JRun 3 on Vista IIS7
Having some problems configuring IIS7 (Vista) to run JRun 3
applications. Using a basic JSP page as an example, here is there
error I get:
HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found
Description: The resource you are looking for has been
removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
Error Code: 0x80070002
Notification: MapRequestHandler

Physical Path: C:\Program
Files\Allaire\JRun\servers\MMV4\scripts\jrun.dll\BrowserTest.jsp

That seems to me as if it is looking for the actual file
noted in the Physical Path above.
Any ideas or help?
Steve's research shows your OS is not supported.
So if this leaves you kind of stuck, a workaround may be load
Captivate
on a non-64 OS computer and remote into your primary machine
to record
whatever process during that remote session. I don't have
Vista here so
not sure it, or at least what version, supports Remote
Desktop.
I've done a quick test of this process to a Windows Server OS
and it
worked and looked fine, though I don't think auto-captions
worked...
Another option is to grab manual screenshots of the Vista
process then
bring those into CP on a workable machine and build the
demo...manually.
If none of those work, there are other applications similar
to
Captivate. Camtasia is one and a websearch would reveal
others.

Hello,

Thanks.Well I was having exactly the same trouble and pulling my

Here is what I found that worked.

Same rules apply for MX8 and Server 2008 (with one exception)

Pages 6 to 9 of this site this tells you how to get the

We are trying to install webtools on a demo laptop that is running Windows Vista and IIS7 - is that a supported platform? We are having problems with IIS.
Hi John,
Unfortunately, Webtools does not run on Vista or IIS7. -
Hi,
I´m developing an application with Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and Crystal Reports 2008 Professional
(i´m not using the Crystal Reports 2008 for .Net basic)
As I have Windows Vista x64, my ASP.NET applications run under IIS7, but for my surprise, Crystal doesn´t work under Vista x64 + IIS7. I got the following error:
An error has occurred while attempting to load the Crystal Reports runtime. Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient, or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly. Please install the appropriate Crystal Reports redistributable (CRRedist*.msi) containing the correct version of the Crystal Reports runtime (x86, x64, or Itanium) required. Please go to http://www.businessobjects.com/support for more information.
When I run the same routine in an Windows Application the error doesnt occur. It only happens under Web Applications.
I tested in a Windows Vista 32 bit and there´s no error....
Crystal Reports 2008 does not work in II7 x64 ?
Is there any solution?
Please.... help me!!!!!Hi Fernando,
Please read and follow the [Rules of Engagement|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/home/rulesofEngagement] for future topic posts as yours violates the current policy.
You will need to build your application to run in 32 bit only mode. This note explains how to do it:

Unable to make a local CFHTTP request using CF9 + IIS7 + Vista
Hi CFers
Screenshot attached.
Just wondering if anyone else has had issues with CF not dealing with local CFHTTP requests to IIS on Vista.
So far it seems that CFHTTP makes a call to IIS, it shows up in the IIS logs as a 200, but CF returns a Connection Timeout (note it doesn't matter if you make it a ridiculous timeout, its a real simple page). Also if you make the request in the URL it in browser it's fine.
CFHTTP works fine for anything not local. It's not HTTPS and not using compression. Both CF and IIS are using the same user account. Running CF9 Dev Edition, IIS7 and Vista Business.
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2218615/cfhttp-and-iis-7-connection-failture-not-ssl
I'm stumped, any help would be greatly appreciated!
DaveG'day Dave
Hey, what happens if you give it a different useragent value? It's a long shot, but something easy to try.
When you're browsing to the URL and it works, you're browsing from the desktop of the server itself, yes?
And if you use the inbuilt JWS web server instead of IIS, it works fine?

CF 7.02 on vista and iis7 doesn't work ...
After installing IIS 7 in my new WIN Vista laptop. I have
been trying to migrate ColdfFusion to the new machine.
I can't get the local server to work with CF, however. The
latest error is a http 500.0 - internal server error.
I have tried the following:
http://www.communitymx.com/content/article.cfm?page=1&cid=224AA
but on page six I get an error message that the isapi module
doesn't exist
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=1&catid=3&threadid=12 57380
but I still get the http 500.0 error
- the adobe web server confoguration tool - wsconfig
After the above two solutions the tool recognizes the iis
server (it didn't before!) . But when I click OK to configure I get
the message that 7.x is not supported...
Is there any other way to get CF working on my local
webserver? Maybe another webserver platform? (Which one and how?)Google ColdFusion and Vista.
There are a number of resources available out there now which
explain how to get CF7 working with Vista. I managed to get CF 7.02
running on Vista business last weekend.
You have to do a little bit of sqeaking but CF 7 will run
under Vista.
Sorry I dont have the links with me, thats why I say google
it. -
Issue with JRun 4 Web Connector to IIS 7 on MS Vista

through the web connector(Web Server Configuration Tool). I have
installed JRun Updater 7. When I get into the connector and click
Add, the detailed form appears and in that, when I select the

an exception related to jrun_iis6_wildcard.dll. Sometimes this
combo is disabled showing the option None. So I cannot move further
with my connection.

Cold Fusion Standart Edition Configuring iis7 Help!
Hi,
Well i just got this great task to install and configure a
server for the first time. I am a coder, not a network specialist,
and IIS7 differs from previous versions and i am still getting used
to the interface. Anyways, so i have ColdFusion standard, installed
on a system running Windows server 2008 beta. Similar to vista but
without the crap intended for the end user. I have at this point
create a test site. After my first test i got a error 500 saying
that the MIME was disallowed. So i enabled the mime but now it
simply send the file trough ftp. I have enabled FTP on the server.
But i think my problem is in the application pool. I am unsure what
to enter there. Or so it seems. Please tell me if you have any
instructions that you can give me to complete this task.
Your help is appreciated.
Thank you.Hi Oanh,
Just try this and I got this from a different blog
To fix this issue, grant the Network Service user in the IIS Worker Process
Group (IIS_WPG) read and write access to the jrun_root\lib\wsconfig directory,
including the sub-folders and files. Restart the IIS Admin Service and the JRun
services after making the permissions change. -
Installation problem: IIS 7, Vista 64 Bit
Hi all!
I tried to install EPM 11.1.1.1 on my laptop (Vista Business, 64 Bit) and have a problem with the installation of HFM Web Application and other components of EPM 11.1.1.1, witch needs IIS.
After I've got the error "Products needs IIS to be installed" for the first time, I installed IIS 7.
Now the IIS is running - I hope (However I'm able to open the standard web site http://localhost/), but I'm still getting the same error.
How can I check, if IIS is running?
Could someone tell me, what I maybe forgot or what I have to consider? Do I have to make some IIS settings? I already allowed all isapi and cgi extensions.
Could Vista or the 64-Bit system version be the source of my problem? Why HFM does not recognize the installed IIS7?
Do someone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Alex
Edited by: alta on 02.12.2008 10:51Most people are going to tell you to use a supported Operating System. If this is a production installation then install a supported OS -- I'm presuming this is not a production or multi-user system and iis a personal development system.
This post seems to have an answer to one of the main problems with a Vista install - Re: EPM System 11.1.1: OpenLDAP & WIndows Vista Issue
You may encounter issues with Performance Management Architect and IIS7 and those are likely much more difficult if not impossible to resolve -- if you want to use classic applications then just select apache when you deploy Workspace and do not install Performance Management Architect.
Let us know how it goes.

OT: Windows Vista Beta 2
Has anyone installed Windows Vista Beta 2, yet? I'm currently
downloading it
now (FYI, it's around 3200mb or so) - and will probably put
it on another PC
for testing.
If you haven't heard about its public release, you can read
and obtain a
copy by mail or download, here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/preview.mspx
Just curious what you've thought for those who have installed
it and used it
already.
Take care, everyone.

Vista SP1 - CF Service will not start
Running Vista Business. Life was good, I was productive! (CF 8 btw).
After installing Vista SP1, CF service will not start. Digging a little deeper, turns out JRUN can't fire off "coldfusion", one of the servers listed. Here is the error:
04/06 11:49:20 error Failed to create new connection
java.net.SocketException: select failed
at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketAccept(Native Method)
at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.accept(PlainSocketImpl.java:384)
at java.net.ServerSocket.implAccept(ServerSocket.java:453)
at java.net.ServerSocket.accept(ServerSocket.java:421)
at jrun.jms.core.kernel.mipc.MultiplexConnectionServer.run(MultiplexConnectionServer.java:15 4)
Some digging turned up the possiblity that the jndi.properties file isn't being read. Changed permissions on it to let everyone in. Heck, you guys can probably get at it right now form where you are its so open!
More digging, turns out Windows Firewall like to block port 2930, which is apparently used for internal communication with jndi settings or some such. Opened that up. Found evidence of further internal communication on port 900, opened that up to.
Found this very useful and a bit scary info about missing DLLs and so forth:
http://www.communitymx.com/content/article.cfm?page=6&cid=224AA
Found reference to the updated Vista TCP/IP stack being a culprit in some cases, which often seemed to come down to, get this, a new host file entry for localhost: ::1 localhost. Commented that out, still no joy.
Tried reinstalling. Still no go.
Pretty much exhausted all possibilities I was able to think of or find info about.
Any ideas or similar experiences? Or, failing that, the address of a tall building to jump off? Thanks!Read the manual?!?! No way, never! That would be like... stopping at a gas station to ask for directions!
But seriously, I did poke around there a bit. I do tend to forget that there is more to there is more there than the language reference.
Never been stuck like this though. Probably done over 100 installs dating back to CF4 on just about all windows flavors but have never had to dig in to the guts of the underlying Java like this.
Thinking it has to be something unique to this machine; I have done other Vista installs of CF8 with only minimal issues (typically having to set the service to run under an account that has permissions, maybe even set jrun.exe and jrunsvc.exe to execute under an admin account, but thats about it). Unfortunately, partially because of the environment we operate in, a fresh workstation install is a good day and half to two day ordeal.
Help me Obi Wan, you're my only hope! -
Problems with Access, Vista, ASP
Hello, I'm using DW CS3 and ASP classic on a machine with
Vista Ultimate and having problems connecting to the MS Access
Database via the testing server. When I try to add the database
connection and create a DSN through the dialog box, I hit "Test"
and get the following message:
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Disk or network
error.
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr
failed
I suspect it is a permissions-based problem but have been
unable to isolate it. The database is in the directory,
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Database. So far at the folder level I
have tried:
- verifying full control permission for the Administrators
group
- giving full control permission to the IUSR_ComputerName
account
I also verified the access database itself has no permission
restrictions.
Incidentally I am new to CS3 and working through the book,
"Adobe DW CS3 with ASP, ColdFusion and PHP Training from the
Source", specifically the example in Chapter 7 using the newland
database. I am somewhat familiar with dynamic web development
(veteran of GoLive 6) but am not up to speed on developing under
Windows Vista. BTW I have turned User Account Control off in

IIS7 on Vista uses a different temp directory. Give 'modify'
permission to
IUSR for this folder:
C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Local -
I am using Coldfusion 8 Developer Edition as a testing server
for Dreamweaver website development. I am running Windows Vista
Home Premium and 2 Gig of memory. When I start my computer I run
into memory issues which I have traced to jrun.exe which is a part
of Coldfusion. For maybe the first hour jrun is using well over a
half a gig of member. After that it drops to about 60,000k. Does
anyone know of a way to reduce that?
I am a mid level user with no server admin experience beyond
setting up CF developer edition using mostly default settings. I
have found support articles about this problem, but all of them
were way over my head. Any suggestions need to be very specific and
not in server admin jargon. You can try reducing the max heap for the java in the
coldfusion administrator to little bit lower value so the garbage
collection might happen sooner. Its not easy to say how much max
heap you should set as it totally depends on your application
usage. Also, you can try to upgrade your java version to see if
that improves garbage collection.
