Jdk version for jaxp

Can jaxp 1.1 or/and jaxp 1.2 be implemented on jdk1.2? Any different in the deployment from other version?

Can jaxp 1.1 or/and jaxp 1.2 be implemented on jdk1.2?
Any different in the deployment from other version? No as long as you have the right jars it should work
Though it has been tested with jdk1.3 and higher but it still should be able to work with jdk1.2.

  • Setting different JDK versions for Different webapp in Tomcat

    Hi All,
    I have 2 web-applications in Tomcat 5. Now for Java I have j2sdk1.4.2 & j2sdk1.3..
Now One of my application needs j2sdk1.4.2 while other can run only with
j2sdk1.3.. (This is an old project & there are java class package norms - like every class should be in a package to import it now. But earlier it was not strict).
Means this is absoulte for me to run one application with version 1.3 while other with 1.4.
But I can set Java_Home env. varibale only once. How can I tell my each web-application to take thier own jdk version in compiling & running.
    Is this allowed in J2EE/Web-Containers.
Please suggest if there is any such setting which makes it possible.
    THanks you all in advance...
    Manoj

    wouldn't matter if you could.
The package enforcement is NOT something from J2SDK 1.4 but from the version of Tomcat used.
Each Tomcat instance will use the same JVM for all webapps running inside it. You'll need a separate Tomcat instance of an older version for the older webapp (or better yet change it around to the new rules).

  • Stable\Right JDK version for today Applet!

    Dear All,
I have some ideas would like to consult you about :
I'm building a heavy-applet (for big customer) which uses swing, high-qualitiy image and audio processing and many see & hear technologies.
Last time we discuss with customer that we will run that applet with JDK 1.4 and later only, after 1 or 2 years running the applet we found out that
90% of bugs come from 10% users who still using old JDK1.4.xx and JDK1.4.1_xx.
So should I discuss again with custome that we just support the applet running with JDK1.4.2 and later only.
I guess 5% of users will not happy for that
(many reasons : don't want to upgrade to latest JDK, company constraint...),
    - About the plaform (multi-plaform is supported)
    - About the browser (we support all browsers which could allows java plug-in)
Could you please tell me some good reasons that we should use JDK1.4.2 or later for such applet
or still support for JDK1.4 and later because ...(your idea)?
I just would like to find out more information for this case of business.
    Thanks,

Well, I've to support Java-1.1 and up which is REALLY painful - since 1.1 browsers are typically so buggy that you cannot rely on what the API provides.
After some time you get a feeling what could work and what does not and you to do your best.
To benefit from newer APIs introcduced in later versions of java we use reflection, e.g. our applet switches dynamically to VolatileImage-Backbuffer if running on 1.4+, we also have 3 implementations for doing http-connections 1.1, 1.2, J2ME and use our self-written selrialization framework which does not rely on reflection.
Painful but we get great compatibility.

  • What's the right JDK version for windows vista SP1

    Hello guys,
I’m trying to install SQL Developer on my old Windows Vista SP1 but as soon as I run it I got a message: Cannot find a J2SE SDK installed at path C:\Program Files\Java\jre6
I was reading a post and this problem could be solved by installing the JDK. I went to the Java Archive Download website (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javasebusiness`/downloads/java-archive-downloads-javase6-419409.html) and I downloaded 3 versions but none of them are working. There’re tons of them and I really don’t know which one should be the one to be installed in order to get the SQL Developer working. Any chance someone can help me solve this issue?
These are the errors I got when I run the installers:
    Jdk-6u26-windows-i586 – error: D: \Java JDK\jdk-6u26-windows-i586.exe is not a valid Win 32 application. Size of the file downloaded: 7140KB
Jdk-6u26-windows-x64 – error: The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you’re running. Check your computer’s system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64(64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher. (I was quite careless downloading this version cause I know my computer is 32-bit or x86) size of the file downloaded: 69,043KB
    Jdk-6u37-windows-i586 – error: D: \Java JDK\jdk-6u37-windows-i586.exe is not a valid Win 32 application sizeof the file downloaded: 67,756KB
    Thanks loads

    This one should do it.
    http://download.oracle.com/otn/java/jdk/6u38-b05/jdk-6u38-windows-i586.exe
I suspect an issue with your download if you are getting the invalid application message

  • Netweaver SR3 on Linux Enterprise 10 - Which JDK Version

    Hello experts,
we are facing problems installing Netweaver SR3 (Java) on Linux Enterprise. The problem is that the step Import Java Dump hangs and the installation does not continue. According to other forum threads one problem might be a wrong JDK version. We run Linux on 64 Bit AMD.
Could anyone provide a link for the appropriate JDK version for Linux 64 Bit AMD or further informations (SAP Notes, except 716604)?
    Many thanks in advance.

  • JAVA version for NWDS

    Hi ,
I am planning to install NWDS (2004s) on my local machine , I want to know the JAVA version that i can use , Will the NWDS work with JAVA 1.5 ??
    Regards,
    Tarun.

    Hi Tarun,
sure, a JDK 5 compiler defaults to source and target level 1.5 and will thus produce classes that are not compatible with a 1.4 runtime ("Unsupported major minor version 49.0"). What's your motivation for wanting JDK1.5? I'd rather go the other way and use a CE IDE for 04s and then use the lower JDK version for the DC build, at least for the Java compiler.

    Marc

  • JDK 1.4.2 version for Windows Server 2003/x64 on Intel Xeon 64 bit processo

    Hi,
I'm currently installing a SAP Netweaver Server on a Windows Server 2003/X64 (Intel Xeon CPUs).
The server requires a JDK 64 bit with minimum version 1.4.2_09. Version 1.5.0_00 and higher are not supported by SAP.
I have searched on the J2SE 1.4.2 download page and I haven't found any windows 64 bit except for Itanium processors.
SAP mention clearly on its web portal that it supports Windows Server 2003/X64 64bit with Sun JSE 1.4.2 64 bit.
    Any help?
    Thanks,
    adaif

    Hello,
I ran into the same problem searching for the 1.4.2 JDK for Windows x64 platform and found this discussion post. It was helpful!
Could you tell me where to download the JCE policy files from? Do they need to match the same JDK version (1.4.2)?
The Install Guide for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 Java on Windows MS SQL Server says to download the JCE policy files for your platform (Windows x64) from http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads. But I could only find jce_policy-6.zip. Is that the right JCE policy files for Windows 2003 x64 64bit platform for SUN JSE 1.4.2 64bit?
    Thanks,
    Asif

  • How to determine the JDK version required to use a jar?

    Hi all.
I am using a hosted server that uses JDK 1.4.2 and I cannot upgrade the VM. I have been finding it extremely difficult to install web applications on this server since I find that after installing the app, the web server complains the bytecode used in the jar is newer than the VM can understand (or it complains that the app uses JEE servlet or JSP methods it cannot find).
To compound the problem, only about 25% of the sites I've visited that provide jars for download mention the minumum JDK version required to use them. (Some do not mention any system requirements at all besides 'requires Java and a Java application server').
Do any of you know of any tools that can analyze a jar and determine the bytecode version it uses?
(Another helpful tool would be one that can determine the minimum JEE APIs required to run a web app..., but that's probably wishful thinking :)).
    Thanks for your help.
    Michael N. Christoff

The major/minor version of the class file is the way to go.
Also, it's not necessary to write a separate program to get to those. javap prints them out when being passed the -v flag.
Note, however that "JDK version" is not a correct term, as I can create 1.4-compatible class files with a Java 6 JDK (by passing the -target flag to javac). Those won't look any different than .class files written with a 1.4 JDK.

  • BOE XI 3.1 jdk version

    <h4> Hi,
Is JDK1.6 supported for BOE XI 3.1 application server?
According to platform requirements for linux  (page 7)  it seems that  Tomcat 5.5 , jdk 1.5.0_xx is supported.
Of course in the same document there's also written: </h4>
Application Server Incremental Release Support Policy
Specified application servers versions have been successfully tested by Business Objects. Incremental releases of the specified versions defined by the last number in the application server name will be supported as they are made available, but may not have been tested by Business Objects. Exceptions in support will be documented.
    JDK Version Support Policy
JDK major versions are specified to ensure the use of correct version when there are multiple choices provided
by the vendor. Business Objects tests and supports any _xx release installed with a given application server.
    <h4>
So must I assume that Tomcat 6 and jdk 1.6.0_xx is supported?
    Thanks,

With service pack 2 tomcat 6.0 is now supported but you will need to add it as 5.5 still comes packaged with the product. JDK 1.6 was not tested with tomcat per the [supported platforms for XI 3.1 SP2|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/402db6eb-845d-2c10-a38c-aafde85ec769&overridelayout=true]
If using other web/apps that support 1.6 (weblogic or websphere) then 1.6 can be used.
