JDK Path

(Quick Introduction)Hello,
I'm new to Java and the programming world, although I'm very fluent with PHP (a scripting language) I've felt somewhat unaccomplished, now I'm studying "information systems" then moving onwards to Computer Science (I'm still pretty hesitant about it).
This is my first time here on the forums, if someone could provide me with more links starting with Java syntax and all its concepts that'd be great.
The problem I'm having right now, the path works, but now commands like "ipconfig", "netstat" are broken. javac and java and other components are working fine, any what might be happening? What should I provide?

To extend morgair post, your post should look something like
Path=C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\;C:\Program Files\sun\jdk1_5\binYou can find the path setting on windows machines by issues the command :
set in the CMD prompt.

Look for parameter "SetJavaHome" in file ODI_HOME\oracledi\client\odi\bin\odi.conf.
Is it correct? Do you have JDK (not JRE !!!) in that dirrection?
I got this error when I used ODI 10 and I had spaces in JAVA_HOME. When I got path into doublequotes it was fixed.

  • OPatch JDK Path

When OEM agent was installed it installed JDK as part of agent:, so there wasn't a need to install seperate JDK (path below)
    C:\ora\oem00\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\agent10g\jdk
When I try to run the OPatch command it gives a "NoClassDefFoundError"

Any idea what needs to be done for the command to work. I know its something to do with classpath and path. Tried setting them to the location but didn't work. Appretiate any help.

  • EP 7.0 Install Problem with JDK path

I’m having a problem with installing EP 7.0 on Solaris. We had Solaris 8 and then performed a fresh install of Solaris 10. Solaris 10 had Java 1.5. When performing the EP install at the step to supply the JDK directory message stating 1.5.0 was not supported. I had to install JDK from 1.4. family. I stopped the install and UNIX group installed 1.4.2_13.  I now receive message that directory /usr/bin is not a valid JDK directory:the java executable is missing. The UNIX team told me this is the valid directory path. I am not sure what the exact problem is. I stopped the install and provided the environment variable JAVA_HOME=/usr/bin and the same problem. Has anyone come across this problem maybe my version is not correct. Any ideas on what could be wrong are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
why are you pointing JAVA_HOME variable to /usr/bin.
JAVA_HOME must always point to the directory where JAVA installation resides. So for you it might be /j2sdk1.4.2_13 if the JAVA installation directory is j2sdk1.4.2_13.
If this does not solve ur problem.
Please let me know the exact step where u r facing with the problem.
    Hope it helps

may i know how do i can set the PATH inside the linux FC2???
i hav try to set the PATH like tis :-
    PATH=/home/seng/Desktop/java/jdk1.6.0/bin
    inside the bashsrc file
but it not work, n make some problem to my PC now..

when you set PATH=/home/seng/Desktop/java/jdk1.6.0/bin the previous entries in your PATH variable is lost. You shoud set it as PATH=%PATH%;=/home/seng/Desktop/java/jdk1.6.0/bin
I think it will work if the path of the jdk bin is right.

    Hi
The path is now managed by Windows 7 and not the autoexec.bat or autoexec.nt files. To change the system environment variables, follow the below steps.
1.From the desktop, right-click My Computer and click Properties.
2.In the System Properties window, click on the Advanced tab.
3.In the Advanced section, click the Environment Variables button.
4.Finally, In Environment Variable window User variables in Techno
Click on Add button and provide below information
    Variable Name: JAVA_HOME
    Value: D:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24
Again Click on Add button and enter below details
    Variable Name: path
    Value: %path%;D:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24\bin;D:\Oracle\Middleware\jre160_24\bin
Again Click on Add button and enter below details
Variable Name: ODI_JAVA_HOME (same jdk location should provide in odiparam.bat file in ODI_HOME\oracledi\agent\bin location)
    Value: D:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24
Note: Better Don't gove jdk path from D:\OdiHome\rcu\rcuHome\jdk\bin. Please give jdk path from Drive:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24 (*eg: D:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_24*) for more details see below URL

  • 32 bit SDDM wants path to JDK home?

I only have JRE - not JDK, which SDDM 32 bit supposedly works with. I've read the other suggestions on how to get around it wanting the JDK path.  I put the JRE path in the conf file, and added java home to the environment variables.  I read somewhere to use Datamodeler.bat which I couldn't find.  Can someone provide me with exact details of what I need to do (other than install JDK)? Thanks!

    Hi Marie,
If you have a PC that can run 64-bit programs, you could download the latest "With JRE" version of Data Modeler 4.0 from OTN
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/datamodeler/downloads/index.html
(This actually includes a 64-bit JDK.)
But to run Data Modeler 4.0 in 32 bit mode, you will need to provide a 32-bit JDK.
Or alternatively you could download the "With JRE" version of Data Modeler 3.3 from OTN
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/datamodeler/downloads/data-modeler-downloads-v33-2057056.html
which includes a 32-bit JDK.  However if you do this you will be missing out on the new features and bug fixes in Data Modeler version 4.0.

I am very new to Oracle installations and I cannot get past the " Please specify a valid JRE/JDK location :" message when installing the SOA Suite.

I also tried pointing the location to the jdk160_29/jre/bin directory created by the SOA installation (again, no spaces in my path). Nothing seems to work.

  • Wrong JRE Runtime Lib Path on Win2K--Admin Server Won't Start

Running Sun One Web Server 6.0 SP6 on a Windows 2000 server, I inadvertently entered a typo in the iPlanet Administration Server's Global Settings, "Configure JRE/JDK Paths" link.
In the "JRE Runtime Lib Path" field I typed "jjk1.3.1_03" instead of "jdk1.3.1_03". Now the Sun One web server won't start, so I can't go into the Administrative Server to fix the Jre Runtime Lib Path. I havent' been able to find any file where I can change that erroneous setting either. Is it a Registry entry?
I also tried adding the correct JRE Runtime Lib Path at the end of the Windows PATH environment variable on the server, but that didn't help.

Yes we checked the Registry settings and fixed the typo in the path associated with the key NSES_JRE_RUNTIME_LIBPATH. That should have fixed the problem, but the Sun One web server still wouldn't start.
Moved to plan B and removed then reinstalled the Sun One web server. Now it starts and all is well.
Thanks for helping everyone. This also raised the issue for us of whether or not we are entitled to individual support from Sun since we paid for the Sun One web server. According to the web site, the answer is NO - unless we pay $3,000 for a support contract. Other vendors who recommended using Sun One with their products say YES. We're still tracking that down.

  • Can't change path to JVM

    Hello all,
I recently installed the latest JDK (jdk1.5.0_14), but when trying to start a server the path defaults to a previous JRE path (jre1.6.0_03), and so I get the error that there is no server VM in that directory.
I've added the JDK path to the environment variable (the original JRE path was not there at all), and even changed all references in the registry.
In the Java control panel I've added the JDK's VM paths (both the root bin and jre folders) for the JNLP on the USER tab, disabling the other JVMs, but can't do anything on the SYSTEM tab.
I'm inexperienced with Java so apologies if I haven't made any sense, or its a simple fix. I'm at a loss to know where it's picking up the path from, and any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Matthew
**Edit. So actually not the latest JDK, just the one that was recommended. Can you run a JDK older than a newer installed JRE?**
Edited by: MattLeach on Feb 18, 2008 8:00 AM

    1. which server are you using?
    2. your server is referring JRE right, while installing the server you was gave the JRE path right, so try to change you JRE location in your server configurations, then your server will point to right JRE,
