[b]Config JDBC for JSP to connect to OracleDB[/b]
I use iWS6.0 and JDK1.2 to enable JSP.
To use JDBC Driver to connect to OracleDB, I simply set CLASSPATH to the location of classes12.zip, and I have tested in java command-line, it worked fine.
To let JSP work with JDBC, I edit file jvm12.conf so that the jvm.classpath to location of classes12.zip, but it doesn't work.
Could someone guide me to the solution, or some document to read.
Class.forName("COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver");Modify these lines as this, checking whtr the driver is available in the correspopnding package...

i suppose that this works out well.

JDBC for JDK1.1 connection with Oracle 8.0.5
I have a client running Oracle 8.0.5 on an NT machine. I have downloaded the 8.0.5 OCI8 and thin JDBC from Oracle web site.
Using the JdbcChecker.java sample code, I am unable to make a connection to the Oracle DB. I tested JDK1.1.8 with the new jdbc and also with the jdbc that originally came with Oracle (orant\jdbc\lib) but to no avail. I tested JDK1.2.2 with the 8.1.5 jdbc, also no luck. I compiled and ran the code each time, using
DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@" + database, username, password);
where database is a.b.c.d:port_no:sid
The error that came out for jdk1.1.8 was:
(after printing out 'connecting...')
java.sql.SQLException: Refused: ROR=(CODE=12505) (EMFI=4)))) ....
Is there a daemon or something that is not running? I am new to Oracle but not to jdbc. My client has used Oracle a lot but not doing any java programming with it.
What am I missing here?

The answer is Yes and No.
In the portal part of CE you can create a BI system with template like you did in NetWeaver 7.0. You can even transport your system created in NetWeaver 7.0 into CE.
If you plan to use Visual Composer, you'll have to create also your system in NWA.

I am facing a problem connecting to a MS Access file with JDBC in a JSP file.
I spent a whole day and simplified my code. But, I can�t still figure it out.
1. Environment: Windows XP, Tomcat 5.5, MS Access 2003
2. I set up the ODBC data sources in the control panel.
Please, check my code and error messages.
Also, do I have to modify the sever.xml file?
Do I need to make a jar file and put it into TOMCAT/config/lib ?
If yes, I would appreciate it if you let me know how to do it.

Any JDBC beans available for JSP? I know regular JDBC can be used but putting database connection logic in jsp sort of destroys its purpose. Are any beans in the works? Freeware/OSS beans?
Yes, we are working on some JDBC-based beans to facilitate database access. Ours is not available yet, not sure about other freeware.

I am able to run my java program with Microsoft JDBC driver from console (dos prompt).
But, when i am trying to run JSP program on browser using, the same driver, it is saying classNotFoundException().
do i need to set the classpath for Microsoft jdbc driver in my tomcat.bat ?

[email protected]If the driver is packed in a jar-file, you can just place the jar in the lib directory of Tomcat. If it's not, you can pack it in a jar and do the same thing:)

How to establish a trusted connection with JDBC for SQL SERVER 2000
Hi!I am using jdk 1.4 and eclipse 3.3.
I create a servlet in eclipse with in-build tomcat.
When I run it ,it was working perfectlly has it was suppose to work.
In this servlet I connect to a sql 2000 database using jdbc-odbc bridge driver.
But when I tried to deploy the servlet on tomcat 5.5 manully on the same machine ,it gave me error saying
[Microsoft][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Login failed
for user 'sa'
I searched around some post and found that ok ,I need trusted connection
But I have 2 Questions
1). Why was in eclipse I was able to connect to the SQL server and why not in the servlet which I deployed manully on tomcat.
2). How do I create a trusted connection with JDBC for SQL server 2000

I have a time capsule directly connected to fibre optic point out. All pcs and macs are connected wirelessly to the internet. I have connected a windows server pc to TC. When configured for Remote desktop connection, I can access windows server from within interanet but don't know how to access it from internet. I guess I need to change some settings in TC to get some ip adress for the remote desktop connection from my home. Anyone who can help me out? Appreciate it.

In the title you state.

Interanet is not a word I know.. I assumed intranet...are you talking about internet or intranet? And just to be clear say WAN or LAN.. !! Is your home part of the interanet??
In the first post you state,
I can access windows server from within interanet but don't know how to access it from internet.
Now this is more normal.. the issue is not in the home at all, it is accessible from there but fails from internet. If this is correct, then you can do a few obvious things to determine where the problem is.
But first I need to know are you actually testing from a different internet connection to your home lan.. you are not just trying the public IP from inside the LAN as that will fail due to the TC not doing NAT Loopback.
I am also assuming the TC is the only router in the network, and has the public IP on the WAN interface.
And I am also assuming you have turned on the ping responder and you can actually ping your public ip from the internet and get a response. This helps no end in figuring out where there are issues. Strange but I have no idea if there is a ping responder in the TC WAN so you might need to forward that as well. Also if you have a dynamic public ip address are you using dyndns or no-ip or some other service to connect.
1. Test bypassing the TC.. plug the internet connection straight into the windows server,, and test if you have access. If yes, the TC is the problem.. if not, your setup on the windows server is wrong.. look at firewall in particular.
2. Assuming from test 1 the TC is the problem, Post the screen shots of the port forwarding setup for us to look at.. that is by far the easiest way to check it out.
There are lots of references to port forwarding in the TC.. eg

The things that generally go wrong are firewall on the computer that is accepting the port.
The ISP doesn't allow connections on a particular port. (not likely in your case)
The router is behind another router.. double NAT will kill any port forward.
Upnp has already allocated a port.. not an issue as TC doesn't use upnp although a reboot of everything after you set port forwards is well worth it.. amazing how things don't stick properly without a reboot.
IP on the receiving device is not static and so changes.
Not enough or right type of ports are opened. This is always messier than it looks as one port is often not enough for two way communications. -
Unable to compile class for JSP

In my db,there is a table called UserPassword, which has 4
fields(empNo,UserName,password,level). Now I want to do these things:
When the user submits the data to create a new account via HTML form, it submits the data to the file called CreateAcc.jsp. In this file it perform some logic,here are they.
1)To check the empNo,if it is already exist in the DB,
if empNo =exist then display error.(record already exist)
if empNo =notexist then do task 2).
2)check the UserName,if it is already exist in the db,
if UserName=exist then display error.(because it's a primary key)
if UserName=notexist then do task 3).
3)Create a new user account and save it to the db.
To do these tasks,I never create a new objects for the tasks 1) and 2).
only for task 3)create an object.

I'm trying to build a JSP web application with Apache Tomcat 4.0 on Linux, using PostgreSQL database.
The test page for building a connection to the database is very simple.
However, unfortunately, I always get the following error message from the web server.

I have another Tomcat server working on Window2000 with Oracle. So I change the JDBC driver to Oracle on that machine, and it works fine.
I guessed I might have some problem with the Tomcat setting, but I'm not sure what I need to change.
The directory of my web application is built under the webapps.
And I've added JAVA_HOME, JAVA_HOME/lib/tool.jar, and JDBC for PostgreSQL to my CLASSPATH.
Is there any other configuration that I missed?
Please help if you see the problem.

I am new to java, jsp, and jdbc. My programming expirence is in vb, and asp. When I would connect to a database using asp, I would create a file with my database connection string and then included it into every asp page that needed a database connnection. That way I could switch my databases much easier.
Now I am designing jsp's with jdbc connection. I have been making a connection to my database on every page. Could I use a similar approach in my jsp to connect to my database? Can I include a jsp file with my data connection on every file? Should I use a java bean? Are there any good examples out there?

BradI was in exactly the same situation about 3 years ago and I made a lot of mistakes trying to mimic the VB/ASP way of producing websites. My first suggestion is to forget the way you used to do it with includes.
It's one of those things that will come with experience, but I would suggest that you start by writing all of your data access code in Classes. Then write business logic Classes that use the data access Classes to get the data. Then think about how to present the information the business logic returns to you.
But don't, I can't say this enough, don't, get into the habit of using includes for dynamic content. You will regret it further down the line when you have to maintain your website.
Spend the time now understanding the idea behind the 3 tier architecture and you will thank yourself for it later.
