Jgol error with JNLP Applet Launcher

I've been able to deploy my applet with the JNLP launcher and jogl, but whenever I try to use an animator in my program applet crashes with this error. Am I forgetting to add something in the code? Any help is appreciated.

The help here http://pscode.org/janela/help.html really didn't help too much.
The help for that error states:
This one fools a lot of people. It most often means that elements are out of the correct order in the launch file. Check the spelling, then try shifting the element further up the document. Did you check the file against the documentation for creating JNLP files? Did you try reordering the elements? Did you check the spelling of the element name?
Note that those type of errors are produced by the J2SE based XML APIs when validating an XML document against an XSD. That means that there should be thousands of hits across the internet that discuss that error.
Any other ideas?Some:
- Do not expect the people here to spoon feed answers to you.
- Describe what actual methods you used to try and resolve the error, rather than just state the tools are 'not that helpful'.
- Mention whether the JNLP can be launched as a free floating app., like I suggested you try. After all, we are not psychic.
It might be obvious that I am a little irritated by your reply. JaNeLA was primarily written by me, though it has significant contributions from another developer. It was written for the purpose of helping people to validate JNLP files and resources, but the user must be able to think for themselves & do some research, in order to get good use from it.
When I initially saw the thread to do with a problem in regard to the JNLP applet launcher, I was about to pass it by completely. These forums are not for providing support for 3rd party APIs. But since the JNLP was obviously wrong I decided to give you some help on that, in the hope that would solve the problems.
If it doesn't solve the problem, or if you continue with this 'helpless lamb' attitude, I will be opting out of the thread.

  • Error with signed applet "class can't be instantiated"

    hi,
    I developed an applet to make a ftp connexion to upload files from the local disk and the applet is already signed. At first I compiled it with the 1.4 version and I got (from other computers) the error "class not found". Then I used the target 1.1 option and now I get the error "class can't be instantiated"
    Do I need any additional code?

    go to

    Look for "Java (Sun)" (normally near Microsoft VM). I uncheck all the Microsoft VM options but am not sure if that is really necessary.
    Also play with Control Panel, you should see "Java Plug-in" in there and be able to configure browsers a bit with that.

    Thanks for the reply! The clips are being viewed on my laptop's built in monitor. It is an old, as in 2002, G4 Powerbook. As far as the sequence settings are concerned I set it up for 720 x 960, which I believe is the proper setting for the 720/24p footage from the camera. I'm thinking that maybe its the settings for my Powerbook's monitor in that they don't match the sequence? Don't know if that makes sense or not? Let's see since the camera and laptop are away on a shoot I am trying to recall from memory the other settings...anything else you need to know? Again, thanks for writing.

  • FileNotFound error when trying to launch jnlp

    This seems to be a common issue, however after many forums postings and so called solutions it still doesn't work.
    I created a JavaFX app in NetBeans and let it generate the _browser.jnlp for the applet.  I have a friend's website set up through godaddy under www.phoenixsecuritygroupltd.com

    I receive the error shown below when launching a Java

    debugging. There are a number of problems, potential problems,
    redundancies and illogicalities in that JNLP file.
    ...It was developed under Netbeans 5.0. Uh-Huh. I am coming to recognise those
    (damnable) NetBeans JNLP files.
    You can recreate the error I don't think I need to, your error output and JNLP

    1) Whenever you see a message from Java,
    JavaWS, or an application saying words the the
    effect of 'cannot find..', try checking the URL of the
    resource in a browser. If a browser comes
    up '404' (not found), then the Java tool or app.
    will be unable to access it either.
    That is the first and fundamental problem with that
    JNLP. The DOCTYPE element is not strictly needed
    in a JNLP, and I would recommend removing it entirely
    rather than try and hunt down any NetBeans DTD.
    With the way NB writes JNLP's, I would not trust
    a DTD written or controlled by them, in any case.
    App JNLP File
    ===========OK.. I recommend replacing the current JNLP
    with the one below, here is a summary of the
    changes I made..
    - removed DOCTYPE line with reference to '404' DTD
    - compacted resource elements, removing empty attributes
    - changed ztest17.jar to main='true'
    - removed redundant 'download="eager"' attributes as well
    as main="false" and version="" from swing-layout.. jar element
    - removed broken(?) <icon> element and empty <description>
    - changed homepage href to relative
    Some of them are guesses, but I'd give it a 90%+
    chance of working, if written like this.

    it contains a manifest file tat specifies the main class,
    so it might be possible to remove main='true'
    altogether - best not for the moment, though.

  • How to start an applet offline with JNLP?

    I want my applet to work offline. It uses Java3d and that is why it needs JNLP. I have made sure that it doesn't make any network connections. I have also put the JNLP file that it uses, java3d-latest.jnlp in the same directory as the applet. It finds this jnlp file, but it doesn't find the applet-launcher class. I get "java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.jdesktop.applet.util.JNLPAppletLauncher". • Cannot start JNLP applet on IE 9 64 bits (replicated)

    Hello,
    I made a post on the "Applets" section of the forum, but after further search I think it should have been here, so I leave the link
    Cannot start JNLP applet on IE 9 64 bits

    To any moderator, feel free to delete this thread and move the one posted above to this section

    1) Make sure you have correct version of JRE installed. Need 32 for 32 bit browser and 64 bit otherwise.
    Check list of installed plugins in IE to see if java plugin is listed.
    2) Make sure java plugin is enabled for IE in the Control Panel.
    If UAC is on then you need to run Java Control Panel as administrator for settings to take effect.
    3) Create small bat file to launch IE:
    set JPI_PLUGIN2_DEBUG=true
    <path-to-ie>\iexplore.exe
    Close IE and launch using this file. Try to open any applet, you should see window with trace log. Does it mention any errors?

  • Problem with JOGL applet on Windows and Linux

    I made a simple test applet using JOGL involving a simple animation and a KeyListener. It put it on a web site, and it loads and runs correctly on my Mac, but it gives a blank box with a red x in it on Windows and Linux. Here is the code that I used to deploy the applet. I based it off the sample from https://jogl-demos.dev.java.net/applettest.html

  • Trying to Imitate the html POST  method with an applet

    I am trying to imitate the POST method with an applet, so that I can eventually send sound from a microphone to a PHP script which will store it in a file on a server. I am starting out by trying to post a simple line of text by making the PHP script think that it is receiving the text within a POST-ed file. The reason I am doing things this way is in part because I am, for the time being, limited to a shared server without any support for servlets or any other server side java.
    The code I am trying is based in part on an old thread found elsewhere in this forum, concerning sending data to a PHP file by imitating the POST method:
    link:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=530399&messageID=2603608
    someone named "harmmeijer" provided most of the answers on that thread. If that person is still around hope they take a look at this,also I have some questions to clarify what they said on the other thread..
    My first attempt at code is below. The applet is in a signed jar file and is trying to pass a text line to the PHP script in the same directory and on the same server that the applet came from. It is doing this by sending header information that is supposed to be identical to what an html form would send if it was uploading a .txt file with the line of text within it. The applet displays one button. When you press it, it sucessfully starts up the postsim method (defined at the end), which is supposed to send the info to the PHP script at the server.
    I have two questions:
    1) I know that the PHP script is starting up, because it prints out a few messages depending on what happens. However, the script does not recognize any file coming down the line, so it does not save anyting on the server, and prints out a message saying the no file was uploaded.
    Any idea what might be going wrong? I'm not getting any error messages from the applet. I've tried a few different variations of the 'header' information contained in the line:
    osToServer.writeBytes("--****4353\r\nContent-Disposition: form-data; name=\"testfile\"; filename=\"C:testfile.txt\"\r\nContent-Type: text/plain\r\n");
    The commented out line below it shows one variation (which was given in the thread mentioned above).
    2) You'll notice that I've commented out the two lines having to do with the input line:
    //InputStream isFromServer;
    and
    //isFromServer = uc.getInputStream();
    The reason is that the program crahes whenever I put the latter line in - to the extent that Opera closes down the JVM and then crashes when I tried to exit it.. I must be doing something horribly wrong there! I first tried using isFromServer = new DataInputStream(uc.getInputStream());
    becuase it was consistent with the output stream, but that caused the same problem.
    Here's the code:
    public class AudioUptest1 extends Applet{
    //There are a few spurious things defined in this section, having to do with the fact the microphone data is evenuatly going to be sent. haven't yet insterted code to get input from a microphone.
    AudioFormat audioFormat;
    TargetDataLine targetDataLine;
    SourceDataLine sourceDataLine;
    DataOutputStream osToServer;
    //InputStream isFromServer;
    URLConnection uc;
    final JButton captureBtn = new JButton("Capture");
    final JPanel btnPanel = new JPanel();
    public void init(){
    System.out.println("Started the applet");
    try
    URL url = new URL( "http://www.mywebsite.com/handleapplet.php" );
    uc = url.openConnection();
    //Post multipart data
    uc.setDoOutput(true);
    uc.setDoInput(true);
    uc.setUseCaches(false);
    //set request headers
    uc.setRequestProperty("Connection", "Keep-Alive");
    uc.setRequestProperty("HTTP_REFERER", "http://applet.getcodebase");
    uc.setRequestProperty("Content-Type","multipart/form-data; boundary=****4353");
    osToServer = new DataOutputStream(uc.getOutputStream());
    //isFromServer = uc.getInputStream();
    catch(IOException e)
    System.out.println ("Error etc. etc.");
    return;
    //Start of GUI stuff
    captureBtn.setEnabled(true);
    //Register listeners
    captureBtn.addActionListener(
    new ActionListener(){
    public void actionPerformed(
    ActionEvent e){
    captureBtn.setEnabled(false);
    //Postsim method will send simulated POST to PHP script on server.
    postsim();
    }//end actionPerformed
    }//end ActionListener
    );//end addActionListener()
    add(captureBtn);
    add(btnPanel);
    // getContentPane().setLayout(new FlowLayout());
    // setDefaultCloseOperation(EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
    setSize(250,70);
    setVisible(true);
    }//end of GUI stuff, constructor.
    //These buffers might be made larger.
    byte tempOutBuffer[] = new byte[100];
    byte tempInBuffer[] = new byte[100];
    private void postsim(){
    System.out.println("Got to the postsim method");
    try{
    //******The next four lines are supposed to imitate a POST upload from a form******
    osToServer.writeBytes("--****4353\r\nContent-Disposition: form-data; name=\"testfile\"; filename=\"C:testfile.txt\"\r\nContent-Type: text/plain\r\n");
    //osToServer.writeBytes("Content-Disposition: form-data; name=\"testfile\"; filename=\"C:testfile.txt\"\r\nContent-Type: text/plain\r\n");
    //This is the text that's cupposed to be written into the file.
    osToServer.writeBytes("This is a test file");
    osToServer.writeBytes("--****4353--\r\n\r\n");
    osToServer.flush();
    osToServer.close();
    catch (Exception e) {
    System.out.println(e);
    System.out.println("did not sucessfully connect or write to server");

    Hi All,
    I was trying to write a signed applet that helps the
    user of the applet to browse the local hard disk and
    select a file from the same. The JFileChooser class
    from Swing is what I used in my applet. The problem
    is with the policy file. I am not able to trace the
    exact way to write a policy file which gives a total
    access to read,write,delete,execute on all the drives
    of the local hard disk.
    I am successful in signing the applets and performing
    operations : read,write,delete & execute on a single
    file but failing to grant permission for the entire
    file.
    Any help would be highly appreciated.Which policy file are you using? there might be more than one policy file.
    also, u have to specify the alias of the signed certificate in the policy file to grant the necessary priviledges to the signed applet.

  • Error 0x80070490 trying to launch VM without SCVMM on Windows 2008 Server R2

    Hello everybody,
    I get a weird issue trying to launch a VM.
    This is the current situation : I get a server, Windows 2008 R2. I've only install Hyper-V and Failover Cluster. I can create a VM but when I try to launch it, I get an error message into a popup (translated from french) : "The application encountered
    an error during modification of 'vm_name' state". "'vm_name' could not be initialize". "Could not initialize machine remoting system. Error 'Element not found'. (0x80070490). "Could not find a usable certificate. Error: 'Element not found'. (0x80070490)."
    So, I'm unable to launch my vm's.
    I'm not using SCVMM yet. I want to resolve this issue before.
    I read some articles and posts about SCVMM certificate issue but I'm not using SCVMM.
    More fun, I read articles about this issue but on Windows 2008 Server (not R2) : problem resolved by a fix, unapplicable on my Windows 2008 R2 :)
    I'm totalyblocked and ain't got no idea how I can resolve it.
    If someone gets I idea ...
    Cheers,
    Nicolas

  • Error with iPhone app download, now can't find or open app

    I recently tried to download an app on my iPhone 4S.  There was an error with my phone mid-download.  After a restart, the app is nowhere to be found on my phone, but I cannot re-download the app, as the app store thinks it is already on my phone.  When I go to the store to re-download, the "Open" button is present (instead of the "Download" button), but when clicked, nothing happens.  Syncing iPhone to a computer with iTunes also does not solve the problem, as the app doesn't appear in iTunes either.
    I've tried restarting, hard resets, etc. to no avail.  Suggestions?

    When you launch iPhoto with the option key depressed you'll get this window:
    Click to view full size
    All libraries on your hard drive (and on external drives) will be listed and the currently used library will be listed as (default).
