I have started again all the tutorial from the begining, trying to not miss any configuration setting even the ones displayed on pictures, finding that the tutorial example now works. I think the first time i have tryed it i missed to activate the anotations facet in project properties because this configuration step is not explained in the tutorial unless you take a close look into the tutorial images. Probably that was the cause of the mentioned error, not so sure, but the tutorial example really works.

  • Is it a bug in Sun's Tutorial example!!!!

Hello everybody! I donno whether the following Tutorial example code is buggy or not but it won't run under j2sdk 1.4.2 and also under 1.5 as smoothly as Tutorial says(only the 1st line prints but not all). You can find the code:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/essential/io/dataIO.html
    And the file name is:
    DataIODemo
Does anyone know how to make it work?
    Thanks.

The author made a "bonehead" error - s/he hardcoded a newline character ('\n') when writing the invoice1.txt file. Since this is a UNIX/Linux character, it will not cause an error when run there - BUT - when run on an OS that doesn't use that convention - Windows, etc - it results in an incorrectly written file.
This illustrates a code portability problem; don't hardcode!
I leave as an exercise for the reader the correction of the format of the total dollar amount.
A corrected copy is below. //********* preceeds changes. Compare with the original to see the differences.

  • Trouble With Web Services Tutorial Examples

I am having trouble getting the Web Services Tutorial examples to run.
For example, when I compiled the hello1 example, and tried to run it, I got a directory listing. All the directory listing contained was the dukewaving.gif file.
When I tried to run hello2, I got something similar. This time though, there were two jsp files in the listing. By clicking on the first one, I was able to run the application.
Now I can't run the bookstore1 example. I went back a second time, to be sure that I was following the instructions exactly as written. I am gettng an HTTP Status 404 - Servlet BookStoreServlet is not available.
I don't know why this is happening. There were no errors when I ran the Ant targets, and the WAR file did get copied to the webapps directory.
I would be very grateful for any help. I am very new to Java and am finding this very frustrating.
    Thank You,
    Chrissy

Did someone known the problem I have ?

    hi ,
I think u have given other disply name to your J2EE client ,
Anyway check disply name of J2EE client through deploytool.
u have to use that display name to access the j2ee client .
suppose ur j2ee client displyname is testclient, u can use:
    runclient -client ConverterApp.ear -name testclient
    hope this will help u,
    babu.

  • 7009: Test Execution Error with tutorial examples

    Hi,
I tried to run the tutorial files found on EclipseCon 2014 site (the "classic" dvd app test).
Following first steps, after running AUT when I run test cases I always get this error:
    7009: Test Execution Error.
Referenced Testcase could not be found.
What does it mean? Is it a configuration problem?
I am on windows 7 64bit and Jubula 8.1 (the latest version).
The same happens when I try to run other pre-installed example projects.
    Thanks for reply
    Regards
    Matteo

    Hi,
okay, from a first quick look at your Test Case I can tell that the unbound modules concrete 8.0 library is missing in your database used by Jubula. This library is reused in the JubulaTutorial Project but since is does not exist in the database the JubulaTutorial Project is displayed "broken". But don´t worry, this is very easy to fix
    1. Open the Properties for the JubulaTutorial Project
    2. Select node "Used Projects"
    3. On the left hand side you can see which libraries exist in you DB, on the right hand side you can which projects are reused in the currently opened Project
    4. Select the unbound modules concrete 8.1 from the left side and select the unbound modules concrete 8.0 from the right side
    5. Then click the single arrow which points to the right side
    6. Confirm
    7. Fixed

    Hi Azeem.
Check out values specified for JAVA_HOME, PATH and CLASSPATH under environment variable. Was facing the same problem. Changed the values to point to jdk1.5 and it is working now.
    BTW.
You don't have to uninstall jdk1.4.

  • I can't compile the converter tutorial example in J2EE

    Hi,
I was wondering if someone could help me out with this.
I followed the instructions from the tutorial, but still can't use ant to compile the convert.
The following is the error output.
    Many thanks.

When you compile through J2EE it should give no apache type errors. You must of included apache xml cocoon jar files in the CLASSPATH as well later put the j2ee.jar. However j2ee.jar has XML libraries, no need to include other thrid party xml libaries.
Other words its picking your thrid party xml jar files first and using that instead of your j2ee.jar xml libaries.
    Cheers

    Hello All,
I am trying to build the shake sdk example plugins for os x on a mac-pro.
Problem is that when I click on any of the newly appeared SDK->xxx icons, I only get a black screen saying "missing macro" in red.
and in my shell it says,
"error: NRiFxButton1, line 1: unknown function SFileInDialog_
    SFileInDialog_()"
They compile and link went through XCode without errors.
The files look like they are installed in the right place.
When launching shake from shell it tells me that the 'plugins.bundle' and 'registerPluginsUI.h' got loaded ok.
I get new the new buttons in shake(without any icons)
Would anyone know what I might be doing wrong??

  • SDK 4.0.0.5: CM.jar Is Not Copied BUG-cm_jars_structure.xml.example Missing

Could someone please help me out. I am trying to fix this bug with:
SDK 4.0.0.5: CM.jar Is Not Copied into the Package To Be Deployed [ID 1315169.1]
And according to Oracle support I need to:
    Solution
In SDK version 4.0.0, the cm.jar gets copied only in etc/lib folder. In the target environment it gets distributed by executing initialSetup.sh, which is part of the CM installation.
The structures/cm_jar_structure.xml should be created for the cm.jar distribution. You can see an example of the structure under the pkg scripts folder: etc/cm_jars_structure.xml.example (it just needs to be copied to structures/cm_jar_structure.xml). The cm.jar will then be copied to the correct locations in the application.
But I am missing the file cm_jars_structure.xml.example.
Does some have that file please?

    Hi,
Here the comment from the FW_jars_strucure.xml.
