JSF and Database tables in the pages...

Hi guys,
I am following this excellent tutorial http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/06-jan/o16jsf.html as I am learning JSF using JDeveloper. Unfortunately since my knowledge of JDeveloper and JSF being rather limited, there is one section in the tutorial that I am unable to understand. If you do a search on that web page and type in 'column1' without the quotes, I am unable to understand where the author got that object from.
Barring that I also had another question. I just saw a demo video of Netbeans taking the Entity beans generated from the database tables and creating JSF pages based on the tables with one click that showed the data very nicely in a table format in the jsp page. Is there some sort of functionality like that? Or is that JEE 5 specific? Also is JDeveloper JEE 5 compliant as of yet?

Before I make an even bigger fool of myself in this forum, the tutorial has 2 parts. Does part 2 depend on part 1 to get it working right because I feel as if I am missing something.
Also it seems that for however many columns we are able to retrieve from our ResultSet we should know beforehand so we can code up the DataTable. This might not be the case all the time I guess, so is that where the JSF support in the ADF framework comes in and makes life a lot easier for the developer?

I'm working on a project in which I have static content
pages, plus I'm creating a set of dynamic pages that display jobs
and events listings etc. The dynamic pages are going to run off an
access database.
I'm need to create a search facility on the site. At present
I'm planning to use a drop down box (or radio buttons ?) to allow
the user to select which part of the site to search (main site,
jobs or events), the selection will determine which search page the
form query is passed to (site text search or database query search
page).
Am I approaching this correctly.
Can anyone comment on possibly a better or alternative way of
providing such a search option ? (searching both static pages and
database tables)

Access is not inserting, updating or deleting records in my database table on the server

I am having a problem with an application I developed using Dreamweaver 8 and Access 2000 several years ago which is no longer working correctly. The problem is that Access is not inserting, updating or deleting records in my database table on the server but is reflected in changes to my Web site. I used the Dreamweaver server behaviors: insert record, update record and delete record to make the changes to my Access table on the server. My Access table on the server shows all of the records I inserted or updated in the past, but not any of the newly inserted on updated records.
does any one have any ideas as to what my problem is?

No, that has nothing to do with your problem. Let's make sure I understand the symptoms.
1) Your site is online at a remote host.
2) You use a dynamic page in your online site to update a database record (insert, delete, or update)
3) The update then appears correctly on your dynamic content page.
4) You download the mdb and it appears to not have any of the upates you just made.
Please correct any of these statements if they are wrong.
If the above is correct, then you must be looking at a cached mdb, or the mdb you are looking at is in the wrong location. Do this: search your entire drive for copies of the mdb, including in the Windows temp directories which is likely where the cached copy is located. Delete any extra copies and download again.

How to transport the DATABASE TABLE into the Test system ?

I am working on BI7, I had created Database table in BDV system using SE11. Tech_name is ZGLACC_TEMP. I had activated it. I had used this database table for the purpose of writing the start routine in the transformation. while I am transporting the transformations to the test system, It is showing as syntax error in ABAP program,
In BDV system there are no syntax errors. it is working fine,
So now I have to transport the database table to test system so that I can transport the transformations into Test system without any error.
Kindly anyone can give the answer , it will be appreciate and points will be assigned.

Hi Sekhar,
Go to SE11, go into the change mode of your table and change the Object Directory entry (Goto -> Object Directory Entry) to some valid package (other than $tmp). Then it will ask for a transport request. Give a transport request and then I believe you know what to do with that transport.
Another thing to keep in mind ... transport all the data elements and domains you have created for this table. Change their Object Directory Entry and assign them to the same transport request.

Create a data source and database tables using WSAD

"To create the data source and Cloudscape database tables automatically, right click on the HelloWorldServer in the Servers view, and select the Create tables and data sources menu item. A dialog will then display showing that the data source and database tables were created successfully (Figure 5)."
I am using WSAD 5.0 trial version. I cannot find Create tables and data sources menu item if I right click on the HelloWorldServer in the Servers view. I am wondering if this is because trial version does not have this feature?

Is it possible to have my source and target tables in the Same achema.......will it have any performance issues or some other issues in our ODI.......

Yes, you're correct.
Just be sure about you load strategy, it means, if you need only to insert use the KM Control Append, but if need update too, try the IKM Oracle Incremental Update... I believe that will work better for millions of lines.
Anyway be sure that your database has the necessary tablespaces to manage huge data volume.

How to show master and detail tables in different pages?

you have ti create a Master/Detail data structure.
In the first page drag the master table, on the second drag a detail table.
It should work out of the box. Selecting a record on the master table selects
the details on the detail table automatically!

I primarily print photos from Photoshop CS5. The term Page Set-up has gone missing in the file pull down menu. Can't make any choices There are no page sizes, paper types, appearsto be locked on a 13x19 size paper format. Either being too large or too small.
Saw a 2008 locked issue about this however none of the help fit my situation, options discussed are not available to me.
Preview has no "Page Setup" - or does it?
Does the constant struggle with computer compatability weirdness issues ever end or is it a enslavement scheme?

Hey,
if you know the name(s) of the root folder(s) you want to access (eg. by making a note on the Windows side) then you can make them appear by just doing Shift-Command-G in Finder ("Go to Folder…"), and entering the full path to the required folders. You can then navigate all the contents as normal.

I can get them on the page but I'd like them on the left and right sides.

If the icons are from dmg files that were used to install 3rd party apps like this one for VueScan
Control (right) - click on the open dmg icon and select "Eject xxxx" from the contextual window.
Then find the actual dmg file associated with those icons
and drag to the Trash in the Dock and empty.

Can source and target tables be the same

Hi there,
I need to restate profit center column in the delivery fact table. Historical Profit Centers need to be populated since today is the first time we brought in Profit Center field from LIPS table. The source for the delivery fact table is SAP LIPS table. so what I did is:
joined the LIPS and delivery fact table on (LIPS.delivery number = deliveryfacttable.delivery number & LIPS.delivery line item number = deliveryfacttable.delivery line item number) to get the profit center.
So the source and the target delivery fact table are the same. Is this a good practice becuase Data services warns me that the source and target tables are the same.
Please let me know a better alternative approach to this OR a better approach to restate fields for historical data. Thanks in advance.

actually the LIPS resides on another server and in order to fetch data I have to write an R3 ABAP data flow, so I cant use it directly in a lookup.
Except what Im thinking based on your reply to use a lookup table is: that I will extract 3 colums (delivery number, delivery line item number and profit center) to a table and then use the lookup.
