JMS Queue Communnication in ODI 10.1.3.5

Hi Everyone .
I Need to pass data from ODI to a OJMS Queue present in Oracle Application Server . So i followed the following Steps in the following Document .
http://blogimg.chinaunix.net/blog/upfile/071025000239.pdf
the Oc4J Container and ODI Both are installed in the same Machine .
The version of Oracle AS is 10.1.3.1
ODI 10.1.3.5
Just for the confirmation i am using InMemory Queue but my Actual Requirement is to use Data Persistant Queue of Oracle DB.
If I use jms/demoQueue with the configuration present in the Document .I dont get any error in the Operator but when i go and check in the em Console .there is no Message waiting to be read .
If i use some other Queue then it throws the following Error . Can someone Help me

• Error while passing ODI variable in JNDI Url for JMS Queue XML

Hi,
Facing a weird problem while passing ODI variable in JNDI Url for JMS Queue XML.
Below is the JNDI Url configured under ODI Topology:
JNDI Url: t3://<host_location>?d=#TEST.SCHEMA_FILE&s=<schema_name>&JMS_DESTINATION=jms/<queue_name>
where,
#TEST.SCHEMA_FILE --> ODI variable storing xsd name and location
Issue Description:
If we restart ODI server then for the first run of any ODI interface using JMS Queue XML, it is unable to get the value for ODI variable present in JNDI Url (d=#TEST.SCHEMA_FILE).
It throws error message saying: No XSD found
Temporary Resolution:
As a temporary fix if we hard-code and pass the value in that ODI variable as shown below, it will successfully go through.
eg: JNDI Url: t3://<host_location>?d=C:\XSD\test.xsd&s=<schema_name>&JMS_DESTINATION=jms/<queue_name>
Reverting it back to variable later will have no issues and subsequent run will succeed.
But again anytime later if server is restarted then first run will have this issue.
Want to have permanent fix for it.
Any one having idea on it please share. Appreciate your help!

What ODI version are you using? It could be related to the bug in the older version as described in support note Doc ID 1290326.1

• ODI integration with JMS Queue

Hi,
I've been searching for some instructions on how to integrate ODI with JMS Queue but there's a distinct lack of information on the internet.
Can anybody point me to a step by step guide they have come across?
Any help is gratefully received.
Thanks
Gav

Hi Manish,
As of now there is no out-box-adapter for JMS queue.
If you don’t want JNBridge adapter (I hope you’re referring to same. There is no “jt” adapter as you mentioned), you can create a custom adapter which access the JMS queue.
Use WCF LOB adaper (WCF Lob
Adapter Wizard)and create an adapter.
Following article details about the .NET code for messaging with JMS queue, try the code.
Use JMS Messaging in your C# Applications
And following articles give details about using WCF LOB adapter/Wizard:
What Is the WCF LOB Adapter SDK?
Sample:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb798102.aspx
http://geekswithblogs.net/michaelstephenson/archive/2009/02/10/129302.aspx
Use similar code (one from above codeproject article where how to do messaging between JMS queue is shown) to wrapper it around custom WCF LOB adapter.
Give it a try, if you don’t want to spend anything on a 3rd party adapter.

• Use ODI with JMS Queue

I'm new user in ODI and also JMS. I successfuly use odi to integrate data from two oracle database applications. I'm trying to integrate applications using JMS Queues (or Topics) and I failed to create odi "data server" for this technology. Can someone help me to do this or give me a sample to follow it?
thanks.

Hi there,
You can actually create 2 different types of connections to a JMS Queue or Topic. Flat or XML. The simplest to start with is flat. This will basically cause ODI to view the contents of the queue as simple flat file data. Note, this is a bit advanced use of ODI, so I would perhaps go through connecting to an RDBMS first before walking through this. It will make more sense.
To set this up, you will need to:
1. Copy the necessary client files from OC4J, place them in the <ODI_HOME>/oracledi/drivers directory and restart ODI. The files you need are:
- <OC4J_HOME>/j2ee/home/oc4jclient.jar
- <OC4J_HOME>/j2ee/home/lib/javax77.jar
- <OC4J_HOME>/j2ee/home/lib/jta.jar
Sop copy those files and restart ODI.
2. Create a physical connection (Topology Application/Physical Architecture/Technologies -> right click JMS Queues and select "Insert Data Server")
3. In the Description tab, simpl fill in the Name field.
4. In the JNDI tab , fille in the following:
- JNDI Authentication - Simple
- JNDI User: application user - this is the equivalent of javax.naming.Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL
- Password: application password - this is the equivalent of javax.naming.Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS
- JNDI Driver: This is the equivalent of javax.naming.Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, so enter com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory
- JNDI Url: This is the equivalent of javax.naming.Context.PROVIDER_URL, so put in ormi://<hostname>[:<port>]/<application>. For instance, with the basic OC4J install, I put in ormi://localhost/default.
- JNDI Resource: This is the JNDI lookup key for your Queue Connection factory. For example, for the default OC4J installation, I put in jms/QueueConnectionFactory
5. Click the Test button and click OK in the window that pops up. You should get a message box saying that your connection was successful.
6. Click Apply or OK and a new window will pop up. In this window, go to the Context tab and click the Add button and in the row that appears, click on the right most field (it says <Undefined> and replace <undefined> with a logical name for your connection. Hit Enter and click OK)
7. You've now connected to the Queue, to create the Queue object in ODI, go to the Designer window, go to models and create a new model.
8. Set the name to whatever makes sense to you. Set the technology to JMS Queue and the Logical Schema to the logical connection name you created in step 6. In the Reverse tab, select Global from the Context dropdown menu.
9. Click OK. You now have a container for any Queues that are in this connection.
10. To point to the queue, right click your new model and select Insert Datastore.
11. In the new window, name your datastore whatever you'd like. Set the resource name to the JNDI resource name for the queue (for example, with the default OC4J configuration, you could set this to jms/demoQueue.
12. In the Files tab, set the File Format to fixed, and set the record separator to Windows or Unix (it doesn't really matter which one you pick)
13. In the Columns tab, click the add button to add a column. Name the column something like DATA and set is to a String of size 1000.
14. Click OK. You'll now be able to right click this new datastore and view data, granted in a very simple format. You can create a more complex flat file structure if you' like but this gives you a quick and easy to view the contents of the queue.
I'd suggest trying to connect this way, post if you were successful and I will then post how to connect to an XML structured queue (it's a little teenie bit different)

• Testing ODI connectivity with Sonic MQ JMS Queue server

Hi
We are trying to integrate our ODI to sonic MQ.
Since I am a newbie , could you please guide me in creating a data server and connecting it through physical agent?
Below are the steps I did.
1. I have copied the below jar files in ../driver directory and bounce the agent.
mfcontext.jar sonic_Client.jar sonic_ASPI.jar sonic_XA.jar sonic_Selector.jar sonic_Crypto.jar jndi.jar
3. tesed the connectivity to the JNDI URL and port using 'telnet myserver 7530'
3. created a new JMS Queue Server with below setting.
JNDI Authentification: Simple
JNDI User :Administrator
Password :
JNDI Protocol : <undefined>
JNDI Driver: com.sonicsw.jndi.mfcontext.MFContextFactory
JNDI URL: tcp://myserver:7530
JNDI Resource: ODI_QUEUE.Entry
4. apply the changes
When I tried to test it I got the below messages.
java.lang.Exception:
at com.sunopsis.graphical.l.pm.a(pm.java)
at com.sunopsis.graphical.l.pm.s(pm.java)

at javax.swing.DefaultButtonModel.setPressed(Unknown Source)

I think that you should update the Odiparams.bat in order to add the JMS driver files which are not in the path of the agent.
Stop your agent.
in the odiparams update one of the line
"set ODI_CLASSPATH" with the new files
and then restart your agent.

• I want to use ODI to read XML messages from JMS queue and then process it..

I want to use oracle ODI (Oracle Data Integrator) to read XML messages from JMS queue and then process it.. i also want to process and validate the data in it....
Could anyone please tell me the steps to achieve the same. I tried some ways which i got on OTN, but not able to implement it exactly...
As i m very new to ODI, it will be great if you provide detailed steps..
Thanks in advance for your help....

Hi,
Were you able to do it? We are facing this same issue now and, despite the fact the docs say otherwise, it does not seem to be a trivial task.

• JMS Queue XML: Elements with same name

Hi
I notice that ODI does not do a good job of reverse-engineering JMS queue models where an element name is referenced in different parts of the schema.
For example:
root
..body
...consignment
....load
.....event
....unload
.....event
etc
In the above, ODI will reverse-engineer the 'event' element under 'load', but not the one under 'unload'.
I don't have control over the xsd models and was therefore wondering if there is some sort of workaround I can perform in this scenario?
Cheers

Actually, I just found the following Oracle note sums this up: 757642.1
Is it possible to use the SAME ELEMENT as a SUB-ELEMENT in multiple DIFFERENT Elements of an XML File?
If so, what is the impact of this approach on the reverse engineered Model and Datastores and how can Integration Interfaces be set up to map these identical ELEMENT for which the content is semantically different and as a result to be used differently in different Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) Integration Interfaces.
The following XML is a simple example in which the ITEM Element is logically set as a sub-element to three other XML Elements:
•Shoppinglist
•GroceryStore
•HardwareStore
<Shoppinglist>

ShoppingList

<GroceryStore>

Eggs

Milk

Bread

</GroceryStore>
<HardwareStore>

Screwdriver

Hammer

Nails

</HardwareStore>
</Shoppinglist>Solution
Such an approach must be avoided. This is a strict limitation of the ODI XML Driver.
See Bug:8563428 DUPLICATE SUBELEMENTS WITH DIFFERETNT TYPES ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY XML DRIVER

• Polling a JMS Queue

Hi,
I am new to ODI,my scenario is that I want to poll a JMS Queue, from ODI for messages, and once I receive the message I want to persist it in DB, I need help to make this work.
Thanks,
Rahul

I think you ran into a known Bug that has been fixed in recent versions/service-packs (sorry, I don't know the version number). Setting the delivery mode override to Persistent is fine as a work-around as long as you're sure that your applications don't send non-persistent messages to the affected destinations. If this is a concern and you need to force the delivery mode override back to its default whilst still keeping your time-to-live override, I think you can probably do this by shutting down your domain, then editing your XML to remove the delivery mode override stanza, and finally restarting...

• Problem in configuring my driver for JMS Queues

Hello,
I'm working in connecting ODI to Sonic ESB.
I have added all the drivers needed to ODI/Drivers and I continue to have an error.
After searching in our ESB Doc i finally found why.
I have to change a property of my Driver.
I have tryied to change it in the Property Tab of the JMS Queue Data Server.
with Key= "My Property Name" and Value= "the new Value needed"
But there's no change, where can I do this ???
Thanks for your answer,
Cordially,
BM

In fact I have to change the domain in which I will be connected.
On Sonic ESB by default it is nammed Domain1 and I want to change this name to SonicTestDomain.
In java I just have to put :
prop.put("com.sonicsw.jndi.mfcontext.domain", "SonicTestDomain");
but in my Topology I'm using the Property Tab and in the first column nammed Key I put
com.sonicsw.jndi.mfcontext.domain and on the other nammed Value I put SonicTestDomain.
But when I put Test it always responding me :
javax.naming.NamingException [Root exception is com.sonicsw.mf.comm.InvokeTimeoutException: Domain1.DIRECTORY SERVICE:ID=DIRECTORY SERVICE - listDirectories()]
--> with Domain1 so the ghange of the property didn't do nothing.
If someone can help me...

Hi,
Hope till now you might have solved this problem.
If not lets do this below workout , we had same kind of problem.
in JNDI tab , you have JNDI authentication, this authentication is for JNDI resources, I am sure you might be using weblogic credentials.
Steps :
1. Clear JNDI User : Blank (No value)
2. Clear Password : Blank (No Value)
3. set JNDI Authentication as None, regenerate the scenario and check
For accessing JNDI responses , JMS XML Queue uses Connection parameters from Definition tab.
Hope this helps

Hi
You are missing some critical jar files in your class path. It should be namingclient.jar, also please or something similar that is missing in classpath.
