Hi,
i found some interesting message from Alexander Schröder in follow archive:
http://www.mail-archive.com/maxdb AT lists.mysql.com/msg03533.html
cut:
Hello,
you might want to look at LOCKSTATISTICS whether there are row locks
and the DELETE wants to have a tab exclusive lock on that table.
If a lot of rows needs to be locked, MaxDB may decided to lock
the complete table, which of course may wait if there are other
row locks by other sessions on that table. You may increase the
MAXLOCKS database parameter, to increase the number of possible
individual row locks.
Regards
Alexander Schröder
SAP DB, SAP Labs Berlin
that post appears to have the same scenario that i have here, then there is a way to log when a table is locked by complete? and because what if just one table is locked, no other JDBC connection can be made? for example, to query another table? appears that we have a "Connection lock" and dont a "Table lock".
anyone can help with this?
best regards.

• JDBC driver error to connect to an MS Access DB

Hi All,
We have created a file to JDBC scenario on XI 3.0. My XI server is on a Linux server and the db the receiver CC is trying to connect to is an MS Access 2007.
The CC parameters are configured as follow:
JDBC Driver: jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver
Connection: jdbc:odbc:Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=
xxxxxx\xxxxx\Test.mdb
On the communication monitoring we are getting the following error message:
Error when attempting to get processing resources: com.sap.aii.af.service.util.concurrent.ResourcePoolException: Unable to create new pooled resource: DriverManagerException: Cannot establish connection to URL 'jdbc:odbc:Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=
xxxxxx\xxxxx\Test.mdb': java.lang.NullPointerException
In regards with the above message and after reviewing several posts, I have two questions I would like to confirm with you:
a- Do I have to perform a JDBC driver deployment to connect to a MS Access DB? If so, which one.
b- Is there a suitable JDBC driver on Linux to connect to a MS Access DB? If there is not such a driver, Is there any available workaround for this?
Please, let us know your recommendations about this or what I should check to identify the cause of the above error.
Thanks and best regards

Hi All, in order to discard any possible issue between Linux and MS access connection, we are currently in the process on configuring a J2SE Plain Adapter Engine on a Windows environment. However, after configuring a JDBC receiver scenario we are getting the following error message in the adapter logs:
Classname=com.sap.aii.messaging.adapter.ModuleXMB2DB
Version=30
Mode=XMB2DB_XML
XI.httport=xxxx
XI.httpService=/db/receiver
db.jdbcDriver=sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver
db.connectionURL=jdbc:odbc:Driver={Microsoft Acces Driver (*.mdb)};=<Path to the mdb file>

Attempt to initialize JDBC adapter failed
15:50:23 (4340): JDBC adapter initialized with database error. Proceed
15:50:23 (4303): JDBC adapter listener started
Then, the Mode parameter was changed to XMB2DB and the error log is as follow:
15:36:14 (4315): ERROR: Attempt to initialize transform class com.sap.aii.messaging.adapter.Payload2DBBinding  failed with exception com.sap.aii.messaging.adapter.trans.TransformException: Error 'com.sap.aii.messaging.adapter.trans.TransformException: Error: Parameter 'db.table' missing' initializing class payload2DBBinding
15:36:14 (4304): Unable to start JDBC adapter (not initialized)
According to our scenario the required mode would be XMB2DB_XML. Could you please let us know the cause of the u201COptional feature not implementedu201D error message is?
The following data may be helpful:
OS version: Windows 2003 Server SP2

• JDBC Type 3driver can connect to different clients as well as database

Hi,
I know Core Java.COuld anyone plz explain what does "JDBC Type 3driver can connect to different clients as well as database" this mean..?

I have a little more info. I have both a Login called Custcompass and a User for the custCompass db called Custcompass. The user is mapped to the login by the same name. As an experiment, I clicked the sysadmin role on the Login and then I was able to connect. This makes me think I've got something screwed up in my permissions or my mapping of Login to User, but I have no idea where to begin (I only have Oracle experience - this is my first go w/ SQL Server).
Thanks.

• JDBC Adapter - Established database connection failed

Hi Guys,
we have installed the JDBC Adapter based on the How To Guide and we checked after the installation the  Libaries :Cluster --> Server --> Libraries --> com.sap.aii.af.jmsproviderlib and the box Box "JARs Contained" was filled.
So in my point of view we have done everything right during the installation.
Now the developer tested theJDBC Adapter and he comes back with following Error:
Attempt to establish database connection failed with SQL error com.sap.aii.adapter.jdbc.sql.DriverManagementException: Cannot establish connection to URL "jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://xxx.x.xx.xxx:1433; databaseName=CZZ03;":ClassNot FoundException: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
Do you have any ideas?

• Configtool Secure Store JDBC password - Error while connecting to DB

Hi All
I was following the note 701654 which asked to update the config tool secure store pssword. I changed the JDBC password too instead admin password alone. Now the problem is the config tool is not able to connect to the database and this lead to the jcontrol.exe to be stopped. We tried to give back the DB password we remembered unfortunately none of them worked. Please guide me to get around this.
Should I need to change the DB password if so please let me know the procedure and the places I need to do the change.
Thanks, Raj

The problem was fixed. I changed the DB password directly in the SQL server and updated it in the secure store and it worked.
Note 997510 gave a good idea on the error and the solutions.
Thanks, Raj

Hi. Remove the semicolon from your SQL string:     stmt.executeUpdate("CREATE TABLE Authorr(col1 CHAR(10))");Joe • JDBC for JDK1.1 connection with Oracle 8.0.5

I have a client running Oracle 8.0.5 on an NT machine. I have downloaded the 8.0.5 OCI8 and thin JDBC from Oracle web site.
Using the JdbcChecker.java sample code, I am unable to make a connection to the Oracle DB. I tested JDK1.1.8 with the new jdbc and also with the jdbc that originally came with Oracle (orant\jdbc\lib) but to no avail. I tested JDK1.2.2 with the 8.1.5 jdbc, also no luck. I compiled and ran the code each time, using
DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@" + database, username, password);
where database is a.b.c.d:port_no:sid
The error that came out for jdk1.1.8 was:
(after printing out 'connecting...')
java.sql.SQLException: Refused: ROR=(CODE=12505) (EMFI=4)))) ....
Is there a daemon or something that is not running? I am new to Oracle but not to jdbc. My client has used Oracle a lot but not doing any java programming with it.
What am I missing here?
Thanks.

Could you verify that the listener for the database is configured properly and that it is running?

• JDBC Receiver Adapter to connect to oracle

Hi all,
We are configuring communication channel for receiver JDBC Adapter to connect to oracle dataabase. The status is red in the Adapter monitor and it says that

I guess there is some error in the connection url....could someone give us the exact syntax of Connection url.
Regards

Hi all,
someone please clarify me. I have a datasource called "OracleDSN" in system 172.20.36.239 which has oracle client(RTPOC) in it.
So i gave my connection url as
jdbc:odbc:OracleDSN:@172.20.36.239:1521:RTPOC.
it still says that datasource name is too long..
Please help us out.

• TP3 - Generic JDBC Seems Not Working - Connection Worked in TP2 but Not TP3

I had a connection working in TP2 to a PosgreSQL database. I have done in TP3 exactly what I did in TP2 to set up the connection but the connection test fails listing the name of the driver.
I put the JAR in jdev\lib, I added a class/library to the default project properties with the classpath listing the location of the JAR including the filename, then I created a new connection with the same driver name, user/password, and JDBC URL I used in TP2. None of this worked though. I even tried restarting JDeveloper.
Any ideas on what I could be doing wrong or if something new needs to be done in TP3?
On a side note, although I got the connection working to the PostgreSQL db working in TP2, JDeveloper was never able to find its tables like when creating an entity from a table for example. I know this is not an issue with the driver JAR because this works flawlessly in Netbeans 6.
Thanks in advance for any help.
KurzHome

Hi CM and Chris,
I have the exact same problem when I tried to create a connection to SQL Server 2005 using Generic JDBC. It worked well for TP2 but does not work for TP3. Further more if you create it anyway, you will get following message in testing:
An error was encountered performing the requested operation:
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
Vendor code 0.
I tried to export the working connection from JDeveloper 10.1.2. and import it to TP3. I could not solved the problem.
Then I export the SQL server connection from TP3. The connection is expressed as
<Reference credentialStoreKey="yuwyuw" className="oracle.jdeveloper.db.adapter.DatabaseProvider" name="yuwyuw">
<Factory className="oracle.jdeveloper.db.adapter.DatabaseProviderFactory"/>
<RefAddresses>
<StringRefAddr addrType="subtype">
<Contents>thirdParty</Contents>
</StringRefAddr>
<StringRefAddr addrType="user">
<Contents>yuw</Contents>
</StringRefAddr>
<SecureRefAddr addrType="password"/>
<StringRefAddr addrType="driver">
<Contents>com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver</Contents>
</StringRefAddr>
<StringRefAddr addrType="DeployPassword">
<Contents>false</Contents>
</StringRefAddr>
<StringRefAddr addrType="customUrl">
<Contents>jdbc:sqlserver://host:1433</Contents>
</StringRefAddr>
</RefAddresses>
</Reference>
It seems DatabaseProviderFactory could not create connection other than Oracle. BBut JDev10.1.2 does not use Factory class. I tested Driver and URL by a small program that created a connection using connection string. No problem at all.
Now I have 2 questions:
1)How can we access the source code to see what happens when we submit connection creation request?
2)You mentioned that we can swap JVM version. But this can only be done on project level. Can we do it on IDE level, because IDE connection is not associated with any project.
Thanks,
wyuwyu

• Jdbc thin driver to connect oracle as internal

I need to connect to Oracle as Internal using jdbc driver, is there a way we can do this using jdbc thin driver. Actually I don't want to pass username and password as it will be harcoded in a properties file.
Please let me know.

Hi Minol,
Have a look at this code example that shows how to Connect to Database as internal ( as sysdba ). In this code sample the properties are hard-coded, you can supply these Properties by loading them from a properties file.
Connecting to Oracle Database with DBA privileges
http://myjdbc.tripod.com/basic/codeindex.html
The code snippet to load properties from a properties file
//Import IO related classes
import java.io.IOException;
// Necessary support classes
import java.util.Properties;
import java.util.Enumeration;
import java.util.ResourceBundle;
       * This method reads a properties file which is passed as
       * the parameter to it and load it into a java Properties
       * object and returns it.
       * @param file File path
       * @return Properties The properties object
       * @exception IOException if loading properties file fails
       * @since 1.0
      public static Properties loadParams(String file)
          throws IOException {
        // Loads a ResourceBundle and creates Properties from it
        Properties     prop   = new Properties();
        ResourceBundle bundle = ResourceBundle.getBundle(file);
        // Retrieve the keys and populate the properties object
        Enumeration enum = bundle.getKeys();
        String      key  = null;
        while (enum.hasMoreElements()) {
          key = (String) enum.nextElement();
          prop.put(key, bundle.getObject(key));
        return prop;

• Jdbc-odbc bridge with Connection pool datasource

I have created a little j2ee app in which an enterprise bean accesses a ms sql server table by creating a JNDI datasource using sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver. I can successfully deploy it and run it on the jsdkee 1.3 J2EE server. However, when I attempt to deploy it on WebSphere 4.0 AES, the app fails attempting to make the database connection. The error log states: "Unable to connect to database: the class (sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver) does not implement javax.sql.ConnectionPoolDatasource or javax.sql.XADatasource". Which, of course, is probably true, but is there a WebSphere workaround? There is nothing remotely related mentioned at the IBM WebSphere site.

Thx. So far, I have not found a readily accessible free alternative driver that supports connection pooling. The drivers list notes several corporate offerings that do; freetds may work but I don't know yet. If it does, I will update this discussion.

• JDBC Receiver - Muliple parallel connections?

Hi ,
          Does the Receiver JDBC adapter support multiple parallel connections to the database. Can the calls be made in parallel. If yes then where is this parameter (maximum connections) set?.
I was testing an RFC to JDBC sync scenario... My call from the RFC were in parallel (after I increased the max connections in the sender RFC).. but I did not find a similar parameter in JDBC....the db team reported that only one connection was created from Xi...

Have a look at the possible performance enhancement options at JDBC receiver:
1. You may increase the thread count for JDBC related queues. This has to be done in accordance with SAP Note 1084161.
2. There is parameter in JDBC communication channel called Maximum Concurrency. It signifies that one communication channel can make how many connections to database. This is 1 by default and could be increased to some values like 3-4.
3. In the Visual Admin/ NWA, there is a parameter called as queueParallelism.maxReceivers which defines the number of parallel worker threads for one receiver channel instance. This should be done following SAP Note 1136790. This can be done along with the first point.

• What's the URL in a JDBC-ODBC bridge driver connection?

I'm trying to use a JDBC-ODBC bridge driver but I don't know what is the URL I need to put inside a the "getConnection (String URL, String userid, String passwd)" method.
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(URL, user, passwd);
Can anybody help me?

Yes Marc,
but maybe Edgar should know that he first has to add a ODBC datasource.
in WINNT
Goto System ODBC Datasources and try to connect to your DB.
If the test is working than you can use the name you have chosen
as URL
good luck

• Jdbc hangs on first connection only

We are running a number of java applications against an Oracle 11g database. The applications are all running on disk-less machines. We are seeing weird behaviour where the first connection, and only the first connection for each application hangs.
We even see this for sqldeveloper, if you start sqldeveloper and try to make a connection, it sits there with the bar going back and forth until you click cancel, at which point every connection you attempt to make after that is fine.
We are pretty sure this has to be a problem with JDBC running on a disk-less machine. We have some ODBC applications that run fine on these disk-less machines and we can run the java applications fine on a machine with a disk that has the same architecture as the one without.
We have tried to turn on JDBC logging by using the ojdbc5_g.jar and setting oracle.jdbc.Trace=true, but have had no success, we have also tried doing it programatically by setting DriverManager.setLogger() and setting it to System.out, but haven't seen anything new.
We are using the oracle:thin driver and are running on red hat 5.0 with Java 1.5 and a 64 bit architecture, against Oracle 11g . Does anyone have any thoughts on what is going on?
Edited by: user538801 on Aug 11, 2009 12:15 PM

We found it, it was a pretty obscure issue. The JDBC getConnection() method makes a call to the random number generator. This call hangs due to the system entropy being 0 on the disk-less blades, when the JVM starts up it waits on the first call to the random number generator for the system entropy to get above a certain threshold which it doesn't do.
The solution was to use a different random number generator, by default the JVM uses/dev/random which requires sufficient entropy to seed the first call, we changed it to /dev/urandom by setting java.security.egd which is slightly less random, but does not hang on the first call.

• Config JDBC for JSP to connect to OracleDB

I use iWS6.0 and JDK1.2 to enable JSP.
To use JDBC Driver to connect to OracleDB, I simply set CLASSPATH to the location of classes12.zip, and I have tested in java command-line, it worked fine.
To let JSP work with JDBC, I edit file jvm12.conf so that the jvm.classpath to location of classes12.zip, but it doesn't work.
Could someone guide me to the solution, or some document to read.

Class.forName("COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver");Modify these lines as this, checking whtr the driver is available in the correspopnding package...
Class.forName("COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.net.DB2Driver");
i suppose that this works out well.
