JRE Detection using javascript problem

I am using following code to detect the JRE is installed on machine or not.
it is working fine if the JRE is not installed.
But if it is installed , it gives the debugger error in internet explorer.
Here _ie == true means Internet Explorer condition.
if (_ie == true){ document.write('<OBJECT classid="clsid:8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93"
codebase="http://java.sun.com/update/1.4.2/jinstall-1_4-windows-i586.cab#Version=1,4,0,0" height=0 width=0');
document.write("<PARAM NAME=back VALUE=false>");
document.write("</OBJECT>");
I think it is trying to start webstart but resulting in error in Internet Explorer exe.
Please help it out.

Thanks Andrew, but my problem not solved yet.
I copied the deployJava.js in the destination folder where i have my html file.
but I am not able to call the methods in the deployJava.js .
Not able to see any affects while using those methods as below.
<script type="text/javascript" src="deployJava.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" >
//alert(deployJava.getJREs(););
document.write("Test");
deployJava.installLatestJRE();
</script>

  • JRE Detected---Version Collision problem!!--plz help..it's urgent

    Hello ,
    I am working on developing a upload component in applets that would be used to
    Let the user browse thru his/her local file system, select it and then upload that file
    to a Specific location on the server, during this file transfer operation it also
    Shows the bytes remaining and a progress bar with percentage.
    I have developed it already and my purpose is to make it available as a cross-
    Platform independent component that can simply be merged/used with just about
    any application developed in any language/or on any platform and so I developed
    it in java using applets, bcauz it has to run and be accessible via a browser.
    Now, the component is working fine but theres a problem to which I have not
    Found a complete and stable solution.
    The problem is with the JRE(Java Runtime Environment), that if the html page that
    Contains my applet does find a JRE already installed on someones browser but
    With a different version to that of which I have used for example(1.4.2_07-b05) it
    Gives an error saying jre detected-version collision and I understand fully by
    Looking up on net as to what this error means, but how do I remove this problem
    i.e. I simply want that (since I am already using the OBJECT tag in my html file)
    when my html page containing loads up in any ones browser then even if that
    browser doesnt contains a JRE in it, it should(my applet)should run, as I guess
    my browser only had a default MSJVM earlier and had no JRE for instance, still
    any site that I opened on net which contained applets , never gave me any such
    kind of error.?
    One temporary solution that I did, (although its not what I would like to do as it is
    not user friendly at all) is that in my OBJECT tag I had used a codebase attribute
    which contains the path of my jres exe file like this:
    I am giving here the complete code for my html file:
    <html>
    <OBJECT classid="clsid:8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93" name="Helper" width="900" height="200"
    codebase="http://10.11.13.63:8090/j2re-1_4_2_07-windows-i586-p.exe">
    <PARAM name="java_code" value="FileChooserDemo.class">
    <PARAM name="java_archive" value="filechooser.jar">
    <PARAM name="type" value="application/x-java-applet;version=1.4">
    <PARAM name="progressbar" value="true">
    <PARAM name="boxmessage" value="Please...wait..while..the..applet..starts..up">
    <COMMENT>
    <NOEMBED>
    </NOEMBED>
    </COMMENT>
    </OBJECT>
    </html>
    further I also have to take care that if the above problem occurs i.e.(JRE detected-version collsion) then I got to tell the user to first go into his/her control panel and then
    remove the JREs exe file from add/remove programs and then come back to his/her browser to get the JREs exe file downloaded automatically from the location of intranet
    (my web server path) and run itself and install it on his/her browser bcauz of the tag that
    I used above.
    But all this is not at all a user friendly solution and I would not want any user to go thru the hassle of all this.
    Can there be any way to let my applet run on any browser without the JRE problem ,
    Plz suggest as I have now fully developed my applet upload component after a months
    hard work , but is not able to now finally integrate it with our email server application that we have in our office, just bcauz of this problem..
    Thanks in anticipation
    Regards
    Sd76

    I don't know what version collition means but what jdk version you used to compile your
    applet?
    clsid:8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93 is dynamic versioning classid and
    allowes IE to run your applet with any installed jre without trying to install a newer one.
    Problem here is when you compiled with 1.5 and try to run it with an older version there
    might be some problems.
    Try to compile it with -source and -target option so your applet is compatible with 1.3
    http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/versions.html
    Another thing is that your platform independent file uploader will only run in active x
    enabled browsers like Microsoft Internet Explorer and not with mozilla(see link above) .

  • Acrobat X Form using Javascript problem

    I have a Acrobat Form which I originally created in Acrobat 7 Pro that has a button which executes many lines of javascript.  In the javascript there is a large if then else statement group that sets a variable.
    I have not worked on this form in many years and recently opened the form using Acrobat X Pro and edited all of the javascript code.  The problem is that when I save the document and click on the button it is still executing the previous javascript code for some reason.  I have looked everywhere I can think of to make sure there is no remnant of the old code left and cannot find any.  It seems like there is a cached copy of the old code somewhere that is being used.  I have looked in the properties of the button and in the all javascript area of the forms menu and cannot find any reference to the old code.
    Any Idea why this is happening?
    Nick B

    The Javascript code populates a field on the form and the If Then statement sets this value based on  the amount in another field.  I have changed all of the values in the If Then statement but the button is still using the old values.
    I have tried this on three different computers and it will not pick up the new values.

  • Detecting version using javascript or vbscript

    How may I detect JRE version through Javascript or VBScript?

    Because Sun chooses to use a weird format for their version numbers, and since Internet Explorer uses ActiveX objects instead of normal plug-ins, you'd have to write a script that could skim through the Windows registry to dig up what the latest version of the Java Plug-in is.
    Scanning through the registry isn't a problem, so much as the non-conventional versioning system that Sun has in place. With Netscape, Opera, and other non-ActiveX browsers, it's a piece of cake.

  • Detecting the JVM version using Javascript in IE

    Where can I find the neccessary code to detect the existance and version of the JRE/JVM installed on a client machine. I'm looking for something like this:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/jre_check/index.jsp
    I'm not a Java programmer, I don't know how to compile a class file. Can someone help? Thanks.

    What you reference is a JavaServerPage served from a server. It doesn't use Javascript.
    You don't give much information; take a look at these search hits and see if anything listed is what you're after. Some of the threads include Javascript code. (But I'm not very knowledgble of its details.) If not, post back with details, maybe someone then would be able to answer.

    But it is to do with Java and some people here may
    know the answer. I don't know the answer but I would
    like to.Yes some might know the answer, but I think you will find the answer faster if you google, or ask in a javascript forum.

  • Detecting Java Version using Javascript??

    Hi,
    This is a Javascript & Java question really. The problem i have is i want to detect what version of Java a user has.
    So using Javascript i can find if java is enabled like so:
    navigator.javaEnabled();
    but i want to know what version as well.
    I tried:
    var version = java.lang.System.getProperty("java.version");
    but had not luck. does anyone know if this is possible and if so how?
    thanks,
    Chris.

  • Problem with using javascript in interactive adobe form

    Hi All,
        I have a problem when accessing text field value which is present inside a subform using javascript.
    I tried giving data.page4.sub-5.<fieldname>.rawvalue but its not working. Please provide a solution.
    Thank you in Advance.

    Since this question is related to JavaScript running within the Form and not the connection between the form and Web Dynpro - it really belongs in the Interactive Forms by Adobe Forum.

  • Using javascript to detect the onclick event over a datatable row

    Hi all,
    I'm working with JSF 1.2 R.I. and I would like to add some javascript to my datatable to be able to control the onclick event on a row.
    At the moment I have just added a checkbox to be able to know which row the user wants to select but I'm not satisfied with this solution.
    <h:dataTable
    value="#{person_iupopulations_Observation.customer}" var="customer"
    rowClasses="evenRow,oddRow"
    cellspacing="0">
    <h:column>
    <f:facet name="header">
    <h:outputText value="Select" />
    </f:facet>
    <h:selectBooleanCheckbox value="" onclick="getRow(this)">
    </h:selectBooleanCheckbox>
    </h:column>
    <h:column>
    <f:facet name="header">
    <h:outputText value="Name" />
    </f:facet>
    <h:outputText value="#{customer.Name}"></h:outputText>
    </h:column>
    </h:dataTable>
    What I would like to achieve is:
    When the user clicks the row (wherever, not only the checkbox) the checkbox changes to the new value depending, off course, on the user's selection.
    For this purpose I would need to add the onclick event to every row and associate it to a javascript function to update the checkbox.
    Can anybody help me please.
    I appreciate any suggestion.
    Thanks in advance!

    I am looking for answers on how to use javascript to detect the onclick event over a datatable row . I have a selectBooleanCheckBox in one of the columns in the every row in the table. On click of the checkbox in any row of the table, I want to get some values from the selected row and also verify that the rest of the checkboxes in all the other columns are unchecked. I want to do this using javascript. If any of you have answers, please repsond. Thanks.

  • Problem using javascript to submit jsf form, values not submitted

    Greetings!
    I have a t:selectOneMenu where I want the page to be submitted when they change the selected value. At this point, I am able to get the form to submit and reload the page, which is all fine. The problem is that none of the values from the page are not set in the backing bean. I have break points on the setter methods that are not being hit.
    I have tried a number of things from searching multiple forums, but here are snippets from my latest version...
    <h:form>
    <t:commandLink id="hiddenLink" forceId="true" value="test link"
    action="#{pc_PageX.doBtnHiddenLinkAction}"></t:commandLink>
    <t:selectOneMenu id="pageList_top" forceId="true" value="#{pc_PageX.ValueX}"
         onchange="jspellSync(); submitPageX();">
         <f:selectItems value="#{pc_PageX.ListX}" />
    </t:selectOneMenu>
    </h:form>
    function submitPageX(){
         var hiddenLink = document.getElementById("hiddenLink");
         hiddenLink.click();
    }Note that the <t:commandLink> is not hidden, though it will be in the final version if I can get this to work.
    If I click the commandLink myself, the page is submitted with all the page values as expected. If I change the list value, thus using javascript to fire the commandLink's click event, the page is submitted with NO values.
    Can anyone come up with an explanation for this behavior? Or better yet, a solution?
    A couple other things I've tried...
    - Not using a commandLink and using jsf's submit function -> onchange="jspellSync(); submit();"
    - Clicking the link using other ways -> hiddenLink.fireEvent('onclick');
    If all else fails, I'll just add a button that they have to click to submit the form.

    I recall this problem in one of the ancient JSF versions. Which JSF version do you use? Do you have any room to upgrade to latest? We're using an IBM implementation of JSF, which is at version 7.0. The IBM implementation appears to be built on the JSF base 1.1.That's not an IBM JSF implementation, they do not have any one, they just have some component libraries which runs on top of some JSF implementation. RAD/WSAD ships by default with Sun JSF RI. Try upgrading to at least 1.1_02 which you can download from the aforementioned link. There's a gap of 2 years (and inherently a lot of bugfixes) compared to 1.1. If the application server used supports Servlet 2.5, you could even upgrade to the latest 1.2.
    We've had other issues with the IBM implementation, which could be the cause in this case too. We've been talking about switching to MyFaces, but there is one feature of the IBM version that we like. It's basically a script collector (hx:scriptCollector) that allows us to do pre-processing on the page.As said before, IBM does not have a JSF implementation. So replacing RI by MyFaces wouldn't make any difference.

  • Using javascript to detect JVM

    Hi all.
    I'm trying to use javascript to detect whether the JVM (either j2sdk or j2ee) has been installed and take the user to SUN web page if not.
    The original MS JVM is not useable for my purposes (does anyone use it?).
    I know how to detect browsers and plug-ins but not JVM.
    Can anyone help out please ?
    TIA :-)

    If you use the classid and codebase attributes of the <object and <embed tags, it will download automatically. Easiest is to use HTMLConverter. You can change codebase to point to somewhere on your network if not everyone has internet access. See [url http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/guide/plugin/developer_guide/using_tags.html]here

  • Character encoding problems when using javascript client-sdk for remoting

    Hi,
    I have recently downloaded LCDS to try.  I was interested in using Javascript for remoting.  I have a Java-based web application on the server side, and use HTML + Javascript (dataservices-client.js) to send/receive messages asynchronously in AMF format.
    I can both send and receive data (not only simple types, but objects with several attributes), however when I receive data from the server side that contains special chars (e.g. á, ï), I get some gibberish in my javascript objects. This is not same when I send content to the server: All special characters are received (printed) correctly in Java (server side).
    I inspired my coding with the simple example shown in https://blogs.adobe.com/LiveCycleHelp/2012/07/creating-web-applications-using-html5javascr ipt-remoting-client-sdk-with-livecycle-data-services.html
    Is there any bug on the serialization?
    My software version is Adobe LiveCycle es_data_services_JEE_4_7_all_win
    Java container is WebLogic 11g.
    Thanks
    =======
    Edited Apr 11 2014
    In my attempts, I tried using AMFX serialization so that I could see the message in a more comprehensible format inside my browser (eg using firebug).  After configuring an HTTP channel and destination in the server side, and adjusting accordingly in the client side code, the Javascript API still sends binary!
    Sadly, I concluded that client-SDK isn't mature enough...
    By the way, if you send an String like "&aacute" from the server, in the client you get "á"... instead of the raw "&aacute" ... they forgot escaping.

    hey,
    I had a similar experience. I was interfacing between 4.6 (RFC), PI and ECC 6.0 (ABAP Proxy). When data was passed from ECC to 4.6, RFC received them incorrectly. So i had to send trimmed strings from ECC and receive them as strings in RFC (esp for CURR and QUAN fields). Also the receiver communication channel in PI (between PI and  RFC) had to be set as Non unicode. This helped a bit. But still I am getting 2 issues, truncation of values and some additional digits !! But the above changes resolved unwanted characters problem like "<" and "#". You can find a related post in my id. Hope this info helps..

    Hi William,
    I am writting a sample code for you :
    go to code wizard, select your node VBAk (where you have the attribute VBLEN )
    and select the attribute. Now code will be automatically generated.
        DATA LO_ND_VBAk TYPE REF TO IF_WD_CONTEXT_NODE.
        DATA LO_EL_VBAk  TYPE REF TO IF_WD_CONTEXT_ELEMENT.
        DATA LS_VBAk  TYPE WD_THIS->ELEMENT_VBAk.
        DATA LV_VBLEN TYPE WD_THIS->ELEMENT_VBAk-VBLEN.
      navigate from <CONTEXT> to <VBAk> via lead selection
        LO_ND_VBAk = WD_CONTEXT->GET_CHILD_NODE( NAME = WD_THIS->WDCTX__VBAk ).
      get element via lead selection
        LO_EL_VBAk  = LO_ND_VBAk ->GET_ELEMENT( ).
      alternative access  via index
      lo_el_VBAk  = lo_nd_VBAk ->get_element( index = 1 ).
      @TODO handle not set lead selection
        IF LO_EL_VBAk  IS INITIAL.
        ENDIF.
      get single attribute
        LO_EL_VBAk ->GET_ATTRIBUTE(
          EXPORTING
            NAME =  `VBLEN`
          IMPORTING
            VALUE = LV_VBLEN ).
    Now based on the value LV_VBLEN select values from database table and fill the internal table.
    DATA LT_VBAk  TYPE WD_THIS->ELEMENTSVBAk.  " this the table to keep the values
    select VBLEN ERDAT ERNAM AUDAT from VBAK into table LT_VBAk where VBLEN = LV_VBLEN.
    Now you can bind the table to appropriate node.

  • Detecting java plugin using javascript

    Hello,
    actually I'm neither new to java (but I didn't find a more appropriate forum here) nor my question directly refers to java, instead it concerns javascript:
    I'm looking for a way to detect (inside an html-page) if the java plugin is installed (using javascript). What I don't need/want:
    - Start/use a java applet to check for it (or embed some <object...>-stuff, that probably makes the vm start or opens some dialog automatically)
    - use navigator.javaEnabled() (this merely tells you about the browser settings, not if the plugin is actually installed
    I've already found navigator.plugins to be useful, but this only works on firefox, mozilla etc, but not on IE or Opera.
    Any information or link etc. would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    I would like to have some script detecting any version of the java plugin (older versions as well).
    Anyway, if you only have a solution for newer versions or some vbscript creating an object... well, I would appreciate if you share it, too. Any help would be just fine :)
    P.S.: About the jws-code you mentioned: I'm new to VBScript. I found something similar I think, but it returns nothing:
    <script>
    function checkPlugin(){
    var r = detectIE("8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93","java");
    alert("RESULT = " + r);
    function detectIE(ClassID,name){
    result = false;
    alert(ClassID);
    document.writeln('<script language="VBscript">');
    document.writeln('\n on error resume next \n result = IsObject(CreateObject("' + ClassID + '"))');
    document.writeln('msgbox(IsObject(CreateObject("' + ClassID + '")))');
    document.writeln('</scr' + 'ipt>');
    if (result)
    return name+',';
    else return '';
    </script>Isn't that the way it's supposed to work (the vb is encapsulated to prevent some error messages on the mac, I think)? The classid should be correct, according to the registry.... So, how to do it?

  • Using javascript to call a signed applet's read/write functions problem.

    Hi, I wan't to use javascript to call the read/write functions of my signed java applet.
    The applet can read/write fine, if its called from inside the applet, but when I make public functions to do the read/write and then call those functions from javascript, i get the old security exception.
    Has anyone done this before?
    Thanks

    From what I understand is that for example file IO can only be done if the current method
    has this privilege and the stack that called the current method had this privilege.
    Javascript doesn't have any privilege and calling methods that do file IO directly from
    javascript should not work, this bug was fixed in 1.4.2.
    The workarround AccessController.doPrivileged(new PrivilegedAction() { might allso be
    fixed in later versions since changing the privileges of currently executing code is
    someting that should not be possible when the currently executing code is called from
    "untrusted" (javascript) code.
