Jsessionid - weblogic 10.3.5, saml 2.0 & adfs 2.0 with peopletools 8.5x

We have set up SAML 2.0 to enable sso into peoplesoft (idp is adfs 2.0).
On a simple sample web application SAML is working correctly.
However when we tried to enable this for one of our Peoplesoft systems we ran into the issue that after the final
redirect to the target access is denied.
Peoplesoft is using a non-standard cookie name:
from weblogic.xml
<session-param>
<param-name>CookieName</param-name>
<param-value>PSDev2-0-PORTAL-PSJSESSIONID</param-value>
</session-param>
According to http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/secmanage/saml.html
\quote
Use of Non-default Cookie Name
When the Assertion Consumer Service logs in the Subject contained in an assertion, an HTTP servlet session is created using the default cookie name JSESSIONID. After successfully processing the assertion, the ACS redirects the user’s request to the target web application. If the target web application uses a cookie name other than JSESSIONID, the Subject’s identity is not propagated to the target web application. As a result, the servlet container treats the user as if unauthenticated, and consequently issues an authentication request.
To avoid this situation, do not change the default cookie name when deploying web applications in a domain that are intended to be accessed by SAML 2.0 based single sign-on.
\endquote
This is exactly the issue we encounter. SAML itself is working properly. However, on redirect to the target application access is denied.
Now, if we disable the non-default cookie name in the peoplesoft application we get the error message 'cookies must be enabled' when trying to access i.e. \signon.html.
What can we do to make SAML 2.0 work with Peoplesoft?
Is there a way to change the cookie name for SAML or share the SAML session with the peoplesoft application?
Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Hi Karl,
I have reproduced your issue in my environment:
<session-descriptor>
     <cookie-name>HELLO_WORLD_SSO</cookie-name>
</session-descriptor>What I am seeing is that Weblogic is not able to fix the user session (JSESSIONID), so it sends again the authentication request. Actually, in my case, it performs 5-6 retries. If you take a look at THE ADFS2 log you will see an exception like this: "The same client browser has made 6 request in the last 4 seconds..." At the end the IdP sends you a SAMLResponse with the status urn:oasis:names:tc:SAML:2.0:status:Responder. Weblogic +"translates"+ that message in a *403 Forbidden Error*.
Maybe you could feed that cookie, PSDev2-0-PORTAL-PSJSESSIONID, by yourself, i.e. implementing a filter:
HttpServletResponse httpServletResponse = (HttpServletResponse) response;
httpServletResponse.addCookie(new Cookie("PSDev2-0-PORTAL-PSJSESSIONID", yourValue));
.../...Hope it helps,
Luis

  • Unable to run ADF Project Using with Jdev 10 and Weblogic server 9.2

    Dear All,
    I am unable to run ADF Project on Weblogic Server 9.2. I am created Sample Project with ADF Control. This was when we create jsp at that time i am selected libraries ADF. After created war file. This war i am deploying into Server. At that time i am getting error java.lang.noclassfound error.
    so please tell me how we can run these application.
    Regards,
    Suresh.V

    Hard to help you here. JDev 10 used to work with OAS 10g as application server. This does not mean that you can't use Weblogic9.2, but because it is not the default configuration you may have some problems doing this.
    One problem is that you need to install the ADF runtime libraries in the WLS 9.2 server, but there is no installer I know of. You can try to deploy the needed libraries together with your app, but you have to figure out which libraries you need.
    Next thing is that you should deploy an EAR instead of a WAR.

    Did it complete or abort at that error?
    It appears to be just a font file; it the installation completed, you might be able to
    ignore this. If more CRC errors occur, the download might be corrupted.

  • WebLogic 10.3.2.0 (11gR1) on Solaris 10 problems with jdbc

    I have Solaris 10 10/09 running on a SPARC machine.
    I install WebLogic 11gR1, use development mode (using the SUN 1.6 jvm) and create a JDBC connection to DB2 on another machine using Oracle's XA DB2 driver. The connection test is successful. A restart of WebLogic returns everything is good. I change the connection pool max capacity to 50 (up from the default of 15) in the web interface and save the settings, everything is fine. Then I shutdown WebLogic using the appropriate command and re-start it... only to find that the jdbc connection has failed with the following error:

    Modifying the connection in the xml to lower the max pool size back to the default value of 15 doesn't net any progress.
    Removing and re-creating the connection doesn't fix the problem. Creating a new WebLogic domain doesn't fix the problem. The only thing that fixes the problem (allows the jdbc connection to be re-created and run successfully) is to blow away the entire WebLogic install, reinstall and re-create the domain. Occasionally even this doesn't help.
    This is repeatable like clockwork.
    Moving the pool max up to 30 didn't throw the error, but moving to 50 did.

    Hi. I've never seen anything like this, and it seems to be something which
    the JDBC module is going to be an innocent victim of, rather than a
    contributor to... Your best course is to open an official support case.

  • How to upgrade weblogic domain from 10.3.2 to 10.3.6, with em modules

    I have upgraded the 10.3.2 Weblogic domain to 10.3.6 Weblogic domain, 10.3.2 domain contains the EM, JRF WL Add-on services. After upgrade EM, JRF services loading was failed. setDomainEnv.sh settings were overwritten. Domain upgrade will support FMW services upgrade, setdomainEnv configurations recovery or we need to update the FMW services path, copy the custom configurations from old setDomainEnv.sh to new setDomainEnv.sh

    Hi,
    You need to upgrade FMW stack too apart from WLS then only those libraries will active or else it will have issues with libraries supported versions.

    a max uptime of 30 hours doesn't say much for the reliability of the product
    especially since there was zero utilization...

  • Weblogic 12c : Spring taglib No tag library could be found with this URI

    Hello,
    I have an application which deploy perfectly on JBOSS 7 and Websphere
    My WAR includes WEB-INF/lib/spring-webmvc.jar which contains all .tld files declaration (stardard stuff up to now....)
    When I try to acces ths page (JSP) I got : No tag library could be found with this URI
    Really don't know why ??

    I think that there is bug in JSP precompilation by weblogic 12c maven plugin and appc. Seems me that jsp compiler can lose sometimes tag libraries it's precompiling. Next retry using exactly same pom can be successful. I get same results using command line and OEPE 12.1.1.0 mave(pom). My java options for maven package are(-Xmx1024m -Xms1024m -XX:PermSize=512m).
    When I get the error it's something like
    "Failed to execute goal com.oracle.weblogic:wls-maven-plugin:12.1.1.0:appc (default) on project ui_elements:
    There are 1 nested errors:
    weblogic.utils.compiler.ToolFailureException: jspc failed with errors :weblogic.servlet.jsp.CompilationException: naviButtons.tag:23:6: The tag handler class was not found "jsp_servlet._tags.__pagelink_tag".
    <T:pageLink url="${naviStatus.previousPage.linkUrl}"
    ^--------^
    naviButtons.tag:23:6: The tag handler class was not found "jsp_servlet._tags.__pagelink_tag".
    <T:pageLink url="${naviStatus.previousPage.linkUrl}"
    Failed to execute goal com.oracle.weblogic:wls-maven-plugin:12.1.1.0:appc (default) on project ui_elements:"
    Next unsuccessful compilation can mention different tags. Very irregular behavior.
    Do you have resolution?

  • Weblogic Portal 10.3.5 using JSF 1.2 portlets with ADF faces

    We are developing Portal site using Weblogic Portal 10.3.5 with JSF portlet 1.2 and ADF faces (ADF Application runtime 11.1.1.5 ). But the JSF portlets not supporting ADF faces. Please let me know how we use ADF faces in JSF portlet 1.2 in Weblogic Portal.

    Hi Murthy,
    We did a detailed analysis.
    (1) How do we add ADF taskflows, JSF in to weblogic portal desktop/pages? Do we create portlet out of JSF, and display on desktop/page? If this is the case, what about ADf task flows?
    --> Taskflows can be deployed as WSRP2.0 portlets. Note 2 options are there JSF page as portlet or taskflow itself as portlets.
    (2) How do we integrate weblogic user profiles and UUP (unified user profiles) with ADF and JSF?
    --> ADF Security can use Weblogic Server realm as the security provider. Entitlements in WLP will have to be provided based on Weblogic Server roles. In case you are using external LDAP then both can be integrated withe external LDAP
    (3) Can anybody shed some light which this better?
    (a) weblogic portal with JPF (Java page flows), NetUI --Legacy approach
    Pros:
    -Easy Development
    -Well tested integrated
    Cons:
    -Future support
    -Enhancements may not be available
    -Not really portable or standards based
    (b) weblogic portal with ADF, JSF?
    Pros:
    -If your on Oracle stack then great
    -Standards based
    Cons:
    -JSF Portlet bridge issues
    -ADF Faces does not work on IE6!
    Well what we are going for is JSR 286, Trinidad components (Supports IE6), JSF.
    Difficult choice.

  • Env: Weblogic 8.1.5 Getting empty return in test view with new data

    Hi, I am using Weblogic 8.1.5, Basically a run down of this issue is that my response in test view, is completely Empty when I add a new piece of data in the response current code example below:
      SuccessResponseType srtype = SuccessResponseType.Factory.newInstance();
                srtype.setFacDesig(inFacDesig);
                srtype.setFacType(inFacType);
                srtype.setFacTermA(inTermA);
                srtype.setFacTermZ(inTermZ);
                srtype.setNotes(NoteRtn);
                srtype.setE3Array(rtn);
                Response.setSuccessResponse(srtype);Basically when srtype.setNotes(NoteRtn); is added in test view NONE of the values get populated, but once I comment srtype.setNotes(NoteRtn); out all the other values get populated in the response. At this point I am just plugging dummy data for the value of NoteRtn just to figure out why its doing this. Here is some example output.
    This is a response when the new line is commented out : (Its a decent amount of stuff so I cut some out, but you get the idea)
    <ns:successResponse>
    <ns:FacDesig>20027</ns:FacDesig>

    This is what I get when I add in srtype.setNotes(NoteRtn);
    <ns:successResponse>
    </ns:successResponse>
    its just completely empty. My experience with weblogic and webservices is limited as it is, I am basically looking for someone to point me in the right direction for getting this resolved. I did not code the app I am just enhancing to in essence just add 2 strings of data to the response. The .xsd file is properly set up with the new elements and the response in the .xsd is properly set up. I am just at a loss as to what can cause the whole response to go kaput, by adding one more response type.

  • The weblogic.jar has the javax.management.*, it is conflict with rt.jar's

    Hello guys:
    I want to use JMX 1.0 to communicate with weblogic 8.1. The client should be run in the Java 1.5

    stream classdesc serialVersionUID = -5467795090068647408, local class serialVersionUID = 1081892073854801359I know the reason is java 1.5 has JMX 1.2 in it.
    So how can I program a class loader to load the weblogic.jar classes in? I have tried a lot of code, but failed.

  • Weblogic 6.0 (SP2) generates incorrect java code for JSP with response.sendRedirect()

              Hi,
              Here are the steps to reproduce the problem with the examplesWebApp application
              bundled with wlserver6.0(sp2):
              Product: Weblogic server 6.0 (sp2)
              Browser: IE 5.0
              1. Add index.jsp as the welcome file in WEB-INF/web.xml
              2. Create index.jsp as below:
              <%
              response.sendRedirect("index.html");
              return;
              %>
              <html>
              <head>
              <title>Index JSP file</title>
              </head>
              <body>
              <font color="red">This is index.jsp file </font>
              </body>
              </html>
              3. Create index.html as below:
              <html>
              <head>
              <title>Index HTML file</title>
              </head>
              <body>
              <font color="red">This is index.html file </font>
              </body>
              </html>
              4. Run the examples server and make sure examplesWebApp is deployed on the examples
              server using the console
              5. Access the URL http://localhost:7001/examplesWebApp
              The page will display a compilation error as below:
              C:\bea\wlserver6.0\config\examples\applications\examplesWebApp\WEB-INF\_tmp_war_examplesServer_examplesServer_examplesWebApp\jsp_servlet\_index.java:89:
              unreachable statement
              out.print("\r\n<html>\r\n<head>\r\n<title>Simple html</title>\r\n</head>\r\n<body>\r\n<font
              color=\"red\">This is index.jsp page</font>\r\n</body>\r\n</html>\r\n");
              ^
              and a look at the generated java code for index.jsp (_index.java) will reveal
              the erroneous code snippet below in the jsp service method:
              try { // error page try block
              //[ /index.jsp; Line: 1]
              response.sendRedirect("index.html"); //[ /index.jsp; Line: 2]
              return; //[ /index.jsp; Line: 3]
              out.print("\r\n<html>\r\n<head>\r\n<title>Simple html</title>\r\n</head>\r\n<body>\r\n<font
              color=\"red\">This is index.jsp page</font>\r\n</body>\r\n</html>\r\n");
              } catch (Exception __ee) {
              while (out != null && out != _originalOut) out = pageContext.popBody();
              pageContext.handlePageException(__ee);
              The above web application works fine in Tomcat 3.2.X environment. The Weblogic
              server 6.0 servlet engine should not generate the "out.println()" corresponding
              to the html section of index.jsp. The moment it sees the "return", it should stop
              processing further.
              Can someone from Weblogic support team please verify this and let me know when
              this bug will be fixed?
              One interesting thing I noticed was when we last tried weblogic 6.0 at its beta
              stage, it worked fine after we put in a special patch jar file called "redirectfix.jar"
              we received from weblogic team but somehow it got re-introduced by the time it
              was released!!
              We are planning to migrate our product from tomcat 3.2.x to weblogic 6.0. Our
              product has a lot of pages with such conditional {response.sendRdirect("page.jsp");return;}
              blocks. We would really appreciate a faster response form weblogic team.
              Thanks in advance.

    Why should it stop when it sees a return? Is that in the spec?

  • Weblogic 8.1 SP3 on windows NT workstation 4.0 with SP6

    weblogic 8.1 with SP3 is not getting installed on windows NT workstation. Once the platform813_win32.exe is executed, its successfully unpacking the files, but later it comes with the weblogic white screen, but doesnt proceed further.
    I dont have problem in installing weblogic 8.1 SP2. Is there any specific reason or the latest release can no more be installed on NT.
    I tried all possible ways like
    1. trying to update the existing Sp2.
    2. Installing it completely etc.
    i also tried installing in 2 other machines.
    Can anyone help me out ? Appreciate any help in this regard.
    Thanks
    Kris

    Hi -
    Windows NT is not listed under supported configurations at http://e-docs.bea.com/platform/suppconfigs/configs81/81_over/overview.html
    You should have at least Windows 2000 Professional.
    Thanks!
