I have no idea about JSF :(
Can some one please give me any online resource or e-book where I can lern the basics of JSF, like a simple "Hello JSF World" program.
Java Studio Creator creats jsp files as xml, I am unable to understand the sintax. If any resource on that it will be greate.

I'm having trouble getting JSF 1.2 (myFaces implementation) running with Tomcat 6. Pretty much any JSF tag I use gives me this error:
javax.servlet.ServletException: /index.jsp(22,4) According to TLD or attribute directive in tag file, attribute value does not accept any expressions
javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet.service(FacesServlet.java:152)I've done a search, and found some old threads that offer many different solutions that don't work (replace jars in tomcat lib dir, or other wierd configuration changes). It seems tomcat 6 shouldn't need any wierd hacks to play nice with JSF 1.2, as it meets the Servlet and JSP spec required. Any idea whats going on here?

What do I need to run/use JSF ??
Sorry for a rather dumb question. We have a client/server system we would like to convert into a Web Based app using JSF.. we developed our system on J2SE 1.4
1. What software/runtime environment do I need ?
2. What downloads must I grab to start using it ??

first you'll need the JSF (latest current release EA3) found under:
http://java.sun.com/j2ee/javaserverfaces/
then an application server, e.g. tomcat/catalina supplied with the JWDSP and the J2EE platform found at:
http://java.sun.com/webservices/downloads/webservicespack.html
and
http://java.sun.com/j2ee/download.html
respectively.
Having installed the JSF you'll find a JSF Spec and tutorial where everything else (configuration, etc.) is explained.
If you're experiencing problems with the JWSDP 1.1 try getting hold of JWSDP 1.01.

Hi All,
I am having difficulty displaying the content of Users table (Derby sample database) despite having followed all the steps provided in Using Java Persistence API Within a Visual Web JSF Application Netbeans Tutorial (http://testwww.netbeans.org/kb/60/web/web-jpa.html).
It is uncleard from the instruction in step 3, section Creating a Java Persistence Entity Class Representing the Users Database Table - "The Entity Classes dialog dispalys. The IDE displays the database table name Users, and suggests a class name of Users. (Double click this class name to change it.)", but did not provide detail on what class name should it be changed to.
I have tried building both TestModelApp (SE) and TestWebApp (Visual Web JSF) on JDK 1.6.13, Netbeans 6.5, Glassfish v2r2 and v3 (Prelude) on Windows XP platform without success.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

JackWell, in real world the average professional Java EE / JSF developer doesn't use Netbeans nor Woodstock. Those are really for low-entry developers with zero technical knowledge who on its turn are often incapable of answering problems of your kind. Your question is also too non-technical and visualized and targeted on the wizards of Netbeans. After all your question is simply Netbeans specific, not JSF specific. If you try to ask it the more technical way (thus, at real source code level), you may have more chance on help.
With regard to JPA specific issues, it unfortunately doesn't have a dedicated subforum yet here at forums.sun.com. You could try the [EJB forum|http://forums.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=13] or the [Java EE SDK|http://forums.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=136] forum. -

I really don't know whats up with JSF. Any Tutorial I found referes to WSDP1.2 . But this Version is not accessable anymore. WSDP2.0 iscompletly different to 1.2 .

The problem is the only option listed under Behavior is Landmark. The other properties are not shown including the
AutoSubmitt which I need to set to True.

would have been of great help if you provided the link to the tutorial (just for next time). You can see that the focus in the screen shot is on the salary field. The screen shot below then shows the behavior property palette and clearly you can see that there is an autosubmit property. Chances are that you did not put the cursor focus properly on the input text component or the Property Inspector did not refresh. In the latter case, close and re-open the property inspector or select the input text component in Structure Window

I go the following error messages while running SRDemo
(web application - EJB 3.0, JSF, JPA) tutorial (Java EE tutorial from JavaEE_tutorial_setup.zip) on page 44 of 222 - testing the data model in JDeveloper version 10.1.3.1, the tutorial shows what the output should be, but I got the errors even though I followed all the steps, all JAVA EXPERTS, could you tell me what might be wrong? how should I do with those configureation files like persistence.xml? I have the tutorial working fine now, it was a problem with the caching in my browser I think.
My question is how now do I get your example to work with myFaces? What steps must I follow now in order to get the app to work with myFaces? Do I need to copy in all the commons*.jar files along with the myfaces jars to my apps classpath?I have got the app working now with myfaces. I got a blank app from http://www.coreservlets.com/JSF-Tutorial/ but what puzzles me is why are all the extra jars needed for the myfaces implementation that were not needed for the RI one?

Whenever I make a JSF Template and use it to make another JSF page, the design view does not shows the facet I've added, thus I cannot put any components using the design view. I basically fail to get the screen shown at #4 of the "Create a Page Using the Page Template" section in the tutorial.
Am I missing a configuration or something ?
Thanks.I tried looking at the logs (with the option on) and didn't see anything. I'll continue to investiguate on this.
Here is the template code followed by the "child" page code. On the page code, I can't put anything inside the facet using the designer, but using the structure, I can.
