  • JDK with SQL Developer 3.2.20 Not Latest Version 6 Update

    SQL Developer Team,
Why doesn't the new version 3.2.20.09 have the latest JDK 6 Update 37. It still has Update 35 which has security vulnerabilities.
Also, the download web page here
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/index.html
says it is Update 11 "Windows 32-bit - zip file includes the JDK1.6.0_11"
    Bob S

Why doesn't the new version 3.2.20.09 have the latest JDK 6 Update 37Timing. Update 37 was not available until 10/16. Update 35 (08/30) had only recently been included due to Oracle Cloud requirements.
As a convenience, one of the 32-bit Windows downloads includes a JDK. There is no commitment to provide the most recent update.

Does anyone know what version of JDK being used by JDeveloper 9i? I had a compile error when I compile a Java program using JDeveloper 3.2. This error sits on "frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);" statement. Thanks for any help.
    Attach a program:

  • Problem un updating jdk 6 on Oracle Application Server 10.1.3 on EBS 12.0.4

    Hi All
In Process of upgrading Oracle EBS 12.0.4 to 12.1.1 I updated the $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/jdk to jdk 6u24. After replacing the original jdk with jdk 6u24 when I attempted to start the apps adoacorectl.sh failed with below error.
lld.so.1: /d4/app/oracle/apps/12.0.0/vdd700/web/10.1.3/appsutil/jdk/bin/java: fatal: libjli.so: open failed: No such file or d
    irectory
I followed below steps to update the jdk
    1. extracted the jdk-6u24-solaris-sparcv9.tar.Z to $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/jdk
    2. Copied lib from old jdk to $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/jdk
    3. Copied lib from oldjdk/jre to $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/jdk/jre
    4. The java was not infact in jdk/bin rather it was /bin/sparcv9 so I copied them to /jdk/bin. The same way copied the executables from /jdk/jre/bin/sparcv9 to /jdk/jre/bin .
    PLease help me troubleshoot this.
    Thanks
    Ridhi

don't know what 2 du plz help?

I had a similar problem. Like you I thought that downloading the bundled JDK with NetBeans would be great but after trying the installation on two different machines thinking there was a problem with the machine I opted for downloading the JDK from the Sun site and NetBeans from their respective site. It worked like a charm.

  • JDK 1.6 u12 installation on Windows XP as non-admin user

I am working on a machine which does not grant my user the admin rights. I had wanted to use JDK with Netbeans. The Netbeans was available as ZIP file, but it required pre-installed JDK. I am not able to install JDK (latest version 1.6 u12) as non-admin user. Is this even possible and how?
Operating System : Windows XP (SP3)
    JDK Version : 1.6 update 12
    User : Non-Administrator
    Thanks,
    Akbar.

Contact your admin and ask him to install or to give you local admin rights.

  • OAS 10.1.3 PatchSet 3 on IBM AIX 5.3 installs a 2 year old IBM JDK - why ?

We're running OAS 10.1.3.0.0 on IBM AIX 5.3 and due to some crashing issues OSS recommended to upgrade to PatchSet 3 (so 10.1.3.3.0).
We originally were running OAS with IBM's SR4 of the IBM JDK.
Now after the upgrade to Patchset 3 (on a test machine), the ORACLE_HOME/jdk version seems to be the first release of the v5 jdk from 2005. It's SR nothing ... J2RE 1.5.0 IBM AIX build jclap32dev-20051102 java
It's 2 years old for heavans sake !!!! Not even DST patched.
What am I missing? OAS 10.1.3.3.0 is pretty much THEE most latest version of OAS Oracle has, yet it comes with a 2 year old JDK. Why? This doesn't sound right, why would a company of Oracle stature do this?
Are others experiencing this also? Why doesn't Oracle bundle a more updated JDK with OAS?

    It's not a symlink.
Oracle has a script (jdkfix.sh) and a procedure for upgrading the jdk inside OH/jdk. We went thru this on all our OAS 10.1.2.0.2 enviro's and 10.1.3.0.0.
One metalink note that talks about this is Doc. 272808.1.
Basically, you install the AIX jdk in the IBM /usr directory and then run jdkfix.sh which essentially copies the jdk over to ORACLE_HOME/jdk.
There don't seem to be any Oracle supplied patches for any OAS that upgrades the jdk. Which is a bit wonky.
Here's the ls -l from our prod OAS 10.1.3.0.0 install:

  • JAVA_HOME and JDK

    Hi,
I installed the Java SDK a while ago, how do I check that I have the JDK with it? The reason why I ask is because I want to set the JAVA_HOME variable and not sure where I must map it to? When I installed the SDK it installed everything under C:\Sun\SDK\. I am running Windows XP.
What are environmental variables used for? I am a C# developer and I am new to this Java setup.
    Regards
    Brendan

The compiler with the JDK is called javac and the JVM is invoked with java. You'll find both under the bin directory of your SDK installation.
The JAVA_HOME variable points to your JDK directoryso it'll be the path that you've given. The PATH variable should point to the bin directory under JAVA_HOME so that you can run javac and java and the CLASSPATH variable should be '.' unless you need to add anything else ( like Tomcat's servlet-api.jar).
This link[1] should help you out loads.

  • Https with NWDI

    Hi,
I am trying to setup https connection to NWDI. (Netweaver 7.0)
SSL is enabled on Portal, so I can see it in my browser through https (https://<host>:50001/irj/portal), SLD and NWDI are on the same system.
Now I am trying to connect from NWDS 7.0, Development Configuration Pool URL set to "https://<host>:50001", I've set path to keystore file and ve done some additional configuration according to [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/4c/941f407b402402e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm].
After those steps "Ping server" button under Development Configuration Pool URL gave no results (no error, no success). I've found logs of NWDS with exception occuring on ping server action: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/security/api/certrevoc/CertRevocException.
After placing CertRevocException class in place, NWDS started to give error message on ping action: "Server certificate rejected by ChainVerifier", in log file I see different exception:
!MESSAGE Feb 24, 2011 2:50:31 PM  com.sap.security.core.server.https.V3ChainVerifier.verify... [Thread[main,5,main]] Error: NamingException during CertRevoc access

         at iaik.security.ssl.SSLTransport.getInputStream(Unknown Source)
         at iaik.security.ssl.SSLSocket.getInputStream(Unknown Source)
P.S. I also have NWDS 7.2 on my pc and it can successfully connect to that NWDI server, with same keystore file.

    Hello Kenny,
That was exactly what i've done with NWDS.
That brought me to "Server certificate rejected by ChainVerifier" error.
I changed jce.jar from my JDK with iaik_jce_export.jar, now I have other error: "Unable to open SSL connection to host "<host>:50001". Peer sent alert: Alert Fatal: handshake failure."
Unfortunatly NWDS doesn't give much information about what's happening, so write some code to invoke "Ping server" action and see what's the problem, here is a trace what I've got:

  • Migration from JDK 1.4 to JDK 1.5

    Hi All,
Presently our application is pointed to JDK 1.4 could you pls let us know how to migrate out application to 1.5 we are in "10.1.2.3.0" i.e 10g R2 OAS.
    Regards
    Yeshwant

Before replacing the JDK with a new version, the certification should be checked. This is available at the below link for the various Fusion Middleware releases:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/fusion_certification.html
It should be noted on this page for Oracle products installed with a JDK, you can replace with a newer xx version (e.g. 1.4.2xx) without any problem regarding support/certification. Replacing with an entire JDK (e.g. 1.4.2 to 1.5) is something considered for certification. The only release where this is available is the 10.1.3 release, where the installed 1.5 may be updated to Java 6 and some application specific exceptions. More details in the certifications guides for your release and in the following document:
Java SE (J2SE) End of Life and Oracle Fusion Middleware Policy (Doc ID 952075.1)

  • The type Iterator is not generic; it cannot be parameterized with arguments

Hi all, i have a problem, and i think is a JRE problem
    The error is the following:
If i share a Web JSF Exadel project enterely, with the .classpath, the .project,
ect everything go ok. I can Check out the project
and work with it without problems.
But if i share only the JavaSource and the Webcontent of the same project
and the other files and folders like the .classpath, the .project, the ant folder,
ect are added to the subversion then appear the problem. When i Check out the project and build it (not with shift-alt-x Q but with the Build Project option of the Projec Menu in Eclipse)
appear an strange error that say: "The type Iterator is not generic; it cannot be parameterized with arguments <E>".
If i build the project using the build.xml file that came with the project everything is ok, but when i run the project into the Exadel the error
    appear againt.
The error appear with all the eclipse versions from 3.1 to 3.3 and with all the ExadelStudio Pro versions from 3.5 to 4.0.4 and with the JRE versions 1.5.0_05 and 1.6.0_02
Any idea will be very appreciated.

Hi, i think i found a clue to discover the mistery, i deployed the same .war in the ExadelStudio Pro 3.5.1 tomcat and in the ExadelStudio Pro 4.0.1(and 4.0.4) tomcat in the first one everythink work fine but in the second i get the error i described above.
The ExadelStudio Pro 3.5.1 use Tomcat 5.0 and ExadelStudio Pro 4.0.1 and 4.0.4 use Tomcat 5.5
There are some problem with the new versions of Tomcat?
Something related to the use of an old version of the JVM by default?
There are some problem with the jdk1.5, something related to the posibility that i can't mix code compiled with an old version of jdk with code compiled with the jdk1.5?
Any suggestion will be very appreciated

  • Download error for jdk 1.4

when the download reach 32.2 mb the downloading was discontinued because of downloading error from download site. I tried it the 2nd time same problem.
    edramos1

Well I have Win2000. I am trying to download the JDK 1.4 API, but it gets to about 85% and then thinks its done. The file size is only 30MB, not 37MB. I have Zone Alarm running and will disable it and try again, but I have succesfully downloaded other JDKs with it running and they downloaded fine. I also tried to use Netzip, so if the download failed, I could resume rather than start all over again. Netzip connects and downloads nothing and immediatley comes back and says download was successful. Net zip worked with other JDK downloads , but the 1.4 seems to be giving it a headache.
Anyone else still not having luck. I have tried 3 times. I'll try without zone alarm running and see if that helps.

  • Simple java download bundled with my app -- what link can I use

I have a java app that I'd like to make as easy as possible for people to install and use who don't know about java or don't want to deal with installing a JRE. I built two different setup files, one bundled with a private jre for the app and one that just has the app.
If the user downloads the non-jre-bundled version, and they either don't have a jre or they have a version that's not supported by the app, my insatller will detect this and abort the install with instructions to download a jre or download the bundled verison of the app.
I'd prefer to ask the user's permission to download a private jre automatically in the above scenario. I know how to do this with my installer enviropnment (NSIS), but I can't find a suitable url from Sun that serves this purpose. I need a link that bypasses the licence agreement page and just directly downloads the jre.
I got a url from a sample NSIS script that seems to provide this, but the most recent file is dated June 2005 and points to JRE 5 Update 1.
    The root url is http://dlc.sun.com/jdk/
From there you can see several jre/jdk links for 1.4 and 1.5, but no 1.5 jre or jdk with anything beyond update 1.
Does anyone know of a link I could use to directly download the latest jre 1.5?

If any such site exists, it is in violation of Sun's
current Java license.I'm not a lawyer, but the JRE License Agreement seems to be written in English, so I took a look at it. Paragraph B of the Supplemental License Terms (near the end of the license) would seem to apply, and I've pasted it below.
As I read it, I think you're right that a direct download site is in violation of the agreement. This seems to be the case because item (v) requires anyone distributing Sun's JRE to pass on the license terms. By definition a direct download site doesn't do that.
Having said that, it seems that the site I pointed out in the original post is a Sun site. Apparently they're willing to violate their own license terms. I just wish they'd update the site, so something beyond Update 1 were available for JRE 5.
This is the first time I've ever heard this. I've
seen many people on this forum getting help bundling
the JRE with their app. Note that the Sun license agreement does not preclude bundling the JRE with you app, so long as you obey the stated restrictions.
Excerpt of SUN JRE License Agreement

terms and conditions of this Agreement and restrictions
and exceptions set forth in the Software README file,
including, but not limited to the Java Technology
Restrictions of these Supplemental Terms, Sun grants
    you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited license

  • Could I apply a bug fix as patch without updating JDK?

    Two questions:
We have JDK6 U18 in production. I'm facing a known bug in JDK (http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6550655) which is fixed in 7(b142). I'm assuming that's JDK7 build 142.
Q1: Could someone verify that's a correct assumption, please?
I can NOT simply update JDK to that version (7b142) or latest for that matter; Policies and the fact that currently not all of our applications in production are fully covered with automated integration and unit tests and fully testing them manually with new JDK is not within our budget.
Q2: Could I get that fix and its dependencies as patches from somewhere and update my JDK with them? Is there any other way than updating JDK as a whole?
    Thanks,
    Amir

    I think I found it..
    http://download.java.net/jdk7/changes/jdk7-b142.html
    and
    http://hg.openjdk.java.net/jdk7/jdk7/langtools/rev/dc3d9ef880a1
So if I download JDK6_U18 source and apply the above changes myself and build the JDK again(!), it should work (considering dependency changes are applied, too). Question is how to build JDK?
