JDOM + READING HINDI XML + JUNK CHARACTERS + NEED HELP

MY QUESTION :
The Junk characters you see in below xml are hindi characters. When I change font to DVBW-TTYogesh in notepad I am able to see Hindi text.
When I retreive element's content using getText() of JDOM's Element class I am getting junk characters but not hindi text.
How to retrieve Hindi Text ?

MY QUESTION :

You can use Parsing API of Java.
You can use DOM (Document Object Model) Parser for the same.
So that you will get node name like <name> and also its value as UTS.

1. Get instance of DocumentBuilderFactory as

3. Then Parse the file as

4. Using element class u can get root & usingNameNodeMap you can get attributes for root follows
Element root = dom.getDocumentElement();
NamedNodeMap attrib = root.getAttributes();
5. Get and process children of the current node
NodeList children = node.getChildNodes()
Here u can write recurssive function named traverseTree(Node node)
Firstly, u'll pass root node as a parameter to this function
6. Get childrens of cuurent node
NodeList children = node.getChildNodes();
7. Iterate this 'children' node.
for each child do the following

Can't parse "bad" characters - need help

Hey everyone, this should be simple. I am trying to parse (DOM parser) and XML string that has some funky characters in it. I am getting the following error:
Illegal XML character: & # x 1 d ; (had to use spaces so that it would print out properly...otherwise: 
I have a findAndReplace method that I can use to replace the bad characters with their proper values (copy paste from Word to notepad of single quotes really screws things up), but I can't seem to get it to work. What should I pass in to be replaced? I know that this is a hexadecimal for '29', but I can't seem to get my findAndReplace to work by passing in &#x1d, & # x 1 d ;, or java.lang.String.valueOf(29). Please help, thanks!

there. However, I can not guarantee that it will not
be there as it comes from a different system and
people are pasting Word docs into this system all the
time. You can train people all you want, but they
don't always listen. So, I need to make sure my code
doesn't blow up when the do do this. Hence my issue.I'd follow the GIGO (garbage in, garbage out) principle. Are you also going to need to code it to read their minds when they provide no sensible input whatsoever, like:

Read in xml special characters

How about some sample data? The Url you gave has a space in it and is not public available. What's the error message you got?

Success_URL in web.xml not working - Need help

Hi:
I developed my whole application in Jdeveloper 10.1.3.2 and all the security are done through custom module. Everything is working fine except one of the part that is success_url in web.xml.
1. There are total 10 pages in my application independent of each other.
2. I configured the custom login procedure and it is working fine.
3. From Jdeveloper if I run any page (i.e. one of 10 pages) it is prompting me to login and after login it is redirecting to the page I ran.
My issue is that after the login is completed as in step 3, I want the page to be redirected to predefined page called UserResp.jspx. I don't want to redirect to the page from where the login page was called. As per the notes in the ADF document, I configured the success_url in the adfAuthentication servlet as below. But after login it is not redirecting to the success_url but it is redirecting to the page from where the login was prompted.
Do I need to perform any other step for this success_url to work. Could you please guide.

Hi All:
Thanks for all your help regarding the adfAuthentication success_url. Now I am able to configure to make this work. But now I am facing another issue i.e. I am getting 401 Not authorized message when the success_url is pointed to the jspx page.
Note: I am using custom login module similar to DBProcOraDataSourceLoginModule so my roles are stored in the custom Role class. So I am not sure how to pass this role info to the security in ADF in order to authorize the page to be viewed.
Could you please help and can you point me to any specific link.

XML: Displaying & Storing - Need help

Welcome all,
Have the following problem:
Have an application (no gui) that sends periodically xml messages to a Servlet. This servlet acknowledges the application messages has been recieved.
Now the problems begin:
1) The xml messages need to be added to a database. (I have never stored xml in a database before). When it is received by the servlet it is in DOM document format. Do I store this in the databse as a BLOB?
2) A client interface, preferably web-based needs to be notified that new messages have arrived and then request to view them. It should be able to display the xml messages using xsl.
I need advice about those two points.
With respect to the second one I do not see how I can create a Java based client that can display XML, as far as I was aware JEditorPane supported only HTML.

How about storing XML as text. Then, parse it whenever you retrieve it from the database.
As displaying XML, you can easily create a tree that display the XML using SAX (there's a tutorial on this).
Often, I don't see a good reason to display XML to users directly. Usually, you display some UI that that has the data stored in XML. However, your case can be different.
There could be other methods that are much better than the one I suggested.

I just downloaded the newest version of Adobe Reader to my MAC, I need help now please

The End user license agreement did not appear to sign and accept. So now when I open another site to download pdfs, it says I need to launch Adobe Reader and accept the End User License Agreement, then Quit and relaunch the browser.
I cannot launch Reader to get to the End User Agreement. Can you help me please

Adobe Reader in browser window disappearing-need help

I have created a word document (WD1) containing links to other word documents (WD2, WD3, etc). I then turned WD1 into a .pdf file. I then upload this .pdf file to a web page. I go to this webpage and click the link to open the WD1.pdf file. When I click the WD1.pdf link on the webpage, a new browser window opens with Adobe reader in it displaying WD1.pdf. so far so good. Now when I click on the links to WD2 or WD3, these links open in Word and the correct files display, but the browser window containing WD1.pdf file disappears (thats the best way to describe it) and the first webpage is still open.
What I am trying to achieve is to have the second browser window stay open so the trainees using this web page will be able to click on the other references on the .pdf to get to all of the links without having to re-open it each time.
I have Researched in help and web forums, the only reference I can find is to uncheck the box next to Open cross-documents in the same window in preferences in Adobe. Which I have done and restarted my computer. I also noticed a preference show each document in its own window which is checked.
Here is the other rub, I have a desktop computer (OS is XP) and a laptop (OS is vista). I have Adobe 8.1.2 installed on both. The laptop with vista works the way I would like. But the desktop computer with XP does not. I did have Adobe 7.0.9 on the desktop but when it did do what I wanted I upgraded to 8.1.2 and it still isnt working. The real problem is that most of the trainees will be using their work computers with XP. I dont know even know if there is any significance in this observation or not. But thought I would throw it out there.
Does anyone have any suggestions of things I could try or know of any solutions? Please help.

10.6.4 Woes - Read many threads but still need help!

Howdy all!
Here's the deal, I'm having problems which I can only trace back to the upgrade to 10.6.4. Everything seemed to be fine for a couple of weeks but something happened when I set-up my new office in my house (external monitor, hard drives etc) I've read so many threads and have tried different things but now am at a loss. I'm way out of warranty so I can even go to the Genius bar or will they charge me? Here's the gist.
Symptoms:
A) Long boot on gray screen, once finder is open the system is frozen for like 10 minutes, dock won't pop up etc. Mouse can move but won't click anything. After 10 minutes things seem to be fine.
B) Computer won't wake up from sleep mode (like if I close the laptop cover) but it will wake-up if the display has gone off
C) Firewire seems to no longer work
Here's what I have tried already:
1) Installed the combo update (fresh download)
2) Repaired permissions (several times and it keeps finding them)
3) Trashed my firewire port (no change)
4) Disable airport (and basically what happens when I do this is that instead of waiting 10 minutes with just a mouse arrow, I have a beachball (non-spinning) for 10 minutes which then disappears when the machine decides to work) At one point I had a hazy blue screen over my desktop and that disappeared after 10 minutes but I've only had that happen one time
5) My disk is OK per Disk Utility, and it says its S.M.A.R.T. status is enabled (or whatever it is supposed to say I forget at the moment but I checked it as one thread suggested and it was as it is supposed to be)
6) The machine boots fine in safe mode - though it is still a long boot but you can use it as soon as the finder loads.
7) The only thing I haven't done is zap my pram (will this help?) and how do you do it?
Thoughts? I can roll back to 10.6.3 which I know has pros and cons but at least it works.
My Applecare ran out and I'm pretty broke at the moment so I don't want to pay for support if I don't have to (although it's more than I don't want to spend a lot of time at the Apple Store to find out something I already know - that 10.6.4 is buggy!(

Oh and yet a new symptom - I can't seem to sync my iPhone 3G. I could sync the photos to iPhoto, but not iTunes, it keeps timing out!

Problems with Vista and Reader 8.12 - unusual problem need help

I can't seem to find anyone to help me or any record of someone else having this problem. As soon as I install reader 8.12 on my new system (Vista) it begins 'hijacking' other files. In other words other icons on my desktop (e.g., the icon for AOL IM) turn into PDF icons and so when I try to launch an .exe file - Reader launches instead and of course tells me it can't open the file. This is so maddening. I've installed and unstalled the program several times and have rebooted. I've tried to contact Adobe but they will not provide support, I've contacted Gateway and they say it's an Adobe issue and Microsoft won't speak with me because Vista was pre-installed on the computer. If anyone has any ideas and can assist me I'd greatly appreciate it. For now I just have to leave the program uninstalled and therefore can't open any PDFs.

Developing XML-driven map - need help with function.

Hey all,
I've created a map that loads a bunch of locations, saved
with labels and X&Y coordinates which is all stored in an XML
File. The list is populated into a list component, where a user can
click an item and see the map zoom over to the corresponding
location. This part works fine.
What I'm trying to do now is make it so when you click a
location on the map, it has the same behavior as if you clicked the
same item location in the list. Problem is, I can't figure out to
write that function, so I figured 1000 brains are better than one.
Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

How do i activate my pohe from home? all of the instructions i have read online are not working. need help ASAP!

My iPhone 5 was stolen, and i just recieved my new iPhone 5c in the mail. i turned it on and went through the set up instructions assuming it would lead me to the acivation process but it did not. I now have a phone that works with everything but calls and texts. I looked up online and it said you can activate it through itunes, i downloaded itunes onto my computer and plugged my phone in to it using the USB port and still nothing. will someone please help!

Take the phone into your nearest Verizon store. They will activate it for you. If you really cant do that, call Verizon Customer Service back, explain you've been unable to activate it and have them walk you through it.

Xml slideshow controls, need help!

Hello,
I am new to actionscript and am trying to make a slideshow
with next and previous controls. The info for the slideshow is
coming via xml. I have it up and running but there are two issues.
When clicking on the next or previous buttons the new image will
load but the first image will be present under the new image. So if
you are navigating from image 2 to 3, while image 3 loads, image 1
is visible. The next problem I am having is I would like for the
slideshow to repeat itself once it gets to the end.

Sorry 2 more things.
In the above link to get to the slideshow, click america,
then new england.
And it appears that on the initial load the first image loads
17 times, which is the total number of images in the slideshow.

Poor NAS reading performance in OS X - need help

Ok, this one is a mystery to me and it's driving me nuts.
I have the following computers on my gigabit network:
- iMac (Mid 2010) 27" i7 (Dual Boot configuration, Win7)
- iMac (Early 2006) 20" Core Duo
- MacBook (Mid 2007)
- Dell XPS M1710 Gaming Laptop running Win7
The NAS in question is a DROBO FS equipped with three 2TB Western Digital drives giving me 3.75TB usable storage.
All computers can see and access the DROBO. All computers can mount and use all the shares.
Both the Dell and iMac under Windows 7 seem to be able to write and read the DROBO at speeds as one would expect. Everything works great.
Read: ~35Mbyte/s
Write: ~25Mbyte/s
Once I access the DROBO in OS X however something seems to be causing problems.
Read: ~2Mbyte/s
Write: ~25Mbyte/s
As you can see, the read performance is way slower than it should be. Additionally, it's not a consistent flow of data. Sometimes it will only push 500kb/s then jump back up to around 2Mbyte/s and so forth. It's as if there is something corrupting it or really working against the flow of data.
Since I have my iTunes library stored on the DROBO it makes it virtually unusable and DROBO tech support so far has been useless.

I'm having the exact same problem the original poster described. Drobo works fine (quickly) for both reading and writing on my Windows 7 PC. I can write quickly from my Mac Mini to the Drobo, but can only get 1-2MB/second read speeds. I too have tried direct-connecting the Drobo to the Mini, and that provided the fast speeds I expected. However, I don't think it's a switch issue, because I have both a D-Link gigabit switch and an Airport Extreme base (wired) between the Windows 7 PC and the Drobo. Additionally, I've tried hooking the Mini and Drobo both up to the Airport Extreme (in case the D-Link switch was doing something strange), but got the same issue.
The Mini has all its software updates, the drobo has both firmware and software updated completely. Any suggestions would be most appreciated, the inability to stream movies is making the Drobo almost useless for me.

Need help with swf auto slider...

Hi,
I downloaded a flash auto slider from one site. But I don't
know how tu use it. It has a lot of AS external files. I imagine,
that it should read data from an xml file, and there is AS file,
which calls xml, but I need help, to create that xml, or to show
how to use that auto slider...
This slider is simillar like this one in observer.com main
site (with 4 thumbnails).
