JRC thick client dynamic parameter issue

Hello,
I am creating a thick client report viewer using CR for Java (v 12) to accompany our Java database client app and I am having trouble with reports that have parameter lists that should populate with database data when a rpt file is opened.
For example, our users create groups of records in an Oracle database.  The report, upon opening, should prompt the user to select a group to use with the report.  The prompt appears, but the list of available group name values is empty.  The report populates the list as expected in both the XI and 2008 designer software, but no dice when the rpt file is opened via the ReportViewerBean.  If the group name is manually typed in, the report runs, so the replaceConnection seems to be working.
I have looked through all of the examples, but I can't find one that addresses database-populated parameter lists specifically for a thick-client app.  Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks.
-Andrea

Hi Ted,
Yes, I'm using the latest CR4E and it's the web viewer.
I've got more information from the report designer in how the dynamic lists were created in case there is something in there that hints at why it isn't working in our case. The reports are created in Crystal Reports 2008.
From Field Explorer select New Param, under list of values select Dynamic. In Value column select the field name. Set Allow Multiple values to true.
Then under the Select Expert choose Record. Select the field to link. Choose is Equal to and then choose the parameter created above.
In code I'm not doing anything related to these lists.
ReportClientDocument clientDoc = new ReportClientDocument();
clientDoc.setReportAppServer("inproc:jrc");
clientDoc.open(fullPath, OpenReportOptions.openAsReadOnly.value());
CRJavaHelper.replaceDBConnection(clientDoc, username,
                         password, dbConnectionUrl, driverClassName, "",
                         schema);
clientDoc.save();
CRJavaHelper.addDiscreteParameterValue(clientDoc, "",
          producedByNameKey, producedByName);
CRJavaHelper.addDiscreteParameterValue(clientDoc, "",
          logoKey, reportLogoUrl);
reportSource = clientDoc.getReportSource();
CrystalReportViewer crystalReportPageViewer = new CrystalReportViewer();
crystalReportPageViewer.setReportSource(reportSource);
crystalReportPageViewer.setOwnPage(true);
crystalReportPageViewer.processHttpRequest(req, resp,
               getServletContext(), null);
Is there anything to be done in code to get it to work?
Regards,
Patrick

  • Dynamic Parameter Issue - Crystal XI

    I've been working in 9 and 10 for a couple of years, and have recently moved to 11 to create some reports for a client.  I have an issue with creating a dynamic parameter in Crystal 11 - it won't allow me to select dynamic (as in the radio button is grayed out).  I've searched through the options, created RDO and DAO connections to both the Access database and the Xtreme Sample database, all to no avail.  Any thoughts or suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Ian

    After searching, I stumbled across the answer in this document: [XI Features by Version|http://www.businessobjects.com/pdf/products/crystalreports/crxi_feat_ver_ed.pdf]
    It strikes me as a little odd, in the Comprehensive formating and Design Control section it lists "Parameter fields" as available for all versions, but in the Report Viewing and Interaction section it lists "Dynamic and Cascading Prompts" as available only in Developer and Pro ... it even identifies at the end of the document that "Dynamic and Cascading Prompts can be viewed, but cannot be designed in the Standard Edition".
    So, this begs the next question, if I create a report using parameters based on a database column in Crystal 10, then open it in Crystal XI, will the dynamic prompts work?  I may have to try...

  • Java Thick Client Parameter bug

    Hi Sean,
    The Crystal Report for Eclipse is looking awsome but you provided more functionalities for web development partial with standalone application's
    Also I think you have removed the dependency of CRCONFIG.xml for Java Thick Client(Stand Alone) ,so I think i dont need to place the CRCONFIG.xml in class path ,so its very nice.
    Presently I am using the latest jars provided in crystal report for eclipse.Prior to this I was using jars from ftp1.businessobjects.com/outgoing/ehf/CE/XI/JRCPatch.zip
    In that version of jars if my report XYZ.rpt has some paremeters and if i dont set the parameter values then the JAVA THICK CLIENT(REportViewerFrame) used to provide me a dialog in which i can padd the parameter for the report.
    Noe in the latest version of jars provided in eclipse the JAVA THICK CLIENT does not show the dialog nor does it opens the report instead it logs as
    "Some parameters are missing values"
    I dont know if I am missing something.
    Please guide on this.
    Also I want to ask that the Printing/Viewing issue has been fixed for Java Thick Client I had report about this few months back.
    We are very excited to use the Crystal Reports for Java but the (Java Thick Clinet)so Please help us we want to get rid of native code.
    Thanks,
    Debraj.

    <p>Hi Debraj,<br />     Providing more thick-client support is definitely an area we will look at resolving in the next release of CR4E. In the meantime you may find the following whitepaper useful:</p><p><a href="/node/321"><u><strong>http://diamond.businessobjects.com/node/321</strong></u></a></p><p>This will explain the necessary steps to create a thick-client application using CR4E. It sounds like your JAR files may be out of synch. We use the thick-client viewer for our Preview tab in the CR4E designer so you should notice pretty much exactly the same behaviour in your application. </p><p>Regards,<br />Sean Johnson (CR4E Product Manager) <br /><br /> <a href="http://www.eclipseplugincentral.com/Web_Links-index-req-ratelink-lid-639.html">Rate this plugin @ Eclipse Plugin Central</a>          </p>

  • List of Values (dynamic parameter) times out once and then works.

    Hello.  First time posting here.  I'm having a strange (yet very predictable) issue with Crystals Reports List of Values.  The List of Values is used on a dynamic cascading prompt and is published to the BO XI R2 repository.  The prompt/list works fine when using Crystal Reports thick client, but when using the Crystal Reports viewer from InfoView the following happens everytime:
    1.  Any Report that uses the Parameter/LOV is launched.
    2.  After about 1-2 minutes, the viewer returns a "Timeout" error message.
    3.  The report is launched a 2nd time.
    4.  The parameters/LOVs display (takes about 8 seconds) and the report runs fine.
    Then anytime a report is run within a certain period of time it works ok.  But if no one runs a report for an extended period of time (i'm not sure how long, but it's on the order of maybe 30 mins.. to an hour), then it starts all over again.  In addition, if I restart the services/server this same thing will immediately occur.  (time out once, but work after that for a period of time).
    I initially did not schedule the LOV to get generated on the server and left it so that it's done in real-time when the report ran.  But then when I ran into this error, I tried scheduling it every 10 minutes or so, but the error continues to happen.
    I also restarted the server/etc to no avail.
    I saw another post on here that was kind of similar and that suggested that starting the LOV services as a domain user (that had admin rights on the BO server) helped him.  I tried this as well and restarted everything but that didn't fix my issue.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Scott

    Just wanted to update this.
    Because I use Business Objects OEM, I didn't have direct support with SAP/Business Objects.  However, because of this issue (and other issues) we purchased Business Objects Edge 3.0.
    After getting BOE 3 installed/configured, I migrated those reports and underlying Business Views over.
    And guess what?   The problem still occurred on the new platform.
    I then created a support incident and the person that initially tried to help me couldn't figure out what was going on.
    However, during that time, I did try re-creating the report using a newer version of Crystal (Crystal 2008) and the problem went away.  (note, I didn't recreate the business views.. just the reports).
    So bottom line:
    I created all reports from scratch instead of using the reports that I migrated from BO XI R2/CR XI and no longer had the problem.
    The techs never figured out the exact cause of the issue.
    So far, my experience with their support has been the same on all incidents.  They don't seem to be trained (at least at the 1st level) for actually using the debug/logs/etc to help quickly pinpoint/analyze issues.  They do basically like I do (the end user) and smartly poke around and do trail/error.  I have yet to get a support tech that knew the exact nature of my issue and could solve it without this kind of trial/error approach.

  • Problems with thick client

    I am porting our old Crystal COM interface to JRC using CR4E2. The application will have to run as thick client.
    Using the hints from this forum I proceeded a long way, but there remain some questions :
    1 is it possible tu use user defined functions that reside in DLL when running the report from JRC ?
    2 I did not find a possibility to send a report to a specified printer when using JRC in a thick client. Will there ever be such a function ?
    3 I encounter problems when I try to close a report after viewing it with ReportViewerBean.
       I catch the event of closing the viewer frame and execute the following Code.  What is wrong with it?
      // reportViewer is an instance of ReportViewerBean
    reportViewer.stopAllCommands();
      //  reportViewer.isBusy();                      returns false here
      reportViewer.stopViewer();
      // reportViewer.getCanCloseCurrentView ();  returns false here
      clientDoc.getReportSource().dispose();
      clientDoc.close();
      // clientDoc.isOpen()                       returns true here
      reportViewer.stop();
      reportViewer.destroy ();
      This results in additional memory allocated every time I start a new report.
      The sequence
        clientDoc.getReportSource().dispose();
        clientDoc.close();
      works fine after exporting a report to PDF for example
    In order to fully implement the JRC interface it would be very helpful, to have an answer to these questions
    Thanks,
    Manfred

    Is there any known solution to this problem?
    I am facing the same issue. The report viewer's thread still seems to be running in the background after performing the calls in the given order.
    I have noticed that the JVM constantly consumes about 30% of the systems computation time after displaying the Report Viewer Frame, indicating that it is running into an endless loop somwhere there.

  • Intermitten message "u00C9chec de la connexion au serveur" in a thick client

    In a java thick client (JRC) and use of a POJO resultset, we have a intermitten message "Échec de la connexion au serveur" or "Failed connextion to server".
    Can you help me ?
    We use a Crystal Reports XI R2 SP2 and the JRC, Crystal Report Viewer 2.1.21.2.
    Thanks !

    When you say the issue is intermittent, is it random, or consistent depending on an action - running a report a second time, etc?
    What database type was the report designed against - POJO, or some other database type?
    The basis for the error message you're getting is that something went wrong when trying to connect to the data source to retrieve data.
    More information is required to narrow down this issue.
    Have you turned on Log4J logging, and looked at the trace output?
    JRC comes with a sample log4j.properties file, that you can edit to configure the logging.  If you set the debug level from ERROR or WARN to DEBUG, you'd get far more info as to what may have gone wrong.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • CR2011 Dynamic Parameter does not show list at all

    I am upgrading some Crystal Reports from CR 8.5 to 2011.  Some would be better served by using a dynamic parameter to allow the user to select the data for the parameter from the database information.  I have created a dynamic parameter on the Customer ID and set the description to be the customer name.  I have set it to handle multiple values.
    When I preview the report in the Crystal designer, I get a text box to type in but not a drop down.  To be clear, I am not talking about the LOV 1000 limit here.  There are only 50 customers in the sample file I am working with.  I tried turning the static parameter into a dynamic one, I deleted the original parameter and created a new one.
    In case it matters, the parameter is only used as part of the selection formula and if I enter a proper customer id, it will retrieve the data.  This report has about 7 tables (no stored procedures or views) and a subreport of two tables that is linked to the main report on the customer id.  The parameter is only used on the main report for record selection.  The SQL statement in the main report and subreport did need to be reset when I first opened the report in CR2011 but I did that on both.  I have verified the database and the option to verify on first refresh is checked.  The original parameter did have an imported list of about 3000 customer names.  I tried exporting the CR template to a new file and while the file size changed, the behaviour did not.
    When I create a brand new report on two of the tables, including the same customer table, and create the parameter the same way, it shows me the list properly in a dropdown at the prompt stage.
    I am not sure where to go here or what else to try.  If anyone has any suggestions, I appreciate the help. TIA, rasinc

    Thank for the reply Dell,
    I see the logic in adding the extra table and keeping it unlinked and I do know the crazy data that can come up if I use it linked to other tables or use the fields in other parts of the programming.
    However, I've now tried it several times, creating the parameter on just the name alone, with the ID alone, etc. and I still only get a text box to type into.
    I have made sure the original selection criteria
    {customer.Id} = {?Customer}
    if from the original table, not the new one, which I assume you expected me to do.
    So I decided to run the same report through CR XIR2.  When I update the Set Datasource Location, I am now getting the message
    "Invalid Argument provided.
    Details: The alias requested 'company', contains a combination of characters which is not considered to be valid"
    Company is a table containing information about the main company, not the customers.  The same message pops up for another table as well.
    Then I get a message that says:
    "Prompting failed with the following error message: 'List of Values failure: fail to get values. [Cause of error: The table company does not exist in the document.]'
    Error source: prompt.dll Error code: 0x8004380D"
    This appears to be a database access issue but I know the firewalls are not a problem because I can create a new report and get the LOV properly with the same database and same desktop computer.  I can take that report created in CR2011 and use it in CRXI also and get the proper LOV.  Is it possible I am dealing with template corruption because there were so many items imported into the static list before?

  • Why Dynamic Parameter is not working, when i create report using stored procedure ?

    Hi all
    Why Dynamic Parameter is not working, when i create report XI using stored procedure ?
    Only i shaw those parameters which i used in my stored procedure, the parameter which i create dynamic using stored procedure
    is not shown to me when i referesh the report for viewing the results.
    I have used the same procedure which i mention below but can not seen the last screen which is shown in this .
    ============================================================================================
    1. Select View > Field Explorer2. Right-click on Parameter Fields and select New from the right-click menu.3. Enter u201CCustomer Nameu201D as the name for your parameter4. Under u201CList of Valuesu201D select u201CDynamicu201D5. Under the Value column, click where is says u201Cclick here to add itemu201D and select Customer Name from the drop-down list. The dialog shown now look like the one shown below in Figure 1. Click OK to return to your report design.
    Dynamic Parameter Setup6. Next, select Report > Select Expert, select the Customer Name field and click OK.7. Using the drop-down list beside select u201CIs Equal Tou201D and using the drop-down list, select your parameter field (it should be the first field). 8. Click OK to return to your report design and see the parameter dialog.The parameter dialog will appear and show you a dynamic list of values that is updated each time your run your report. It couldnu2019t be easier! In our next tutorial, we will be looking at how to use this feature to create cascading parameter fields, where the values are filtered by the preceding selection.
    Dynamic Parameters in Action
    My question is that whether dynamic parameter is working with storedprocedure or not.
    When i added one table and try to fetch records using dyanmic prameters. after that i am not be able to find the dynamic parameter option when i referesh my report.
    One more thing when i try the static parameter for my report, the option i see when i referesh the screen.
    Please reply soon , it's urgent

    Hi Kishore,
    I have tested the issue step by step by following you description, while the first issue works well in my local environment. Based on my research, this can be caused by the lookup expression or it indeed return Male value based on the logic. If you use the
    expression below, it will indeed only return the Male record. So please try to double-check the record in the two datasets and the expression in your environment:
    =lookup(first(Fields!ProgramID.Value,"DataSet1"),Fields!ProgramID.Value,Fields!Gender.Value,"DataSet2")
    As to the second issue, please try to use the following expression:
    =Count(Lookup(fields!ProgramID.value,fields!ProgramID.value,fields!Gender.value,"DataSet2"))
    Besides, if this issue still exist, in order to trouble shoot this issue more efficiently, could you please post both the .rdl  file with all the size properties to us by the following E-mail address?  It is benefit for us to do further analysis.

  • Report Viewer Dynamic Parameter List not showing a complete list of values

    Hi, I have installed the crystal report runtime 13.0.1.220 for framework 4.0 in a 64-bit windows 7 professional server.
    I have an aplication that opens crystal reports using the crystal report viewer control for visual studio 2010, also version 13.0.1.220.
    ISSUE: The report opens fine, but it does not shows all the available values in the dynamic parameter list.
    I have tried setting the MaxRowsetRecords registry key to diferent values but it does not work.
    I do not have any crystal report stand alone version installed in my server.
    Please help me?

    Hi Ludek,
    yes i followed the instructions of the KBase you are mentioning, but it isn't working for me.
    I modified the following keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework4.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV
    and
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework4.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV
    1) I had to create the LOV key under the DatabaseOptions in both keys.
    2) Inside the LOV keys I created the new string value MaxRowsetRecords and set the value to different values. (Ex: 5000, 10000 and 1000000)
    3) I restarted my server. Still not working.
    4) Then after that i modified the following registry keys: (leaving the first 2 keys modified)
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework4.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV
    and
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework4.0\Crystal Reports Designer Component\DatabaseOptions\LOV
    5) Also had to create the LOV key under the DatabaseOptions in both keys.
    6) Inside the LOV keys I created the new string value MaxRowsetRecords and set the value to different values. (Ex: 5000, 10000 and 1000000)
    7) Restarted my server. still not working
    8)  Then after that i modified the following registry key: (leaving the first 4 keys modified)
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework4.0\Crystal Reports Designer Component\ReportView
    Inside this key I created the DWORD PromptingLOVBatchSize and gave it a decimal value of 1000000
    9) Restarted the server. Still not working. For crying out LOUD!!

  • -t2cGetCharSet error when using thick client with 1.0.0.15.57

    I think I have found a bug in 1.0.0.15 related to accessing a database using the thick client. I have tested this with 1.0.0.14 release of SQLDeveloper and that version DOES work OK.
    Simply put, I try connecting to a database using the 10g Client on Windows XP and I get "Failure: -t2cGetCharSet" error when running 1.0.0.15.57. I must use 10g thick client so that I can use encyption between the client and the database. 9i thick client doesn't work between Windows and Linux when using encryption. Also, instant client isn't an option; it doesn't support Advanced Security Option (encryption).
    I DID test without encryption enabled to eliminate that as a possible cause and the results were the same.
    If need be, I could back down to 1.0.0.14, but I would prefer not to.

  • How to pass dynamic parameter to a database function in OBIEE

    Hi,
    I have a requirement like this. I have to create one report in OBIEE which was in Discoverer. Now in discoverer report there are some calculated item in the worksheet based on database pkg.functions. The parameter which user gives at run time that parameters are then passed to the discoverer calculated items dynamically. But I am not able to do this in OBIEE answers.
    Can anyone tell me step by step how I can able to pass the user selected parameter values in OBIEE answer level.
    The example:
    GET_COMM_VALUE_PTD("AFE Cost & Commitment".Afe Id,:"Period Name(AFE)","AFE Cost & Commitment".Data Sel,"AFE Cost & Commitment".Org Id)
    GET_COMM_VALUE_PTD --- Function database
    ("AFE Cost & Commitment".Afe Id,:"Period Name(AFE)","AFE Cost & Commitment".Data Sel,"AFE Cost & Commitment".Org Id --- Parameters... :"Period Name(AFE)" is the dynamic parameter selected run time by user.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    Titas

    Hi,
    I already did that. But the existing discoverer re value report is showing correct value but the OBIEE report with EVALUATE function shows incorrect value.
    The requirement is to create a OBIEE Dashboard from a Discoverer existing report. Now in discoverer report theere are several calculated items in worksheet level where database custom function is used and user selected parameter value is passed run time in that function. But when that is created in OBIEE with EVALUATE function in RPD, the report shows incorrect data. Could not understand how to pass the parameter value runtime.
    Below is the discoverer 'Show SQL' query and EVALUATE function syntax which has been used.
    SELECT APPS.XXBG_PL_PROJ_ANALYSIS_AFE_PKG.GET_COMM_VALUE_PTD(XXBG_PL_PROJ_AFE_V.AFE_ID,
    :"Period Name(AFE)",
    XXBG_PL_PROJ_AFE_V.DATA_SEL,
    XXBG_PL_PROJ_AFE_V.ORG_ID),
    XXBG_PL_PROJ_AFE_V.AFE_DESC,
    XXBG_PL_PROJ_AFE_V.AFE_NUMBER,
    XXBG_PL_PROJ_AFE_V.APPROVED_AFE_AMOUNT
    FROM APPS.PA_PERIODS_ALL PA_PERIODS_ALL,
    APPS.XXBG_PL_PROJ_AFE_V XXBG_PL_PROJ_AFE_V
    WHERE ((XXBG_PL_PROJ_AFE_V.ORG_ID = PA_PERIODS_ALL.ORG_ID))
    AND (XXBG_PL_PROJ_AFE_V.DATA_SEL = :"Data Selection(AFE)")
    AND (PA_PERIODS_ALL.PERIOD_NAME = :"Period Name(AFE)")
    AND (XXBG_PL_PROJ_AFE_V.AFE_NUMBER = :"AFE Number(AFE)")
    AND (XXBG_PL_PROJ_AFE_V.OPERATING_UNIT = :"Operating Unit(AFE)")
    The EVALUATE function syntax is as below:
    EVALUATE('XXBG_PL_PROJ_ANALYSIS_AFE_PKG.GET_COMM_VALUE_PTD(%1,%2,%3,%4)' AS FLOAT , "BG PL Project Analysis Report_1"."AFE Cost & Commitment"."AFE Cost & Commitment.Afe Id", "BG PL Project Analysis Report_1"."Periods 1"."Periods 1.Period Name", "BG PL Project Analysis Report_1"."AFE Cost & Commitment"."AFE Cost & Commitment.Data Sel", "BG PL Project Analysis Report_1"."AFE Cost & Commitment"."AFE Cost & Commitment.Org Id")
    The PERIOD needs to be passed at run time which user will select.
    Please help to solve the issue.

  • Dynamic parameter selection from infoview not storing the sql password

    We are having the problem of dynamic parameter selection from infoview not storing the sql password as it does for the actual report. We are using Crystal Reports XI Release 2 version 11.5.3.438 (Not sure of SP level, asked in separate thread).
    To be more specific.
    We have created a report that dynamically populates the parameters of the report by pulling the records from the Informix sql database and allowing selection from there.
    In the Central Management Console for the report object we have set as follows:
    Process - Database:
    Use original database logon information from the report - the sql username and pw etc
    Use same database logon as when report is run
    Process - Parameters
    In selecting a default selection there is the option to put in the sql password, however, this does not stick and clears after update.
    As such the end result is that every time this report is run from infoview and a user chooses a parameter (there are 5), crystal goes through some timeout for about a minute or so and then requests the sql password, if a user then selects the next parameter, the same timeout and password dialog appears.
    We need the crystal report to handle to the sql password for fetching the parameters as well as for the database section of running the report, however, the parameters insists on the end user always putting the password in.
    This is 100% replicatable on our system.
    Any way that we can fix this?
    Will an update fix this issue? If so could you please advise which one?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I am having the exact same problem. Any help?
    And what does "Use same database logon as when report is run" mean? For me that would be that no prompt is needed for getting values in a dynamic parameter...

  • Dynamic Parameter Prompting for Database Connection Password When schedulin

    I'm having problems with Dynamic Parameters when I try to schedule a report in InfoView.
    I create the report in Crystal Reports XI and publish it to the Crystal Server. I go into CMC and under Process:Database set the correct data source and enter the server, database, user and password.
    When the report is run I can choose a dynamic parameter and the reports runs fine - it's when I try to schedule the report and choose the parameter that I am asked to enter the user and password for the database.
    If the parameter is static it's fine and I don't get prompted. Because I want the end-users to schedule their own reports I need to have the user and password embedded in the report.
    From what I've read in the forums, there seems to be a lot of issues with dynamic parameters and database logons, and no real solutions. But this is just weird that it's only failing when I try to schedule the report!

    I am having the same issue.
    Issue started on 9/25/2008
    Existing BO 11r2 installation including service pack 2
    Windows Server 2003 Service pack 2
    Existing scheduled reports do not exhibit this behaviour and run correctly.
    Add new or update existing report. Log into the CMC as administrator and set process for database and parameters.
    Exit CMC
    log into Infoview.  Click on report and run (as administrator OR as existing user with permissions) NO PROBLEM.
    Log into Infoview as Administrator or existing users with permissions) as attempt to schedule report.  All reports Any dynamic parameter and request for user name and password opens.  Once the correct info is entered the report can be scheduled.
    This is a new issue on our installation, we have been running without problems for over a year.

    I have a report that I inherited.  It used commands instead of stored procedures to retrieve the data.  I needed the data in a stored procedure, so I went through and systematically switched everything over to the stored procedure fields.  When I thought I had it all moved over to the new fields, I deleted the commands.  I then went to publish the report using the Publishing Wizard.  It told me that I had unused parameters.  When I went back to check the report, I found 2 unused parameters.  I tried to delete or edit them and I can't do either function (I click the delete or edit option and nothing happens).  I tried adding the command back in, but I still couldn't delete them.  The parameters are definitely not being used anywhere in the report because:  1) I have checked everywhere and 2) they do not display the usual check mark when a field is being used.
    This is an extremely complex report, and it is database intensive on a production server (I've brought the system and its users to its knees by attempting to run the report.  It is designed to run at 5am and it still takes an hour).  So, I'd really rather not recreate the report.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    I saw someone else had this issue in April, 2007 (Can't delete a dynamic parameter from report), but it never got resolved (I imagine the user recreated the report).
    Thanks.
    Lisa

    Lisa,
    Just taking a guess here (being that I've never seen this happen before)...
    1st thing I'd try... Go back to an unaltered version of the report. and see if you can delete the parameter prior to any other modifications.
    2nd thing... Add the parameter to the report design and refresh. This should cause the parameters to prompt for values. Hopefully this will, in turn, allow you to modify the parameters.
