhone appear in the devices list on the left in iTunes, click on the little icon under it (the one that looks like the Remote app's icon), and enter the passcode shown on the iPhone.

i have follow the following steps
1. create ms access database.
2. create system dsn.
3. make change in listener.ora.
4. make change in hs folder.
5.change the tnsname.ora.
6. lsnrctl stop and lsnrct start.
7. create database link in oracle sql*plus.
8.select the table of ms access
but i have return the foloowing error.

You can check the server and retry, or continue.
After I google it, I still have no idea how to solve the problem. I would like to ask, could anyone mind providing some hints or solution to address the issues.

I don't believe the Net8 Easy Config (NEC) will create a compatible entry in the tnsnames.ora. I have Forms 6i running successfully against a 10g Express database, but I did not use the NEC - I created the entry myself. Here is the entry I use:

- Using X/Open standards, for this
you have to make an entry of Resource manager in $TUXDIR/udataobj/RM file.
Then in UBBConfig file in GROUPS section u have to set Openinfo.
It also depend on which database you are going to use.
In your service now you need to call tpopen() API from tpsvrinit() function.
- Other possibility is, take an implicit connection using Pro*C or Pro*Cobol whatever platform you are using.

Are you using the Oracle ODBC driver? If so, which version?
Are you writing your own VB application? What API are you using-- ADO? Can you post the code that's making a connection and the exact text of the error message?

Need to Connect oracle database through EP

my requirement is trying to connect oracle database and getting values from oracle database and displaying in portal (through EP)
i created driver name called - sapdirect and import the jars like pOracle.jar in the driver and then i'll try to create datasource with the following configurations
Name : sapdsn
Aliases : sapalias
Driver name: selected whatever i created before (ex: sapdirect)
class : com.sap.portals.jdbc.oracle.OracleDriver
url : jdbc:sap:oracle://10.145.4.171:1521;RAMS
user name :scott
password :tiger
But the datasource can't create , the follwing error shown,
Please gimme Solution for this.

Go to System Administration
-> System Configuration
-> System Landscape
-> select a Folder where you want to store your system object
-> right click -> New System
-> in the wizard, select JDBC System
-> enter values
-> edit
Then fill in the correct values as stated here:

Then assign an Alias and enter some usermapping data for the system.
You then can use the ConnectorService to get a native sql connection and fire statements. I'm sure you can find some examples here.

There probably is a firewall blocking you or you are behind a NAT and the db port is not being forwarded. Anyway, you shouldn't be letting something from the internet access your database directly anyway because that just invites hackers to abuse your system. Just be glad it doesn't work and think of a better design like encapsulating the data in a web service.

I can connect the database where I use Oracle ODBC Driver. But Microsoft driver didn't work.
However, I can connect to the database where I use Microsoft driver in W2K (server side)...
