JDBC - Sybase Connectivity Issue

I'm a Java beginner.When using the java JDBC i'm experiencing the following issues
Connection string used - jdbc:sybase:Tds:<Serverip>:<ServerPort>
Driver File - com.sybase.Jdbc2.Jdbc.SybDriver
Initially when i tried using these values i'm able to establish the database connection.But recently i changed the machine name.I'm using the same machine for both Database and Java.After the machine name changes i'm getting the following error
SQLException:Jz006:caught IOException:java.net.connect Exception.
Please help me...

Just rename back the host. Do it work?
See [http://tmaj.pathology.jhmi.edu/doc/manual/FAQs.html#DATABASE_TROUBLESHOOTING]
I found somewhere that
Note: The following exception occurs when you click Test Connection to connect a Sybase data source from the administrative console.
Test connection failed for data source isagent on server server1 at node
svtaix24Node01 with the following exception: java.lang.Exception:
java.sql.SQLException: JZ006: Caught IOException: java.net.ConnectException: A
remote host refused an attempted connect operation.DSRA0010E: SQL State = JZ006,
Error Code = 0
This exception occurs when the Sybase data source port number is not matched to the port configured in Sybase server.
The default port number is 5000.
Check the port number of your Sybase server in the interfaces file under /<sybase install directory>.

  • Sybase  Connectivity Issues with OC4J Server

    I am trying to access a Sybase Database using JDeveloper.
    I have downloaded the sybase Jconnect product(version 5.5) and am able to access the database through the IDE.
    I have created a test jspx document to validate the DB connectivity. When I attempt to run the document. I am getting the following error from the OC4J server: javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Unable to get connection, DataSource invalid: "java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver".
    The document code is as follows:
    <sql:setDataSource
    dataSource="AgileSCM"
    driver="com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybDriver"
    password="password"
    url="jdbc:sybase:Tds:server_name:4002/db_name"
    user="uer_name" var="myDs"
    scope="session"/>
    <sql:query var="company" dataSource="myDs">
    SELECT * FROM dbo.company
    </sql:query>
    I am new to using Jdeveloper so I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks,
    Brian Muraco

    I created a db connection called AgileSCM in JDeveloper which is accessing the Sybase database. I tried coding the document with and with out specifying the datasource with the same result. Am I not doing something really simple?

  • Oracle 8i jdbc/Tomcat connection issues

    Tomcat 4.1.8
    Oracle 8i JDBC Driver
    I have been able to create the DataSource as a global resource and as a local resource inside the context of the application.
    The code hangs when it attempts to create a connection. I have been able to connect to the database and perform the necessary query in a standalone application to ensure that I actually can connect.
    JSP Code:
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>VTW App</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <%
    vtw.VTWApp tst = new vtw.VTWApp();
    tst.init();
    %>
    <h2>Results</h2>
    <%= tst.getList() %>
    </body>
    </html>
    Java Code (Class called by JSP):
    package vtw;
    import javax.naming.*;
    import javax.sql.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class VTWApp {
    String list = "EMPTY";
    public void init() {
    try{
    Context ctx = new InitialContext();
    if(ctx == null )
    throw new Exception("Boom - No Context");
    System.out.println("Context Created ...");
    DataSource ds =
    (DataSource)ctx.lookup(
    "java:comp/env/jdbc/oracleDB");
    if (ds != null) {
              System.out.println("DataSource Created ...");
    Connection conn = ds.getConnection();
    System.out.println("Connection Pulled");
    if(conn != null) {
                   System.out.println("Connection Good");
                   Statement st = conn.createStatement();
                   String query = "";
                   query += "select grpid, to_char(min(dtlastendtime),'mm-dd-yyyy hh24:mi:ss') ";
                   query += "from calc_table where equipmentsernum in (";
                   query += "'888000','888001'";
                   query += ") group by grpid";
                   ResultSet rs = st.executeQuery(query);
                   if(rs != null) {
                        list = "";
                        while(rs.next()) {
                             list += (rs.getString(1) + "," + rs.getString(2));
                   rs.close();
                   conn.close();

                   System.out.println("Connection Not Established");
    }catch(Exception e) {

    }

    I figured out the issue ...
    In the server.xml file the resource & resource params needed to be modified..
    1. Set type to oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource
    2. Set factory to oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSourceFactory
    3. In the Java code cast the context lookup to an OracleDataSource instead of a java.sql.DataSource
    Oracles DataSource does not subclass the jdbc DataSource for its OracleDataSource class everything works fine now.

  • JDBC Adapter Connection Issue

    Hi Experts,
    The scenario is file to JDBC, the messages are getting failed in XI MDT with the following error "JDBC Message processing failed ,reason when attempting to get processing resources: com.sap.aii.af.service.utill.concurrent.ResourcePoolException: Unable to create new pooled resource: DriverManagerException: Cannot establish connection to URL<JDBC Connection details maintained in CC>: SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection".
    We got this error after changing the IP addreass of the Oralce system. we did maintained in all the communication channels with new IP Address, previously the data is updating to the Oralce table with old IP addreass.
    IP address is also maintained in XI Host file. We are able to ping the Oralce from XI with new IP.
    Can any body suggest how to rectify the issue.
    Thanks in Advance
    Bhaskar

    Hi,
    have you checked cache status. It is possbile that the change hasn't been applied yet. That would explain, why the database can't be reached.
    Stop/Start of communication channel might also help. Sometimes it si necessary to restart the whole JDBC Adapter.
    If all this fails, you should get yourself a free copy of DBVisualizer, use the same database driver as is installed on PI, provide credentials and try to reach database. Might also be a driver issue.

  • Sybase connectivity issue

    Hi,
    we have installed MII 14.0 with latest version of sybase DB has backend. While Configuring data server connection with Sybase database its showing stopped status.
    So please let me know where i did wrong. Below are the parameters details which i have mentioned for connection.
    User name: User
    Passwrd: Pass
    JDBC Driver: net.sybase.jtds.jdbc.Driver
    Server URL: jdbc:jtds:sybase://<IP Address>:<Port>/<Server Name>
    Validation query: SELECT count(*) FROM dbo.sysobjects
    Even i have deployed JDBC Driver(i.e.jtds-1.3.1 ) and its showing in green color.
    With the same driver and setting we were able to connect to Sybase dev system. Now we are getting status as Error.
    In log files we are getting error message as "Io exception connection refused".Even I tried to connect with oracle developer front end tool and got connected to dev sybase but not prod sybase , got same error.
    MII and sybase are sitting on same machine.
    MII and front end sitting on different machine
    Can anybody tell me where I am doing wrong.
    Regards,
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
    I guess you are getting the error might be for the validation query. Validation query should be something which all users will have access to. So SELECT count(*) FROM dbo.sysobjects will not work for all the users or roles. You can use the validation query as "select getdate()". It will work errespective of any user or role. For reference you can check it also.

  • Jdbc odbc connectivity issue

    I have made one system dsn ...in some folder..then in my jsp page my
    Class.forName ("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver").newInstance();
    Connection myConn = DriverManager.getConnection."jdbc:odbc:Employee");im getting error like no data source...and its finding in root directory like c:/document seting etc etc ..not where my db lies
    if i put my db in root directory .then code wrks fine..but is it taking that root directory

    well well the code would not consider nothing here the microsoft native bridge driver has to find appropriate database.
    Are you sure u have created an entry in Odbc Data Source Administrator --> System DSN -> and you have a name called "Employee" out their pointing to appropriate database which you are trying to connect.

    Please guide me how to solve this error message. is it version incompatible now?
    Thanks
    Rocky

    Hi,
    You are now making the connection to the Sybase database but there is a problem with the user and password used in the database link.
    Sybase is case sensitive for names so you need to surround the user/password in double quotes to make sure they are passed to Sybase in the correct case -
    create database link ind_test connect to "sybuser" identified by "sybpass" using 'tnsnames_ora_entry' ;
    where sybuser is the userid as created in Sybase with the password sybpass.
    If they were setup in Sybase in mixed case then it would be -
    create database link ind_test connect to "Sybuser" identified by "Sybpass" using 'tnsnames_ora_entry' ;

    Mike

  • Connection issues with Oracle-JDBC

    Using the Universe Design Tool in BOE 4.4 to create an Oracle-JDBC connection.
    Issue:  Test Connection fails for JDBC connection to production Oracle database.
    Getting error:
    “DBD: ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
    ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
    IBM AIX RISC System/6000 Error: 2: No such file or directory”
    Things to note:
    There are three entries in the tnsnames.ora file (a prod entry, a dev entry and a test entry).  I can successfully create the JDBC connections for the test and dev entries, but not prod.
    I can go to Designer in another server (our BOE 3.5 server in a different environment) and create all three Oracle-JDBC connections.
    The Oracle middleware is the same between the two servers (11g) and the tnsnames.ora files are identical.
    The prod database is up (it would definitely be known if it were down).
    Very confused on this one.  Any help would be appreciated.

    It appears that the SAP tool “Universe Design Tool” wants to have a fully qualified (host.parent domain.org) Net Service name for this particular connection as I was able to successfully JDBC connect to our production Oracle database.  The other two databases didn't need it and the Oracle SQL Developer (which uses JDBC for connections) didn’t need a fully qualified name for our production server either.  In any case, it appears to be working now.

    GO
    CREATE LOGIN [aliuser1] WITH PASSWORD=N'mypass', DEFAULT_DATABASE=[alidb], CHECK_EXPIRATION=OFF, CHECK_POLICY=OFF
    GO
    EXEC master..sp_addsrvrolemember @loginame = N'aliuser1', @rolename = N'sysadmin'
    EXEC aliuser1..sp_addsrvrolemember @loginame = N'aliuser1', @rolename = N'sysadmin'
    If thats wrong or if i missed any steps, Can anyone walkthorugh me the steps to create database user?
    My present configuration manager settings for portal database:

    failure: FATAL: PortalObjectsFactory Initialization Failure (Java)
    recommendation: RECOMMENDATION: Review the exception listed below for
    details. Since OpenKernel initialized correctly, this usually
    means that the portal database is not scripted or properly
    configured, or there is an installation problem related to JAR
    files. This may also mean the search libraries are not on your
    PATH or LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Try running ptverify.
    exception: OKConfigException
    OpenKernel configuration failure. This usually means INVALID
    DATABASE SETTINGS. Run ptconfig to verify your database
    connection. If this fails, check the web application server
    user's access rights to the file system. Finally, verify the
    XML settings files are not corrupt.

  • Sybase ASE & BODS connectivity issue

    Datastore creation give server not found error with Sybase ASE.
    Unable to create a data store when use Sybase ASE database Tried different combination of DB Server name like server name, server name + port number, IP, & IP + port number. It giving me same error all the time..
    Tested connection is ODBC it work fine but same config from same server it gives me following error....
    Can you help us my your valuable comment on this issue..
    WARNING: Cannot establish database connection.
    'Sybase connection error: <Sybase CS Library message number
    <101188867> Serevity <5>: Message Text is ct_connect():
    directory service layer: internal directory control layer error:
    Requested server name not found>' <BODI-1111341)
    Do you want to save this datastore anyway?
    Thanks

    The following is the result of quite a bit of trial-and-error on a contract in Miami a couple of months ago.
    If you don't already have it, you need to obtain and install Sybase's "PC Client," aka "Adaptive Server Enterprise PC Client".  In my case, I used ver. 15.7.  This software gets installed on the DS job servers. You may want it on your local workstation, too, to be able to roam around in the ASE's data.
    In Data Services, I assume you've created a datastore using DS's native ASE driver.  (I.e., don't use ODBC.)
    Find and run the "Open Client Directory Service Editor," one of a slew of gizmos which comes w/ the PC Client.
    Pick "Interfaces Driver" (likely the only thing you can pick).  You'll get a blank, intimidating-looking "DSEDIT1" window.
    Right-click in the "Server" pane on the left and select "Add...".
    For the "Server Name," I think it's likely safest & sanest to just use the host name of the server, and suggest you use that.
    Then, you'll have the server you added, on the left, and a grid of attribute-and-value pairs on the right.  Modify the Server Address, and you'll get a "Network Address Attribute" window. Click "Add".  Select "TCP" as the protocol, and enter the address in the format "hostname, port", as in this example:
    asehost1.somecompany.com, 10100
    ASE listens on port 10100 by default, I think, but your system may be elsewhere. For me, the DS datastore then worked just fine.
    Good luck!

  • Sybase connectivity

    Hi all,
    I have some troubles with the deployment process of the jdbc datasource.
    I used an evaluation version of the DataDirect JDBC drivers to connect a Sybase database. Following the process stated on the tutorials I configured a new Server Type and a new DataSource. All was working fine: the connection was alive, the tables and columns were showing up and I was able to bind a result set to an object on a jsp page.
    When I deployed the first time the simple application I got a runtime exception saying "Error in allocationg a connection. Cause:null".
    Lookin deeper in the application server definitions through the admin tool, I discovered that the JDBC Connection Pool definition, deployed by the Sun Java Studio Creator, had something wrong. The ping button said "An error has occurred. Operation 'pingConnectionPool' failed in 'resources' Config Mbean".
    On the page "Edit Connection Pool" the entry "Data Source Class Name" was filled with the Driver class name (com.ddtek.jdbc.sybase.SybaseDriver instead of com.ddtek.jdbcx.sybase.SybaseDataSource). I can understand this because during the definition of the datasource nobody asked me the data source class name and I suppose that the deployment program can't guess by itself the correct class name.
    Using the admin tool I changed the entries on the Edit Connection Pool page to the correct class name, adding the properties serverName and portNumber too. With these definitions I got a successful ping.
    Unfortunately I did'nt reach the target because the application is still not working. The exception handler shows the following message: "java.sql.SQLException: Error in allocating a connection. Cause: No PasswordCredential found".
    Can anybody help me?

    Looks like you might be using blank password to connect to your Sybase database. Creator IDE data sourcesare configured as connection pools when deploying to the bundled AppServer. We have a known issue that the AppServer fails to connect to connection pools with blank passwords. Try with non-blank password and confirm if it works.
