Cannot start JNLP applet on IE 9 64 bits (replicated)

Hello,
I made a post on the "Applets" section of the forum, but after further search I think it should have been here, so I leave the link

1) Make sure you have correct version of JRE installed. Need 32 for 32 bit browser and 64 bit otherwise.
Check list of installed plugins in IE to see if java plugin is listed.
2) Make sure java plugin is enabled for IE in the Control Panel.
If UAC is on then you need to run Java Control Panel as administrator for settings to take effect.
3) Create small bat file to launch IE:
set JPI_PLUGIN2_DEBUG=true
<path-to-ie>\iexplore.exe
Close IE and launch using this file. Try to open any applet, you should see window with trace log. Does it mention any errors?
Please paste content here if you need further help.

  • Cannot start JNLP applet on IE 9 64 bits

    Hello,
    I have an Applet that launches using JNLP with version control and compression activated.
    The Java VM correctly starts and launches the applet in all platforms: Linux, Mac, Windows 7 32 bits in all browsers, and Windows 7 64 bits in all browsers except IE 9. In IE 9, the VM doesn't even start (or it's too fast for me to see the console).
    Has any one experienced this before?
    Thank you
    Cad
    Edit I am using Tomcat 7 and Java 1.6.26, both 64 bits

  • Compiling on xp is no problem but I cannot start my appletviewer

    I can compile on xp but I cannot start my applets, in DOS
    example :
    c:\BIN> appletviewer balloon.html
    c:\BIN>
    After this nothing happens..
    I mean it does something but it does not start the applet.
    I tried everything looking up in the advanced browser configuration but could not find any problems there.
    It does compile and seems to accept the appletviewer command but does not execute it like it is supposed to.
    I really hope that u or someone else has a solution to this problem.

    Hello abbas_bokhary,
    Have you tried running some of the standard demo Applets with appletviewer? Or have you run your Applet with Netscape Browser?

  • Cannot find file when starting jnlp from browser

    First of all, im not a web guru, so sorry for my weak knowledge on that part.
    I have a swing application packed in a war file.
    In the root of war file i put my jnlp, html that links to jnlp, and jar file. (everything created with NetBeans)
    But there is also a directory "data" inside war where i hold some files.
    My application is accessing those files at runtime. (those are save files for my game)
    So, when i start jnlp directly everything is fine, but when i start jnlp through html link, i got error message:
    SEVERE: null
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: data\options.data (The system cannot find the path specified)
         at java.io.FileInputStream.open(Native Method)
         at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(Unknown Source)
         at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(Unknown Source)
            ...Java Web Start starts correctly, i can see my first panel of the application, but when i proceed (application tries to load save file), it can not find that file (options.data) obviously.
    How is it possible that everything works fine when i start jnlp directly, and it fails when i start it through the browser?
    What is the problem here?
    Thanks for the help!

    Adoendithas wrote:

    Of course the JRE is not going to find a data\options.data on my PC, which is where it will look for it, if your software is running on my PC. Resources for JWS projects must either be available as an URL from the server, or downloaded locally to the user's local file system before they can be used as files. Why it fails to find it on your PC is probably that the 'root path' (the default directory at time of invocation) that is prefixed to data\options.data is different between running it off the local file system, and running from HTML. To say for sure, I would need a lot more information on how you are launching it when 'running locally'.
    A major question here is, does the software merely read the data in options.data, or does it actually need to update (i.e. write to) the options.data?

  • How to start an applet offline with JNLP?

    I want my applet to work offline. It uses Java3d and that is why it needs JNLP. I have made sure that it doesn't make any network connections. I have also put the JNLP file that it uses, java3d-latest.jnlp in the same directory as the applet. It finds this jnlp file, but it doesn't find the applet-launcher class. I get "java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.jdesktop.applet.util.JNLPAppletLauncher". I try to solve this by putting the applet-launcher.jar in the same directory as the applet, but it still doesn't find the applet-launcher class. What can I do to make the applet start offline?
    I need it to work offline, because I am going to make a screensaver from the applet. This is the applet code in the page:
    <applet code="org.jdesktop.applet.util.JNLPAppletLauncher"
    width=100%
    height=100%
    archive="astrals.jar,

    <param name="jnlpExtension1" value="file:/C:/java/3dflower/build/classes/java3d-latest.jnlp">
    <param name="progressbar" value="true">
    <param name="noddraw.check" value="true">
    <shortcut online="false">
    </applet>
    You can view my 3d applets here, they work online:
    http://astral.mobile-visuals.com/3d_visuals.php

    I think you can do that you have to use a combination of javascript and html. use the Onclick event handler to call a java script function let say startApplet and in this function open a new window and write the <html><applet code= width= height=> </applet> </html> in that window and you will be able to start your applet that way.

    [22:10:08.140] deactivating session

    Could anyone help me to figure this out? Thanks.
    Edit:
    I have also tried running `swc-launch -- velox`, and get the following error:
    Running on /dev/tty2
    velox: error while loading shared libraries: libinput.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    Server exited with status 127
    Restoring VT to original state
    So, perhaps I am having some libinput trouble. Does this seem correct?

    Seems that the problem lies in libinput. Maybe you can report that upstream. I suggest you recompile libinput with debug info and do not strip the binaries to obtain better backtraces.
    Well, that's a different problem. libinput has several soname bumps because of API and ABI incompatibility. You have to rebuild swc against the newest libinput. (Although I'm not sure if swc developer updated the code to new API)
    Edit 2:
    Just to tack this on here for `gnome-session --session=gnome-wayland --debug`
    I'm not expert on this, it may be related to libinput problem. If you don't include GDK_BACKEND=wayland environment variable when launching gnome-wayland.

  • Dragged JNLP Applet restarted from desktop has no window decoration

    Hi
    I have a problem with a draggable JNLP Applet. I can drag it out of the browser and it gets
    installed without problems. I have added extra code to get a window decoration as soon as
    the drag starts. All that woks fine but when I close the applet and later start it again via
    the desktop short-cuts, the applet can only be moved with the Alt-Key and the applet does
    not have any window decoration anymore. Can anybody tell me what is going wrong here?
    I have noticed that an other example which I have found here
    Link
    seems to show the same frustrating behaviour. I have tested with jdk 1.6 update 24 on
    Windows XP and 7. Is it possible that this feature is broken by one of the last updates of Java?
    Example code can be found here: Link
    Many thanks in advande

    The help here http://pscode.org/janela/help.html really didn't help too much.
    The help for that error states:
    This one fools a lot of people. It most often means that elements are out of the correct order in the launch file. Check the spelling, then try shifting the element further up the document. Did you check the file against the documentation for creating JNLP files? Did you try reordering the elements? Did you check the spelling of the element name?
    Note that those type of errors are produced by the J2SE based XML APIs when validating an XML document against an XSD. That means that there should be thousands of hits across the internet that discuss that error.
    Any other ideas?Some:
    - Do not expect the people here to spoon feed answers to you.
    - Describe what actual methods you used to try and resolve the error, rather than just state the tools are 'not that helpful'.
    - Mention whether the JNLP can be launched as a free floating app., like I suggested you try. After all, we are not psychic.
    It might be obvious that I am a little irritated by your reply. JaNeLA was primarily written by me, though it has significant contributions from another developer. It was written for the purpose of helping people to validate JNLP files and resources, but the user must be able to think for themselves & do some research, in order to get good use from it.
    When I initially saw the thread to do with a problem in regard to the JNLP applet launcher, I was about to pass it by completely. These forums are not for providing support for 3rd party APIs. But since the JNLP was obviously wrong I decided to give you some help on that, in the hope that would solve the problems.
    If it doesn't solve the problem, or if you continue with this 'helpless lamb' attitude, I will be opting out of the thread.

  • Java Web Start (JNLP) getResource return null.

    I have a Java Web Start Swing application and with the Java version 1.6.0_u27.
    same code run from jdk1.1.8 to jdk 1.6, more then 10 customers it's work fine, java web start only run on jdk 1.4.0 and jdk 1.5.0.
    just migrate one customer from Java version 1.5.0_u6 to 1.6.0_u27.
    sometimes, the getResource will return null, when system return null, then system cannot get any other resource, always return null.
    It only happen in Java web start environment, work fine in command line (java/javaw), and same as the WebStart loses resources post,
    "Unfortunately this cannot be reproduced easily. Sometimes this happens after some minutes, sometimes the application can be used for days without problems.",
    note. all of my resource files put in the same jar file, one resource file in that jar get fail, all files will be fail.
    after I get the url, I will use new BufferedInputStream(url.openStream()); to retrieve data, never use the File object.
    for example, get resource from "/path/a1.xml", "/path/a2.xml"....... 30 minutes pass, get same file "/path/a1.xml" will return null, then all resource will return null.
    URL url = getClass().getResource(s);
    if(url == null) {
    System.out.println(getClass().getResourceAsStream(s)); // also null, log only
    // if the url == null, the following retrieve will be null
    url = Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResource(s);
    if(url == null){
    System.out.println(Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(s)); // also null, log only
    ClassLoader loader = getClass().getClassLoader();
    if(loader == null){
    loader = ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader();
    if(loader != null) {
    System.out.println(loader.getResourceAsStream(s)); // also null, log only
    url = loader.getResource(s);
    if(url == null) {
    System.out.println("URL resource still can not found!!" + s);

    I ran into the same problem with JNLP and IE.
    Here is the trick I am using to make IE think that it is dealing with "real" .jnlp file. This works on JBoss-3.2.1/Tomcat-4.1.24 bundle.
    In web.xml:
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>fakejnlp</servlet-name>
    <description>jsp that generates JNLP on the fly</description>
    <jsp-file>start.jsp</jsp-file>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>fakejnlp</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/start.jnlp</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    Now, when you request start.jnlp (perhaps, with HTTP parameters), you end up executing your start.jsp. IE is happy. One limitation, though: if you need to pass parameters, there should be no href attribute in <jnlp> element.

  • "Device Cannot Start - Code 10" - Windows Vista Error, w/ 2nd Gen. Nano

    I'm having trouble with my Nano and Windows Vista. The computer is recognizing the iPod just fine and seeing all of my songs, but nothing will play and the diamond bar does not move. I can't hear previews online either.
    Under device manager, a yellow "!" shows up for the iPod, and it says "Device Cannot Start - Code 10" when I check. All of my drivers and updates are current as of today. So is iTunes. Any thoughts?
    It worked before, but now it's not.

    This is a reasonably common error on a PC when there is a problem with either a USB device, your USB cables or hardware, or the system drivers.
    In a case where, as you say, the device works properly with other computers, the problem is more likely to be with the hardware or drivers on the computer you're trying to connect to.
    See this site for some hints:
    http://www.pchell.com/hardware/usbcode10.shtml
    I found it via a web search; I don't have any connection to that site.
    The good news is that your iPhone is probably fine.

  • Audacious, skin problem. Cannot start.

    Hello.
    I just installed Audacious player, but I cannot start it. When I try to run the player, I get the following error message:
    Unable to load skin.
    Check that skin at '(null)' is usable and default scin is properly installed at '/usr/share/audacious/Skins/Default'.
    I have the default skin in /usr/share/audacious/Skins/Default directory. I do not know what the first part of the message means (Check that skin at '(null)' is usable...). Can someone give me a hand.
    I do not know what else information to post. If you need to know anything for my system, I will post the info. I have Arch GNU/Linux Core Dump, kernel: 2.6.24-ARCH. The system is installed as "Basic", I am using fluxbox ... If you need anything else ...
    Regards.

    OT: I'm sorry. I just couldn't help laughing at the subject, which makes perfect sense within the Linux context but which sounds truly bizarre otherwise.
