Join-path to multiple child paths

I am trying to do this:
$logDateUSA = Join-Path -path $logDate.Substring(4,2) -childPath $logDate.Substring(6,2), $logDate.Substring(0,4);
But I get the error:
Join-Path : Cannot convert 'System.Object[]' to the type 'System.String' required by parameter 'ChildPath'. Specified method is not supported.
Where am i going wrong?

Create an outline path from multiple intersecting paths

Despite thinking this should be easy, I can't quite figure it out.
I've drawn some text using a graphics tablet and brought it into illustrator CS6.
This has several "internal" paths whereas all I need is the outline path which can then be filled in with a colour.
I've tried cleaning it up but without any success.
A simple example is an "X" which has the intersecting section as two long rectangles. Slight more complicated in my eyes is the top right corner of the X.
A more complex example is the "a".
How can I tidy this up and end up with just a path representing the outline? In searching on the web, I did notice a new join tool, but it's only in CC whereas I'm still on CS6... Join and trim paths | Adobe Illustrator CC tutorials

As I (mis)understand it, for each letter you may simply select both/all paths and Window>Pathfinder>Unite.
If you have any open paths making trouble, you may select each and Ctrl/Cmd+J to close it first.

Changing multiple texture paths in Adobe Flash CS5

Hey everyone,
I'm desperately searching for a way to swap out multiple texture paths of images in my library.
For instance, say I put a set of 5 textures in Adobe/Bitmaps. Later I decide to move the 5 textures to Adobe/Textures and delete the old directory. What I typically have to do is go into each texture file's properties and re-import the image with the new path in place.
This is fine if I were only dealing with a handful of textures, but as it is, I have nearly 75 or so textures to re-path! If anyone knows of an out-of-the-box way around this or knows of any Flash extensions that could get around this issue and wouldn't mind sharing it here, I'd greatly appreciate it! I've searched around on google and have, so far, come up completely empty.

Well I did use actionscript for creating the actual index and effects, but AS3 was used no further for the index. I created an index which had links Part 1, Part 2 ,3,4,5 and clicking on each of them lead to different frames (using the mouseclick, goto and stop at frame (x) function.) Clicking on part one for example would lead to list of documents in that part. Sorry I can't be of any help, I'm totally new to this

Photoshop CC 14.1 editing paths on multiple layers disabled?

Has editing paths on multiple layers with the direct selection tool been disabled in Photoshop CC 14.1? I can't seem to figure out how to do it now, shift- or command-clicking doesn't do anything. In fact, I can't even click to select individual paths on different layers, something that Photoshop has had forever.
While it was at times problematic the way it was in 14.0 (always selecting multiple layers and having to go into isolation mode to edit just one), there were times when it was useful to edit multiple layers, or even just click between layers with the direct selection tool.
I've seen this documentation on the site, but I'm not sure it's very helpful. Can someone give me some assistance?
Also, what is the custom keyboard shortcut for entering/exiting isolation mode? It is mentioned in the above image, but what actually is it?

You can still work with paths the way you could in 14.0 -- just choose the All Layers mode in the Path Selection tool or Direct Selection tool options bar. We added the Active Layers mode for users who prefer to isolate which paths can be selected based on which layers they have already selected in the Layers panel.
To clarify:
-Active Layers mode: Clicking or dragging on the canvas with the vector selection tools will not affect which layers are selected in the Layers panel. Double-click to enter isolation mode is disabled.
-All Layers mode: Works just like in 14.0 -- clicking or dragging on the canvas with the vector selection tools can change which layers are selected in the Layers panel. Double-click to enter isolation mode is enabled.
If you find yourself switching between these two modes a lot, you can add a custom keyboard shortcut that will toggle which mode is selected. In the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog, choose Shortcuts For: Tools and scroll down to the Direct Selection Mode Toggle option. Add your new keyboard shortcut here.
As for your question about isolation mode keyboard shortcuts, this just means that you can assign a custom keyboard shortcut to this command as well (Select > Isolate Layers).

Is it possible to join an open path with a closed path?

I am using Illustrator to show territorial changes to Germany after World War I.
My problem is this: I need to join an open path to a closed path.
With the pencil tool I drew a blue line to illustrate the Rhine river on an SVG map of Weimar Germany.
I need to connect the river (open path) to Germany's borders (closed path) so that a new closed path is formed: the Rhineland (Weimar Germany west
of the Rhine).
I am totally stumped as to how to achieve this. Thank you very much for any help anyone can provide.

Two ways you can make it a Live Paint Group then you actually d not hvve to join it in order to get it to react like a closed path.
The other way is to the select the portion of the closed path with either the direct select tool or lasso tool and hit Command C the hit Comand F paste in front and in the same position. then select the end points on one end of both path and hit Command J then do the same for the other ends of the path and now you have a new closed path and the old closed path under it still intact.
I think the live paint group though will open up a much more powerful workflow for you if you do this type of work often.

Multiple Context Paths Per Web Application

We have a Web Application which has a Context Path of "titanadmin". We have some
HTML pages which refer to this within the URLs they contain. We need to move the
functionality in this Web Application to another Web Application with a Context
Path of "gp3admin". We cannot change the URLs in the generated HTML.
So, is it possible for a Web Application to have multiple Context Paths, so that
URLs starting with "/titanadmin/" and "/gp3admin/" both go to the same Web Application.

There is no hard limit to the number of Web Applications (I managed a WSSv3 farm that had 60+, for example). The issue is memory-related and primarily stems from 32bit systems where it was much easier to get Out Of Memory errors on the IIS Application Pools
when performing a large operation across a 32bit Application Pool (e.g. crawling). However, if you limit each IIS Application Pool to about 10 Web Applications (again, in 32bit land that no longer applies), everything generally works OK given the Web Applications
do not have a very large amount of content.
But, if HNSC is in use, a single Web Application should be sufficient, barring any Web Application-specific settings you might need to make.

Multiple Float Paths

I have a problem related to the multiple float
paths.
After marking the float path
in the tools, schedule, advanced, multiple paths = 10,
etc., the fields "Float Path" and "Float Path Order"
remain empty.

Multiple alias paths for icons

Is it possible to define multiple alias paths for icons?
In the httpd.conf I have an alias for example:
Alias /d6i_icons/ "/devapps/test/aces/graphics"
In the Registry.dat I have set the iconpath and iconextension as follows:
default.icons.iconpath=/d6i_icons/
default.icons.iconextension=gif
I want to add an additional path for icons for another system "/devapps/test/iceman/graphics/"
Is it possible to have 2 paths for the Alias /d6i_icons/ and how do you code this? I have tried defining another alias and adding the other path on the one alias line, but neither worked.

you can only specify one. However, if you store icons in jar files and set documentbase=codebase in the formsweb.cfg file then you can use separate jar files per application

Combine and Join Two Closed Paths With A Straight Path

I have two closed path and I need to combine or join them with a straight path. When I selected all and right click to join, it did not join. Please refer to my screen shot. Thank you.

You can't create Y-junctions.
You can do one of two possbilities:
Just place the open path wherever you need and leave it there.
convert all of the shapes with Object > Path > outline stroke and then use the pathfinder functions.

I have a few dozen Adobe Illustrator, imported Shape Layers with paths "Created..from Vector Layers" in AEffects.
In order to use a .jsxbin script to change every path to the same number of verticies for animating, i must 1st convert them to Keyframes on the same Mask Path property.
1) i hoped to please be shown\sent an example showing how to,..
a) Get\Retrieve "KeyValue" from multiple, single (Shape Layers):Outlines > Contents > Group > Path > Path as shown in screenshot "4-CreateShapeFromVecLyr2Outlines.JPG",
and then,..
b) "SetValue" from those paths into Mask > Mask Path keyframes also in screenshot "1-ExtendScript_ShapePathsTOMaskPathKeyframes.JPG"?

esp. with my limited experience i can't determine how your concise script works.
Because it 1st errors esp. with undefines i'm thinking at best its incomplete (or algorithm) to give me the gist and i'm to fill in the blanks, which i am doing with the sort of working code example pasted below.
Its written with every definition, declaration and initialization completed, so a novice like me can read the manuals, rev. eng. pertinant script(s), then with fragmented code and understanding quickly connecting to form a complete custom script, as we've all done.

Accounting for Multiple Cygwin Paths for Windows Hosts

Hello everyone,
We are using EM12cR2 (installed on RHEL) but need to monitor a number of Windows hosts. For most Windows hosts, Cygwin is installed in the default path (C:\cygwin) but we also have Citrix XenApp servers that we would like to monitor but they do not have a C: drive, just M:. I've seen the settings file that allows someone to change the Cygwin path but I can't find information on whether or not you can add multiple paths to that line and what that syntax would be. I've also seen an older Citrix plug-in but I don't see anything stating it's compatibility with this version of EM. If I could, I would test out a number of scenarios in a lab environment but we don't have that option.
Does anyone know if it's possible to add multiple Cygwin paths (and what the syntax is), if the Citrix plug-in is compatible with EM12cR2, or if there's another way to do this that I'm not thinking of?

Adding multiple paths into a compound path

If I use the gui to add multiple paths into a compound path all I have to do is select multiple paths and choose Object->Compound Path->Make (or ctrl-8). When I do this then the bottom path which is filled has holes 'punched through' creating a window in the shape of the smaller paths which were on top of the larger one. For example, a large rectangle with a white fill color is the bottom item and two smaller paths are on top. I create a compound path and whatever is below the new compound path shows through in the largest shape of the previous two smaller paths.
If I use JavaScript and create a new compoundPathItem and move 3 paths into it, with the largest being first, then I get a compound path but only the first of the smaller objects creates a transparent space.
Here is a simplified example:

In the above example the 'bigbox' path has the left and right paths on top of it but only the left path creates a transparent space in the original box.
I also tried using PLACEATEND instead of INSIDE and grouping the two smaller paths together and moving the group to the compound path.
Merging path items together won't work - I want to keep the original path's closed and intact without drawing a line between them so I can't just add their pathpoints together.
Is move() the best way to add existing paths to a new compound path?

Im at work at the moment so only have access to CS2 where the second script works… The first script worked at home with CS5…

As you can see with this I did not change the polarity of the last path as in this test case I knew it was the largest of the shapes not sure if that had any bearing on my results…?

How to deal with multiple disk path's

i'm setting up a new server with virtual servers with extra io domain's
now i have a question on how to deal with multiple disk path's
so following questions:
- can i enable multipath on the primary and on the alternate domain?
i tried this but when rebooting the alternate the alternate keep's freezing and the only solution is to hard stop it and it's depending host
- if i can't enable multipathing how to handle this
for example a disk has on the primary domain 4 path's to a disk
do i then assign all 4 path's to a virtual disk server or do i create a virtual disk server per path
if i do the first is adding all the path to the same mpgroup enough or not

if you are going to use alternate domain you have to give this IO the all bus root nexus, what you describe sounds like DIO,
3.- - if i can't enable multipathing how to handle this for example a disk has on the primary domain 4 path's to a disk
If you have 4 path to the same disk in the primary and you are using multipath let's say mpxio, then you will have only one disk in the primary, which is a virtual device that handle the 4 paths. That's is what you have to use in a vds.

I am trying to introduce a constraint on the sales_details table

I get 4 rows having one question as q_grid_id and 3 questions as q_owner_type but the extractvalue( tab2) doesnt fetch the values of codes....
I am assuming that its an issue with XPATH I mentioned in alias tab2 but How else to handle it, is an issue here...
If In TABLE (XMLSEQUENCE (EXTRACT (VALUE (tab1), 'dataColumn/codes/code'))) tab2 I refer the path only till codes, it errors out with saying that "single row fetches multiple records" because there are multiple child records..
How to handle this??
