Joel: Deploying several pages of a multilingual application

Hi,
do anybody have experience how to deploy only some pages of an application with their translation files, without be forced to deploy the whole application.
I do know the site to deploy a whole multilingual application:
What I tried:
- deploy the application from the development system to a different APP_ID on the target system
- copy the concerned pages from the deployed application to the target application
- importing the translated textfile for the concerned pages from the development system to the target system
--> this doesn't work!
Background is, we are several developers on a master application. This master application consists of page bundles. Each page bundle represents a closed function within the master application.
I'm searching for a possibility to deploy a special function (represented by several pages) without to be forced to deploy the whole application everytime.
Thanks for any hint.
Joel, Arie told me you are the real expert of that issue.

Hello Norbert,
>> Is there a chance to alter the id on one system to make it the same?
The workspace ID is a column in more than one APEX metadata table (and not always under the same name), so externally and manually changing it is not really an option.
>> …what do I have to do with the existing application before I delete the workspace from the target system …
Deleting a workspace with live applications is a bit radical. I understand that the target workspace don’t share the destination workspace ID. Do they share the same name? If not, you can create a new workspace, by importing the original (source) one. It’s possible for more than one workspace to be associated with the same database schema, so all the other applications will share one workspace, and the multi-lingual application will have its own workspace. Of course, this will not work if source and target workspaces share the same name.
In this case, deleting the destination workspace, and creating a new one, by importing the source workspace is an option, although a scary one. First, you should make sure you have viable and working backups on the database level. Only then, you should export all the current applications, and continue with deleting the current workspace, and importing a new one. With the new workspace in place, you can import all the applications back.
You can use the APEXExport.class (Java) utility, which allows you to export all the applications in a specific workspace. You can find it under the ‘utilities’ directory, in the APEX distribution files. Searching this forum will yield several threads on this utility, including a specific blog entry made by Jes (John Scott).
Another option you have is to use Oracle SQL Developer to export all the applications, although similar to the internal APEX export wizard, you’ll have to do this one application at a time.
>> Do I have to translate all again after import the applications to the new generated workspace …
No. As you basically have the same workspace as the original one, you can seed the main language application, and then to upload your original XLIFF, which contains all the translations you made.
Deleting a live workspace and creating a new one can be a tedious task, and very risky one. Don’t look for shortcuts, and make sure you have good backups to fall back on.

Arie.

  • How to deep link to  several pages of an external application ?

    HI,
I created an external application named MyApp with UserName and Password fields using the External Application component.
and an additional field as Parameter1 with value SearchPage
I am able create a url referencing the applicatoin such as
    /adfextapplogin?extappid=MyApp
I can connect to the application directly, once I provide the username and password.
I need to create deep linking to few more pages in the same application.
I modified the external application definition, by removing the Parameter field.
    Created a URL such as
    /adfextapplogin?extappid=MyApp&Parameter1=SearchPage
I was expecting that the URL would behave the same way as I created in my first step, But the application did not go to the search page
instead it went to the landing page only.
Is there a way to define one external application definition, and use that definition to create multiple urls pointing to different destination pages ?
    I appreciate your help.
    Thanks
    Sam

Thanks for the info. I reviewed the link, I could not find the information I am looking for. Is it possible that, there is a typo .
Can you please check and provide the correct url, if the url is correct, can you point me to the correct section in the doc, I could not locate information related
to using external appliation connections for additional access

  • Error deploying page from 4.0 application to 4.1

    Hi:
I have successfully deployed a page from a 4.0 apex application to the same application in apex 4.1.
    The page is imported successfully.
However, when I run the page, I get the following error:
Can't display page item because the HTML form was not yet opened
Certain items on the page have to be deleted before the page will display and I am not sure why.
Also, the standard reports do not display. If I re-create the report on the page with exactly the same query, it does display.
What is the issue here. Why will my 4.0 page not display properly in 4.1?
    Regards,
    Bruce

Here's a couple ideas . . . True, you can't downgrade without jailbreaking your phone. Which I personally don't recommend. Other folks may, you'll need to research and make your own decision.
    Here's a couple:
    http://www.tipb.com/2010/07/06/improve-ios-4-performance-iphone-3g/
    Or:
A double hard reset can temporarily fix the problem. Hold both the home and sleep/wake buttons until the phone turns off. When it comes back up to your home or password screen, hold both buttons again. This time your phone should stay off. Let it sit for ~10 seconds or so, then turn it back on.

Restarting the server is not the solution.

Hi, I think you should delete all apps using WebLogic console instead of editing config.xml, is more safe. Then shutdown your instance and eliminate all that is inside in stage and .wlnotdelete directories. Start again your instance and deploy your apps.

  • How to deploy ADF page into Oracle Applications

    Hi Guys,
Is there anyway for deploying ADF pages into Oracle Applications.
Please share some links or information if you have any.
    Appreciate your help !!
    Thanks,
    VJ

You cannot run your ADF application  on the EBS web-server. You need to run it on weblogic or glassfish or tomcat. But you can call your page from the EBS. For this, just define proper "Function" in EBS that calls a jsp page. If you need to pass information from EBS to your application like USER_ID, you can in "Function" -> "Parameters" use $PROFILE$.USER_ID to get the connected user id.
You can also research AppsDataSource that you can define in weblogic , but it is more difficult

  • How to deploy a web service on Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2?

    Hi everyone,
I followed the instructions of the following link to create a web service using jDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 on Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2. [http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/obe/jdev/obe1013jdev/10131/devdepandmanagingws/devdepandmanagingws.htm#t1]
The web service created was deployed & used with no errors on the standalone OC4J instance.
But my goal is to deploy my web service on Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2.
So after several attempts, I was able to deploy it on the Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 but unfortunately I didn't know the URL needed to use the web service.
I tried the following link (http://192.168.0.91:18100/JavaWebService-GetDates-context-root/GetDatesWSSoapHttpPort) but also didn't work :(
I also tried converting to J2EE 1.3 and still not knowing how to access the web service.
    Please advice with a solution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Lana

Thanks everyone for your help :)
The problem turned out to be that Oracle application server 10.1.2 is unlike the others servers, it uses 2 ports:
    - port (19100) is dedicated for the console.
    - port (7779) is to view your applications.
So the URL needed turned out to be "http://acteos-109.beirut.acteos:7779/beanTest" instead of "http://acteos-109.beirut.acteos:18100/beanTest"
    Hope this info is useful

  • How do I make a one row table across several pages?

    Hi,
I would like to create a one row two columns table, but to have this table with text flow on several pages.
But I don't know how to do this. If I enter many lines of text, the table will not go on next page, and the extra lines are lost somewhere in the void.
I can do this in NeoOffice though, and in MS Office too.
    Thanks

    Hello Julien,
yes, I believe I can help your brother with a solution. First set your document to a two column layout in the layout inspector in the "Layout" tab panel. It's good to see the layout guides and hidden signs for better layout creation, so make them visible (menus: "View/Show Layout" and "View/Show Invisibles". To have an appropriate distance between the the rows of text, set the number field "After" at the bottom of the same panel to a value so the distance is ca. 1,5 line spacing or whatever your brother like to have.
Now write the text you want to have in the left column. To place the translation in the right column, choose the menu item "Insert/Column Break". Now the text cursor jumps into the right column and you can write the translation. To type the new text in the left column, choose the menu item "Insert/Layout Break". The text cursor jumps from the end of the right text under the text in the left column, and you can go on.
I know that the use of the menu items is not good for the workflow, so do the following:
Open the Sytem Preferences and choose the panel "Keyboard & Mouse". There click the tab button "Keyboard Shortcuts". Press the "+" button at the bottom of the list field. In the appearing sheed select the Pages app in the pull-down menu "Application:". If you can't find it there, use the last menu item "Other..." to search for it. Now type the EXACT menu item title in the text field "Menu Title:". Here it is "Column Break". Than activate the field "Keyboard Shortcut" and press the key combo you want to have for this function like "optionshiftc" or whatever. Press the "Add" button and repeat this steps for the menu item "Layout Break".
Close the System Preferences and start Pages. Now you can use the key combos for the break insertions.
I hope whith this your brother gets the document he wants to have. But if there are more questions, feel free to post them here.

    Hi Saravanaa,
you must have missed this file while moving it to the server 'xxramesh.oracle.apps.ak.xxramesh.server.rameshAM'. Try moving the .class file under your JDevHome to the server under $JAVA_TOP.

  • How can WLS use JSP pages in a Web Application witth just a JRE [Web Application, WAR, JSP, weblogic.jsp.pageCheckSeconds and JRE]

How can WLS use JSP pages in a Web Application (either a .war file or a war directory structure) without a java compiler?
I suspect either the JSP specification is flawed (i.e. it doesn't take account of servers using just a JRE), or BEA's implementation is broken.
Production servers do not have a JDK installed. They only have a JRE. Therfore a java compiler is not present on the machine that the Web Application is deployed onto.
On the development machine, when the server is requested to load the JSP it creates a tmpwar directory within the Web Application directory structure. This is then included in the resultant .war file thus:
              D:\war>jar -tf gmi.war
              META-INF/
              META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
              gmiService.jsp
              WEB-INF/
              WEB-INF/classes/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/bt/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/bt/gmi/
              WEB-INF/classes/com/bt/gmi/gmiService.class
              WEB-INF/getList.xsl
              WEB-INF/getListByConnection.xsl
              WEB-INF/getListByDistrict.xsl
              WEB-INF/getListByDistrictConnection.xsl
              WEB-INF/lib/
              WEB-INF/source/
              WEB-INF/source/build.bat
              WEB-INF/source/gmiService.java
              WEB-INF/web.xml
              WEB-INF/weblogic.xml
              tmpwar/
              tmpwar/jsp_servlet/
              tmpwar/jsp_servlet/_gmiservice.class
              tmpwar/jsp_servlet/_gmiservice.java
When deployed on the production server with the web.xml file set to use the following values (note XML stripped):
              weblogic.jsp.pageCheckSeconds
              -1
              weblogic.jsp.precompile
              false
              weblogic.jsp.compileCommand
              javac
              weblogic.jsp.verbose
              true
              weblogic.jsp.packagePrefix
              jsp_servlet
              weblogic.jsp.keepgenerated
              false
              And in the weblogic.properties file:
              weblogic.httpd.webApp.gmi=war/gmi
I've also tried with the .war file, but that insists on creating another tmpwar directory outside of the .war file.
Then, although I have set pageCheckSeconds to -1 (don't check and don't recompile) ter production server still attempts to recompile the JSP's:
              Mon Sep 25 11:40:11 BST 2000:<I> <WebAppServletContext-gmi> *.jsp: init

The default Java compiler from sun lives in the tools.jar that comes with
the JDK. Just add that to your set of JARs which are deployed in production
and you should be fine. No need to install the full JDK - just make the
              tools.jar available to WebLogic.

  • PAGE RADIO BUTTONS and APPLICATION ITEM VALUE

I have several pages that use same radio button group that permits filtering the report query (of course on each page, it is a page level radio button item).
I created an application item value to hold the last used value of a radio button item.
On login, I would like the application item value set to a default value.
For a given page using the recurring radio button group item,
I would like the radio button item value set to the application item value on entry into a page.
I would like the report to use the application item value on entry to a page.
I would like the application item value be updated anytime the page level radio button item value is changed, so that when you move to another page,
the next radio button group and report can use the last selected radio group button value.
I am trying to use a variety of solutions in COMPUTATION and CONDITIONAL COMPUTATION... to include use of set_session_state procedure, and I am not getting desired result, partial success, but not complete.
Can you have a computation item that is only for initialization of the report and radio button group on page entry?
And a separate computation item that senses user selection of another radio button, updating the report, and updating the application level item?
    Help requested. Thank you.
Would be nice to have application level objects, like radio button groups.

    Created Page 0
Created an HTML region in COLUMN 2 and SEQUENCE 10.
    Selected under region CONDITION:
Current Page is contained within Expression 1 as comma delimited list of pages
in the EXPRESSION 1 provided the requested comma delimited list of pages that I wished the HTML region to appear.
Created the radio button group item P0_RADIO and assigned to Page0 HTML region.
    Selected under item CONDITION:
Current Page is contained within Expression 1 as comma delimited list of pages
in the EXPRESSION 1 provided the requested comma delimited list of pages that I wished theradio button group to appear.
In SHARED COMPONENTS I created an APPLICATION COMPUTATION
In the computation I created a PL/SQL function to initialize the radio group
    BEGIN
    IF :P0_RADIO IS NULL THEN
    RETURN 'A_ALL';
    ELSE
    RETURN :P0_RADIO;
    END IF;
    END;
'A_ALL' being the default value for :P0_RADIO
Radio group appears on the desired pages, is initialized to the desired default value, and works properly on each page.

  • HTTP 403 forbidden message on deployed web page

    Hi there,
Since the day i have deployed my web application I am not able to login to the web page.
I am  getting error HTTP 403 Forbidden, have permission to view the webpage.
ideally it should have taken to login page and then asked for permission and so on...
What I have done so far?
    1. Given all the roles to the said user.
    2. Under security relams I have changes the password and tried to login again. But no help.
    3. Ironically, there is no error generated under logs....strange !!
    4. Check weblogic.xml and web.xml file to user mapping with the server and its role. All looks fine.
    5. Downgraded IE from IE 9 to IE 8 in hope if that works fine  or that could be the reason.
    Screen shot of deployed web page is attached here;
Any clue or suggestion on such issue?
    Any hep would be appreciated.
    thanks,

    Hi there,
    1. Its Documaker 12.4, I am using IE 9 for Web Server. While using Chrome the page is getting blanked out, that is yet another issue.
    2. Console, DocumakeAdministratorHelp,DocumakerDashboardHelp etc are working fine and loading correctly. Since beigning the Admin page is not working.
    3. Seeing the premission error I tried to give all the roles to Administrator in Weblogic Security realms, wanted to see if that works but I do not think with DD Only Security any changed would have reflected in actual file. [Role - Documaker Administrator, User- documaker Pwd - JMS pwd]
I did tried to change password, to see if that works but it was not working even then. Still getting Forbidden error
Then I also tried adding servlet alias to the default URL and see if it takes mr to login page; (screen shot attached)
Why all other default page is working with the URL defined and DocumakerAdministrator not working?
I see in the URL that it is taking to ADF control page, can that be looked for permission?
    Thanks,

  • Deploying a page with Tabs

I have deployed all the pages of a custom application and all the pages are working fine except one page.
This page is slightly different from the other pages in the sense that on this page I have used Tabs and each tab has a CO associated to it.
So though this is a single page, it has a number of CO files.
Is there any particular thing that I should consider in deploying this kind of pages?

Login to System Administartror or Functional Administartor Responsibility & set the profile option at user level.
    Thanks
