JDeveloper 11g: create package?, swing internationalization?,

Hello out there,
since about two weeks I am dealing with JDev11g and I am really impressed about this mighty stuff.
Alas I have got the following questions:
1. How do I create an empty Java package? I know that when creating a new Java class I can specify a package on the fly. But when I decide to refactor some class to another package the target package must already exist. My work-around is to create a dummy class in that package, refactor and throw away the dummy. Did I miss something?
2. I did not find support for I18N in the GUI Editor. I can't believe that it is not there. Any guidelines for dealing with resource bundles?

Hi,
1. you should be able to move the class by choosing "move" from the refactoring option. Then in the open filed, type the new package name. You don't need to create a new package first
2. No there isn't any I18N support n the GUI editor. Internationalization in Swing is not as simple as it is in the web world. However, its on the list of features we like to see as a possible new feature

  • JDeveloper 11g Preview - Bugs Swing

Hi, My Name is Pedro Díaz Robles
I have some bugs at the time of working with Swing, at the time of designing my forms,
code disappears, for example the size of a window or size of button.
recently they have some patchset for bugs of swing ?
    It is a simple example
The steps are the following to produce bug:
    1. Create a empty Project
    2. New Client Thier - Swing AWT - Java Application (With Add Default Frame Option Selected) and post, create the default frame.
    3. I change size of frame
    4. View the source code:
    this.setSize();
    5. The same with a button
    jButton1.setBounds();

    Hi,
    thanks for posting your findings.
I admit that In the first preview of JDeveloper 11 we didn't put lots of effort in testing Swing, so it doesn't come by surprise that it has holes. This however will change for the next preview that we expect for end of September. If you can reproduce your problems in that release, please repost.

    Hi.
Please always state the JDev version you use when you ask a question.
What do you mean exactly by cleanup? From the look of it, either you changed the package declaration at the top of you Java files for something that doesn't exist or renamed the on-disk directories in the package structure to something that doesn't match the package declarations in your code.
Do not forget there is a direct correlation between packages names and directories.
    So, if you have package
com.oracle.blueberryYou will have the following on the disk:
    src\com\oracle\blueberryBest Regards,
    Frédéric.

  • Jdeveloper 11g Create JSR 168

using Jdev 11g for creating webcenter application. In the "Create JSR 168 Java Portlet - step 3 of 9" there are 3 options to choose from ......
    a> Generate JSP
    b> Generate ADF-Faces JSPX
    c> Map to path
    d> Custom Code
so my question is out of a and b (Jsp or Jspx) which is the best option ?
I have seen majority of examples where people have been choosing JSP instead of Jspx . Why is that ? Shouldnt JSPX be option of choice ?
what are advantages choosing one on other. ?
    thx
    p

Using JSP you are creating default portlets as described by the JSR168 standard. You aren't using ny special library and so you should be able to deploy these on every single portlet server.
Using JSPX, you are creating portlets with the JSF technology instead of the JSP technologie. By selecting JSPX you are also using the JSF portlet bridge as described in the JSR301 standard. By using JSPX you can make use of the complete ADF technology like the rich faces and the business components.
In my white paper about IPC I show an example using the JSPX technology and ADF:

  • XML Publisher 5.6.2 in JDeveloper 11g

The data engine in the Oracle XML Publisher 5.6.2 does not run with the Oracle JDBC library in JDeveloper 11g. Error gets generated in the class oracle.apps.xdo.dataengine.DBConnection.
Use JDeveloper 10.1.3 for Oracle XML Publisher 5.6.2.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/vohra-jdev-xmlpub.html

XML Publisher 5.6.2 API may be used in JDeveloper 11g by importing the Oracle JDBC library definition from JDeveloper 10.1.3. Instead of the Oracle JDBC library in JDeveloper 11g create a Oracle JDBC library from the JDeveloper 10.1.3 Oracle JDBC library JAR files.

    Hi
I created a simple Swing Java DB application in Jdeveloper 11g,

    Hi Shay,
    Thanks for your response.
The following is what I did:
    1. connect JavaDB on my C drive by using generic jdbc
    2. create EO, VO and AM manually based on one JavaDB table (Please note: When I use the BC4J wizard, I can only create VO, the EO is empty)
    3. run BC4J tester to insert and update data
    4. created an ADF Swing application by dragging the EMPview from data control to the editor
    5. save the project and run java class
    6. create the deployment profile by following your instruction,
and select all libraries from the Contributors list when I create the file groups
    7. deploy the jar file without any error
    8. run the jar file and get the following error:

I am encountering the same bug / problem right now.
Anybody from Oracle who has a workaround for this BUG?
We are migrating to JDev 11.1.1.2.0 for a client and this bug is still there!
Any help from the JDev team is highly appreciated!

  • Creating and Binding View Objects dynamically : Oracle Jdeveloper 11g

    Hello,
We are trying to create and bind view objects dynamically to adf data visualization components.
The view object is a result of multiple tables.
We are using Oracle JDeveloper 11g Technical Preview. ( can't upgrade to TP2 or TP3 now).
We have found this : http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2003/07/15/creatingUpdateableMultientityViewObjectDefinitionsDynamically.html on our search for the same.
The sample application however, is in 10g , hence required migration.
Also, it was a standalone application with the TestClient.java having a main() method.
Our requirement is for Web Application; we use Adf+jsf .
Guidance of any sort is very much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
there also exist a forum for JDeveloper 11: JDeveloper and OC4J 11g Technology Preview
What you are trying todo is not trivial because you need to not only dynamically create the VO, you would also dynamically need to create the binding meta data for it (assuming you use ADF). Not sure if the API to modify the binding is public, so posting it on the JDeveloper 11 forum bears a glimpse of hope for an answer
In JDeveloper 10.1.3 you can't do this

  • Blog post : "Bug in Create/Edit View Criteria Wizard (JDeveloper 11g)"

    hi
Using steps 1 to 13 from the blog post "Bug in Create/Edit View Criteria Wizard (JDeveloper 11g)" by Andrejus Baranovskis, I have been able to reproduce the issue he describes.
    see http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2008/12/bug-in-createedit-view-criteria-wizard.html
I the blog post comments he writes "... there was no time for me to fill bug in Metalink ...".
Maybe someone from Oracle can pick it up from this forum post and file it as a bug if it is one (and if possible post the bug number here).
    many thanks
    Jan Vervecken

The mechanism is to create a reproduceable test case, create a Service Request in metalink.oracle.com, post the test case, and convince the analyst to file it as a bug.
It may be not efficient at some time, but this the way it is handled.

  • How To create ADF Search form in JDeveloper 11g 11.1.1.0.1

    Hi,
I am using JDeveloper 11g 11.1.1.0.1 , in which i tried creating an ADF search form that has Find and Execute Buttons.
I created the same ADF search form using JDeveloper 11g TP3 and TP4 wherein it works fine but not in JDeveloper 11g 11.1.1.0.1.
    Scenario....
I dragged a read only view object on to the jspx page as ADF Search Form and dragged the same as Read only table.
After doing this if i run the application the search functionality does not happen .
( I click on the find button and enter the condition and then click on the execute button. records does not get filtered based on that condition specified.)
But when the same steps is done in 11g TP3 and TP4 the search functionalty works fine.
Can someone suggest me what is the issue.
Is this a bug in the new release.
    regards
    vinitha

    Vijay,
Is this configured with Oracle E-Business Suite? If yes, please note that JDeveloper 11g is not certified with Oracle Apps 11i/R12.

  • Create LifeRay portlet in JDeveloper 11g

    Hi...
I want to create LifeRay JSF portlets using JDeveloper 11g is there any plugin or any tutorial which guides in this process?
    Thanks
    Feras

Well, in JDeveloper 11g, you can install the Webcenter design-time extension via help->check for updates (Oracle Webcenter Framework and Services Design Time)
Once you've installed that, you can create JSR-168 portlets using JDeveloper as documented [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_java_intro.htm#CEGDCAEE]here.
Nothing specific for LifeRay, though. If you have specific questions, you would probably have better luck on the Webcenter forum.

  • I am not able to create ESB project in Jdeveloper 11g

I tried to create ESB project in Jdeveloper 11g and not finding.
3.3.1 How to Create an ESB Project
After you have created an application, create the ESB project that will contain the ESB services using Oracle JDeveloper ESB Designer.
    To create an ESB project:
In the Applications Navigator, right-click the application to which you want to add a project and then choose New Project.
    The New Gallery opens.
Select ESB Project under General Projects, and then click OK.

Here is what i see in Jdeveloper help.
Comment: Questions on ESB configuration with demo, or specific steps to recreate ESB components of the demo, are described in the SOA Quick Start or Tutorial. ESB info in this guide is more of an overview of the process. Note that ESB is installed with SOA suite and that ESB does not need separate configurations and uses connections defined for the SOA demo
