JRE 6_24 -Xmx1024m being defaulted to 247 MB

I am using <param name="java_arguments" value="-Xms256m -Xmx1024m"/>, but when our applet loads and runs it's memory check only 247m is being made available. I have been able to get it close to working by doing any of the following:
- Change -Xmx to 800m
- Remove my -Xms value
- Upgrade to JRE 6_26 and/or 6_31 - Everything working correctly on these versions, but I can't find anything in the release notes that say why.
We have workstations in other regions running the same OS and JRE that do not have this issue, but most everyone in our US offices can not work w/ -Xmx1024. I am trying to find a work around/fix or any official writeup from Oracle that discusses this issue.

Check the page source for that forms app. You'll likely see the following line:
<PARAM NAME="TYPE" VALUE="application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.6.0.11">
"jpi-version" forces a particular version. It's functionality has been replaced with "version".
In the formsweb.cfg file on the server, replace "jpi-version" with "version", and everything will work as it should.
Although Oracle now owns Java, it seems they don't even read their own updates:

SRM - Shopping Cart - UoM is being defaulted to EA automatically

Hi,
We are creating a shopping cart in SRM, and when we transfer items from the catalog to the shopping cart, the UOM is being defaulted to EA.
The product in question has a UOM in the catalog of Ctn3 (Carton 3), and this UOM is not available in the SRM system. We want the system to throw an error saying that the UOM is not found, but even after debugging we have failed to find a point where the UOM from catalog (Ctn3) is available in the system. It gets defaulted automatically to EA, and then there is no way of knowing whether the UOM from catalog was allowed or not. We found in the debugger stack that a kernel method in the class SRMNXP/CL_OCI_INBOUND_HDLR is being called first, through which the BADI BBP_CATALOG_TRANSFER is called, which we are implementing.
We think this might be due to some configuration, which is defaulting the UOM to EA, but have been unable to find one.
Any suggestions? Or any way of debugging it further?

I guess this is just the default value of SRM for every line. Please take a look at implementing BADI /SRMNXP/BD_CHANGE_DATA in there you can change default data.
As the UI5 is still quite new, also take a look on OSS or raise a message with SAP to confirm the behaviour.

I'm not sure I understand what you want - during a Java install, you're given the option to make the Sun JVM the IE default , or not.
After installation. this can be changed from the Browser tab of the Java Plug-in (in Windows, accessible from the Control Panel.)
AFAIK, Sun installer doesn't have switches.

Stopping iTunes being default music player

I have several players, such as RealPlayer, QuickTime and VLC, capable of playing mp3, AAIF and other types of music files already on my computer. Whenever I double-click one of these files, it is always iTunes that opens and starts playing the file. How can I prevent iTunes being the default player?

Select a document, choose Get Info from the File menu, specify the correct application under Open With, click on Change All, and confirm this action.

CS4 insists on being default app (over CS3)

I work on a PPC G5 (OS 10.5.8) with CS3. When we installed CS4 (the last version to support PPC?) the CS4 apps insist on being the default apps for all things Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. (WHY we'd like CS3 to be the default for awhile is another story...)
I've tried changing this setting via "Get Info" and "Open With", but it instantly resets from CS3 to CS4. I've even tried changing it with RCDefaultApp, but still no deal.
(I think I WAS able to change the .pdf default from Acrobat Pro to Preview...don't know why this one would work--but not the others.)
Anything else I can try?

There is no reason to uninstall CS4! But when you have multiple versions of an application installed, the newest one is the one that "wins" over older versions. That's perfectly normal behavior. Which means you need to be careful when opening a document and drag it to the correct version instead of just doubleclicking the document.
And set it back to open pdfs either in Acrpobat Pro or Adobe Reader. Preview will not show all that the Acrobat family will of a pdf.

Wrong Document Date being defaulted

We have came across a issue wherein system instead of picking current date is taking past date ex 27.03.2011.
In the Purchase Order,Goods Receipt,Goods Issue default date being picked by the system is the past data 27.03.2011 .Has anybody came across this issue.

Is that only happening for PO's, or is the overall system date wrong?
Follow the menu path System>Status and see if your logon date matches today's date. If not, take it up to BASIS.

How to prevent libraries from being default save location

Scenario:
Users start IE10 as a published Xenapp Application. From there, they should be able to save pages, etc, but only to a network drive. They have no access to the local computer.
I've succeeded in removing network, Libraries and favorites from the download-dialog. I've also managed to point it to default save path to a network drive. However, the path field in the save-dialog still shows Libraries\Documents. Thus, they can click
on Libraries, and browse, and access it that way. Which they will (trust me), just because they can.
So, why does it insist on referring to Libraries when I've removed all references to them? Anyone have a fix for this?

How do I stop web services driver being default?

Whenever I print, the default is set to a Web Services printer, and I have to change it to my normal network printer.
How can I change this? It's a pain having to remember to change to the nwtork printer option every time.
Can't see anywhere in "Support" about this, can't see anywhere I can change it under "Printers and Settings", Control Panel Device Manager or on the printer itself.

Navigate to this location on your laptop.
Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers
Under Printers and Faxes you can see all the printer drivers installed in your machine.
Selected any printer you want to set as default, right click on the icon and click "Set as Default Printer".

A better solution is if your email provider uses IMAP. IMAP sync email folders between multiple devices. Meaning any device will receive the email, all sent email can be seen on the devices. If you delete email from one device the email is deleted from all the other devices. Check with your email provider to see if they offer IMAP services.
If they do not your choices are to 1) configure email on the PC to keep Mail on the mail server or 2) change email providers to something like Gmail or Outlook.com (as examples). FWIW I use Cox IMAP email and fully sync email between a Win 8.1 Update 1 laptop, a Win 7 desktop, an iPad 4, an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 5S.

Product Release Date being default set to 01-Jan-2000 when exporting and importing product file

Just putting this out there to see if anyone else has experienced this problem.
We've just redeveloped an art site that relies on the product release date to order work, newest first, by the date they added it {tag_productlist,,,20,releasedate,true,true}
However, we've hit an issue whereby the 'release date' field is set to 01-Jan-2000 when we export and then import the product file, thus chnaging the ordering. The date can't be set on the import file (unlike web apps) and we haven't changed thousands of products manually. BC support have been stumped, suggesting it's our Mac's system date, but this is set automatically and accurate...and we don't want to change the release date anyway, that should just be the date the product was originally released.
Any thoughts or help would be greatfully received as this was a key part of the site design/development. This is the site http://hanguppictures.com

Ran into the same issue. I was using the release date to flag latest products, regardless of ordering. Unfortunately running a product import then destroyed all that work.
Found this thread with a staff reponse regarding it not being possible to set release dates using import, but it doesn't explain why release dates get reset.

We have migrated our System to BI 4.1 from XIR2. In R2 we had the option of pushing the Java version along with the WebI.
Similarly is there a way of pushing Java 1.7 with Launchpad BI 4.1?

Navaladi,
BI 4.x does NOT push the JRE to desktops anymore, you need to install on own. When the system realizes you don't have the proper JRE installed it re-redirects you to the internet site.

Yes, of course(I'm sorry, my last post wasn't so complete as it should be), exactly the same as it was with me... I've solved it at "the long way" (there must be a shorter way, something like an "abort"-way, but I don't know that way...). I've opened an extra account at yahoo (.ca or .com), which is easily to set in Mail (see in your yahoo mail > options). Than I have imported that mail-account into my Mail, so that I can use all the options (also mail>preferences). Than I have set my standard mail-application in the tab "general" into entourage. than it is just load your mail into netscape mail.

Stop Illustrator from being default player for Flash .swf files

Please help. I am on Mac OS X. I have the Adobe CS suite. I
have downloaded, uninstalled, and reinstalled the flash player.
However, whenever I download a flash file to play, it automatically
opens in Illustrator. But Illustrator doesn't recognize it as a
file so it doesn't open. I went through preferences and I can't
find anything that will get it to stop doing that. I don't know how
to get to the preferences for the flash player to change that. And
there isn't a way have it open up in flash player because the flash
player is not an actual application that comes up in the
applications list. There is a certain website that it is mainly
.swf flash files that I have not been able to access because of
this problem. What do I do?

Have you received information on how to change this
situation? My SWF files always open Illustrator, also.
