Jittery display due to network delay for streamType=live

Hi,
We are using OSMF(Strobe Media Player) that becomes jittery as the network delay between the player and the publisher of the livestream increases. A Red5 media server publishes the RTMP stream produced by an ffmpeg instance to the player.
When the player and Red5 are in the same room, the video display is smooth; when the client is in a different room (same building), the video either displays faster or it freezes and when it recovers, it displays faster than normal.
We believe this is due to our inappropriate values for our player settings.
Our settings are as follows:
bufferTime=0
initialBuffer= 0
expandedBuffer=0
optimizedBuffering =false
When buffering is inactive, the display becomes faster than normal.
When we allow buffering, the display keeps on freezing and then displays faster when it recovers.
Any and all suggestions are much appreciated.

Hi,
You should be able to find the default parameter values in setup.html.
For live, it is liveBufferTime or liveDynamicStreamingBufferTime, depending on the type of your asset.
My suggestion is to start from 4-10 seconds and tweak from there.

  • Using time delay for displaying tooltips

Hi guys, hope you are all fine,
I have a little problem, i need to use time delay for displaying a tooltip for a specific amount of time but i don't know what code to use.
Can you please give me a hand? I also try to find out the right way on how i can use tooltips when using a Jpanel and paintComponent. I amcurrently using setXORMode but this is not too efficient.
    Thanks guys,
    Regards,
    John.

Ok guys, for any other who need this info, you get time delay by this:
    try {
    Thread.sleep(time);
    } catch (Exception e) {}
// in "time" you put an integer value which represents milliseconds

  • Portal failed to access remote resource due to network failures

    Hi,
We have a portlet that allows users to upload files to a SQL Server database and make it available for other users to access. The portlet code is on our remote servers. Everything works fine in dev environment, but certain files fail in pre-prod and prod within the portal, but work fine when the code is executed outside the portal.
    I keep getting this error:
Error - Portal failed to access remote resource due to network failures. Try again later or contact your portal administrator.
    What could the problem be?
    Thank you for your help.

If the Studio service looks good on the remote server where Studio is installed (check that
the service is started and look in the Studio logs for any warnings or errors), you should
also verify the configuration settings in the Studio remote server object. Is it properly
configured and pointing to the correct remote server?
If so, check the portal servers access to the Studio server via the port specified in the remote
server (default is 11935). You can test this by doing a telnet test on the portal server. In a cmd
prompt (Windows) or on the CLI (Unix), type 'telnet [studioserver] 11935', where "<servername> is
the name of your Studio remote server. The screen should just go blank, meaning that there is
something accepting connections on that port on the given server. (We would hope it's the Studio
app and not another service occupying that port.) If you get "Could not open connection to the host"
or some such similar result, check that the network between the portal and the Studio remote server
is open (ie, make sure there isn't any port blocking or a firewall in place that would hinder the
    communication between the two servers).

  • The Game Center is "unable to load data due to network connectivity issues or errors".

The Game Center is "unable to load data due to network connectivity issues or errors".
My internet is fine: all other apps that do not rely on the Game Center work, as does my browser and other online functions; additionally, a friend's iPhone connects to his Game Center perfectly while he is sitting next to me.
Closing the Game Center app and then reopening it is ineffective. Opening the options for the Game Center in the settings, logging out of my Apple ID, then logging back in, and then reopening the Game Center is ineffective. Opening the options for the Game Center in the settings, logging out of my Apple ID, then reopening the Game Center app and logging back in from there is ineffective.
This issue has gone on for more than a month, and so the phone has gone through all variations of "turn it off then back on again, refresh the system, etc etc" that are the basic first suggestions for trouble shooting.
One game app, which required a Game Center profile to launch, stopped working entirely, and would return a message saying something like "connect to the Game Center". I eventually deleted it to free up space. Other games which can be linked to the Game Center to connect with friends simply fail to link, returning "Game Center unavailable". This is the aspect that is currently bothering me the most: I cannot play games with friends unless the app can also link to Facebook and connect to friends from there.
When I open the Game Center, I see the following screen. The bubbles float gently, and it seems as if I had the ability to update my "status". However doing so results in a message that has vanished once the app is reopened.
Upon tapping Games, either the bubble from the main screen or the option on the ribbon at the bottom, the following screen appears. Clicking on Challenges shows a message that achievements must be viewed to issue a challenge. Clicking achievements results in a message that games must be connected (and from my friend's phone I know I have several apps that should appear).
Upon tapping friends, it does show me a list of suggested friends pulled from Facebook, but attempting to send a friend request results in the following screen. After accepting the error box, the "send" button for the request is grayed out and unavailable regardless of adding or deleting friends and/or an accompanying message.
In short, the Game Center is completely unresponsive for no discernible reason, and this problem began with no warning and is now long term. Though my iPhone is older (a 4s), my friend's is even older (a regular 4) and works fine.

I am having the very same problem on my iPad running ios 7. All is fine on my iPhone it opens no problem - this is running on ios 8. I wish they would fix it.

  • Networked library for multiple users

Hi there. I'd like to use networked drive (a Snap server) to store all iTunes media for 2 or more users, accessing this drive from multiple computers (both Windows and Mac). What's an appropriate solution and are there significant limitations to doing this? For example, if one of us copies a CD to the library, is there a way to make sure it will be available to other users? If one of us buys music or videos from iTunes, is that only available to that user on his or her iPod? If this has been covered in depth I would be glad to read that topic.

Yes it has been covered many times.
Anything added by one user will not be automatically added to other iTunes accounts but will be addable. Purchases from stoe can be added to multiple libraries as long as they are authorized to use the account that makes the purchase. I my case we both use the same iTunes account to make purchases but only the person logged in gets the file added to library during downlaod. The other has to add to library to use it.
In Windows the most reliable method is to create folder on NAS then map the folder to a drive letter. Set iTunes to store library there. ALWAYS make sure computer has mounted drive and it is available for use before opening iTunes otherwise iTunes will default back to standard library location in My Music. Some have reported this change must be fixed manually but I have not experienced this. All I have had to do is close iTunes, mount share folder, then open iTunes again.
iTunes response will be slower than normal due to network being slower than internal drive interface. I have found play to be fine but scrolling through library and editing tag info to be slowed down. For me the slower response gets longer the bigger the file is.

    Hello all,
    Symptoms:
The Configuration Manager only shows the following actions:
    Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle
Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
    Software Updates Deployment Evaluation Cycle
User Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
In Software Center there are no applications visible. Also the default 'IT Organization' is shown instead of the 'real' name.
    The Confugration Manager:
shows in the tab 'General' the correct Management point. Connection type is 'currently intranet' (ok)
shows in the tab 'Site' the correct site code.
shows in the tab 'Components' all components as either 'installed' or 'enabled'. Only CCM Notification Agent shows 'Disabled'.
In SCCM 2012 under 'Client Settings' -> 'Default Settings' -> 'Client Policy' the setting 'Enable User policy on clients' has been enabled.
    Done so far (without success):
    Re-installed the MP
Run a query on the SCCM Database to check if there are any corrupt records. There are not.

  • Asset values cannot be displayed due to missing text

    Hi guru's,
I am facing the problem while i am displaying the asset values,i am able to create asset through as91 but when i go for awo1n system showing error" Asset values cannot be displayed due to missing"
    help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Hi Vyas,
I am getting error like below.
Asset values cannot be displayed due to missing texts
    Message no. AY363
    Diagnosis
The values of the selected asset cannot be displayed. Text elements are missing in logon language EN.
    System response
    Processing is terminated.
    Procedure
First, check if you are logged on in a language that is maintained for this system.
This error can also occur, if the company code of the selected asset is assigned to a chart of depreciation that is not fully maintained.
In many cases, the problem can be corrected by re-importing the missing texts from the reference chart of depreciation. You can do this using repair program RACORR14. Refer to SAP note 0773639 for more information.
    Thanks
    Ravi

Several minutes after it puts display to sleep, network get disconnected.

No mother if its connected by cable or wifi, it get disconnected.
In Energy Saver properties "Computer sleep" is set to "Never" and "Display sleep" is set in "10 minutes".
"Wake for network access" is checked but it will never work if network get disconnected.
"Automatically reduce brightness before display goes to sleep" is checked
All the other options are NOT checked.
I hope someone from this community can help me with this issue.

  • Vault folder redirect cannot be displayed due to an unknown error

What happens is that on clicking on the "Vault" link in my application an error is sometimes displayed stating "the Vault folder redirect cannot be displayed due to an unknown error". If the user refreshes the page the error goes away and if they click the link again from this same browser session the error never re-appears. If the user closes this browser session, opens a new browser session and clicks on the "Vault" link again then the error message may appear once more.
I have been running the Plumtreespy diagnostic tool while clicking on this link to get some information on where the problem is occurring. I discovered that when the user is going to get the error on the webpage that some warnings are displayed in the Plumtreespy logs. • Portlet cannot be displayed due to unknown error

In our application we are getting Error, "portlet cannot be displayed due to unknown error" from ALUI portal. There is no enough informaiton apart from this. This error is not consistent, can happen any time.
Can you please advice what could be the cause?
    Thanks,

Start the "BEA Ali Logger service" on your portal server machine. Then when the problem occurs you can analyze \bea\alui\ptlogging\logs\portal\portalserver-log.spy to find out more information about what might be causing the problem. You can also set up a wireshark network capture log using the ringbuffer mode which lets you collect logs in a loop. This way if there are network issues you can find out about that too. If you're not comfortable setting these up or analyzing them an oracle support engineer can assist you if you open a case.

  • 10g: delay for collecting results from parallel pipelined table functions

When parallel pipelined table functions are properly started and generate output record, there is a delay for the consuming main thread to gather these records.
This delay is huge compared with the run-time of the worker threads.
For my application it goes like this:
main thread timing efforts to start worker and collect their results:
    [10:50:33-*10:50:49*]:JOMA: create (master): 015.93 sec (#66356 records, #4165/sec)
    worker threads:
    [10:50:34-*10:50:39*]:JOMA: create (slave) : 005.24 sec (#2449 EDRs, #467/sec, #0 errored / #6430 EBTMs, #1227/sec, #0 errored) - bulk #1 / sid #816
    [10:50:34-*10:50:39*]:JOMA: create (slave) : 005.56 sec (#2543 EDRs, #457/sec, #0 errored / #6792 EBTMs, #1221/sec, #0 errored) - bulk #1 / sid #718
    [10:50:34-*10:50:39*]:JOMA: create (slave) : 005.69 sec (#2610 EDRs, #459/sec, #0 errored / #6950 EBTMs, #1221/sec, #0 errored) - bulk #1 / sid #614
    [10:50:34-*10:50:39*]:JOMA: create (slave) : 005.55 sec (#2548 EDRs, #459/sec, #0 errored / #6744 EBTMs, #1216/sec, #0 errored) - bulk #1 / sid #590
    [10:50:34-*10:50:39*]:JOMA: create (slave) : 005.33 sec (#2461 EDRs, #462/sec, #0 errored / #6504 EBTMs, #1220/sec, #0 errored) - bulk #1 / sid #508
You can see, the worker threads are all started at the same time and terminating at the same time: 10:50:34-10:50:*39*.
But the main thread just invoking them and saving their results into a collection has finished at 10:50:*49*.
Why does it need #10 sec more just to save the data?
Here's a sample sqlplus script to demonstrate this:

    Hello

       - dynamic sampling used for this statementI posted about it here a few years ago and I more recently posted a question on Asktom. Unfortunately Tom was not able to find a technical reason for it to be there so I'm still a little in the dark as to why it is needed. The original question I posted is here:

I ran your tests with HASH vs ANY and the results are in line with the observations above....

  • Standard Behaviour of Due Date in UWL for SRM Workitems

We have a deployment of Enterprise Portal which is integrated to SAP SRM (7.02). I have two  queries regarding the standard behaviour of "Due Date" column in UWL:
    1. The column always displays today as the due date for all shopping carts, irrespective of delviery date. I would like to know whether this is an issue and also would be helpful if you elaborate on how is this calculated.
    2. The column is showing blank for any workitems other than shopping carts (Purchase Order change workitem, User change approvals, Invoice approvals etc.)
    Thanks

    Dear ArulPrakash
I hope you are well and many thanks for using the SAP Discussion Forums .
With reference to the scenario that you have described you mentioned the following:
You have a deployment of Enterprise Portal which is integrated to SAP SRM (7.02). You have two  queries regarding the standard behaviour of "Due Date" column in UWL:
The column always displays today as the due date for all shopping carts, irrespective of delviery date. You would like to know whether this is an issue and also would be helpful if you elaborate on how is this calculated.
The column is showing blank for any workitems other than shopping carts (Purchase Order change workitem, User change approvals, Invoice approvals etc.)
Ok regarding your queries kindly let me attempt to provide some clarification and oversight.
Firstly in terms of the column and the fact it displays todays date as the due date (irrespective of the actual delivery date).  Now from a broad level overview perspective it is possible to change the display of the due date in the UWL.  In the standard xml file you will see the following: <DisplayAttribute name="dueDate" type="date" width="" sortable="yes" format="medium" referenceBundle="due_date" hAlign="LEFT" vAlign="BASELINE" maxTextWidth="0" headerVisible="yes"/> The medium format refers to the output of the field displaying the date as follows: Jun 01, 2014. The short format refers to the output of the field displaying the date as follows: 06/01/14.The long format refers to the output of the field displaying the date as follows: June 01, 2014. The full format refers to the output of the field displaying the date as follows: Tuesday, June 01, 2014. I've attached some reference documentation below for further reference on both your queries.
Secondly regarding the blank columns for workitems. Here the first thing which needs to be ensured is that SAP Note: 1133821 - UWL Destination Service configuration is followed and setup accordingly in terms of configuration settings and parameters. Now you mention that this is occuring for another other item other than shopping carts? Are custom attributes involed here? Could you please have a look at the help document below to check the bahavior of retrieving custom attributes in UWL? http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/ef/f2aed99c414f81adacc6b897a6910a/content.htm

  • My new Ipad2 got connected to my home Wi-Fi and to the network and for 2 days everything was alright. Then I encounteed a problem. Though my Ipad2 was getting connected to Wi-Fi, could'nt access network. How to enable Data Roaming?.

My new Ipad2 got connected to my home wi-fi and to the network. For 2 days evrything qored well. Then though Ipad2 was connected to wi-fi, it did not open the web page/s. The dialogue box read, `Data Roaming is turned off. You can enable Data Roaming in the Network Section of General Settings' When I tried it, there is no item of Data Roaming displayed in the Network Section of General Settings. It shows only two settings. 1. VPN and 2. Wi-Fi.  How to correct this issue? Help is needed to resolve this issue. I am from India and Apple do not have any local service providers.Pl. help me.

Sounds like the WiFi is connected, but cannot reach the Internet and is trying to use 3G, but you are in a roaming area so you get the dialog.
The first thing to try is turning the Wi-Fi off and back on again in Settings.  Or simply turn the iPad off and back on again.  If that doesn't work double-check that other devices are able to use the same WiFi network successfuly, or try the iPad on another WiFi network.
