JRE GIF Images Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Hello All,
There is an exploit in the wild for a vulnerability covered here:
http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/22085/exploit
It is on the following site: (Caution! Visiting any page on this site will cause the exploit to be executed, and I'm not convinced that the patch fully addresses it).
(CAUTION!) www.ebgenius.com (CAUTION!)
My question: Given the applet class file, which I've also decompiled, how can I determine what the payload for this vulnerability actually did on my machine? The payload is effectively a byte array that consists of byte code.
Is there someplace on this site that I can submit it?
Thanks for any help.

Right after installing Security Update 2006-004 (Intel) on my macbook pro I am having troubles with my wireless connectivity. Here is the dump from the console:
Aug 3 15:49:43 x-ray /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Resources/airport: Error: WirelessAssociate2() = 88001006 for network RadioActive
Aug 3 15:49:43 x-ray /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Resources/airport: Error: (had password)
Aug 3 15:49:51 x-ray /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Resources/airport: Error: WirelessAssociate2() = 88001006 for network RadioActive
Aug 3 15:49:51 x-ray /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Resources/airport: Error: (had password)
Aug 3 15:49:59 x-ray /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Resources/airport: Error: WirelessAssociate2() = 88001006 for network RadioActive
Aug 3 15:49:59 x-ray /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Resources/airport: Error: (had password)
I can reboot and it will work, but if I put my macbook to sleep it, when I wake it, it will do the same thing again.
I am also getting timeouts waiting for results of 1st wireless scan to complete in console.
Anyone else having this issue?

  • Safari Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

    According to a report on cnet.com, the iTouch/iPhone Safari browser contains an unpatched buffer overflow vulnerability for which an exploit exists. This vulnerability was patched in the Mac version of OS X earlier in the year, but iTouch/iPhone users will have to wait (and pay for?) the 2.0 software upgrade to get the same security patches as were released for the Mac version of the OS.
    Seems a bit irresponsible to make customers pay for security updates, doesn't it?
    The article is here:

  • Buffer overflow vulnerability in the long username/passwd

    Hi 2 all,
    As per the site below is the link, there is a buffer overflow vulnerability in the long username/passwd, my question is , whether this passwd length check is for the text part or its encrypted part ?? as the passwd sent to the server in encrpted form.

    There was vulnerability which  reported in SAP Crystal Reports version 2011 -SAP Crystal Reports - Two Buffer Overflow Vulnerabilities in BI-RA-CR - 1999142.
    Is it fixed in support Pack 9 (v. 13.0.9.1312) ?

    Hi Don,
    We are currently using SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio: Updates & Runtime Downloads - Support Pack 9 (v. 13.0.9.1312). We are using the WPF control for desktop application , we do not use it in web application.
    http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1999142
    I am attempting to access this URL (SAP) and login dialog box appears which does not accept my credentials. HELP??
    I just wanted to confirm with your team , whether the Two Buffer Overflow Vulnerabilities fixed in Support Pack 9 (v. 13.0.9.1312) or not?
    Please tell me in which version this was fixed?

  • RVS4000 IPS identifies flickr images, etc., as Microsoft Color Management Module Buffer Overflow exploit

    If I enable the IPS function in my RVS4000, some images from various popular websites like Flickr and blogspot will not load.  They are detected by IPS as "EXPLOIT Microsoft Color Management Module Buffer Overflow"
    You can test it yourself with this image hosted at blogspot:
    http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_a7jkcMVp5Vg/TF3gjYJrHBI/AAAAAAAAMqM/ScJAA8y9nZk/s400/sorry.jpg
    With IPS enabled, that image will not load.  With IPS disabled, it will.
    I am using firmware 1.3.2.0 and IPS signature version 1.42.
    I believe IPS is incorrectly identifying these images as containing the color management buffer overflow exploit.
    Any chance this could be corrected in the next IPS signature release?
    As an aside, I would prefer to open a case with support about this, but I really can't figure out how to do so.  I purchased the RVS4000 when it was still made by linksys.  I would assume I should still be able to get support on it now that it's own by Cisco, but trying to open a case on the web for this seems impossible.  Am I missing something?

    i've just removed the proxy in my browser, so that it connects direct.
    et voila: EXPLOIT Microsoft Color Management Module Buffer Overflow
    but this rises the fear that IPS works just as expected when no (external) proxy is used.
    that would be a serious problem, at least because it isn't mentioned in the online help/manual and because i'd leave my real ip at many places, which i wouldn't like.
    i'd be happy to read a response from cisco to the Buffer Overflow (is it a false positive) and if IPS should work when a external proxy is used (via unencrypted connections, so the [w]rvs has a chance to read the communication.

  • Tiger to Snow Leopard upgrade fails  with buffer overflow

    I'm not sure where to proceed with the following situation:
    I have a 17" MB pro with 1GB memory and 22GB free hard drive space. I booted into the installer from the CD and stepped through the prompts without changing any options to the point where the install starts doing it's magic. Shortly after starting, the install will crash complaining about a buffer overflow during/just after the part where it's finding system files.
    I originally tried to do this with only 10GB free, but after the first failure, I did a repair disk using the Disk Utility and removed a bunch of really old files I no longer needed, which brought the available disk space to 22GB, but this did not help anything. At this point, I'm not sure what to do. I use Carbon Copy Cloner as a backup so I can do a full wipe and install, however I would prefer to avoid that as it is a lot of work to get things back.
    Any assistance is greatly appreciated!
    Error log follows. I cut out a lot of stuff so please let me know if that detail is needed.

    Regarding the need to buy the packaged bundle, I keep seeing folks here and elsewhere claiming that is not necessary.
    That's because they have not read, or concern themselves with the license agreement. Section 2. "Permitted License Uses and Restrictions", section C says on http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/macosx106.pdf
    It's been read forwards, backwards, and upside down. Nowhere on the packaging is there any identification of the $29 (or $49 family pack) version as only suitable as a "Leopard upgrade" version. There are vague mentions about it on Apple's online sales page and in press releases. I've read the license terms thoroughly and the only conclusion that could reasonably be conferred is that the $29 version carries a "single user" license simply because it doesn't say "family pack". There are plenty of reports that it installs over Tiger just fine.
    Granted I've read numerous reports and I installed my copy over Leopard. However - imagine someone who vaguely heard about it, walked into a store and bought a copy, thoroughly looked over the box and the license terms (within the disc), and installed it in good faith over Tiger. There is ZERO, ZIP, NADA on the package that would lead anyone to believe it is anything but a copy with a "SINGLE USER" license where the terms don't preclude installing over Tiger.
    C. Leopard Upgrade Licenses. If you have purchased an Upgrade for Mac OS X Leopard license, then subject to the terms and conditions of this License, you are granted a limited non-exclusive license to install, use and run one (1) copy of the Apple Software on a single Apple-branded computer as long as that computer has a properly licensed copy of *Mac OS X Leopard already installed on it.*
    The emphasis above is mine.
    While this may not be enforced by a software key, it is there in the license agreement on the PDF included on the CD, when you purchase the under $100 licenses, which are also called "Upgrade" on the store.
    There's an opinion that "Leopard upgrade" only applies to the "Up To Date" versions that require proof of purchase of a recent Mac computer. The reports on those installer discs are that they do in fact check for a valid Leopard installation.
    The following has the most in-depth discussion on the subject of whether or not the license allows for Snow Leopard over Tiger that I've seen so far:
    http://www.mackb.com/Uwe/Forum.aspx/mac/26361/the-29-purchase-price-of-Snow-Leop ard
    This is the best description I've heard on it, from someone who identifies himself as "David Empson":
    http://www.mackb.com/Uwe/Threads/Single.aspx/mac/26361?ArtId=1j5mofd.1pw6lllbtpj dwN%25dempson%40actrix.gen.nz
    If someone walks in and buys Snow Leopard, without written notice from
    Apple that they are buying an Upgrade version which requires Leopard,
    and without discussing that point with the seller, the buyer is under no
    obligation to have researched their purchase in advance and know all of
    Apple's publicity statements from three months ago.
    They are buying it in good faith, and the contract (licence) is valid.

  • How JPG or GIF Image open in MIDP?

    How my j2me application can support jpg or gif image format. I have tested png file in midp 1.0 and its not support other than png format( im not sure about midp 2.0 does it support or not). I have seen lot of mobiles those support gif and jpg file formats. Does j2me applications on those mobile can support other image formats?
    Plus it is possible that i can develop my own decoder for jpg or gif format. I know it possible, but im talking related to its processing power consumption. Or is there any third party api exist to support jpg or gif file format on midp. Please r

  • ISAKMP spi size buffer overflow for PIX 506e

    Hello,
    We have perform a vulnerability scan for our network and found a high risk vulnerability result as stated below:
    "H IsakmpSpiSizeBo: ISAKMP spi size buffer overflow
    Additional Information More Information
    Internet Security Association and Key Management Protocol (ISAKMP) is a key exchange protocol signature. ISAKMP is vulnerable to a
    buffer overflow. A remote attacker can send a specially-crafted ISAKMP payload to a vulnerable VPN client or server to overflow a buffer
    and execute arbitrary code on the system, possibly with administrative privileges.
    The supported operating systems in the Platforms Affected list are only vulnerable if they use the LibKmp ISAKMP library. Only VPN
    or firewall products which implement the Entrust LibKmp ISAKMP library are vulnerable.
    Remedy:
    Apply the appropriate hotfix for this vulnerability, as listed in the Symantec Security Response SYM04-012 and available from the
    Symantec FTP Update Web site. See References."
    I have search it on cisco but found no clue on resolving the issue. Our firewall is PIX 506E model.
    Your inputs are highly appreciated.
    Thank you
    Neil

    The cause of the issue was the remote peer, the parameters of phase 2 were wrong

    No errors was found in the installation log. I'm looking in the WWDOC_DOCUMENT$ table and found records that make references to my previous tries to upload the logo image. In order to make others tries, how can I delete this information? Are references to this files in any other table?.
    I'm looking over the solution provide by Laurent Baresse, refering to the NLS_LANGUAJE problem ... (Thanks Laurent).
    Best regards

    Fernando,
    Are you able to upload any documents into a content area? Please look at your installation log file (install.log) for any errors that may have occured during the installation of the product. Also make sure that the tablespace containing the WWDOC_DOCUMENT$ table is not full.

  • Unable to create image buffer after RAM preview

    Running into an odd and frustrating error. Built a comp using the new Ray-traced 3D renderer and now I'm regretting being an early adopter big time with all the problems I've been encountering with it. The latest comes whenever I do a longer RAM preview in an attempt to watch the whole duration of my comp. It will get to about 170 frames or so, at which point I've interrupted by pressing spacebar because I don't need to see all the way to the end of my work area (around 220 frames). It'll play the RAM preview back fine, and even loop it, but as soon as I stop playback, I get this error message: "After Effects warning: Unable to create image buffer." There's only one button: "okay" and as soon as I click it the same error pops up again and it will never go away, forcing me to close AE from the task manager. I've taken to saving before every RAM preview like I used to do with Flash before previewing my buggy swfs for fear I'll lose all my work after previewing. Any ideas about what might be causing this?
    Some more details about my comp:
    1920x1080 @ 29.97
    Ray-traced 3D
    About 70 3D layers (I'm guessing this is my downfall - new renderer not designed for this many layers?)

    Yeah, some buffer is very likely not flushing when you interrupt the preview and then there is no more memory on the graphics hardware. Consider setting the work area and your preview options to use only the work area. if it finishes the preview "correctly", it may not suffer the issue. Beyond that - raytracing doesn't/ shouldn't care about the number of items. The math is such, that it makes no difference whether you render a million polygons or just one. Of course there are still limitations due to the GPU dependency, but I doubt you ever truly exhaust the cards' geometry buffers. Compared to pixel data that is a small amount...

  • Animated Gif Image does not render correctly on screen

    I have added animated gif image to the scene it does not render correctely.it shakes on the screen. plz give me any suggestion
    i use following code
    Image logo= new Image(getClass().getResourceAsStream("images/image.gif"));
    logoLabel.setGraphic(new ImageView(logo));

    Hello user,
    I think gif are rendered smoothly.
    Are you sure you are not making many object of same images everytime?
    Thanks.

  • Animated gif image

    Hi
    I like to create an animated gif image from a given set of images with java. I like to do this with the given set of java api as I do not want to use a commercial graphics library. Can anyone provide me with a sample example.
    Thanks

    Hi
    I like to resize a gif image. Currently i am using the following code but the resized image is not smooth.
    public BufferedImage resizeImage(BufferedImage img, int newW, int newH)
              int w = img.getWidth();
              int h = img.getHeight();
              BufferedImage dimg = new BufferedImage(newW, newH, img.getType());
              Graphics2D g = dimg.createGraphics();
              g.setRenderingHint(RenderingHints.KEY_INTERPOLATION, RenderingHints.VALUE_INTERPOLATION_BILINEAR);
              g.drawImage(img, 0, 0, newW, newH, 0, 0, w, h, null);
              g.dispose();
              return dimg;
    Is there a way to resize a gif image in a smooth way as the example given in the gif4j library
    Thanks

  • Animated GIF image gets distorted while playing.

    Hi,
    I have some animated gif images which I need to show in a jLabel and a jTextPane. But some of these images are getting distorted while playing in the two components, though these images are playing properly in Internet Explorer. I am using the methods insertIcon() of jTextPane and setIcon() of jLabel to add or set the gif images in the two components. Can you please suggest any suitable idea of how I can get rid of this distortion? Thanks in advance.

    In the code below is a self contained JComponent that paints a series of BufferedImages as an animation. You can pause the animation, and you specify the delay. It also has two static methods for loading all the frames from a File or a URL.
    Feel free to add functionality to it, like the ability to display text or manipulate the animation. You may wan't the class to extend JLabel instead of JComponent. Just explore around with the painting. If you have any questions, then feel free to post.
    The downside to working with an array of BufferedImages, though, is that they consume more memory then a single Toolkit gif image.
