JPA Query set parameter list of objects

Hi Experts,
Currently i am looking for the resolution to the the following JPA Query. I am sure you guys already came across the answer for that. Please help me to spot some light.
Assume a relation Employees --> Departments. I have list of department and i would like to get all the employees belong to the departments. I was trying using the following JPA query
Select o from EmployeeEntity where o.deparment IN ( :departments ) then set the parameter value to the List of department objects. Now i am getting the following exception
at org.eclipse.persistence.exceptions.QueryException.invalidOperatorForObjectComparison(QueryException.java:598)
     at org.eclipse.persistence.internal.expressions.RelationExpression.normalize(RelationExpression.java:388)
     at org.eclipse.persistence.internal.expressions.CompoundExpression.normalize(CompoundExpression.java:218)
Any hit ?
Thanks

Hi,
You can try the following query
select e from Employees e where e.Departments.departmentid in (:deptno)
then set the parameter value to the List of departmentid
Thanks

    Thanks in advance for your advice / suggestions.

    Am I right in guessing that you were previously using the ActiveX viewer?
    Currently your code is closing the document and logging off Enterprise.  Pretty much any action that is done in the DHTML viewer will cause a postback to the server which will no longer have the document or session available with your current code which will cause all sorts of problems.  You need to persist these objects, and only clean them up once you are completely finished with them.

  • Handle list of list of objects in actionForm

    Hi,
    In my struts application, I am getting results from database, based on my search query.
    In result, I am getting set of list of objects mean set contain lists and list contain objects.
    I am passing these values from my action class to jsp page using one bean class.
    Now I want to pass all changed value from jsp page to my next action class using actionForm.
    but problem is, How can I do. because there are set of list of objects.
    pls give me suggestion.

    <html:select property="allEntity" style="width: 200px">
                                  <html:option value="Select an Entity" selected />
                                  <html:optionsCollection property="entity" value"id" label="name" />
                                  </html:select>
    Action Form class:
         private Collection entity;
    private String allEntity;
         public Collection getEntity() {
              return entity;
         public void setEntity(Collection entity) {
              this.entity = entity;
    entity holds all values, you can use it in the action class.
    you can use below too:
    String name[] = request.getParameterValues("name");

  • JPA query by entity/object ?

    I am trying to write an abstract API which dynamically assigns any Entity Class that needs to be persisted and retrieved using the Entity Manager.
    Saving into the database is not a problem, I just do entityManager.save(Class) and it works for any class that needs to be persisted.
    However, when querying for the object based upon the attributes, I want to avoid naming particular attributes and want to use the Entity class's attributes against itself for querying.
    For example, the client program will say something like this to query by name and age of a Person:
    -------calling (client) program: ---
    Person p = << get from UI, not saved yet, no Id but has all other attributes like name and age etc. >>
    List<Person> persons = dao.getAllThatMatch(p);
    --- end client Program --
    --- DAO class ---
    List<T> getAllThatMatch(T t) {  //note that expectation is that returned is a list of Object which is the same as the querying object
    List<T> entityList = em.someFinderMethod(t);
    //the someFinderMethod method should automatically query for all Person objects that match the attributes provided by the object of Person supplied as criteria
    //NOTE: there is no attribute mentioned extensively like name, age etc.
    return entityList ;
    -- end DAO class --

    Query by example is not included in the JPA standard, but it is possible to do with EclipseLink.
    See http://wiki.eclipse.org/EclipseLink/Examples/JPA/ORMQueries#Query_By_Example
    for how to use query by example with native EclipseLink queries. To execute a native query through JPA, you will need to call createQuery(DatabaseQuery query) on the org.eclipse.persistence.jpa;JpaEntityManager obtained from the javax.persistence.EntityManager instance by calling getDelegate() or unwrap.

  • Setting parameter in Detail View Object

    I want to setting parameter in detail view.I have two table.One is master another is detail.I use parameter in master table so I put my page parameter form and I execute it.It work fine.I want to use parameter in detail table.In detail table if I dont use parameter master is execute it automaticly and it shows the result but when I put the parameter in detail it isn't show any result it say no rows return.Please help about to use detail views parameters(bind variables)

    Hmmm, sorry, not sure.
    Can I suggest you change your code to the following:
    RowSetIterator[] iter= getMasterRowSetIterators();
    if (iter != null && iter[0].first() != null) {
      Row row = rsi[0].getCurrentRow();
      .....(etc)....And run it in the debugger. See if it actually gets to the Row line. If not getMasterRowSetIterators() isn't returning any iterators and you should check how you've exposed your VOs in your AM - specifically looking to see if your detail VO is actually a detail VO to a parent VO.
    Also I'm not sure overriding executeQuery() is the best place to be doing this as the doco says it is not always called. The doco seems to indicate executeQueryForCollection() is the preferred method. However in my testing it appears you can't set the query parameters in this method.
    Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
    CM.

    only possible if  you collect object sizes on a regular basis & store the details after each collection.
    what unit  of measure should be used to quantify the "growth"; rows, blocks, segment, extent?
    Some might consider this level of  detail to be symptomatic of Compulsive Tuning Disorder.

    Hello all.
    In a 6i form WBPressed trigger creates the parameter list

  • General JPA query question

    Hello world,
    I'm new to JPA 2.0 and there are few things I don't understand.
    BTW: I can't figure out the keywords to search for this question, so please pardon me if it's one of the most asked.
    Using the Preview, I've seen that alignment went straight to Hell, so I tried to make this as readable as I could using pipes in place of white spaces in the result sets.
    I have a couple of tables:
    CUST table (for customers):
    CUST_ID (pk, integer)
    CUST_NAME (varchar)
    ORD table (for orders):
    ORD_ID (pk, integer)
    ORD_STATUS (char) can be: N for new, S for shipped, D for delivered
    CUST_ID (fk, integer)
    The relationship is, of course, a "one to many" (every customer can place many orders).
    Content of the tables:
    CUST_ID|CUST_NAME
    1|elcaro
    2|tfosorcim
    3|elppa
    ORD_ID|ORD_STATUS|CUST_ID
    2|N|1
    3|N|1
    4|N|1
    5|S|1
    6|S|1
    7|D|1
    8|D|1
    9|D|1
    10|D|2
    11|N|2
    12|S|3
    13|S|3
    Here's how I annotated my classes:
    Customer.java:
    @Entity(name = "Customer")
    @Table(name = "CUST")
    public class Customer implements Serializable
    private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
    @Id
    @Column(name = "CUST_ID")
    private Integer id;
    @Column(name = "CUST_NAME")
    private String name;
    @OneToMany(mappedBy = "customer")
    private List<Order> orders;
    // Default constructor, getters and setters (no annotations on these)
    Order.java:
    @Entity(name = "Order")
    @Table(name = "ORD")
    public class Order implements Serializable
    private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
    @Id
    @Column(name = "ORD_ID")
    private Integer id;
    @Column(name = "ORD_STATUS")
    private Character status;
    @ManyToOne
    @JoinColumns
    @JoinColumn(name = "CUST_ID", referencedColumnName = "CUST_ID")
    private Customer customer;
    // Default constructor, getters and setters (no annotations on these)
    Everything works just fine, the following JPQL query yields the results I expected:
    select c from Customer c
    it returns three objects of type Customer, each of which contains the orders that belong to that customer.
    But now, I want to extract the list of customers that have orders in status 'N', along with the associated orders (only the status 'N' orders, of course).
    Back in the good ol' days I would have written an SQL query like this:
    select c.cust_id, c.cust_name, o.ord_id, o.ord_status
    from cust c
    inner join ord o on (o.cust_id = c.cust_id)
    where o.ord_status = 'N'
    and it would have returned the following result set:
    CUST_ID|CUST_NAME|ORD_ID|ORD_STATUS
    1|elcaro|2|N
    1|elcaro|3|N
    1|elcaro|4|N
    2|tfosorcim|11|N
    The following JPQL query, however, doesn't yield the expected results:
    select distinct c from Customer c join c.orders o where o.status = 'N'
    it returns the correct set of customers (customer 'elppa' doesn't have any status 'N' order and is correctly excluded), but each customer contains the full set of orders, regardless of the status.
    It seems that the 'where' clause is only evaluated to determine which set of customers has to be extracted and then the persistence provider starts to navigate the relationship to extract the full set of orders.
    Thinking a little about it, I must admit that it makes sense.
    I then tried out another JPQL query:
    select c, o from Customer c join c.orders o where o.status = 'N'
    this JPA query yields results that are similar to the ones produced by the previous SQL query: each result (4 results as expected) is a 2-object array, the first object is of type Customer and the second object is of type Order. But, again, the objects of type Customer contain the full set of related orders (as I expected, this time). Not to mention the fact that now the orders are not contained in the Customer objects, but are returned separately, just as in an SQL result set.
    Now the question is:
    Is it possible to write a JPA query that filters out, not only the customers that don't have an order in status 'N', but the related orders (fetched during relationship navigation) that are not in status 'N' as well?
    What I'd like to be able to get is a 2-customer result where each customer contains only its status 'N' orders.
    I read the Java EE 6 Tutorial and one of the examples (the Order Application) has a schema that is similar to mine, but I couldn't find a query like this (in the downloaded source code).
    Although I think the above is standard behavior, I use an Oracle Weblogic 12c server (through its Eclipse adapter) and the persistence provider appears to be EclipseLink.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Stefano

    Hello,
    When returning an entity from JPQL, it gives you the entity as it is in the database. Your "select distinct c from Customer c join c.orders o where o.status = 'N'" is asking for all customers that have an order with a status of 'N', so that is what it gives you. There is no condition to filter anything on the relationship when building the Customer object in JPA - doing so would mean returning a managed entity that does not reflect what is in the database. This would affect other queries, since JPA requires that queries return the same instance of an entity regardless of the query that is used to bring it back. So a query using your "where o.status = 'N'" would cause conflicting results when used with a query using "where o.status = 'Y'". And these queries would make the EntityManager unable to determine what has changed on the returned objects.
    EclipseLink does have the ability to filter over relationships, it is just not available through standard JPA and I would strongly discourage it. Instead of querying for Customers, why not change the query to get Orders instead -
    "select o from Customer c join c.orders o where o.status = 'N'". Assuming Orders have a ManyToOne back reference to their Customer, this will mean you do not need to travers the Customer-> order relationship. If using
    "select c, o from Customer c join c.orders o where o.status = 'N'"
    I am not sure why you would use the orders from the returned customers instead of the orders returned in the results though.
    You could also return "select c.id, c.name, o.id, o.status from Customer c join c.orders o where o.status = 'N'" which is the equivalent of what you would get from the SQL you initially posted.

    Hi,
    a list used in the singleSelectOne component does not change or set the currency in the list VO (in opposite to the navigation list). So this synchronization needs to be done programmatically. Examples of dependent list of values are available here

  • How to query involving Multi-Value Attributes objects

    Hello.
         I have one question regarding coherence. We are looking for best and the fastest way to query multi-value attribute of objects. In Coherence User guide there is example, that shows, how can this be made with java.lang.String object:
         Set searchTerms = new HashSet();
         searchTerms.add("java");
         searchTerms.add("clustering");
         searchTerms.add("books");
         // The cache contains instances of a class "Document" which has a method
         // "getWords" which returns a Collection<String> containing the set of
         // words that appear in the document.
         Filter filter = new ContainsAllFilter("getWords", searchTerms);
         Set entrySet = cache.entrySet(filter);
         // iterate through the search results
         But I would like to know, how can this be made with some other object type. For example I could have object MyCoherenceObject with attribute HashSet<Identifier> idHashSet that would represent Person object that has composite key comprised of name and lastname. Identifier object would contain two attributes of type String: name & value.
         So basically I could have two identifiers in list:
         public MyCoherenceObject {
         public HashSet idHashSet = new HashSet();
         public MyCoherenceObject() {
         Identifier id1 = new Identifier("name", "John");
         Identifier id2 = new Identifier("surname", Smith");
         idHashSet.add(id1);
         idHashSet.add(id2);
         public HashSet getIdentifiers() {
         return idHashSet;
         This object would later be inserted in coherence cache. When query over coherence cache would be performed I would like all objects where multi-value parameter with name="name" equal "John" and parameter with name="lastname" equal "Smith". My code would look something like this:
         Set searchTerms = new HashSet();
         searchTerms.add("John");
         searchTerms.add("Smith");
         // The cache contains instances of a class "Document" which has a method
         // "getWords" which returns a Collection<String> containing the set of
         // words that appear in the document.
         Filter filter = new ContainsAllFilter("getIdentifiers", searchTerms);
         Set entrySet = cache.entrySet(filter);
         // iterate through the search results
         How can this be done. Basically I don't know how to search in multi-value attribute if one value represents arbitrary object and how to tell coherence which getter fuction must be used for comparison. In my case getValue() must be used and not getName().
         Second problem:
         Coherence must not return Person object with name="Smith" and lastname="John". Here upper filter would be satisified, but problem is that I am looking for person with lastname "Smith" and name "John".
         Domain description:
         I will have different objects of same type in coherence cache with different multi-value attribute list length. For example some objects will have only one identifier object in list (e.g. Phone "phoneNumber") some two (e.g. Person "name", "lastname") and other objects will have maybe three identifier objects (e.g. City "country", "area", "state").
         If there is faster way to do this in Coherence (I saw examples with getters that contain attributes for example), please give me some directions.
         Thank you very much for your help.

    When filtering based on the getIdentifiers, you should add Identifier instances into the searchTerms collection, and it will satisfy all your expectations. If you add simple Strings into that searchTerms collection, then none of your queries will return anything, because the String will never equal() the Identifier instances.
         You can also add an index on the getIdentifiers() method. However, the Identifier class should properly implement the equals() and hashCode() methods, and in order to be able to use an ordered index (you don't need that for the current requirements you listed), it should also implement Comparable.

  • How to Create a Custom Integrator in R12 based on a Query set

    Hi Everyone,
    I am very much new to web adi. I got an unique requirement which I am finding it difficult. I did searched through the entire documentation/blogs/forums and I didnt find any suitable answer. Please let me know if anybody can throw some pointers here.
    My Requirement is as follows
    1) Using WEB ADI I need to update the data to collections responsibility ( I need to update unpaid reason code column and notes column for transactions)
    2) So to start up with I need to design my excel template first with a query region to download the data. This query region may have 5-6 parameters like transaction number, customer name, customer number. When I click the submit button in query region, The data should be retrieved from database and should display in the same excel sheet.
    3) Now for the data fetched from database, I need to update some of the columns and then again upload it back to EBS. I need to enable some of the columns to be LOV's.
    Now My Questions are
    1) Is this building a parameter based query then downloading to excel and then after modifying uploading back to EBS. Is this possible with WEB ADI. If this is doable then please let me know.
    2) Unfortunately there are no interface tables or public API's available for collections responsibility then how one can update the data
    Also
    I was trying to create a custom integrator a basic one to insert the data to a custom table. I had used HR Integrator set up for creating custom integrator.Enabled all the profile options functions and menus. But now I am stuck at a point I am unable to create a layout whenever I choose my custom integrator and then tries to create a layout I get the following error:
    No columns have been defined in the column list.
    Once this can be resovled then I can fo for column mapping and then test a custom load. Can anybody please let me know what am I missing here after following each procedures.
    Your inputs are appreciated. I am in great need of your suggestions pretty urgently
    Thanks and Regards
    Keshava

    Hi,
    The answer to your query is 'Yes'. You need to design a 'UPDATE' metadata type custom integrator. The custom integrator shall use a parameter based view to first download data and then use a PL/SQL wrapper/API to re-upload it back. The brief steps are listed below:
    1. Create a 'UPDATE' metadata type custom integrator. Give a parameter list name, std/custom view for data download and a PL/SQL wrapper.
    2. Create a form function and associate the form function with the custom integrator created.
    3. Add the form function to the std WebADI menu for access.
    4. Define a layout for the custom integrator defined.
    4. To create a parameter use the standard integrator 'HR Standalone Query'. As a part of this integrator you can define the SQL WHERE clause (parameter based) that you will like to use with the custom/std view defined in the custom integrator definition.
    Note: You can use a max of 5 parameters only. For each parameter, one needs to define the datatype and also the HR standalone query has a size limitation of 2000 chars in 11i10. You increase this length you may apply patch - 3494588 to get 4000 chars.
    Hope this information helps.

  • Query In SP runs 10x slower than straight query - NOT Parameter Sniffing Issue

    Hi Everyone,
    I have a real mystery on my hands that appears to be a parameter sniffing issue with my SP but I think is not. I have tried every parameter sniffing workaround trick in the book ( local variables, option recompile, with recompile, optimize for variables,UNKNOWN,
    table hints, query hints, MAXDOP, etc.) I have dropped indexes/recreated indexes, updated statistics, etc. I have restored a copy of the DB to 2 different servers ( one with identical HW specs as the box having the issue, one totally different ) and the SP
    runs fine on those 2, no workarounds needed. Execution plans are identical on all boxes. When I run a profiler on the 2 different boxes however, I see that on the server having issues, the Reads are around 8087859 while the other server with identical HW,
    the reads are 10608. Not quite sure how to interpret those results or where to look for answers. When the sql server service is restarted on the server having issues and the sp is run, it runs fine for a time ( not sure how long ) and then goes back to its
    snail pace speed. Here is the profile trace:
    Here is the stored procedure. The only modifications I made were the local variables to eliminate the obvious parameter sniffing issues and I added the WITH NOLOCK hints:

  • Issue with using GET n SET Parameter in module pool programming.

    Hello Friends,
                         I am using SET n GET Parameter to access input values from a screen. But when I use it, the values are not transfered back n forth. Getting initial values.
    Your expertise would be appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Senthil

    Hi,
    check this
    Filling an Initial Screen using SPA/GPA Parameters
    To fill the input fields of a called transaction with data from the calling program, you can use the SPA/GPA technique. SPA/GPA parameters are values that the system stores in the global, user-specific SAP memory. SAP memory allows you to pass values between programs. A user can access the values stored in the SAP memory during one terminal session for all parallel sessions. Each SPA/GPA parameter is identified by a 20-character code. You can maintain them in the Repository Browser in the ABAP Workbench. The values in SPA/GPA parameters are user-specific.
    ABAP programs can access the parameters using the SET PARAMETER and GET PARAMETER statements.
    To fill one, use:
    SET PARAMETER ID <pid> FIELD <f>.
    This statement saves the contents of field <f> under the ID <pid> in the SAP memory. The code <pid> can be up to 20 characters long. If there was already a value stored under <pid>, this statement overwrites it. If the ID <pid> does not exist, double-click <pid> in the ABAP Editor to create a new parameter object.
    To read an SPA/GPA parameter, use:
    GET PARAMETER ID <pid> FIELD <f>.
    This statement fills the value stored under the ID <pid> into the variable <f>. If the system does not find a value for <pid> in the SAP memory, it sets SY-SUBRC to 4, otherwise to 0.
    To fill the initial screen of a program using SPA/GPA parameters, you normally only need the SET PARAMETER statement.
    The relevant fields must each be linked to an SPA/GPA parameter.
    On a selection screen, you link fields to parameters using the MEMORY ID addition in the PARAMETERS or SELECT-OPTIONS statement. If you specify an SPA/GPA parameter ID when you declare a parameter or selection option, the corresponding input field is linked to that input field.
    On a screen, you link fields to parameters in the Screen Painter. When you define the field attributes of an input field, you can enter the name of an SPA/GPA parameter in the Parameter ID field in the screen attributes. The SET parameter and GET parameter checkboxes allow you to specify whether the field should be filled from the corresponding SPA/GPA parameter in the PBO event, and whether the SPA/GPA parameter should be filled with the value from the screen in the PAI event.
    When an input field is linked to an SPA/GPA parameter, it is initialized with the current value of the parameter each time the screen is displayed. This is the reason why fields on screens in the R/3 System often already contain values when you call them more than once.
    When you call programs, you can use SPA/GPA parameters with no additional programming overhead if, for example, you need to fill obligatory fields on the initial screen of the called program. The system simply transfers the values from the parameters into the input fields of the called program.
    However, you can control the contents of the parameters from your program by using the SET PARAMETER statement before the actual program call. This technique is particularly useful if you want to skip the initial screen of the called program and that screen contains obligatory fields.
    If you want to set SPA/GPA parameters before a program call, you need to know which parameters are linked to which fields on the initial screen. A simple way of doing this is to start the program that you want to call, place the cursor on the input fields, and choose F1 followed by Technical info. The Parameter ID field contains the name of the corresponding SPA/GPA parameter. Alternatively, you can look at the screen definition in the Screen Painter.
    The technical information for the first input field of the booking transaction TCG2 looks like this:
    The SPA/GPA parameter for the input field Company has the ID CAR. Use this method to find the IDs CON, DAY, and BOK for the other input fields.
    The following executable program is connected to the logical database F1S and calls an update transaction:
    REPORT BOOKINGS NO STANDARD PAGE HEADING.
    TABLES SBOOK.
    START-OF-SELECTION.
      WRITE: 'Select a booking',
      SKIP.
    GET SBOOK.
      WRITE: SBOOK-CARRID, SBOOK-CONNID,
             SBOOK-FLDATE, SBOOK-BOOKID.
      HIDE:  SBOOK-CARRID, SBOOK-CONNID,
             SBOOK-FLDATE, SBOOK-BOOKID.
    AT LINE-SELECTION.
      SET PARAMETER ID: 'CAR' FIELD SBOOK-CARRID,
                        'CON' FIELD SBOOK-CONNID,
                        'DAY' FIELD SBOOK-FLDATE,
                        'BOK' FIELD SBOOK-BOOKID.
      CALL TRANSACTION 'BOOK'.
    The basic list of the program shows fields from the database table SBOOK according to the user entries on the selection screen. These data are also stored in the HIDE areas of each line.
    If the user selects a line of booking data by double-clicking, the system triggers the AT LINE-SELECTION event and takes the data stored in the HIDE area to fill them into the SPA/GPA parameters of the initial screen of the transaction. Then it calls the transaction. Since you do not suppress the initial screen using AND SKIP FIRST SCREEN, the initial screen may appear as follows:
    If you would use the AND SKIP FIRST SCREEN option with the CALL TRANSACTION statement, the second screen would appear immediately, since all obligatory fields of the first screen are filled.

    HIDE
    The HIDE statement is one of the fundamental statements for interactive reporting. You use the HIDE technique when creating a basic list. It defines the information that can be passed to subsequent detail lists.
    You use the HIDE technique while creating a list level to store line-specific information for later use. To do so, use the HIDE statement as follows:
    HIDE <f>.
    This statement places the contents of the variable <f> for the current output line (system field SY-LINNO) into the HIDE area. The variable <f> must not necessarily appear on the current line.
    To make your program more readable, always place the HIDE statement directly after the output statement for the variable <f> or after the last output statement for the current line.
    As soon as the user selects a line for which you stored HIDE fields, the system fills the variables in the program with the values stored. A line can be selected
    by an interactive event.
    For each interactive event, the HIDE fields of the line on which the cursor is positioned during the event are filled with the stored values.
    by the READ LINE statement.
    You can think of the HIDE area as a table, in which the system stores the names and values of all HIDE fields for each list and line number. As soon as they are needed, the system reads the values from the table.
    The example below presents some of the essential features of interactive reporting. The basic list contains summarized information. By means of the HIDE technique, each detail list contains more details.
    u can use
    To read a line from a list after an interactive list event, use the READ LINE statement:
    READ LINE <lin> [INDEX <idx>]
    [FIELD VALUE <f1> [INTO <g 1>] ... <f n> [INTO <g n>]]
    [OF CURRENT PAGE|OF PAGE <p>].
    <b>Before call transaction print content on output.
    Check it out.</b>
