JRE International Version Kills Windows Remote Scripting?

I've got a web app that uses the Microsoft remote scripting engine to run some ASP script on the server.
This application works fine and has always worked fine without any version of the JRE installed. If I install the JRE version 1.3 (English edition) this application still works fine. If I install the JRE 1.3 (international edition) the remote scripting no longer works.
Does anybody have any idea why installing the international JRE would hose my remote scripting?

I am also having a problem with this. Remote Scripting works fine with 1.3, but when 1.4 was installed I started having problems with it.
Did you ever figure this one out?
Thanks,
Nathan

  • Simplified Chinese in JRE (US-version)

If you are using JRE international version, the Chinese characters will
be displayed correctly in the applet. But if you are using JRE(US-version),
bad, event cannot start the applet ( an unsupportedencodingexception
    throwed out).
I don't want to force the people to reinstall their JRE to support my
applet, so, is there any way easy to make my applet running smoothly
    in all the java environment?
    That really makes me headache.

    None short of the following...
I'd assume that you package up your applet classes in a JAR file (at least that's how I always did it back when I were a humble newbie applet author... ah, those were the days...) ;-)
Find the encoding classes you need within i18n.jar, and add them to your applet JAR file. This way, they should at least be guaranteed of being in the applet's classpath and possibly working.
Other than that, it's likely off to download the international JRE with your users. :-(
    Hope that helps!

  • With Boot Camp, should I install the 64 bit version of Windows 7 (Home Premium edition) OR the 32 bit version when installing onto an early 2008 Mac Pro operating OSX Lion with a 1 TByte internal HDD?

With an early 2008 Mac Pro I'm about to add a second internal drive (1 TByte SATA) and initially install OSX Lion onto the new drive.  Then to partition this new HDD via Boot camp.  But my question is whether I am best advised to purchase the 64 bit version of Windows 7 (Home Premium) or the 32 bit version of Windows 7 (Home Premium) for the Windows sector of the disk  What are the differences, and will I notice a difference in performance?

In chart from wiki, (scroll down to "Comparison chart") check the maximum CPUs supported.
You don't see this on MSoft's 1st searched for chart hit. This is one reason you will regret not paying for Professional+ if you get Home Premium 64 as I did for Mac Pro early 2008.
Home Prem Task Mgr sees 4 processors vs. the 8 that are seen by Pro+.
Costs more than a Mac upgrade to Lion if you make that mistake.

Is there any way of identifying whehther I'm using the standard or International version of JRE?
I know this question has been asked before but no one has answered has far as I can see.

Thanks, I thought about doing something like that to force an exception, I think it might be abit crude.
Nowbody out there that know of any other way to do this?
I'm making an applet that use an encoding that doesn't exits in the standard version, I would like to tell the user that they have to install the java plugin with international support.

  • Can I install WSUS alongside Windows Essentials Experience Role without killing IIS & Remote web access?

Can I install WSUS alongside Windows Essentials Experience Role without killing IIS & Remote web access?
I have recently installed Windows Server 2012 Essentials R2, but I want to use WSUS on the same server.  Is this possible, if so how?  Last time I tried this I lost my Remote Web Access.
I did post this in the Windows server 2012 essentials thread but didn't get any replies so thought I'd try posting it here to see if I got any hits here?
Is there a way to get WSUS to install to different web ports i.e. 880 & 8443?  Or can I get it to install in a new site in IIS?  Its just I know that the Essentials Experience role sets up RWA in IIS and installing the WSUS on top just overwrites
the RWA site & settings?  I assume this is also why Remote Desktop Services does the same?
    Thanks

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2013/06/25/how-to-install-wsus-3-0-sp2-on-windows-server-2012-essentials.aspx
Last time I tried this I lost my Remote Web Access.
Remote Web Access uses the Default Web Site. If you install WSUS to the Default Web Site, it will break things. Install WSUS to the alternate "WSUS Administration" site on port 8530.
Is there a way to get WSUS to install to different web ports i.e. 880 & 8443?
    No.
Or can I get it to install in a new site in IIS?
Just select the option during the installer to do that.

  • Remote way to find what version of windows a device is running

I am looking for a way to find what version of Windows a workstation is running remotely.  These workstations are on the same network, but not a part of the domain.  This means I have no credentials to access them.  Is there a way to to do
    this?

It doesn't matter.  Without credentials you cannot access the OS and the machines will not expose their identity if they are not enabled to do so.  I suspect the manufacturers have done their job abnd have locked down the machines.  This is
probably why they are not listed in DNS.  Any connections are hard wired into the servicing systems.
This is normal for medical machines.  We do not want people who are not qualified to have any access at all.  If someone asked you to do this then they are probably having a little joke on you.  HIPAA and other regulations require that al
devices that might have any patient identifying data be locked down.
The servicing systems will have to information you want although many devices are "upload only" which means they can connect to and upload data and images to another system but they cannot be connected to or remotely managed.
As I posted above.  You will have to contact the owners of the machines to find out if they are managed.
There are RPC probing tools that can read back OS data but it is likely that these machines are firewalled against that.  Try to telnet to port 445 to see if it responds. If it does one of the third party tools can probe it for more information.
This has pretty good discovery software.  If GFI can't do it it can't be done.

  • Execution of remote script in File Adapter OS Command

    Hello.
I'm having issues with a remote script placed on a file adapter which fails to execute in a clustered PI (Version 7.1), running on Windows 2008.
Our current setup is as follows.
    - Machine A and Machine B make up a SAP PI Cluster node.
    - Machine C is our network file share, used as a sandbox for receiving and sending files.
One given scenario would be having the Cluster picking up a file from a FTP folder (Machine D) and copying it over to a given location in Machine C. This is working without problems in the cluster environment.
Now, a very specific scenario requires that after copying the file (to folder INPUT), a given script shall be executed over the received file and decide which folder should that file be archived, TO_PROCESS or NO_PROCESS folders.
So, Outbound Channel is reading from the FTP, Inbound Channel stores in Machine C and has to run a script after message processing.
The problem here is that the script is stored also in Machine C, so placing the OS Command should refer to a shared path:
    Example:
    sap-machine-c.gca.ad.root\InboundFiles\INPUT
    sap-machine-c.gca.ad.root\InboundFiles\TO_PROCESS
    sap-machine-c.gca.ad.root\InboundFiles\NO_PROCESS
    sap-machine-c.gca.ad.root\Scripts\procFile.bat
If I give the command of "
sap-machine-c.gca.ad.root\Scripts\procFile.bat %F" on the receiver channel, checking RWB, Communication channel says the command was executed with success but the file doesn't leave the INPUT folder.
The script is know to execute with success from both instances, I have logged into each one of them and executed with RFCUSER in SE38 w/transaction RSBDCOS0.
I have tried to replicate this issue, reducing even the procFile.bat script to just do an "echo" command but still doesn't work (RWB PI says it does).
It seems to me that executing scripts from remote shares is a no go? Does anyone have a previous experience dealing with these cases?
    Thanks,
    Romeu

    Hi all.
After taking some hints from this thread, we have found out that the problem lied some where in the installation part of PI.
We've set up a basic script, local and not remote, and still the system would not execute that command.
The RWB logs showed successful processing but the Application Server logs were full of errors and stack traces regarding the execution of any command. A support note was raised with SAP support in order to trace these errors.
I'm therefore closing this question as the original question is not related with remote scripting.
    Thanks all for your help.
    Best regards,
    Romeu

  • Java Web Start and Remote Scripting Incompatibility?

I recently installed the Java Web Start plugin to Internet Explorer, in order to run Sun's version of the Java Virtual Machine.
After the install, I am receiving errors when trying to run a web application that uses the Remote Scripting technology for client-server communication.
I think this might be related to the Java 2 security model, which requires all Java applets to be signed. The Remote Scripting client-side component seems to be unsigned, so that may be causing my problem.
Does anyone have a solution for this problem?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    Nicole Roberts

    Hi,
I had the same problem on a unix server!
The new build of IE on Windows 2003 from Microsoft that excludes the JVM (Java Virtual Machine), works fine with the JVM coming from Sun, except for the following.
We are experiencing problems, that if we are not logged in as Domain administrator, we get an Apache security prompt to log on, as soon as the RSProxy class is used. It seems that the Class is not picking up the current session, but tried to create another session, without a userid, and then prompts you for your login details.
We still cannot figure out, why it does not do it with the Domain Administrator account.
Can someone please have a look into this.
I think there is a simple configuration problem somewhere, that will allow seamless integration with Sun's JVM.
I could resolve it so far by loading the Microsoft JVM back into Win2k3 theough the Visual Studion 6 Cd's, but I don't like the idea of that!

  • JRE 1.3 and Windows NT

We are running a java application on a Win NT SP6 machine. This app should create a log file, write one line (indicating the date/time the file was opened) to it and finally bring up the main window. This has always worked on Win 9x and Win NT so far. But in this case, it seems like some error occurs when trying to write to the file, because the file is created but it is empty and the main window never comes up.
Could there be a problem with the version of Microsoft VM installed? The PC is in Mexico and I am not sure if it is an international version of NT. Could that have anything to do with it?
Here is the function that writes to the file:
    public void setLogFile(File f) throws IOException     {
    if (f.exists())
    out = new PrintWriter(new FileOutputStream(f.getAbsolutePath(), true));
    else
    out = new PrintWriter(new FileOutputStream(f));
    out.println("Log opened on " + fdate());
    Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

this is too simple maybe, but just to be sure: a
difference between english and german versions of nt
is that the programs directory is called "c:\program
files" (english) or "c:\programme" (german) - maybe
something similar is happening with spanish and
english in your case ? different spellings of the same
directory ??Thanks for the reply, but JRE is installed in c:\program files\...
folder. So maybe their NT version is the standard US English version.
I am going to try to install the whole JDK (vs. only JRE) hoping that might solve the problem. Don't know what else to do!

  • Using WEBDAV in a Windows PowerShell script

    Hello,
I am trying to write a Windows PowerShell script to copy a file from my SharePoint site to a DB repository folder using a WEBDAV link.  I am not getting it to work.
When I copy from SharePoint to SharePoint it works.  I have used my credentials on the script which has the authorizations but it still isn't working.  The response error is a 500 Internal Server error.
    Any ideas?
    Has anyone done this before?
    Thanks,
    Matt

This is not a solution but more an extra tool to help you find a solution....
You could download and install the Portal Drive to see what actions/commands are used to communicate via webdav to the KM repository.

  • Maintianing multiple line items in main window  in scripts

    Hi folks,
i want to print multiple line items in main window of script for eg 50 line items then my main window should continue in second page also. how to maintain this.
can u provide me sample code for this..
    Thx in advance,
    Neelima.N

You have an internal table with 50 lines, is it correct?
Let's say, there's a MATNR field in your internal table.
First do, what I wrote in my previous comment.
The create an element in yout main window, like this:
    /E LINE_ITEMS
    /  &GS_MAIN-MATNR&
In your printer program you have to code the following:
    LOOP AT gt_main INTO gs_main.
    CALL FUNCTION 'WRITE_FORM'
    EXPORTING
    WINDOW = 'MAIN'
    ELEMENT = 'LINE_ITEMS'.
    ENDLOOP.
This code will loop all 50 of your table entries.
In the MAIN window will fit 30 entries.
When the LOOP is reaching the 30th entry, SAP will automatically create a new page (because of the NEXT PAGE statement you set in the page settings in the SAPScript) and will continue the printing.

  • Java 6 updates 22 thru 24 does not allow ASP Remote Scripting calls

The Java 6 update 22 thru 24 all prevent ASP Remote Scripting from working correctly, causing applications using Remote Scripting via the standardized rs.htm code to fail. This is well documented with examples at the Java Forums page http://www.java-forums.org/new-java/36522-java-jre-6-update-21-22-rs-problem.html
To date I have not been able to find anything that indicates Oracle is aware of this problem and is trying to fix it. If there is a fix, please contact me with it immediately!

Is there any update on this?
is it fixed?Whats stopping you from installing update 26 and trying it out? Or did you think that this is an Oracle technical support forum where actual Oracle employees post?
Note that if nobody bothered to create a bug report for this problem (because I see no evidence of that in either forum) then the answer is likely no.

  • What version of Windows is IE6/7 running on?

    Hello,
I have been testing out some HTML5/CSS3 code, which uses the Modernizr script to render the new HTML5 classes in older browsers. I've had some trouble with layout in IE6 and IE7 on my test site (http://www.bluedutch.com/cafe/index.html), so I prompted the user to install the Chrome Frame plug-in (http://code.google.com/chrome/chromeframe/) for IE <=7.
When viewing the site in these browsers, the user should be prompted to install the plugin. When I preview the site in BL in IE6/7, I get the window prompting to install the plugin, but the plugin window displays a message "We are sorry. Google Chrome Frame is only available for IE 6,7,8, and 9 on Windows 7, Vista, XP SP2 or greater."
I've uploaded a screenshot of the issue here: http://www.bluedutch.com/cafe/screenshot.jpg
I'm just curious what version of Windows IE is rendering the screenshots from, since the plugin doesn't seem to detect it in one of the aforementioned. Are IE 8 and 9, as well as the other Windows browsers running on the same Windows platform? Since rendering seems to be very platform dependent in Windows, I was curious about how this issue might be affecting website display.
    Thanks,
    Marie

    Thanks Mark!
That explains the Chrome plugin issue I am seeing.
I've commented out the get Chrome plugin for IE7 on the site, just so you can see the behavior in IE7.
If I understand Modernizr, the layout should look similar to IE8, but some of the new HTML5 tags, like <menu> aren't aligning properly, and some of the other divs are messed up. This could be due to font sizing in my CSS, and maybe some other unrecognized classes that IE7 just doesn't get, which I will also investigate further.
But if you do find out any info on your side that would be helpful, I'd really appreciate any thoughts.
The BrowserLab is very useful, by the way! I just discovered it yesterday after searching in vain for ways to render pages from my Mac on Windows browsers. Thanks for its implementation and support!

  • What is the use of MAIN WINDOW in SCRIPTS

what is the use of MAIN WINDOW in SCRIPTS, y we con't create a script w/o main window.
    Title was edited by:
            Alvaro Tejada Galindo

    Hi
    See this
What are the different types of windows in SAP Scripts?
Windows are defined in the Layout sets which define the position and the text to displayed.
The different types of windows are:
    MAIN - Main Window
The main window is a continous window which can extend over several pages. If the text in the main window fills up a page, a new page is created.
Only one main window can be defined in the SAP Script whereas upto 100 instances of main window can be created in a page.
    VAR - Variable Window
This window can have the variable contents displayed on them. The contents of the window cannot exceed the window size. The content can be formatted for each page.
    CONST - Constant Window
The constant window can have a fixed content and is formatted only once.
    Main Windows (MAIN)
Each form must have one window of type MAIN. Such a window is called the main window of the form. For SAPscript forms, the main window has a central meaning:
    • It controls the page break.
    • It contains the text body that may cover several pages.
    • It allows to fix text elements at the upper and lower margins of the allocated page window (for example, for column headings).
As soon as a window of type MAIN is full, SAPscript automatically triggers a page break and continues to output the remaining text in the main window of the subsequent page. Page windows of type MAIN have the same width throughout the form. The SAPscript composer thus avoids reformatting of the text after each page break.
    Variable Windows (VAR)
The contents of variable windows is processed again for each page, on which the window appears. The system outputs only as much text as fits into the window. Text exceeding the window size is truncated; the system does not trigger a page break. Unlike constant windows, the page windows declared as variable windows may have different sizes on different form pages.
    Constant Windows (CONST)
Starting with Release 4.0, the system internally processes windows of type CONST similar to windows of type VAR. Therefore, if you create a new window, always use type VAR.

  • Installing International Version of JDK

    Hello-
I am running software which requires that the International version of JDK be installed. I can't find any documentation on how to enable this apart from needing i18n.jar in /jre/lib.
How can I obtain and install the International version of JDK?
I am installing this on Solari 5.9.
    Thanks very much.
    Sincerely,
    Ed S.

When you install the current JDK, during the install you're give an opportunity to select internationa or English - the default is international.
There's now only this one d/l.
