JDeveloper 11.1.1.7 on Windows 8 ?

I know that this combination is not certified, but I would like to know if anyone tried and what are experiences?
Description platforms (which version of Java) would also welcome.
I am in a position to decide whether development based on this platform, or better yet stay on windows 7 ?
The first experiences are not the best (I am unable to start integrated WL server instance on 64 bit Java 1.6.0.38), but all experiences are welcome.

I have no idea where to properly submit this issue. Hope I do not abuse this forum for too much.
Jdeveloper 11g cannot be installed on Windows with Thai regional settings configuration.
I've got "A fatal error has occurred. This application will terminate" error dialog, while installing.
I have to change my regional settings to English then install it and change my setting back later.

Sigh... This forum software doesn't even support image posting.
The error is every easy to reproduce.
    1. On Windows XP, goto "Control Panel" -> "Regional and Language Options" -> "Standards and format"; and change that to "Thai"
    2. Invoke "jdevstudio11110install.exe"
    3. Always click "Next" until the error dialog appear.
    <pre>
    . Exit [x] .
. [!] A fatal error has occurred. This application will .
    . terminate. .
    . [[ OK ]] .
    </pre>
From my experience, this always have something to do with the Buddhist Era year system (AD + 543).

I've tried changing the jdk on which JDeveloper is running (to jdk 6, latest release, 32 bit; I know it isn't guaranteed to work) and it fixed a problem with Aero, but didn't fix the other problem.
Is there something I can do? I don't have access to the classes, but it seems to me there is something it doesn't find. Is there a workaround?
Should I try have JDeveloper work on a 64 bit jdk?
    Thanks for the help
Just an update: switching to 64bit JDK didn't change anything
    Edited by: user8293834 on 14-dic-2009 12.21 - update

Let me rephrase: when one scrolls using page up or down keys, or by using a mouse wheel, the source code lines ( and characters) appear partly only, either distorted or overlapping with each other, in such a way that one cannot make out what has been written. I hope the above clarifies the problem in question. In such a case a screen shot might actually serve us perfectly.
I have already given your suggestion a try, without any success.
Thanks anyway very much for your reply!
    Any other helping hand available?
    TIA!

  • IOracle JDeveloper 10G will not open on Windows 7 64 bit OS?

    Hi,
I have a feeling this may have been asked before but here goes, I am using a Windows 7 64 bit OS laptop and JDeveloper will not open fpr me. I have tried setting it to Run as Administrator and compatibility mode for Windows XP SP 3 and neither of these help. I have very little knowledge of JDeveloper, all I do is use it to compile to an executable .jar file and then copy into the relevant environment. Could someone please let me know if there is a way to resolve this (without using Windows Virtual PC)? Please include step by step instructions, VERY much appreciated!!!
    Thanks,
    Rhonda

Try invoking JDeveloper using the jdev.exe in the bin directory instead of the jdevw.exe to see a log of what the problem is.
Also which JDK are you using?
And also - why aren't you using the new JDeveloper 11g?

  • Cannot save files in Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4 on windows 7

I installed Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4 and Oracle XE on 32 bit Windows 7 machine with Jdk 1.6 installed but I am unable to save jsp and Java project files after first restart of Jdev, before first restart everything was working fine. As soon as I restarted it I am no more able to save files.
Same problem with Oracle XE database too. I created a table inserted some data, queried the table; all went fine. I restarted database and inserted some more records then again restarted and queried the table but alas! no new records was there.
    Any solution?
    Thanks
    YG

It got resolved. Problem was with Avast Antivirus. It was treating Jdeveloper as virus program and was not letting it to save files.

    Manifest.MF contains the following:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Main-Class: asax.view.Form
I have also added all libraries and veririfed they exist within the jar 's root.
Within jdeveloper the application runs with no problem.
I 'd appreciate any ideas any help on this..

If you run a jar from the command line, the class loader don't look into the jar for other jars needed and hence you get a class not found error.
If you start the app in JDev and look at the log window, you'll notice that jdev puts all needed jars on the classpath. This way the app finds them and the app runs OK.
This is not a jdev problem, but a general java problem. To make it run you can unzip the jar and set the classpath when starting the app to include the folder which contains the jars.

  • Can't Run JDeveloper 11g on JDK 6_13 for Windows 64-bit

    Hi all,
When I attempt to run JDeveloper 11g (base install), and select my java.exe file from my JDK 6_13x64 installation I get the following error message:
"Unable to find Java Virtual Machine.
"To point to a location of a Java Virtual Machine, please refer to the Oracle9i JDeveloper Install Guide (jdev\install.html)."
In addition to the incorrect version number, the JDeveloper Install Guide makes no mention of this problem. I've found a few posts on this forum where people had this problem, but they're all pretty old, and none of them got satisfactory answers. A few possibilities mentioned in those posts that I've eliminated are as follows:
    - I've confirmed that this is, indeed, the JDK, not just a JRE.
    - This is the production version of JDeveloper 11g, not a technical preview, so it shouldn't require 1.5.
    - There are no spaces in the paths to either the JDK or JDeveloper.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?
    Thanks much,
    Avrom

Thanks, Shay. That does seem to work, and will suffice as a workaround for now. But are there plans to make JDeveloper compatible with the 64-bit edition of Java? It would be nice to get what I assume is a substantial performance enhancement from using it.
10:06 PM: Actually, it doesn't work very well. JDeveloper will start, but it has a lot of stability problems; it seems to freeze at 100% CPU usage (well, 25%, but I'm on a quad processor) at the drop of a hat, such as when I minimize, walk away for 90 minutes, and come back--once it even did it just when I tried to create a new application. I've installed this version of JDev on a 32-bit system and have found it to be generally quite stable, so I assume this is a problem with my setup.

The last link in the chain:

just redirects me to a page that says "Page not found. (Error Document 404". This is the link for the complete install, but the others seem ot be the same. I really need this update to solve a problem, so it'd be great if download links would actually work...

  • How do I make JDeveloper open a new tab instead of a new window?

I am experiencing an annoyance where my JDeveloper opens a new Internet Explorer window every time I execute the program. I would much prefer that is opens a new tab in the window that I currently have open instead.
If anyone has any idea how to fix this minor flaw within JDeveloper any help would be appreciated. Surely I am not the only person that has grown to despise this issue.
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

This is a configuration in IE. It has nothing to do with jdev.
I googled it for you http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110605041808AA58rsu

  • Windows 7 compatibility issue with JDeveloper 10.1.3.3

I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3 on Windows 7 Professional(32-bit OS).
Whenever I start JDev, I get message that the *"color scheme has been changed to Windows 7 basic"*. Again, when I scroll the development pane/structure pane/application navigator pane, the fonts appears to be broken and the problem gets corrected :
    1) When I minimise and then maximise the JDev, everything seems to be correct.
    2) When I click on the respective panes
How can I resolve it or rather get a workaround ?
    Regards
    Rohit

  • Bug, JDeveloper (latest version) in Windows Vista w/Aero: Scrolling fails

    Hi,
I´m using JDeveloper 10.1.3.1 in Windows Vista Ultimate with the Aero features fully activated.
First of all, as soon as JDeveloper starts loading, Windows deactivates Aero for some reason.
Second, the scrolling in the different panes fails. All the letters get messed up, like if it doesn´t update the screen. That happens for example in the code windows and the application navigator.
I guess I'm not the first one facing this annoying bug, but I haven´t seen any solution yet. I think Oracle should post a warning, or update the documentation, or at least a solution in this forum.
Is this a JDK issue, instead of a JDeveloper issue?
If I use another JDK, would that solve it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Brian

    Hi Frank and John,
First of all, thanks a lot for helping me (and the hundreds/thousands of other users using JDev over Vista).
I can´t believe Oracle hasn´t addressed this issue yet. I mean, we are not in September 2006 using a beta version of Vista. Vista has already been released two months ago, and thousands of machines are being sold with it. Am I the only one using JDev+Vista? I don´t think so. However, I don´t see many other users posting claims here.
I would love to see the Oracle gurus (Hi Shay!) posting a definitive statement from Oracle regarding this issue.
Well, I have tried using the latest JDK from Sun (1.6.0), modifying the jdef.conf file so JDev will use it instead of the budled JDK. Well, it did work. The UI problem is gone. But JDev is giving me the message about not being certified to run with that version of JDK. What problems will I face now with that JDK? I don´t know. Should I use another version of JDK that will solve the UI but without any other compatibility problems?
I REALLY would like to see an official response from Oracle.

  • Getting error while Configure WS policies in JDeveloper 11.1.1.6

    Hi All,
I am getting this error in JDeveloper IDE for SOA. In the SOA composite I have Web Services--->mediator--->DB Adapter. Next I try and right on the web service component in the composite.xml and select 'Configure WS Policies', I get this below error.
SEVERE: The policy manager repository path "C:\Documents%20and%20Settings\jack\Application%20Data\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.6.38.61.92\DefaultDomain\oracle\store\gmds" does not contain any valid directories.
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: WSM-04694 : An invalid directory was provided to connect to a file-base MDS repository.
I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6 on Windows XP. I google it in one blog it suggest it's due to space in folder name, but still waiting for a resolution. Did anyone have similiar issues and managed to resolve it.
    Thanks

    Terry,
It seems like a SSL issue related to the certificate. Can you make sure that certificate being presented by the server (hosting URL https://ip address:port no/integration/services/b2b/B2BMetadataWSPort) is valid and you have complete cert chain in the keystore of SOA server?
    Regards,
    Anuj
