Jdev 9.0.3.3 and uix 2.2

I'm working on a project where Jdeveloper 9.0.3.3 is used. Is it possible to use the 10g UIX and still use the old bussiness components? And if not not, what is the best way to migrate? Some hints would be highly appreciated.
greetings, jan

  • Unable to create/use Java 1.3.1 library in JDev 10.1.2.1 and 10.1.3 EA

    Hi !
    I'm working on a project that uses jdk1.3.1_03.
    I use Jdev 10.1.2 and want to migrate to either JDev 10.1.2.1 (latest production version) or 10.1.3 EA (Early Access).
    With JDev 10.1.2, I have no issue.
    However, with JDev 10.1.2.1 or 10.1.3 EA, i have an error message as soon as I try to create/use a J2SE 1.3.1_03 definition :
    Title : Java Virtual Machine Launcher
    Error message : Could not find main class. Program will exit!
    Is there a workaround ?
    Is J2SE 1.3.1 no longer supported ?
    If it is no longer supported, why did this happen between 2 minor versions of JDev (10.1.2 and 10.1.2.1)
    Thank you in advance for your answers !
    Thomas

    I don't use JDK 1.3.1 to start JDev.
    I know/use two ways to create the 1.3.1 library :
    - Project Properties
    then in the tree view : Profiles/Development/Libraries and then 'new' button
    - Menu 'Tools/Manage Libraries'
    then 'J2SE Definition' Tab and 'new' button
    Both methods end with the error mentioned before when I select the 1.3.1 java executable after a click on 'browse' in JDev 10.1.2.1 and 10.1.3 EA.
    As i wrote, the same actions in JDev 10.1.2 work perfectly.

    Hi,
    libraries can be added on the project level. Open the project properties (context menu) and choose the library node. I am afraid, but I don' think there is a tutorial that explains end-to-end what is your development assignment

  • 10.1.3 and UIX --- anyone got it to run?

    I am toying around with 10.1.3.
    I'm testing if we could get our UIX applications to run with 10.1.3.
    The UIX design time extension is still missing, but we're not planning any huge changes to these applications right now, so for the time being, we would be happy to get the applications to run.
    The older UIX stuff seems to work, but one application (9.0.5.2 style, uses bindings) isn't working.
    It seems that the bindings are not doing what they're supposed to do.
    During rendering I get a huge amount of EL exceptions.
    So I was wondering if anyone managed to get a 9.0.5.2-style UIX application to run.
    And it would be great to get some clarification from Oracle about the UIX design time extension that was mentioned in documents, and which was supposed to be available in the second half of 2006. This phrase seems to have vanished from documents during the last month or so. Is this still coming?
    Thanks,
    Sascha

    Hello Sascha,
    As far as I know, if you still need to run with the original UIX technology,
    you should keep JDeveloper 10.1.2.1.
    still available to download at the JDeveloper archive web site :
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/jdev/archives.html
    You can check for the Oracle JDeveloper 10g (10.1.3):
    Desupported and Deprecated Features
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/10.1.3.0.3/desupport1013g.html
    as well as the Roadmap of ADF UIX :
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/collateral/papers/9.0.5.0/adfuix_roadmap/adfuix_roadmap.html
    where it says :
    It is recommended that customers planning new user interface projects should use the 10.1.3 production release if they have the opportunity to do so. With the Oracle JDeveloper 10g (10.1.3) production release JavaServer Faces will be the recommended view technology for building web applications. Alternatively, customers not able to use the production release of Oracle JDeveloper 10.1.3 can use the Oracle JDeveloper 10.1.2 production release with ADF UIX and Apache Struts. These technologies are well supported in Oracle JDeveloper 10.1.2, and using them will allow applications to be more easily migrated to Oracle ADF 10.1.3 and JSF.
    Additionally, ADF UIX has been desupported in the 10.1.3 release.
    Hope this will help you.

  • JDev 10.1.3.3 and WebCenter - Error running WSRP Standalone Portlet

    Hello: I am working with JDev 10.1.3.3 w/ the WebCenter extension on my WinXP PC. I have viewed the WebCenter How-To Demos (http://www.oracle.com/products/middleware/webcenter.html) and am replicating them in JDev. All is working except for the last in the Veeva Vacation demos (Building & Deploying Standards-Based Portlets). I followed the demo and successfully (so I thought) created an entry point, deployed the standalone portlet and registered the portlet producer. I dragged the VeevaProducer to the JSF page. Then with my Preconfigured OC4J running I tried to run the jspx page. Instead of seeing the application page, an error page appeared "Error instantiating web-application".
    The first error description is:
    "Error compiling :C:\Oracle\jdev10133\jdev\Veeva\ViewController\public_html: Syntax error in source or compilation failed in: C:\Oracle\jdev10133\jdev\system\oracle.j2ee.10.1.3.41.57\embedded-oc4j\application-deployments\current-workspace-app\Project1\oracle\portlet\wsrp\v2\soap\UnsupportedLocale.java C:\Oracle\jdev10133\jdev\system\oracle.j2ee.10.1.3.41.57\embedded-oc4j\application-deployments\current-workspace-app\Project1\oasis\names\tc\wsrp\v1\bind\runtime\WSRP_v1_PortletManagement_Binding_SOAP_Stub.java:35: error #300: WSRP_v1_PortletManagement_PortType not found in class oasis.names.tc.wsrp.v1.bind.runtime.WSRP_v1_PortletManagement_Binding_SOAP_Stub

    I don't know what that means! Your help will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    You can create EAR/WAR file from JDeveloper and then use the OC4J 10.1.2 managment console to deploy them to the server, there is no one-click-deploy support from JDev 10.1.3 to OC4J stand-alone 10.1.2

  • Jdev 10.1.3.2 and Standalone OC4J 10.1.2

    Hi,
    I am trying to create an application server connection to a standalone OC4J (10.1.2) in JDeveloper 10.1.3.2.
    In step 1 of the Create App Server connection I select Standalone OC4J 10.1.3. (Thinking that OC4J version 10.1.2 is configured similarly).
    I fill in the required information in the remaining steps
    (username and password, hostname etc..) but when I go to test the connection, the Testing Connection Status window just hangs, it appears no connection is being made and it just remains that way.
    My standalone OC4J is up and running. It was started using the command java -jar oc4j.jar
    Anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong ?
    Are there any log files I can look at to try and resolve the problem ?
    Thanks,

  • Developed in Jdev 11.1.1.2 and deployed into stand alone WLS 10.3.1

    Hi Gurus,
    Currently we are using JDeveloper 11.1.1.2 and deployed a sample web application into integrated WLS and its working fine with skins and page-templates.
    We are using stand alone Weblogic 10.3.1 version.
    When i deployed the same application(developed in jdev 11.1.1.2.0) into stand alone WLS 10.3.1, the skins and page-templates are not working.
    Am i missing any thing at the time of deployment?
    Please share your valuable suggestions and ideas on this.
    Thanks
    Mahi.

    We don't certify this combination - you should be using the same subversion of WLS and JDeveloper.
    You need to make sure the JRF/ADF libraries on the server match the version in JDeveloper.

  • JDev 10.1.2.1 and Java language inconsistancies?

    HI,
    I am new to JDeveloper and am trying to make some changes to an existing system (Java/Struts based web application). I noticed an error message anytime I had an enumerated Collection of used the For:Each command. I believe I have set the JDK to use the Sun JDK 1.5.0.21, but I still see the errors. The app, and a test app, compile fine outside of JDev and in Eclipse, but in JDeveloper those two functions cause an error. Any ideas?
    Ted Herrlich

    Code such as this:
    for (String arg: argList) {
    System.out.format("%s ", arg);
    Results in this error message:
    Control Statement/Clause: Expecting ; The visual clue is positioned in the colon in the for statement.
    Code such as:
    public Collection<Organization> getAllActiveOrganizationsForSelectedCommand() {
    Organization command = getSelectedCommand();
    return organizationService.findAllOrganizations(command, true, null, null);
    results in a ton of error messages, the first is "Variable name: Expecting identifier" and the visual clue is positioned at the opening < after the keyword Collection.

  • Wildcards in ADF and UIX

    Hi,
    I have to provide a wildcard search for a UIX search form. The customer demands explicitely the use of "*" and "?". Fortunately the asterisk ("*") is implemented. But how can I use the question mark "?" instead of or additonally to the underscore "_" character?
    Users don't know / don't care / shouldn't be aware of which database is behind an application, and the "?" is the common "standard" for replacing one character is a search string.
    Regards,
    Georg

    Hello Markus & Jan,
    thanks for pointing me to the right direction. I will implement the custom ViewCriteriaAdapter as soon as our project enters the implementation phase. Currently we are in a prototype phase. I was hoping the wildcard characters would be configurable.

  • BC4J and UIX: Where to filter MessageChoice?

    I have VO based on EO and table STUDY_PHASE (STUDY_ID, STUDY_PHASE_ID, STUDY_PHASE).
    So when user logs into the system he/she chooses STUDY_ID and thereafter is able to visit other UIX pages. Some of the pages are UIX Input Forms and the user can select Study Phase from the MessageChoice Component that is 'sourced' with the StudyPhaseView.
    My questions is where (not how) to do this in the code? What I did is parametarized VO with 'WHERE studyId = :1' and I am aware of the code:
    ViewObject vo = appMod.findViewObject('VOname');
    vo.setWhereClauseParam(0, studyId);

    Hi
    Again I would appreciate if someone can take a look at this post.
    I will try to be more specific. I have two VOs:
    1. AssignmentVO (AssignId, AssignedTo, StudyId, StudyPhaseId). This VO is based on EO AssignmentEO with the same attributes and this EO is based on a table ASSIGNMENT with, again, same attributes. Clear enough?
    2. StudyPhaseVO (StudyId, StudyPhaseId, StudyPhase)
    There is no viewlink beetween these two VOs. I just need StudyPhaseVO to be my source for the MessageChoice. Here is where MessageChoice comes into the game:
    I have a UIX page that is an input form for adding/editing Assignment information. So the page has entries for AssignId, AssignedTo, StudyId, StudyPhaseId. Actually the page HAS only two input fields (AssignId uses automatic DBSequence for the new records):
    - AssignTo as MessageTextInput
    - StudyPhase as MessageChoice (HERE IT IS).
    I guess I can divide my problem into two:
    1. I need to choose StudyPhase from the source view (StudyPhaseVO) and destination is actually TWO fields StudyId and StudyPhaseId which both are needed to passed to the underlaying AssignmentEO.
    2. But my set of choices needs to be filtered by StudyId which has been selected in the table on one of the previous pages. I do have a ViewLink available to fetch the record and extract the StudyId.
    The question is how and where in the code to use this StudyId so that when UIX input form opens, only filtered values in MessageChoice are displayed. If this is not clear enough please let me know.

  • JSR 168 and UIX.

    Hi,
    Iam a newbie working on an JSR 168 app that makes an existing portlets as JSR 168 compatible. The portlets was orginaly developed usign the JPDK api and to incorporate standards we are making it as JSR 168 compatible.
    We used the UIX pages as the front end for showing portlet content. Is it possible to leverage the existing UIX pages using the JSR 168 API. For Rendering the UIX content we used the JPDK classes like the RenderManager , PortletContainerRenderer etc.
    As i understand JSR 168 provides the RenderRequest which represents the request sent to the portlet to handle a render. Can this RenderRequest be used to display UIX pages.
    Just wanted to know a couple of things.
    a) JPDK providers RenderManager , PortletContainerRenderer etc are there equivalents in the JSR 168 API
    b) Difference between the RenderRequest of the JSR and the PorletRenderRequest class .
    At a brief Iam looking for an equivalents of in the JSR 168 API which can accomplish this.
    Thanks
    Mouli

    Hi Mouli,
    In case of JPDK always you will get single request i.e., HttpServletRequest from the portlet.you can get the PortletRenderRequest from HttpServletRequest.
    Way to get PortletRenderRequest from HttpServletRequest :
    ===========================================
    PortletRenderRequest portletRenderRequest=(PortletRenderRequest)oHttpServletRequest.getAttribute("oracle.portal.PortletRenderRequest");
    [NOTE : you need to import the following class.
    import oracle.portal.provider.v2.render.PortletRenderRequest;]
    In case of JSR 168 generally you will get two kinds of request ie., RenderRequest & ActionRequest.Where PortletRequest is the parent interface for this two interfaces.
    For Ex.whenever the portlets first time loaded on portalpage the portlet will get RenderRequest & it will create its own portlet markup.When ever you perform any operation in any portlet then it will have ActionRequest & remaining portlets will have RenderRequest.
    Please feel free to ask anything related to portal technology..Let me know if i specified anything wrong.....

  • JDev 10.1.2 - UI Debugger (uix?)

    Hi,

  • Difference between looks of Jdev 10.1.3.1 and JDev i

    I had downloaded the Oracle JDeveloper V 10.1.3.1.0 for using in EBS R12 version. But this JDeveloper appears quite different to look compared to the JDeveloper 9i thing.
    Like for starters there used to me Project Option in the Menu Bar, which has disappeared.
    I was wondering whether i have downloaded the correct version.
    I did make sure from my side that i did download the correct version from Metalink.
    Release 12
    ATG Release 12 Version
    JDeveloper 10g Patch

    Am i being too paranoid about the look and feel being different from the 9i version??

    I guess i have installed the correct version, as i have been to those links that you have given.
    Its just that there are many discrepancies in the tutorials and the JDeveloper10g version with OA extension
    Like for example, in the tutorial it says 'Right-click on the toolbox.jws workspace in the Navigator and select New OA Project... from the context menu. ' But when u right click, you dont get an option for New OA Project.
    Please can anyone help me out with this confusion.
    I never had this type of confusion in Jdeveloper version 9i with OA extension.

  • Code insight is not working correctly in Jdev 10.1.3 (preview) and java 1.5

    The code insight does not work for me. I followed the advice of Steve Muench given here:
    http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2003/01/17/whyIsntMyCodeInsightWorking.html
    but that did not change the problem. The problem seems to be related to new java 1.5 features. As soon as I start using generics the code insight is lost...
    Any clues what is going on? I s this easy to fix?
    -- example: (NOTE that iI use double (( )) to indicate generics definitions. the forum software would not let me put in the correct syntax!)
    package mypackage;
    import java.util.Set;
    public class tester1
    private Set ((Integer)) intSet = null;
    public tester1()
    intSet. ---- NO CODE INSIGHT POPS UP! (if i change to "private Set intSet = null;" it works)
    public static void main(String[] args)
    new tester1();
    P.S.
    Also, i noticed that the auto-import ist not working for the "Set((Integer))" line!

    thanks for the info.
    Hmm - too bad. I may have to switch to eclipse or something then, since my project involves some 1.5 parts and the missing code insights and import features are a real pain for me.
