[JS] Character properties vs. character style properties.

I am trying to define differences between a characters properties and the paragraph it is inside.
I am doing this if(the_character.appliedFont != the_paragraph.appliedFont) but it doesn't work - it seems they return the values differently. As if the character returns the appliedFont as an object, and the paragraph returns it as a string. Any ideas?

This topic has come up a number of times in the past. I have a function which I use for this purpose. It represents not a small amount of work...
GetCharOverrides = function (text,doc,charStyle){
  var x,e;
  text = text.properties;
  var paraStyle = text.appliedParagraphStyle.properties;
  var inProps = {};var outProps = {};
  if(doc.characterStyles.length<2){var tempStyle = doc.characterStyles.add();}
  else{var tempStyle = false;}
  var a = doc.characterStyles[1].properties;
  for(x in a){inProps[x] = paraStyle[x];}
  if(charStyle&&charStyle!=doc.characterStyles[0]){
    charStyle = charStyle.properties;
    for(x in charStyle){
      if(charStyle[x]&&charStyle[x]!=NothingEnum.NOTHING){
        inProps[x] = charStyle[x];
  delete inProps.basedOn;
  delete inProps.name;
  delete inProps.id;
  delete inProps.parent;
  delete inProps.index;
  delete inProps.imported;
  delete inProps.label;
  delete inProps.properties;
  delete inProps.gradientStrokeStart;
  delete inProps.gradientFillStart;
  for(x in inProps){
    if(text[x]!=inProps[x]){
      if(x=='appliedFont'){
        try{
          var textFont = text.appliedFont;
          var inFont = inProps.appliedFont;
          var textFontStyle = textFont instanceof Font ? textFont.fontStyleName : text.fontStyle;
          var inFontStyle = inFont instanceof Font ? inFont.fontStyleName : inProps.fontStyle;
          if(textFontStyle != inFontStyle){outProps.fontStyle = textFontStyle}
          var textFontFamily = textFont instanceof Font ? textFont.fontFamily : textFont;
          var inFontFamily = inFont instanceof Font ? inFont.fontFamily : inFont;
          if(textFontFamily != inFontFamily){outProps.appliedFont = textFontFamily}
        }catch(e){}
      else{outProps[x] = text[x];}
  if(tempStyle){tempStyle.remove();}
  return outProps;

  • Mapping style templates and properties to Actual Style Sheet Classes

    I got this response to an email regarding creating a customized style sheet and thought others might find it useful following is my initial question and the response from David Phipps. If anyone else has input to this conversation please join in.
    Initial question: I'm trying to create a highly customized style sheet and could use a matrix that maps the various properties to the styles that each property affects. I have had some success determining the specific styles that I would like to change but am unable to use the style mill with any efficacy to make those changes. We are attempting to create a single language style sheet with a unique color scheme that matches our branding. One big problem we have run into is that certain styles are called in multiple places with different backgrounds (i.e. breadcrumbText). Any help along these lines that you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
    Response:The CSS style mapping is not terribly satisfying right now; many objects share common CSS styles, which means if you change one tiny thing the whole page changes. We don't have a matrix or spreadsheet or styleguide that lays out the page itself and defines the styles used in each point. However, the stylesheet mill should work for you, and it's possible that what you have going on is a problem with your mill or an incomplete copy of what it generates.
    There are 18 styles in the portal currently; you can actually create new styles and populate them, which sounds like the option you are interested in. The mill is just an ANT script that uses the template files in the templates directory and combines them with the property files in the prop-color and prop-text directories.
    The prop-text files are per language (10 languages); if you check you'll see the values are all the same right now; the idea is you could change the font names or sizes per-language if you wanted to.
    The prop-color files are per style (18 styles). If you want a new set of property values for, say, style 19, you'd add a file called color.19.properties, and the mill would pick that up and generate 190 files (19 styles x 10 languages). It would then add a new line to community-themes.txt, which has a name of each style for each language, based on data it picked up from your new color.19.properties file.
    The real secret is that you only add color style elements you want to override. If you want a specific set of styles to always be available, just add them directly to the appropriate template file (in your case, the portal50.template file) without using the @variable@ in place of actual values. Then you're just adding new style overrides that apply everywhere.
    Finally, you can add arbitrary new properties to your new prtoperties file and use those in the template:
    in portal50.template:
    ..actionbarPortletBg {background-color: @personal.and.interesting.setting@;}
    in color.19.properties:
    personal.and.interesting.setting=#ff9900
    So the CSS mill is just a glorified text replacement tool.
    Remember that the CSS mill works this way:
    - Run make_all.bat if you're not sure and want to insure you've remilled everything, otherwise use make_community_css.bat or make_menu.bat to remill only community styles or those for the jsportalmenus dropdown, respectively.
    - The resulting files are created in ptimages/tools/cssmill/css
    - You have to copy the resulting files by hand to the imageserver CSS location, which is
    ptimages/imageserver/plumtree/common/public/css
    - You have to forcibly stop and restart your imageserver, be it Apache, Tomcat, IIS, Websphere or whatever; no matter what anyone says the new content won't show up reliably until you restart your imageserver.
    You probably know all this and your real problem is the CSS is not specific enough, that is, you can't get individual items to change like you want. We have been working on this, and the new version of the portal will have much more addressable CSS styles, including the ability to specify styles for individual navigation elements, individual pages, and individual portlets. This basically meant rewriting the HTML we generate, of course.
    Since you can override and rewrite chunks of our HTML as well using View Overrides, if you're in a jam we can walk you through how to rewrite specific bits of the UI that are causing you trouble - for instance, the code that generates the breadcrumbs itself.

    One way to do this is to give the <body> tag an ID. In a template, you need to make the ID attribute of the <body> tag editable.
    You would then have something like this in your style sheet:
    #home.oneColFixCtrHdr #container #navigation li,
    #services.oneColFixCtrHdr #container #navigation li,
    #about.oneColFixCtrHdr #container #navigation li,
    #contact.oneColFixCtrHdr #container #navigation li,
    #testimonials.oneColFixCtrHdr #container #navigation li,
    #links.oneColFixCtrHdr #container #navigation li
    background-color:
    #66ccFF;
    border-bottom-width: 1px;
    border-bottom-style:
    solid;
    border-bottom-color: #FFFFFF;

  • How to change style properties of text links

    Hello to everyone.
    There is a very irritating thing going on with the style properties of a text link.
    I want my text that acts as a link to other pages, to retain the properties of a normal text. iWeb keeps underlining the text and changing the colour of it.
    Is it possible to alter that without fiddling with the css file? I can change that if have to but that means that I'll have to manually edit the file in more than 50 pages...
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Dimitris

    Dmitris,
    There is no way to do this in iWeb directly. As you have already alluded to, the only way to do this would be to edit the CSS files for your pages. You could do this by hand, but judging by your message it doesn't sound like you would have too much fun doing this.
    I would suggest that you look into a program like MassReplaceIt...
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/productivity_tools/massreplaceit.html
    This is basically a glorified find and replace type of tool. You can tell it to find a whole block of parameters in the CSS file and change it to whatever you like. And the benefit for you is that you can save these actions so that you can redo them whenever you publish the pages. MRI is smart enough to change only what needs changing. And searching out all the CSS files in all subdirectories is a bonus for you, Dmitris. Just point it at your site folder and let the program change all 50 CSS files in one click!
    Good luck!

  • Chart Axis Labels Not Always Accepting Style Properties

    I have two charts as seen in the following screenshot and in one my style properties are taking effect, in the other the style font size is not taking effect for one of the axis.
    I have this CSS which I know does affect some areas of both charts:
    BarChart, ColumnChart, PieChart, LineChart, Series, ChartItem, PieSeriesItem, AxisRenderer, ChartLabel
        font-size: 16;
    I also have axis renderers defined:
    <mx:horizontalAxisRenderers>
        <mx:AxisRenderer axis="{lineHorizAxis}" fontSize="16"/>
    </mx:horizontalAxisRenderers>
    <mx:verticalAxisRenderers>
        <mx:AxisRenderer axis="{lineVertAxis}" fontSize="16"/>
    </mx:verticalAxisRenderers>
    The left chart where axis labels are styled properly has 10 data items coming in, and the right chart has 6 items coming in.
    I don't know why the axis font size is being ignored in one case, but more importantly, how can I prevent it from being ignored (even if it is due to longer strings, in case that may be related).

    Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how I can get around this.
    I'm guessing I need to override AxisRenderer, but all its relevant methods are private.
    Should I create a label factory instead?

    I am not an expert here,
    but it seems that since you are using ojdbc14.jar you may actually need the
    nls_charset12.jar
    instead of the one I suggested previously.

  • It's possible to convert 'WE8MSWIN1252' character to chinese character set?

    Hi All,
    Is anyone know how to convert "WE8MSWIN1252" character to chinese character set in order to display chinese word in oracle apex?
    My problem is i can't display chinese character set in oracle apex. The chinese field is showed like °×ѪÇò¼ÆÊý. I'm using WE8MSWIN1252 database character set.
    I'm wondering it's possible to show character word?
    I'm appreciating if anyone have a good solution to share with me.
    Thanks a lot in advance!
    Edited by: Apex Junior on Jul 16, 2010 2:18 PM

    WE8 is a Western European character set. If you wish to store and access a globalized multibyte character set you must have a database that supports it: You don't have one at the moment.
    Given this is Apex I'd suggest you read the docs and reinstall.
    Alternatively you could try CSSCAN and CSALTER and perhaps you can make the change but be very careful and have a good backup before you try.

    inspector" (note the
    singular "Property," even though the panel's tab reads
    "Properties"). In
    day-to-day use, people call this entity everything from the
    official name to
    "Properties inspector" to "Properties panel" to probably
    more. Speaking
    pragmatically, they're all the same thing.

  • Change character set settings & character set.in infopackages

    hello Experts
    Because of Unicode, I need to change in all of the BW infopackages : character set settings & character set.
    Do you know a way to customize globally all the infopackages... or i have to do it manually on all of them.
    thanks for help!
    Dev

    Hi,
    Following links may help in UNICODE conversion of SAP BW :-
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/fdbedb90-0201-0010-4483-b64ac397986a?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/unicode/ChallengesinBIUnicodeconversion
    Also go through  SAP Note 888210.
    In short you can change the UNICODE settings globally for all the source systems through SM59.
    Double click on the source system name.Goto MDMP & UNICODE tab and selct radio button UNICODE from there and save it. Do it for all the source systems connected with your BW system which are UNICODE compliant even the self connecting source system.
    After that you will not need to do any changes in the IP.

  • Exchange profile error: dbconnect.prop: failed to load properties file .\dbconnect.properties

    All,
    We are using PO 7.4 with SP5, and we have an issue while accessing URL Exchange profile page (http://<host:port>/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/com.sap.xi.exprofui/XIProfileApp) it throw's the below error.
    dbconnect.prop: failed to load properties file .\dbconnect.properties
    dbconnect.prop: failed to load properties file
    Did some one seen this before and have resolved ? Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thank you, Pranay

    Though below note is not applicable to you, i would suggest you to check if the destination is created by the configuration wizard? If not you can create one and see if it helps.
    Create Java RFC destination XI_EXCHANGE_PROFILE manually: Navigate to http://[host]:[port]/nwa --> Configuration --> Infrastructure --> Destinations. Create the RFC Destination with PILDUSER as logon user.

  • Does the . character a reserved character?

    Hi,
    I would like to search the following information in a full text index: *10.1139/f91-051* I am then submit the following query:
    select * from mytable where contains(my_column,'"10.1139/f91-051" WITHIN doi') > 0
    but it does not return any data. However, when I replace the *.* character by a _*, I can retrieve my document:
    select * from mytable where contains(my_column,'"10_1139/f91-051" WITHIN doi') > 0
    Does the *.* character a reserved character? But when I try to escape it, it does not work neither:
    select * from mytable where contains(my_column,'"10\.1139/f91-051" WITHIN doi') > 0
    What did I do wrong?
    In the same way, what query should I submit to find all the I.B.M. words from my index for exemple?
    Kind regards,
    Fred

    I'm unable to reproduce this exactly as you've stated.
    A few things to note:
    - The double quotes in your query have no effect. There is no "phrase" operator in Oracle Text, tokens that follow each other are a phrase by default
    - The "-" character is a special operator, and needs to be escaped to be treated as a literal (you can precede it with a backslash or put braces (curly brackets) round the whole search term)
    - "\" and "/" are break characters by default.
    - "." is a join character ONLY within numbers. It's a break character within normal alphabetic text.
    Run the folliowing:
    -- drop table t;
    create table t (x varchar2(2000));
    insert into t values ('<doi>10.1139/f91-051</doi>');
    create index ti on t(x) indextype is ctxsys.context parameters ('section group ctxsys.auto_section_group');
    select token_text, decode(token_type, 0, 'Normal', 2, 'Zone Section') as "Token Type" from dr$ti$i order by token_type;The last query shows us what tokens are indexed. We should see:
    TOKEN_TEXT                                                       Token Type
    051                                                              Normal
    F91                                                              Normal
    10.1139                                                          Normal
    DOI                                                              Zone SectionSo we can run a query without the break characters
    SQL> select * from t where contains (x, '10.1139 f91 051 within doi') > 0;
    X
    <doi>10.1139/f91-051</doi>or we can run a query with the break characters in it, but with the "-" character escaped:
    SQL> select * from t where contains (x, '10.1139/f91\-051 within doi') > 0;
    X
    <doi>10.1139/f91-051</doi>The query that you claimed worked does not work for me because the "-" operator is not escaped (I'm on 11g - it's possible the behaviour is different in earlier versions, but unlikely)
    SQL> select x from t where contains(x,'"10_1139/f91-051" WITHIN doi') > 0;
    no rows selectedAs for your question about searching for "I.B.M.", you can search for "I.B.M." or "I B M" and it will find it. You can also set "." to be a SKIPJOINS character, in which case you can search for "I.B.M." or "IBM" (but not "I B M").
    Note there is a gray area for tokens which are partly numeric - "1.23ABC" will probably be indexed as a single token, whereas "ABC1.23" will probably be indexed as two tokens "ABC1" and "23". This is because for performance reasons the lexer does not backtrack - when it hits the "." in the first example it thinks it is handling a pure number and therefore treats the "." as a numeric join character.
