JDeveloper & Oracle XE without ADF?

I work in an Oracle shop with all the goodies, but for home use, I'd like to try JDeveloper & Oracle XE. Unfortunately, JDeveloper does not come with an ADF license except for development/test.
How hard is it to use JDeveloper without ADF for creating basic data-entry forms, when both the database (XE) and JDeveloper are on the same system (a PC running XP in my case)? Assuming this is "reasonable", are there any good tutorials? Everything seems to assume ADF.

While JDeveloper IS heavily oriented toward ADF, it is quite possible to develop everything 'manually'. As a framework, 'all' ADF does is provide the templates and the glue for all the related classes for an application.
It depends entirely on how basic you want to get - for example, do you want to do build the app using basic Swing components? These apps can be extremely suffisticated, but are generally not 3-tier. Then the next step might be 'Web Start'. JSPs invoking PL/SQL server packages is a fair choice for 3-tier. Add a controller and you basically have the beginnings of what ADF provides.
For tutorials - have you looked at java.sun.com (under demos and tutorials) or on otn.oracle.com under Tutorials/JDeveloper (
http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe1013jdev/index.htm)
Are you planning on deploying any of these apps into a production environment, or are they entirely in your environment? I suspect Oracle may not care about your use of ADF as long as there is no money involved ... for example, you are not using the apps to run a business. That, of course, is not a legal opinion (nor do I work for Oracle, so it is not a binding statement.)

  • Error deploying Jdeveloper 10.1.3 ADF application on oracleAS 10.1.2

    Hi,
i have created an application on Jdeveloper 10.1.3 and when i am trying to deploy it on oracleAS 10.1.2 i get the following error:-
java.rmi.RemoteException deploy failed!: ; nested exception is: oracle.oc4j.admin.internal.DeployerException: Unknown assembly root-tag attribute: xmlns:xsi. deploy failed!: ; nested exception is: oracle.oc4j.admin.internal.DeployerException: Unknown assembly root-tag attribute: xmlns:xs
I searched the forum for a similar kind of error. I got the solution for it.
It mentions about jdk and j2ee versions.I changed my project and jdeveloper libraries and jdk's. But still am getting the same error.
I will post this thread in the jdeveloper forum also.
Please could anyone guide me as to how to approach to this particular scenario.
    Thanks in advance.
    Madhur

    Helllo,
By default in JDeveloper 10.1.3 ADF application will be based on J2EE 1.4 specification version, where OracleAS 10.1.2 is based on J2EE 1.3.
So J2EE is not compatible in this direction.
Can you migrate your application server to 10.1.3?
If not you will need to create your application based on J2EE 1.3 standards.

  • Oracle SOA with ADF library

    Hi,
I am learning Oracle SOA with ADF as mentioned in the below URL:-
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/index-095536.html
I want to know what is .jws,.jpr,.jpx files? Whether these are autogenerated files from JDeveloper? What is the purpose of these files? which is not clearly mentioned in the site.
    1) What I found is like, i have "n" number of composite services in "CompositeService" folder with a common .jws file which will hold the configuration (.jpr) of the other composie services, by doing so it does integrate all the services into a single cohesive unit?
    2) There is a "infrastructure" folder which does have .jws with the DB Schema which is commonly used by the composite services? This infrastructure will be referenced in the individual composite services to communicate with the DB?
    3) While deploying it in Oracle WL server, we will create a single .WAR for these composite services and will be deplyed?
    4) The packages javax.xml.ws (for webservices) all these are part of ADF library?
    5) I found that BPEL is the one which orchestrate the services, which is a XML file which will be similalr to common .jws which holds the config for all the composite services? Where exactly it comes to the picture?
    6) Simarly where exactly the SCA and SDO comes to the picture?
Please clarify in respect to the application, which will be of great help.
    Thanks in advance.

Guys, no replies. Please respond. Thanks in advance.

  • Session expired (timeout) without ADF Security using.

    Hello!
I have a problem with my application in which i use own security realization without ADF Security using. I realized custom implementation of javax.servlet.http.HttpSessionListener interface, in which i log session creation and expiration events. On WebLogic I realized customDBMS authentification class. Session timeout defined in web.xml (<session-timeout>5</session-timeout>), in weblogic.xml session timeout not define.
Problem description: when session expired (popup warning displayed before this) and press OK button in popup with session expired warning, I see what no any log about session destroying from my HttpSessionListener implementation, so I cant understand, what session expired and process this event in my servlet filter. So I stay at same page (but without data in tables, coz binding variables in VO queries is not defined). If I am not click OK in the popup and wait about minute, then appear a log message about the destroying the session from my HttpSessionListener implementation. Why is the delay between the appearance of warning session expired and the actual destroying of the session in WebLogic?
I use JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0, application deployed in integrated WebLogic 10.3.5.0

    Hi,
Why is the delay between the appearance of warning session expired and the actual destroying of the session in WebLogic?Because warning is given about 2-3 min before session expire
    That is why
If I am not click OK in the popup and wait about minute, then appear a log message about the destroying the session from my HttpSessionListener implementation.

  • GENERATING ORACLE REPORT IN ADF

    Hi,
i need to generate offer letter for student.
an admin will need to generate offer letter of student bases on their intakeId, branchId, degId, and typeofferletter.
currently im doing this in adf form. from here how to transfer the information in adf form into offer letter template and print it in pdf?

    Hi,
actually there are two questions in one:
1: How to call an Oracle Reports from ADF?
Answer is to use the Oracle Reports URL to request a report. The data submitted by an ADF form could be passed as URL parameters or - if sensitive information is involved - saved in a temporary table for reports to look it up. Have a look at for an option to download the PDF by referenring the Reports URL http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/apirefs.1111/e12419/tagdoc/af_fileDownloadActionListener.html
2: How to generate PDF from ADF
Jasper Reports, BI Publisher or POI are the options people use for reporting in ADF. Jasper Reports and BI Publisher allow the creation of PDF documents based on form content submitted from ADF

  • Including jar file to Oracle-Java without unpacked

    Hi All,
I am writting JAVA classes in Oracle, but I don't know how to include a jar to the Oracle.
I had tried to use loadjava, and the classes inside the jar were unpacked and included successfully.
However, I am doing some cryto things associated with RSA, and if the jar is unpacked, the signature will be broken and I can't use it anymore.
Is there any way to include a jar file to the Oracle system without unpacking it?
In details, I want to include a jar file which contains the signatures and information of the provider "BC" (org.bouncycastle.jce.provider.BouncyCastleProvider) to my code. It works perfectly on Java alone. In Oracle, the compilation error is "cannot resolve symbol "import org.bouncycastle.jce.provider.BouncyCastleProvider".
I am using Oracle 10g Enterprise Release 2.
Please give advices. Thank you in advance.

    From the documentaton:
"When you pass a JAR or ZIP file to loadjava, it opens the archive and loads the members of the archive individually. There is no JAR or ZIP schema object."
This matters because "Unlike a conventional JVM, which compiles and loads from files, the Oracle JVM compiles and loads from database schema objects."
    Sorry.
Do you really need to load the jar? BounceyCastle does offer all the sources for all its stuff. I know it's a lot of pfaffing about but you could just download the SRC zips and the then loadjava each .java file you need. Should be too hard to automate that process.
    Cheers, APC

  • Oracle BAM without Enterprise Link?

Is it possible to install Oracle BAM without Enterprise Link? Make it sense?
Which cases are Enterprise Link necessary and which cases not?
    Thanks in advance
    Ana

Yes definitely, you can very well install BAM without the enterprise link. The BAM installation asks you the components you want to install.
Enterprise link is used to push data into ADC(for the corresponding data objects). You can utilise this component for feeding data to BAM from n number of sources. The only way to send data to BAM ADC w/o using enterprise link is through BPEL sensors. So, in case you are planning to use BAM only with BPEL sensors and nothing else. You can very well skip Enterprise Link installation.

  • Accessing Oracle Server without Installing Oracle Client

    Hi
I work on a linux based server which would be installed with Oracle Server. My problem is that I dont want to install Oracle Client on every client workstation since there are 1500 PCs in my company.
Could anyone help me on this?
Please note that all of the workstation are using Windows Operating System.
    Thanks
    Antony

I do not believe such an animal exists. Since Oracle's wire protocol is proprietary, reverse engineering it is a very significant investment.
If you need to access the Oracle server without installing the Oracle client, can you use the thin JDBC driver?

  • Implement Oracle Streams without having Primary Keys

In our environment, we can't create primary keys so anyone know how to implement oracle streams without having primary keys on the tables.
    Thanks,

You can JOIN tables on any compatible columns or functions (like LEFT (PONumber,10) ):
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms191517(v=sql.105).aspx
BOL: "When the (ON) condition specifies columns, the columns do not have to have the same name or same data type; however, if the data types are not the same, they must be either compatible or types that SQL Server can implicitly convert. If the data types
cannot be implicitly converted, the condition must explicitly convert the data type by using the CONVERT function. "
    LINK:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms177634(v=sql.105).aspx
Typically tables are JOIN-ed on FK-s and PK-s.
