JDeveloper deployment

Hi,
I'm new in this area and as a beginner have problems.
The network configuration is as follows:
- 1 PC with WinNT4 and Oracle 8.0.4
- 1 PC with WinNT4 and OAS 4.0.7
- 1 PC (my PC) with JDeveloper 2.0 Beta
I made a Web page for testing purposes. It's a simple page with
an applet embeded with the tag <APPLET>. The applet simply
establishes the connection registering first the driver and then
making the connection.
Well, the registration is ok, but the connection is not possible.
I copied every archive (jars and zips) to the base directory,
that is, where the HTML page and the class file are.
What am I doing wrong?
Another question: do I have to use OAS as a web server for data
request? Can I use IIS 4 from Microsoft?
Thanks in advance

The Applet + WebServer + database must all be on the same
machine unless:
1. You are using Oracle Connection Manager found in the 8.x
database install
2. You are using OAS & JWeb

    #### Cannot run application adfm-new due to error deploying to DefaultServer.
    [Application adfm-new stopped and undeployed from Server Instance DefaultServer]

    Deployment issue is not specific to mobile - do you see the same deployment issue when trying to run this application using a desktop browser?
    This may be caused by Windows Firewall settings - please make sure there is no firewall software blocking localhost:port access - in this access it appears to be localhost:7102.
    Firewall issue can also prevent you from accessing the application from a mobile emulator - Windows Mobile emulator acts as its own network device, and needs to access the integrated WLS server in JDev through the network.
    Lastly, when testing in Windows Mobile emulator, please use the IP address of the machine you are running JDeveloper in the URL. Windows mobile emulator does not understand "localhost".
    Thanks,

  • Can JDeveloper deploy a WAR created in another IDE?

    I am developing a web application (set of servlets) that will be packaged as a WAR file and that I want to deploy to our Oracle 10g release 1 application server (9.0.4.2).
    Can I use JDeveloper to deploy the WAR even if I didn't develop the application in JDeveloper? I'm still trying to decide whether to use JDeveloper or Eclipse, and the version of Eclipse I'm using (Europa) doesn't seem to support the OAS version I have.
    I know I could deploy the WAR using the OAS Control, but our server people don't want to give me the ias_admin account details. They don't mind entering those details into JDeveloper while I look the other way though.

    The way that you do the one click deploy from JDeveloper is using a deployment profile.
    So you might need to first create a deployment profile for your code in JDeveloper and then deploy it.
    Try doing New->Projects->Project from WAR file to get your source into JDeveloper.
    Then do New->Deployment Profile->WAR and see if it helps.

  • JDeveloper Deployment of WAR Files to Tomcat

    Hello
    I'm new to learning JSP development, using JDeveloper (10.1.3) and Tomcat(5.5)/Jakarta ISAPI Redirector (1.2.14) on top of IIS. I'm just starting to get the hang of web applications and directory structures. So far I've been manually copying my classes and HTML/JSP files from development to deployment directories but now I want to use the JDeveloper IDE to manage my files and deploy them as my projects get more complex. I have a problem that I'm pulling my hair out about: When I deploy my application using JDeveloper via a WAR archive none of my JSP or HTML pages get served to my browser correctly. For example, a simple "hello world" page will not display anything in my browser. A check of the source code of the web page yields an empty document. This is the case for both HTML and JSP pages. The odd thing is that servlets work. If I type a URL to a servlet inside my application, it works fine. Now if I delete the WAR file and the deployment directory and copy the application files over manually, everything works as expected in the web browser. The culprit (I think) is the WEB-INF\web.xml file. In my manual copy process, I do not have a web.xml file. The text I'm studying from says I don't need it for the simple apps I've done so far. However, JDeveloper requires one for deployment and since I don't know what to put in it, I leave the default contents alone. So my question is: What do I need to do to the WEB-INF\web.xml file to make sure deployed-from-JDeveloper application is able to process HTML and JSP pages? A second question would be: Is there a way to configure JDeveloper such that I don't have to have a web.xml file?
    Thanks.

    You need to access your .jsp pages using the ADF Faces filter, for example:
    http://localhost/dev/faces/default.jsp
    The "/faces" part of the URL tells Tomcat to use the ADF faces filter you installed to process the page. You can specify the name of the filter in the web.xml file along with other data such as security constraints. I can't recall for sure, but I thought JDev set up the base web.xml for you including the ADF Filter lines as part of the install.
    Below is a sample web.xml I use for Tomcat 5.5.9 (note on the cpxfilename context-param you would need to specify your jdev app name.) Hope this helps.
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>

  • Orion-ejb-jar ignored by JDeveloper deploying to OC4J

    orion-ejb-jar.xml is ignored by JDeveloper 903 when deploying to external OC4J 903. Specific mappings like those below are lost:
    <entity-deployment name="RequestEJB" copy-by-value="false" data-source="jdbc/OracleDS" exclusive-write-access="false" table="REQUEST">
    <primkey-mapping>
    <cmp-field-mapping name="requestid" persistence-name="REQUESTID" persistence-type="NUMBER(9)"/>
    </primkey-mapping>
    <cmp-field-mapping name="requestid" persistence-name="REQUESTID" persistence-type="NUMBER(9)"/>
    <cmp-field-mapping name="requestuser" persistence-name="REQUESTUSER" persistence-type="VARCHAR2(30)"/>
    <cmp-field-mapping name="requestlabel" persistence-name="REQUESTLABEL" persistence-type="VARCHAR2(12)"/>
    <cmp-field-mapping name="requestdate" persistence-name="REQUESTDATE" persistence-type="DATE"/>
    <cmp-field-mapping name="isurgent" persistence-name="ISURGENT" persistence-type="VARCHAR2(1)"/>
    </entity-deployment>
    Instead, JDeveloper creates a new orion-ejb-jar.xml with different table name:
              <entity-deployment name="RequestEJB" location="RequestEJB" local-wrapper="RequestHome_EntityHomeWrapper421" table="RequestEJB_modulab_Proj_n76ccv" data-source="jdbc/OracleDS" exclusive-write-access="false" locking-mode="optimistic" update-changed-fields-only="true" delay-updates-until-commit="true" min-instances-per-pk="0" max-instances-per-pk="50" disable-wrapper-cache="true">
                   <primkey-mapping>
                        <cmp-field-mapping name="requestid" persistence-name="requestid" />
                   </primkey-mapping>
                   <cmp-field-mapping name="requestuser" persistence-name="requestuser" />
                   <cmp-field-mapping name="requestlabel" persistence-name="requestlabel" />
                   <cmp-field-mapping name="requestdate" persistence-name="requestdate" />
                   <cmp-field-mapping name="isurgent" persistence-name="isurgent" />
                   <finder-method query="">
                        <!-- Generated SQL: "select RequestEJB_modulab_Proj_n76ccv.requestid from RequestEJB_modulab_Proj_n76ccv -->
                        <method>
                             <ejb-name>RequestEJB</ejb-name>
                             <method-name>findAll</method-name>
                             <method-params>
                             </method-params>
                        </method>
                   </finder-method>
              </entity-deployment>
    orion-ejb-jar is placed at the META-INF folder. Why does JDeveloper ignore it? It does not ignore orion-application.xml nor orion-web.xml. Must I configure project or deployment profiles not to overwrite orion-ejb-jar?

    I believe that it is not JDeveloper issue but OC4J one. It does not pick up new orion-ejb-jar.xml if you re-deploy bean(s). It should deploy your orion-ejb-jar.xml when you're deploying yor application for the first time (so there is not orion-ejb-jar.xml in deployments directory). If you want OC4J to pick changes up remove orion-ejb-jar.xml from $OC4J_HOME/application-deployments/<application>/<Bean>.jar/ and then deploy it either manually or with JDeveloper. I hope it will help.

  • JDeveloper Deployment Plan

    Hi,
    a newbie question:
    i developed a JDeveloper 10 JEE application, which consists of 6 different projects, two of this projects using EJBs, one the Webservice facade, one an Webapplication and the others the model, some helpers, an asn1 converte.. (only jar), and also the Oracle Scheduler
    Now I have to deploy this. As long as I worked local from Jdeveloper it worked, although I don´t know why with my local OC4J standalone. Now I have ;) to deploy that application, I read that I should develop a deployment plan. But how.
    I can create a separate ejb, web or jar deployment for each project in JDeveloper, but can´t find how to bundle the different deployment-descriptors to one application.
    I found a lot of descriptions about deployment-plans used by JDeveloper, but the examples only included a Web and a EJB, no more.
    Any suggestions, any help?
    I hope someone can answer my question.
    kumaro

    the thing you are asking about is how to create an EAR file, which is an entire enterprise application wrapped into one deployable file. An EAR file can contain any number of EJB and WAR modules, as well as regular jar files that you need on the classpath of the ear modules.
    JDeveloper must have a way to package your application into an ear file (as it is part of the JEE spec); good luck figuring out how though. "Deployment plan" sounds like a typical confusing Oracle term that actually means creating and deploying an EAR file. Perhaps you can find a JDeveloper forum or mailing list that can help you more; in these forums we typically deal with enterprise programming problems, not tool specific issues.
    I have an alternative "deployment plan" for you though; use Maven. Among such great benefits as dependency management, it also has easy packaging of enterprise applications, as well as automated release management. But of course that would require you to not only learn how to use Maven, but also setup your project such that it follows the Maven conventions. In my opinion, it is well worth the effort.

  • Does JDeveloper deploy the data-sources.xml file?

    Hi,
    My project has a data-sources.xml file. When I deployed the project, JDeveloper created a .war file. The data-sources.xml file is not in the .war file. How will the application server pick up the data source if the xml file is not getting deployed?
    Thanks,
    Merced

    data-sources.xml configures the datasource with the oc4j server.
    A <Application>-data-sources.xml file also gets added for a project to the project directory.

  • Creating portals using webcenter/jdeveloper deployment issue

    Can we deploy portals created using webcenter/jdeveloper to earlier non -jdeveloper oracle portals or rather the portal pages? Basically I am asking this because we are using new technology for us being webcenter and trying to make it backwards compatible with the oracle portal pages for certain projects rather then recoding.
    Edited by: user609513 on Dec 4, 2008 4:42 PM

    Hi,
    Portal 10.1.4 has WSRP and JSR 168 Standards compatibility, this means that you WebCenter portlets (which are JSR portlets) can be deployed to Portal 10.1.4 pages.
    The page definitions and security will have to be re-created, but all your logic(portlets) will be reused.
    Another alternative is to use the JSF Portlet Bridge feature of Oracle WebCenter to wrap your whole WC application into a portlet and deploy it into portal, check this document:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/webcenter/pdf/owcs_10132_cm_jsf_bridge.pdf

  • JDeveloper Deployment to WLS IPv6 issue

    Hi, I have already written some ADF web app. Now I want to deploy it on Weblogic server.
    I installed and configured almost everything.

    Deploy is finished fine to WLS.

    I think URL is: IPv6
    But i want IPv4 URL. How to do it?

    ok, i did deployed my first EAR file directly from jdeveloper to wls,
    i had to uncheck, application properties, Auto Generate and Synchronize weblogic-jdbc.xl Descriptors During Deployment.
    i had to search the internet for it and found a clue at
    http://udayarocks.wordpress.com/2011/05/07/what-is-the-difference-between-in-deploying-the-adf-application-from-jdeveloper-into-weblogic-server-and-deploying-as-an-ear-file-in-the-weblogic-server
    butt running the deployed application, which was found Marked as Enterprise Application.
    gave me the following errors listed.
    This error (HTTP 404 Not Found) means that Internet Explorer was able to connect to the website, but the page you wanted was not found. It's possible that the webpage is temporarily unavailable. Alternatively, the website might have changed or removed the webpage.

  • Jdeveloper deploy without ascontrol_admin role

    Hi,
    Can anyone suggest how I can enable the deployment of code via JDeveloper among various project groups without giving them an Id that has the ascontrol_admin role?
    I want to used the capability of packaging, deployment etc.. of applications via JDev. but not enable them to login to enterprise manager (for example).
    Thank you for any comments or suggestions.

    Hi,
    Option 1 for less frequent deployments:
    ===============================
    why don't you let them create EAR files, upload them to a specific directory for which you set up a scheduled job that deploys the EAR files using the OC4J command line?
    Option 2 for frequent deployments:
    ================================
    If you need them to deploy directly then an option would be to provide a connection profile to import.
    - Go to View --> Connection Navigator
    - Select Application Server node and choose export Connections
    - Select the connections to export
    Have the developers doing the same except for that they import the exported connection. The password is encrypted and so tehy can't connect to OC4J directly

  • Interesting! JDeveloper deploy to remote server uses HTTP POST

    The documentation clearly mentions that the bpelc ant task only deploys to local server using a file copy. I was wondering how JDeveloper is able to deploy to remote servers. Turns out is just does a HTTP POST of multipart/form-data to upload the BPEL suitcase jar file. Given below is the trace of the POST. Of course, it is all proprietary for now and is not documented. Maybe Oracle can wrap this as a custom ant task?

    If anyone is interested, I've created a custom ant taks to leverage this HTTP post for deploying the BPEL suitcase jar to remote servers. We didn't want to use FTP, as we'd have to change permissions on the files.
    To do this, I've leveraged the oracle.tip.pc.infra.deploy.DeployRemote class. You just have to pass it the path the the jar, server url (http://host:port/deploy/deployProcess.jsp), domain, and password.
    This seems to work fine for us.
