JRegistryKey.dll on windows 7 throwing exception

Hi all,
I am using JRegistryKey.dll with one application. This application is 32 bit application and it runs perfectly fine in Windows XP. But when i tried to run this on 64-bit environment of Windows 7 It failed to get started. Please find below log snippet. Please provide your valuable inputs for the same. I would appreciate if you can help in this problem.

What do you have /32BIT flag set to in the assembly? Ie, was it compiled with AnyCPU, x86, etc? You can use corflags.exe with the .net sdk to find out.
Prior to VS2010, the default was AnyCPU which meant it ran as 64 bit on 64 bit OS, and 32 bit on 32 bit OS.
As of VS2010, the IDE defaults to x86, which means it runs as 32 bit no matter what.
32 bit apps need 32 bit odp/client. 64 bit apps need 64 bit odp/client.
The error you're getting usually means you have the wrong bits (32/64) of the Oracle client installed.
Assuming you have the wrong client bits installed, you could either
a) make the app run as the other bits by setting/clearing the 32BIT flag (also by using corflags.exe)
b) install the other bits of Oracle client software. a 32 bit home and a 64 bit home play rather nicely together for the most part, but you need to install them into separate homes.

Core dump on throwing exception

Hi,
I am using an exception class derived from C++ standard exception class (MyException). In this, I am having a member variable of type std::string. I am using this in a DLL that is being used by Java application using JNI.
In my C++ code, I am catching exception following way:
catch(XException& exp)

catch(exception& exp)
If I am using std::string as member in MyException class, it results in a coredump whatever exception is thrown (MyException or any other unknown exception supposed to be caught in the standard exception class.). Note that this happens in release build of my dll and never repeatable in debug build.
This problem occurs only in Solaris (tested both in Solaris 7 and Solaris 8). It does not occur in Windows.
Now, if I use char array instead of std::string the problem does not occur!!!! Exceptions are caught properly.
If anyone can throw more light on why usage of std::string causes issues in exception handling in Solaris using CC 5.0 compiler, it shall be of help. I feel problem might be due to not updating the patches related to CC 5.0 exception handling. Also, is it a good practise to use std::string in exception handling classes?

C++ 5.0 is very old and is no longer supported. Patches are still available for it, however. You should get the latest patches from
http://access1.sun.com/sundev
and see if that solves your problem. If not, you should upgrade to a supported compiler release.
The standard string class can perfrom dynamic memory allocation and can throw exceptions. It's not ideal for use in exception handling for those reasons. But for ordinary situations when you are not out of memory it' s probably OK.

MAX error, niGPIBsys.dll plug-in caused an exception

Trying to connect to hardware via the local network to send ASCII strings. I can ping the static IP address successfully, but can't get anything from it in LabVIEW.
VISA resource at the moment is TCPIP0::xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx::INSTR, which I think is right.
MAX returns this error on startup:

Sorry, I'm confused myself.
LabVIEW communication with one instrument works when I manually entered TCPIP0::xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx::INSTR, so over the local network. It also worked when I connected it to my computer with a USB cable because the USB::<something> option came up in the drop down list of the VISA resource name panel straight away.
With the other instrument, it has both USB and ethernet sockets, I couldn't get a response using the same TCPIP format as above, even though I know the IP address (and I tried all combinations of w/ wout/ INSTR) and I could ping it. Haven't been able to plug it into anything with USB directly as I can't get a computer near it at the moment. Tried LabVIEW's VISA serial read write example programme... does that not make sense then? I got error -1073807343.
So I tried to use MAX according to tutorials and encountered the above problems. I suspect the MAX problem is seperate to my VISA connection problems. Can MAX not be used to find and configure connections both USB (is this the same as GPIB?) and TCPIP?

EJB is not throwing exception to calling Action class in Unix environment

One of our EJB is not throwing exception to calling Action class in Unix environment. Its working fine in Windows.
Somehow the EJB is swallowing the exception.

SQL query throwing Exception.

i am facing a problem while using the date as search criteria. In the JDO class the field type is of java.util.Date. The search is working in the local environment whose local date settings as M/d/YYYY(windows 2003 , english version).The search is not working in the chines OS environment , where the local date setting is YYYY-M-d. In the chinese enviroment , if we alter the session NLS settings in toad, we could able to execute the query.

Indrasish.No there is not. You should do some debugging, such as logging something like: "Executing query: SELECT blahblahblah" - then execute the query, then log something like: "Query completed". Then find in your log which one didn't complete.

Java Does Not Throw Exception When Writing To Read-Only Files

I have noticed that when I try to write to a read-only file in a window environment, Java does not throw an IOExcpetion, it just dosn't write to the file.

WebAuthenticationBroker.AuthenticateAsync throws exception on the desktop

My code (C# - windows store) uses WebAuthenticationBroker.AuthenticateAsync().
This method used to work on the desktop until last week, but now it throws exception
"The process terminated unexpectedly. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007042B)"
The code was not changed and the same code that does not work on the PC, does work on the tablet (Surface).

and also at this sample it throws the same exception.
How can I solve this issue?

recently faced the same issue. It turned out to be misconfigured permissions on the Internet Explorer's Temporary Internet Files folder. If you have changed that location from default to some custom, please make sure that your account has Full Access permission
to this folder. I had Administrators group having full access, and my account was a part of administrators group. It worked in normal browsing scenarios, but Windows apps run in a sandbox with stripped permissions, i.e. they don't get permissions granted to
Admins. Wininet running in the app process was not able to clean up state before starting authentication.

Hi, I have Queue class and a Test drive for the Queue class called QueueDriver. After I run the program I see a number which I have set in the QueueDrive shown up in the terminal window. How can I throw an exception here along with a message? what kind of exception would it be? IOException......OR FileNotFound exception.....OR is there a generic type of exception?

Certificates expired, new deploy throws exception, then launch again =works

Our certificate to sign our JWS deployed jars is about to expire so we signed them with a new cert and in development when we re-deploy with the new jars the JWS client throws exceptions. But if you launch it again it will work, but ONLY from the web browser the desktop shortcut link will stay broken forever. Now upon being fixed by a 'launch from webpage twice' the desktop shortcut becomes fixed.

you would need to bump the version on all the
resigned jars.)=Yes and I DID NOT bump the version. TODO
2.) do you specify <offline-allowed> ? If it is
specified, new jars will only be downloaded the first
time if the server responds within 1.5 seconds that
an update is available.=No.
3.) What version of Java Web Start are you using ?
If you are specifying some jars as "lazy", they might
not be updated immeadiately for some older versions.
Also if you are using JDK 6, you can specify <update
check="always"/> to insure update is always checked
for w/o timeing out in 1.5 seconds as may be the
case if the default <update check="timeout"/> is
used.=6.0; <update check="always" policy="always"></update>; we do have some lazy jars TODO I'll try that next.

Function module JOB_CLOSE throwing exception

Hello,
We have a batch job which has 2 steps:
1) Step 1 uses job_open, job_submit and job_close and immediately schedules batch job A/P_ACCOUNTS which in turn creates batch input sessions A/P_ACCOUNTS.
2) Step 2 Processes A/P_ACCOUNTS sessions created yesterday or today.
In few cases, job_close is throwing exception job_close_failed. I believe that error is coming due to non availability of work processes. Job A/P_Accounts is defined as a class C batch job. There is a check in the FM job_close which does the following check:
- if the class of a batch job is B or C, it calculates the number of free work processes. If there are no work processes available then JOB_CLOSE throws JOB_CLOSE_FAILED exception.
- If the class is u2018Au2019, it skips this check.
We have an option of changing the class of batch job to A but there are some system critical jobs that are running as class A.
My question is:
In the code, JOB_CLOSE has been called for scheduling the job A/P_ACCOUNTS with parameter start immediately. Can anyone please let me know what will happen if function JOB_CLOSE is not called with start immediately option? Will the batch job A/P_ACCOUNTS wait till the time work processes are available?
Or, can anything else be done to solve the issue?

This is my experience with job_close..
when i was working in zprograms then i was able to scedule it any time i wanted..
but in my standard program when i tried it didn't worked....
so i have to use that option of starting it immediately..
and then it is working fine..
now if i schedule 5 jobs... one after another..
its get queued up...and once the processor is free...its working..

Error message with Vista and 7.2: Windows-No Disk Exception Processing Mess

I just got a new Dell computer with Windows Vista and I am trying to put iTunes on it. I can install it fine from the original CD, and then I am prompted to update it to 7.2. After updating, this is the message that I get: Windows-No Disk, Exception Processing Message 0xc0000013 Parameters 0x7620023C 0c847CDB4C 0x7620023C (Cancel Try Again Continue). If I click on any button countless times, iTunes does open up but then I get the blue screen dump message. I have installed and uninstalled it many different times and have tried any of the additional updates/patches with no effect. I did not see this message anywhere else in the forum, anyone able to help?

A couple of multifunction printers have also been the cause of similar problems but most of these have higher visibility on internet search engines than the external hard drives.

Faxing of SAPScript throwing exception

Dear All,
I am facing problem while sending Sales Order output through FAX. It is throwing exception in OPEN_FORM function module as FAX_NOT_VALID. I debugged and found that actually system is failing FM SX_NUMBER_TO_DEVTYPE which in turn showing that the exception has occured due to Node not found. Is it a configuaration issue? I tried to configure through SPRO but could not find any relevent place. Looking for your valuable suggestion.

Make sure are you entering the correct fax number in the recepient.
Go to transaction SBWP - > create new message and try to send it as FAX. It you are not able to send fax via Business workplace then it implies that some setting is required form the BASIS.
Otherwise the parameters passed to the OPEN_FORM needs to be investigated.

Issue 2:- Notepad does not contains all columns nor in specific sequence in that case i can add few column ehich i am doing now but the issue is now data table will add my columns + notepad columns and while inserting how to assign in perticular colums?

I think you'll have to do an explicit column mapping if they are not in exact sequence in both source and destination.

Windows - No Disk Exception Processing Message on iTunes start-up

Every time I start up iTunes I get this annoying Windows Error Message.

If I click any combination of the three buttons many times it eventually goes away.
Then, it also happens when doing any operation with a song file such as conveting format or it rate. In this case it may lock up iTunes and require a C-A-D to get out of the application.
