JDBC query against Sybase through jConnect5.5 in Oracle 9i Reports Builder

Hi There,
I am trying to connect to Sybase using JDBC query using jConnect55 driver.
I am not able to do so. I get an error:
ERR 62002: Failed to connect to the datasource JZ0D5 JZ0D5: Error loading protocol com.sybase.jdbc2//255.255.255.255//255.255.255.255
Driver entry in my jdbcpds.conf file is
<driver name ="jConnect55"
subProtocol ="sybase"
connectString ="mainProtocol:subProtocol://databaseName"
class = "com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybDriver"
connection = "oracle.reports.plugin.datasource.jdbcpds.JDBCConnectionHandling" loginTimeout = "0">
<property name="DatabaseName" value="tempdb"/>
</driver>
The entry I make in jdbc query connection dialog box is as under:
User Name:test
password:secret
Databse: 255.255.255.255:9999/tempdb
Driver Type: jConnect55
Can you point me where I am wrong?
Thanks in advance

Hi Sachin,
I too, got through the issue. Sorry am bit late in updating you. But still I would say it is not on consistent(my feedback as per I grabbed from the behavior. Say, I accepted the query in a particular order of WHERE clause, then If I change the order it will throw an error message saying "Incorrect syntax".)
Anyway working fine. Thanks for your immediate response with useful hints.

Hi Anand,
Yes, JDBCPDS accepts all Select queries which follows SQL Specification.
It would be a valid query as per the database used.
Please try again, Bind parameters can be placed in any or all of the conditions of SQL Query in JDBCPDS.
I am able to use them in both the cases you told.

  • JDBC query with Sybase database

    Hi Folks,
    I am working with Oracle 9i Reports Builder connecting to Sybase database using jdbc-odbc driver type.
    I could connect to the database, use a simple query and generate reports.
    Problem is only when, I use a variable in WHERE clause and have
    1. group functions in SELECT statements (i.e. sum(), count()..)
    2. NOT IN operations in one of conditions
    Error message was thrown saying "Incorrect Syntax near ':.' "
    (I declare a variable in USER PARAMETER and use the same in WHERE clause by refering say "where trandate=:m_trandate".)
    Though there is no syntax error AT ALL. Am very sure about it, because when I execute the same statement in "isql" , it works perfectly.
    Can anyone, let me know whether Is it a limitation on Report Builder with Sybase db or Is any configuration do I miss??
    Also, let me know if there is any work around process to handle this situation.
    Sample Query I tried :
    select item, avg(rate) from inventory
    where item=:mitem /* mitem is a variable */
    group by item
    Any information is welcome.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Use css file in oracle 10g report builder

    hi every one
    i am using oracle 10g report buidler. i want control paramform by usign css file.
    any body have idea how can i use css file in oracle report builder 10g and how can i modify it's path and i how can i manage any css class on a perticular field.

    Thanks Billy.
    Yes you are right.
    Here why I discarded that option is,
    I may get the source files with changing layouts.
    My Actual scenario is as follows.
    Initially we developped all the things using PL/SQL packages. Its working fine.
    But as per the inputs we received from requirements group, the file structure changes dynamically. and we would able to consider those new columns also. We should be able to changes the rules dynamically.
    Lets say, we doing fullouter join on Src_A and Src_B. on columns col1_A and col1_B.
    Now the requirement changes in a way that, the join should be done on Src_A and Src_C. on columns col1_A and col_C.
    For this I need to define a new package.
    Instead of that, I would like to do everything dynamically based on configuration parameters given as input.
    Thank you,

  • Jdbc slow on sybase on solaris

    Hi there,
    I have a very simple query which selects all the rows from a very large table (50,000,000 rows).
    When I execute this query using ISQL on a remote client, the results come back relatively quickly (~5 seconds for 100,000 rows). When I execute the same query using JDBC it takes approximately 2 minutes to return each 100,000 rows.
    I don't experience this problem running against Sybase on Linux or Oracle.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Yes, I have a stripped down test program and it does create objects for the results; however, the same code runs very quickly if I run against Sybase on Linux. I have logging which tells me how long it takes to iterate over the results... Here is the code...
    Thanks for any insights you might have about this.

                   connection.setTransactionIsolation(Connection.TRANSACTION_READ_UNCOMMITTED);

  • JDBC Query Single Row service Parse Query

    Using JDBC Query Single Row service on an Oracle database,
    I specify a SQL statement like this:
    select abc, to_char(aDate, 'MM/DD/YYYY') from xyz where def = 123
    then I click the "Parse Query" button to try to map the query results to my variables, but the mapping window gives me 3 fields instead of 2:
    1. abc
    2. to_char(aDate)
    3. 'MM/DD/YYYY'
    how do I let it understand that there are only 2 fields in the results so that I can map it properly?
    thanks

    Got a new minor issue unrelated to the above, but I don't want to flood this forum with another new topic, so I'll stick this new thing here.
    I have a very simple process that only contains this JDBC Query Single Row service.
    In this query single row service, at the bottom of the property sheet, there's a section where it says "number of rows retrieved"...
    now, if I map this 'number of rows' to a variable (I set the variable's type as "int"), when I call my process (as a web service), it returns me nothing... all the output parameters are empty.
    If I remove the mapping of "number of rows", that is, there's nothing in that bottom section. Then my process works correctly, all the output variables contain correct data from my database.
    Has anybody encountered this? what's your solution please?

  • Regarding T Bar in Oracle 10g Reports

    Hi,
         We have the requirement to generate line graph report to meet the following requirement.
         The graph must be draw 4 horizontal lines.
         In these 4 lines, two lines displayed in the top and two lines in the bottom.
    The bottom two horizontal lines should be drawn along with vertical lines(T bars ) for      every x values.
         This graph is actually a combination graph which have both horizontal lines and T Bars.
         We have been recommended to use Oracle 10G Report builder to build this kind of report.
         We tried all the option available in the reporting tool, we could not able to represent T bars.
         Is it possible to generate report with T bars using Oracle 10G

    Hi mujb,
    Per my understanding you are using the report builder 3.0 to design the report and when you click the query designer button to execute the query you got the error message above, right?
    I have tested on my local envornment and your issue can be caused by the user "SQLServer2014\Mubs"  and "mujb-HP\mujb"  haven't grant permission to the report server or the shared dataeource/dataset if you have used this.
    I would like to confirm if you have assigned both the Item-Level and System-Level role of the user above to sucessfully access the report server, If you haven't grant any access to the above user and when you connect to the report server in the report builder,
    you may got the error message:
    More details information below for your reference:
    Please execute the query in the microsoft SQL Server Management Studio to see if you have permission to execute the query.
    If the query works fine in step1, please run the report builder as Administrator and if you are using the shared datasource/dataset the issue can be cause by the you haven't grant access the share datasource, Double click to open the Datasource
    and click the "Test Connection" as below to test if it can connect successfully:
    If the "Test Connection" failed, please click the shared datasource/dataset on Report Server to check if you have grant correct permission.

  • SQL query against tables on MS SQL Server and Oracle using Oracle BI

    Hi All
    I have two databases Oracle and MS SQL Server. I want to write a query statement which will retrieve data from both databases and publish this data into one report. That is I want to join/merge data from tables in both database into one report with one SQL Statement something like:
    Select o.F1,o.F2, m.F1,m.F2
    from
    table@oracleServer o,
    table@microsoftSQLServer m
    where o.F1=m.F1;
    Can Oracle BI Publisher do this?
    Basically I want to query simultaneously two heterogeneous data sources in one SQL statement. Is there such a tool? I don't want to build a warehouse by moving data from SQL Server into Oracle or vice-versa. I don't want to duplicate data. I want to be able to query data at its source via 1 SQL statement.
    How would one go about doing such a thing?
    Many Thanks
    Kubilay.

    Hi Matt and Thomas
    Many thanks for your replies.
    Yes I have to do the join. Even worse I have to write an Aggregate query like this!
    Select o.F1,o.F2, m.F1,m.F2, count(*)
    from
    table@oracleServer o,
    table@microsoftSQLServer m
    where o.F1=m.F1
    group by o.F1,o.F2, m.F1,m.F2;
    These are 2 different systems (hardware & software) which actually do the same job, they produce transactions for a common business entity. Kind of, both sell tickets for the same ABC ferry company.
    I can not put them side by side on the dashboard, as I need to aggregate the data and present it maybe in a Oracle BI Report for Accounting and Financial reconciliation purposes.
    The truth is, as it is. I can't change it, is too late.
    I have to device a way to harvest both systems as they are. I don't want to move around data. I thought looking at Oracle BI I could write SQL against multiple Data Sources. I am struggling to find a way. As it seems that it can "SQL query" 1 data source at a time.
    I have been hinted on another forum (OracleTURK) to use Oracle Transparent Gateways and Generic Connectivity. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14232/toc.htm
    Shame, I have to pay licenses for OWB and Oracle Transparent Gateways. I thought DB vendors can do better. Why do I have to pay to access the other 50% of the market.
    I can understand the performance implications this might have. Because of it I might even be forced at the end to move data (ETL) into a separate database, slice it into partitions and manage it that way. Pitty because currenlty I only need one report out of these systems but seems like will be dear to get.
    Thank you for all your help.

    It looks like the type of thing the SMON would run to clear up temporary segments after a process has done a rebuild, move, drop or similar. One reason why it might be slow is if you have a very large number of objects in a given tablespace that is subject to a lot of drops, creates etc. (E.g. a tablespace holding a complicated composite partitioned object with lots of indexes that goes through a frequent cycle of add/drop partition).

  • Linking Access tables, creating a query with using both Access and Oracle

    Hello,
    I am using 3.0.04.34 version Oracle Developer. I am supposed to create a script/procedure to use both Access tables and oracle tables together. There is an option in developer to copy the access tables into oracle. But it doesn't help me. Because when we updated the access tables
    the copied ones are not be updated. How can I created a linked access tables to oracle and create a query with using both access and oracle table together.
    I will appreciate if you guys help me. I look forward to hearing from you guys.
    Thanks,
    Pinar

    Pinar,
    to be able to query MS Access tables in Oracle you need an additional product, the Oracle Database Gateway for ODBC. It allows you to link any foreign database into an Oracle database using a suitable ODBC driver. You can then access the MS Access tables through a database link based on the Database Gateway for ODBC. This will also allow you to join local Oracle and remote MS Access tables from your Oracle database.
    There's a note on My Oracle Support which gives you more details:Document 233876.1 Options for Connecting to Foreign Data Stores and Non-Oracle Databases - For example - DB2, SQL*Server, Sybase, Informix, Teradata, MySQL

  • Sdo_filter fail when query against a spatial view in different schema

    We have a table with X,Y coordinates and would like to run spatial query against it. We do not want to change the table structure, so we opt to use a function based index. USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA is updated and index is built. Then we created a view with spatial column from the table. Everything works fine with the user who owns the table and view.
    When we try to run a spatial query against the view from a different user, it failed with error. However, if we substitute the select from my_view* with the actual SQL statement that created the view, it works. So it looks like Oracle refuse to acknowledge the spatial index if accessed via view. ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.MD", line 1723
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.MDERR", line 8
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_3GL", line 1173
    13226. 00000 - "interface not supported without a spatial index"
    *Cause:    The geometry table does not have a spatial index.
    *Action:   Verify that the geometry table referenced in the spatial operator
    has a spatial index on it.
    Note, the SELECT SHAPE FROM (****) A WHERE SDO_FILTER(....) syntax is a third party application, all we have control is the part inside "(select ...)".
    So it appears Oracle is treating view differently. Have attempted fake the view name into USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA, did not work. Also, granted select on the index table to user2, did not work.
    if we re-created the view in user2 schema, it worked for user2 but not user1, so it's not something we can do for every user.
    Searched the forum, no good match found. A few posts talked about "union all" in view caused the problem but I do not have the union.
    We are only use Oracle 10g Locator, not full spatial edition.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    It seems a bug, where a function-based spatial index is not correctly handled in a view query transformation.
    Not sure if the following works for you or not.
    add a new column "shape" (mdsys.sdo_geometry) in table locations, use a trigger and x_coord/y_coord
    to set values for this new column, and just create a normal spatial index on this new column. (drop the
    function-based spatial index). And create a view like:
    CREATE VIEW USER1.MY_VIEW2 AS SELECT ID , X_COORD, Y_COORD, SHAPE
    FROM USER1.LOCATIONS WHERE X_COORD>0 AND Y_COORD>0;
