JDev 10.1.2 and Spring 1.2.3: Incredibly slow OC4J startup

I have JDev 10.1.2 which runs many non-Spring apps in the embedded OC4J without incident.
But after an app that uses Spring Framework 1.2.2 or 1.2.3 is added to a Workspace, attempting to run any application, spring-using or not, in that workspace results in an incredibly long startup time for OC4J, typically 160-220 seconds during which JDeveloper becomes unresponsive and the CPU use rises to 100%.
After JDeveloper becomes responsive again, here are the displayed contents of the OC4J server window:
[Starting OC4J using the following ports: HTTP=65001, RMI=65002, JMS=65003.]

05/09/01 12:25:38 Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.2.0.0) initialized
This problem occurs using JDev 10.1.2 on several workstations. One workstation is FC4, the others are WinXP. We are using j2sdk1.4.2_07 to compile/run on FC4 and the bundled 1.4.2_04 on Windows.
Once the OC4J is started, JDeveloper and applications appear to work fine with no noticable differences in speed. Also, once deployed to an Oracle App Server 10g (w/OC4J 10.1.2), there is no noticable difference in startup time for applications on that server.
Again, I would emphasize that the problem affects all applications in the workspace, not just the one that uses Spring. And if I remove the Spring application from the workspace, OC4J starts quickly again for the other applications. Also, running applications in a one workspace is not impacted by a Spring app in a different workspace.
Any ideas?

Use Oracle JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 that has both EJB 3.0 and Portlet development support.
JDev 10.1.2 doesn't support JDK 5.0 out of the box so you'll probably have problems with the annotations of EJB 3.0.

    I have recently downloaded OSX Mountain Lion and my computer is running considerably slower? Anyone have any suggestions?

    It will run slow for a few hours as the new install will index your entire hard disk(s), as well as do a complete Time Machine backup if you're using that. Click on the Spotlight icon on the top right of your screen. Is there a progress bar that says its indexing (and if you're using Time Machine, is the TM icon in the menubar spinning)? If so, just wait for those to complete and things should be back to normal.
    Also be sure to run Software Update and manually update any 3rd party apps, many of which may not work correctly under Mountain Lion and could cause slowdowns.

  • EJB 3.0 and Spring

    Hi I have created a new EJB 3.0 project using NetBeans that I am deploying to Sun Application Server 9.1. I would like to use Spring with this project. I have used Spring in the past with Web Applications and know how to configure Spring to load the ApplicationContext.xml on startup by specifying the ContextLoaderListener in the Web.xml.
    Is there a similar way I can configure Spring to load when the Application Server starts and loads the EAR. I don't have a WAR file for this project so can't use the ContextLoaderListener.
    Thanks for you help.
    Jim

    I would like to call your attention to the fact that building a Spring ApplicationContext is not only through the spring configuration file. If you go through the sping documentation, you will find that you can build a context without using the xml file.
    For instance, we chose to use spring to do some AOP functionality, in an ejb project (chose in instead of ejb3 introspection) and we don' t have a single spring xml file in out source tree.

  • Weblogic 10.3TP, JAX-WS and Spring integration

    Hi all
    We are using JAX-WS and Spring (2.0.6) and our target platform will be Weblogic 10.3. We would like to benefit from Spring injection in our web service classes. However I cannot get it to work. I follow the instructions described here: [url https://jax-ws-commons.dev.java.net/spring]https://jax-ws-commons.dev.java.net/spring and I use version 1.7 of jaxws-spring
    When deploying the sample project I get the following error:

  • Need Help in JNDI Datasource using tomcat and spring

    Hi,
    I am trying to connect my local database using JNDI datasource in tomcat and spring

    In tomcat server.xml (Path: E:\apache-tomcat-7.0.35\conf) I added the below configuration
    <Resource name="UserDatabase" auth="Container"
    type="org.apache.catalina.UserDatabase"
    description="User database that can be updated and saved"
    factory="org.apache.catalina.users.MemoryUserDatabaseFactory"
    pathname="conf/tomcat-users.xml" />
    <Resource name="jdbc/myApp" auth="Container"
    type="javax.sql.DataSource"
    driverClassName="oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver"

    maxActive="10" maxIdle="5"
    maxWait="60000" removeAbandoned="true"

    </bean>
    <jee:jndi-lookup id="dataSource" jndi-name="/jdbc/myApp" resource-ref="true"/>

  • JDev 10.1.3 and Tortoise CVS interoperability question

    Greetings:
    I am using jdev 10.1.3 and when I check out a project from CVS I am not able to update or commit files with tortoise. I used to be able to do this and it was very handy, now when I try to update or commit any files with Tortoise I get the following error:
    cvs.exe [update aborted]: the :ssh2#key='C:\Documents and Settings\troy\id_bull': access method is not installed on this system
    does anyone know how to make this work with the CVS built in to JDEV?
    Thanks
    Troy

    If it use to work I would reinstall Tortoise. The error suggest that the CVS client is not installed.

  • Are JUnit jar and spring OSGi bundle in OEPE compatible with each other?

    The OEPE 11g comes with org.junit4_4.3.1 and Spring OSGi Bundle (org.springframework.bundle.spring_2.5.6.v200808081800.jar). However, these two seem to be incompatible. For example, @RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class) in a test case gives error because org.junit.internal.runners.JUnit4ClassRunner is not in the junit.jar.

    Hello,
    There could be a compatibility issue.
    I mentioned in the other thread that downloading a more recent JUnit JAR and using it in your project might help us diagnose the issue further.
    Let us know the results of that test.

  • What is the difference between struts and spring framework

    What is the difference between struts and spring framework
    Thanks in advance

    Struts is nothing more than a web MVC framework.
    Spring is lots more.
    Spring has its own web MVC frameworks for both servlets and portlets. I think the Struts web MVC design is inferior to Spring's.
    It also has JDBC and ORM support, message driven POJOs, an IoC engine, aspects, and lots more.
    Struts would be a minor subset of Spring.

    2007-11-05 08:23:44.085 WARNING An internal error has occurred in method getMarkup()
    I have managed to deploy and run the Spring portlet using Sun App Server and Sun Portlet container with no problems which leads me to believe my Spring setup is correct.
    I also have managed to run the Spring pets portlet example on Sun App Server and Sun Portlet container with no problems. But again it fails on Oracle with the same problem.
    To deploy on Oracle I ran the oracle wsrp jar against my EAR. As far as I can tell it has not corrupted any of the Spring setup in the web.xml.
    The version are as follows
    Oracle Portal 10.1.4 running on OAS 10.1.2
    calling the portlet using WSRP v1.
    The portlet is running on standalone OC4J 10.1.3.3 with Oracle portlet container 10.1.3.2. On Windows Spring 2.0.6.
    Any ideas? Thanks Paul

    Was an answer ever found? I am currently experiencing the same issue.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Go to Settings>Safari and Clear Cookies, Data and History
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • G4 450 and protools, somehow ran out of memory to startup. Error code 10. Tried turning off extensions to boot but now just locks up as I tried a HD verify/repair and then moved the folder to the desktop screen. cant get it off now.froze.

    Ok, I have a Mac g4,  os9. ..450 Processor. I Think I upgraded ram, can't remember. Maybe a 512 card. Added an 80 gig internal HD for music storage.  Computer was solely used for protools LE 5.  I knew I was kinda close on my memory for running the program after recording things with plug ins etc.  It was beginning to get slow at startup.  Anyway it's been a couple years since I used it.  I got it set up yesterday and it wouldn't launch and kept giving me error code 10. So I replaced the battery and tried again.  the small finder icon in middle of screen would then pop up and alternate with a "?". Then it would change to a pict of a hard drive disk and then a me alternating "?".  It would still give me the error code if I clicked on anything. So I then held down the shift key to turn off extensions as it had mentionEd to do a couple times. Still would give me the error code on my home page.  If I tried to get into my hd which is on desktop it would give me the message, but somehow it did open one occasion and I went into it and scrolled to disk verify and repair. Did it. Said things were fine. I then saved the results in a file which was then offered along with location. I chose desktop. Probably really bad idea in hind sight.. It did it, but now no matter if I turn extensions off,  the home screen pops up but then goes blank.  The hard drive icon along with the new folder, and my protools icon immediately dissapear. And it freezes.  at one point a message did pop up saying finder could not start up because there is not enough memory available.  I'm not a computer guy.  Ive tried finding the guy who helped me set this thing up 10 years ago but to no avail. If I can be guided to somehow uncover some of the unneeded memory usage I would then learn how to more efficiently use it.  How the heck do I even start. I can't get to a screen which shows what's eating my computers space to even start getting rid of unneeded stuff. Please help if you can.  I have so much to loose if I can't get it to work.  Btw...I no longer have the os9 disk. I think it was tossed 10 years ago or more.  May not even have my original pro tools disks anymore.  Uggh.

    Ouch, tough spot, but offhand I'd say some memory may have gone bad, or maybe just needs re-seating after all this time.
    Not much you can do, but try this anyway...
    PRAM reset, CMD+Option+p+r...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
    In fact, do 3 in a row, takes a bit of time.
