JSF hr schema passing parameters example JDev V10.1.3.2.0

Hi All,
Is there a standard way of using the hr schema to "select an employee" to edit within an editEmp page by 1st choosing from a list of employees belonging to a department, then from this list select the employee to edit.
I have been able to select an employee to edit by creating a named query based on
the employee table and pass the value of a parameter (empName) to the editEmp page.
That works well.
I now wish to "select an employee" by 1st choosing from a list of employees belonging to a department, then from this list select the employee to edit.
ie. named query depNamedQuery with parameter called departmentName
then list all employees with this departmentId
then select an employee from this department list. Call editEmp and pass the employeeId parameter.
with thanks, Joe

hi,
I'm using Toplink to generate POJO, and the online demos such as the most current one on ADF, and using ADF with EJBs.
Both those demos illustrate parameter passing using defining parameters within a namedQuery or a MasterForm-DetailTable method BUT both do not illustrate using a af:SelectOneChoice dropDown list of department names on one JSF page then navigate to an ADF table of employees within that selected department, then navigate to an employeeEdit ADF form page for the selected employee.
The current online demo is a master-detail of department-Employee. One might have to use the next button to sequentially list all the departments to find the required employee.
Is there a declarative way of selecting the employee for edit by first selecting the departmentName from a dropDownList component?
Joe.

  • Oracle JSF portlet Bridge - Passing parameters to Portlet

    Hi All,
    I am referring following link to pass parameters to portlets that are created from TaskFlow.
    http://sqltech.cl/doc/oas11gR1/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_bridge.htm#CACCJCAA.
    I am able to pass values to portlet by having setters for respective navigation parameter exposed in oracle-portlet.xml file
    Now, how to invoke the method in a portlet that will make use of the passed values and do further processing. The method would be same as getEmployees() mentioned in the tutorial above. But the getEmployee method is not invoked event after doing all the event mapping.
    Regards,
    Sanjay

    AH, if you are using ADF faces than the risk gets smaller. If you are used to eclipse and you developer your ADF application there than i see a good chance for succeeding later on.
    You might have small issues when migrating to JDeveloper but i don't think they will be blocking.
    If you are working with lots of WS, have you looked at the different types of mash-ups you have in WebCenter?
    For example the omniportlet which allows you to integrate webservices and style the parameter forms and output.
    You can also create data controls at runtime in Webcenter that are based upon webservices.
    There aren't many cases available. Maybe you should come to OOW in October (if that isn't to late). There will be some customers presenting their use cases there.

  • Composing a view with JSPs passing parameters (JSF 1.2)

    hi,
    I want to include a JSP in another twice. The two includes should work on different backing bean instances. (Of cource the include contains JSF components)
    Business case: An insurance policy has one reference to a person in the role insured person and another in the role policy owner. I would like to use the same JSP to present the two persons.
    Here is the question
    - Is it possible to pass parameters to an included JSP?
    - I tried it out (see code below) and it did not work using the reference implementaion 1_02-b08. Is there a mistake in the code or is this not supported? I checked the spec, but chapter 9.2.9 does not provide any information about the topic.
    - If this is not supported, how is this solved using standard jsp/jsf?
    (I know I can use facelets, but I expect a a solution in the standard)
    Kind regards
    Jan
    view.jsp:
    <f:view>
        <!-- the 'policy' is a managed bean with session scope  -->
        <jsp:include page="person.jsp>
            <jsp:param name="person" value="#{policy.insuredPerson}" />
        </jsp:include>
        <jsp:include page="person.jsp>
            <jsp:param name="person" value="#{policy.policyOwner}" />
        </jsp:include>
    </f:view>
    person.jsp (example displays the person's name)
    <h:outputText value="#{param.person.name}"></h:outputText>

    This is definitely supported in Apache Trinidad or Oracles ADF look at documentaion associated with Regions. I implemented this, in insurance policy, where we have each risk as a separate region that can be selectively included on a page.
    I know of no way of doing this in reference implemenation

  • JSF (Trinidad) passing parameters visibly on URL

    Hi,
    I can pass parameters with managed beans, but i they are not visible on url and i want some parameters to be visible so that user can copy-paste and share with someone else..
    How can i handle it? For example:
    user/userinfo.xhtml?id=123456
    Thanks

    Hi,
    if your attribute is on a input component (hidden or otherwise) it will be passes to the next page when the page is submitted.
    If you want the parameter to be appended to the URL/I then you need to change the form method to GET rather than POST.
    To operate on the parameter on the target page you can create an invoke action on the target pages page definition to do something in the model with the passed value.
    in PageDef of target page:
    Params section:
    <parameters>
        <parameter id="id"/>
      </parameters>in Bindings section:
    <methodAction id="findEmpById"
                      InstanceName="HRServiceDataControl.dataProvider"
                      DataControl="HRServiceDataControl" RequiresUpdateModel="true"
                      Action="invokeMethod" MethodName="findEmpById"
                      IsViewObjectMethod="false">
          <NamedData NDName="num" NDValue="${param.id}" NDType="java.lang.String"/>Invoke action in executables section to call the method above only if param id is passed:
    <executables>
        <invokeAction Binds="findEmpById" id="invokeFindByID" Refresh="ifNeeded"
                      RefreshCondition="${param.id != null}"/>
      </executables>AM method to do something with the param:
        public void findEmpById(String num){
            if (num != null){
                System.out.println("ID is: " + num);
            }else {
                System.out.println("ID is: null");
        }Brenden

  • Redirect to another jsf application passing parameters

    Hello,
    I'm newbie to JSF, so I hope to explain me almost correctly.
    I have to call from a jsf page the main page of another jsf application (SecondApplication) passing some parameters.
    I thought to pass them in Session. Is it possible, and how ?
    What I've written is totally wrong ?
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    i am doing this way:
    String mat = (String)request.getParameter("mat");but it always returns null...How does the following output look like?sistema.getDiretorio() + "?mat=123456"By the way, there is no need to invoke FacesContext#responseComplete() manually, because this is already done in the ExternalContext#redirect(). Also see its [API doc|http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/api/javax/faces/context/ExternalContext.html].
    String mat = (String)FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequestParameterMap().get("mat");but it always throws a NullPointerException ....What exactly throws NPE? You're invoking 4 method calls here. Maybe the FacesContext#getExternalContext(), because FacesContext#getCurrentInstance() can also return null?

  • GenericSoapPort passing parameters?

    Hi! We need to use GenericSoapPort called from an extenral application to update metadata in the UCM tables.
    Can you pass parameters to the GenericSoapPort, when you name a service to use?
    For example, here is how you would usually define the service to use:
          <ns1:Service IdcService="EUM_WORKFLOW_UPDATE_ACTIONS">
    But if the service is using TWO different update queries for two different tables, can we tell GenericSoapPort, which query to use?
    If possible, what is the syntax?
    Thank you for your help!
    Anya

    So, if I have this service, which uses two insert queries:
    <tr>
      <td>EUM_WORKFLOW_UPDATE_ACTIONS</td>
      <td>Service
      3
      null
      null
      null<br>
      null</td>
      <td>2:IEumWorkflowActions:::null</td>
            2:IEumWorkflowDocumentProcess:::null</td>
    </tr>
    How do I pass the parameters in my GenericSoapPort call as far as which query to use?  I can reference the service like this (in the IdcService element):
    <soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <soap:Body xmlns:ns1="http://www.oracle.com/UCM">
    <ns1:GenericRequest webKey="cs">
    <ns1:Service IdcService="EUM_WORKFLOW_UPDATE_ACTIONS">
    <ns1:User></ns1:User>
    <ns1:Document>
    <ns1:Field name="DOCPROCESSID">1111112</ns1:Field>
    <ns1:Field name="WORKFLOWTYPEID">01</ns1:Field>
    <ns1:Field name="DID">8617</ns1:Field>
    <ns1:Field name="DDOCNAME">008008</ns1:Field>
    <ns1:Field name="DREVLABEL">1</ns1:Field>
    <ns1:Field name="DUSER">Gerasimchuk</ns1:Field>
    <ns1:Field name="DOCPROCESSRESULT"></ns1:Field>
    <ns1:Field name="STARTTIME">23/01/2014</ns1:Field>
    <ns1:Field name="ENDTIME">(null)</ns1:Field>
    </ns1:Document>
    </ns1:Service>
    </ns1:GenericRequest>
    </soap:Body>
    </soap:Envelope>
    But in the situation above, how do I actually tell GenericSoapPort which query to use, in my case this will be either "IEumWorkflowActions" or "IEumWorkflowDocumentProcess"?
    Thanks for your help!

  • Passing parameters to Update page

    Hi,
    I created the search/create/update page going by the instructions in the tutorial exercise. My primary key is a combination of employee number AND sequence number.
    When I query the employee in the search page and if the employee has more than one record it displays all the records for that employee.
    When I click on the "update" button on one of the record, It is not displaying me the record on which I clicked the "update" button. Instead it is displaying me the other record for the same employee. I believe I need to pass the sequence value as the parameter, but do not know how to pass it. Can anyone one help me accomplish this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Al

    Hi,
    I created a new method(initQueryUpdate) in the VOImpl(here I am also setting the where clause).
    Also created a method(initDetailsUpdate) in the AMImpl and I am calling the vo.initQueryUpdate in AM code.
    I am also passing the parameters to method via a call in the ReviewupdateCO(am.invokeMethod("initDetailsUpdate", params);).
    It is compiling the entire jpr without any errors.
    When I Search an employee and clisk on the update button then I am geting the following error.
    I tried to pass parameters by putting them on the update button property with the action type of "fireAction.
    I also tried by making the actiontype "none" and putting the forwarding apge with parameters in the "Destination URL" property and still I get the error message when I run it. Any one has any clues.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Ali

  • How to open a page from a Form and pass parameters to the form on that page

    I found a similar example on this forum, but it did not work for me:
    declare
    l_names owa.vc_arr;
    l_values owa.vc_arr;
    i number;
    begin
    PORTAL.wwpro_api_parameters.retrieve(l_names, l_values);
    FOR i in 1..l_names.count
    LOOP
    htp.p(l_names(i) || ' ' || l_values(i));
    END LOOP;
    end;
    By using this method i get the parameters for the Form, like the session ID, but not the parameters for the Page that the form is displayed in.
    Another method I tried:
    To open a Form from a Form and pass parameters works fine like this:
    --In the After processing page PL/SQL event.
    declare
    v_id number;
    blk varchar2(10):='DEFAULT';
    Begin
    v_id:=p_session.get_value_as_number (p_block_name=&gt;blk,p_attribute_name=&gt;'A_ID');
    if v_id &gt; 0 then
    htp.formOpen('PORTAL.wwa_app_module.link?p_arg_names=_moduleid&p_arg_values=2649500412&p_arg_names=_show_header&p_arg_values=YES&p_arg_names=ID&p_arg_values='||to_char(v_id),'post');
    htp.formSubmit(NULL,'Upload Files');
    htp.formClose;
    end if;
    End;
    But I want to open a Page containing the Form instead of just opening the Form. Is this possible to open a Page and pass paramters to the page, and then let the form inside the Page access the passed paramters. The reason for this is that a Form cannot be based on a page template, or can it? When opening the form i want to keep the left menu, which I can if it is a page based on my template with the left menu.
    Best regards
    Halvor

    Hi,
    You can do this by calling the url of the page with the form. You can then use p_arg_names and p_arg_values to pass parameters. In the called form you can get the value from p_arg_names and p_arg_values and assign it to the form field.
    You can call this code in the success procedure of the calling form.
    declare
    v_id number;
    blk varchar2(10):='DEFAULT';
    v_url varchar2(2000);
    Begin
    v_id:=p_session.get_value_as_number (p_block_name=>blk,p_attribute_name=>'A_ID');
    v_url := <page_url>;
    if v_id > 0 then
    call(v_url||'&p_arg_names=id&p_arg_values='||v_id);
    end if;
    End;
    In the called form in "Before displaying form" plsql section write this code.
    for i in 1..p_arg_names.count loop
    if p_arg_names(i) = 'id' then
    p_session.set_value(
    p_block_name => blk,
    p_attribute_name => 'A_ID',
    p_value => p_arg_values(i)
    end if;
    end loop;
    This code picks up the value from p_arg_values and assigns it to the form field.
    Hope that helps.

  • How to call OAF standard page from form by passing parameters?

    Hi,
    I have a requirement where I need to call a standard OAF page from Oracle form, I was able to call the page through personalization, but I also want to pass a parameter to the OAF page and query the OAF page using that parameter, could anyone please help?
    Note: Under the forms personalization I wrote the below code for parameters
    Actions --> Parameters--> ='contractLineId='||:OKS_LINES.ID
    Thanks,
    Bharat

    Hi Niladri,
    My requirement was calling the OAF page from standard form (menu), below are the steps that I followed,
    1) Get the OAF page function name
    2) Personalize the form, by calling the OAF page function
    a) Function Code: Give the OAF function code
    b) Parameter: Here pass the parameters
    example: ='contractLineId='||:OKS_LINES.ID
    Note: If you are calling from a custom form you can also try using fnd_function.execute to call the OAF page
    Thanks,
    Bharat

  • Passing parameters between portlets (PL/SQL PDK)

    I'm new to the PDK, so forgive me if this is a dumb question. I need to develop a portal page containing a single search portlet, and then many other associated portlets which bring back various bits of data based on the result of the search.
    Is it possible to drive the content of other portlets on the same page by passing values from one to another and refreshing the whole page?
    null

    Neil,
    You can definitely pass parameters from one portlet to another in PL/SQL and we actually have a sample that you can take a look at. In the PDK, download the Parameter passing and CSS Example Provider sample. http://technet.oracle.com/products/iportal/files/pdkjan/index.html
    Click on PL/SQL
    One of the portlets demonstrates how to pass parameters to one portlet or all portlets on a page.
    Hope this helps,
    Sue

  • Passing Parameters via Post Method from Webdynpro Java to a web application

    Hello Experts,
    I want to pass few parameters from a web dynpro application to an external web application.
    In order to achieve this, I am referring to the below thread:
    HTTP Post
    As mentioned in the thread, I am trying to create an additional Suspend Plug parameter (besides 'Url' of type String) with name 'postParams' and of type Map.
    But when I build my DC, I am getting the same error which most of the people in the thread have mentioned:
    Controller XXXCompInterfaceView [Suspend]: Outbound plug (of type 'Suspend') 'Suspend' may have at most two parameters: 'Url' of type 'string' and 'postParams' of type 'Map'.
    I am using SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio Version: 7.01.00
    Kindly suggest if this is the NWDS version issue or is it something else that I am missing out.
    Also, if it is the NWDS version issue please let me know the NWDS version that I can use to avoid this error.
    Any other suggestion/alternative approach to pass the parameters via POST method from webdynpro java to an external web application apart from the one which is mentioned in the above thread is most welcome.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Anurag

    Hi,
    This is purely a java approach, even you can try this for your requirement.
    There are two types of http calls synchronous call or Asynchronous call. So you have to choose the way to pass parameters in post method based on the http call.
    if it is synchronous means, collect all the values from users/parameters using UI element eg: form and pass all the values via form to the next page is nothing but your web application url.
    If it is Asynchronous  means, write a http client in java and integrate the same with your custom code and you can find an option for sending parameters in post method.
    here you go and find the way to implement Asynchronous  scenario,

  • Passing Parameters in a URL to Reports - Need Help Urgently !

    I have created Image Maps (content area) where I pass parameters in the URL as follows :
    <area shape="rect" coords="335,66,528,83" href="http://townland:7778/pls/portal30/PORTAL30.RPT_SUMKWH.show_parms?meter=PMS 11BBA01">
    <area shape="rect" coords="400,55,600,90" href="http://townland:7778/pls/portal30/PORTAL30.RPT_SUMKWH.show_parms?meter=PMS 11BBA02">
    I am having a problem passing this meter parameter to the report [I am generating this report (RPT_SUMKWH) using SQL Query] :
    I have tried the following :
    1) I tried referencing this parameter in the 'Additional PL/SQL code, before displaying page' section of my Report as :- wwpro_api_parameters.get_value('meter', 'RPT_SUMKWH')
    but this did not work (this made the package body invalid).
    2) I then tried using the meter parameter as a bind variable in my SELECT Query of the Report, then, in the 'Customisation Form' section, I place :- wwpro_api_parameters.get_value('meter', 'RPT_SUMKWH') under Default Value, however, when I go back to my Image Map content area & ty to click on the URL, I get an error "Page does not display" .
    How do I then pass this parameter to my report, where do I place the code to make the call for the parameter being passed from the Image Map URL in the content area??
    AVD

    Hi,
    You will have to encode your parameter value. The problem is because of the spaces in the value. Whenever there any special
    characters in the value it should be encoded.
    example
    select '<area shape="rect" coords="335,66,528,83" href="http://townland:7778/pls/portal30/PORTAL30.RPT_SUMKWH.show_parms?meter='||
    <portal_schema>.wwutl_htf.url_encode('PMS 11BBA01')||'">pams</a>' url
    from meters
    The above is just an example. Please change the names to suit your requirements.
    Thanks,
    Sharmila

  • Pass Parameters to T.Code  in the portal from aTransaction Iview.

    Good Morning.
    I published a T.code in the portal as a Transaction Iview. This work fine.
    I want pass a parameter to this t.code and that the program ABAP can get this value .
    I check a suggestion in the post following :
    From Portal transaction iView
    I did the steps , but this not work. I don't can get the value passed in the field Applications Parameters.
    Attach screenshot with the steps that I did.
    [Screenshot|http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/3d4dd249ad.jpg]
    I want know how can solve this issue?
    Thank in advance.
    Regards

    Hi Carmen,
    The bottom line is that this cannot be done for transaction iviews without modifying the standard webgui service in SICF, which is probably not a good idea (since it affects everyone using SAP GUI for HTML). (You could hack the appintegrator to add the ~webgui_simple_toolbar parameter to the transaction URL template in the portal, but again its not a recommended thing to do ...). Better to create an IAC service in SICF with ~webgui=1 where you set the required appearance using an appropriate value for ~webgui_simple_toolbar, and then create an IAC iview to point at this service.
    You can even override the ~transaction value configured in the new service in individual IAC iviews by entering the appropriate value in the application parameter of the iview, for example:
    ~okcode=/nSU01
    And you can pass parameters in the same way:
    ~okcode=/nSU01 USR02-BNAME=xyz;USREFUS-USERALIAS=abc;
    By the way, it would not be recommended to create a URL iview to access an IAC, since you are likely to encounter session management issues in this scenario - better to use an IAC iview.

  • Problem in passing parameters in command line in desktop

    Hi,
    I am trying to generate reports from command line (Oracle Discoverer 4i Version 4.1.42.04.00) but I am facing problems when I try to pass date or numeric parameters. It seems to work with strings
    The following command is successful when i pass string as parameters
    C:\orant\DISCVR4\dis4usr.exe /connect reports/reports@orcl /opendb load_report_1 /batch /sheet 2 /parameter "P Date" "31-JUL-2006 Month End" /export xls c:\Temp\load_report_!
    But in the following commands the command line execution stops when a worksheet with parameters is encountered. Once then parameter is entered the command line is executed successfully. In these problem cases it seems like the /parameter option is not being recognized. I have tried to pass parameters with double quotes, single quotes, without any quotes.
    C:\orant\DISCVR4\dis4usr.exe /connect reports/reports@orcl /opendb "load report 2" /sheet 3 /parameter "Select P Day" "20-JUN-2006" /batch /export xls c:\Temp\load_Report_2
    C:\orant\DISCVR4\dis4usr.exe /connect reports/reports@orcl /opendb "load report 3" /batch /sheet 1 /parameter "Enter Date Using Format YYYYMMDD" 20060703 /export xls c:\Temp\load_report_3
    The only difference I can see is that I have not used double quotes in the command line that is successful in generating reports with parameters.
    Any inputs will be appreciated - we are stuck in our project due to this issue. Many thanks.
    Warm regards
    Sucharita

    Hi
    I work in the same team as the original poster.
    We tried by changing NLS_DATE_FORMAT for the oracle_home.
    Just to clarify our issue I am describing it one more time below -
    Using Disc desktop (4.1.42) we are trying to run the reports using command line interface. Any report that takes character input for the parameters ,is running fine in the batch mode without prompting.
    Any report that takes Date/Numeric input for the parameters, though in batch mode, is prompting for user to give the parameters.We tried with quotes as well.
    For Example -
    1. Character input : when we run this command supplying the input parameter values (which are characters), report runs fine without prompting for values.
    C:\orant\DISCVR4\dis4usr.exe /connect rep/rep@orals /opendb Schd_Report /batch /sheet 2 /parameter "Process Date" "31-JUL-2006 Month End" /export xls c:\audit_report_5
    2. Date Input -
    C:\orant\DISCVR4\dis4usr.exe /connect rep/rep@orals /opendb "DLS.Arrears Reports" /batch /sheet 1 /parameter "Please Enter Date Using Format YYYYMMDD" 20060703 /export xls c:\CA_arr
    When we submit this we get a window prompting for the input values. So his is the issue.
    Thanks
    Raman

  • Passing parameters between form portlets on two different pages ...

    Here is a brief summary of our problem.
    We have one master form and a detail form which are published as portlets and placed in two different pages.
    Now i want to pass parameters from master form portlet resides on one page to detail form portlet resides on another page.
    Say for example, when i invoke master form (created based on demo DEPT table), enter values on fields then invoke another page
    on which the second form portlet (say form based on EMP demo table) resides. Now i want to pass deptno to second form and
    get displayed in deptno field of second form.
    I was looking at the following posting, but how to do this when forms are published as portlets and placed on two different pages ?
    http://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jsp?id=997683
    Customer actually want to pass a parameter from master form to 5 detail form portlets resides on different pages.
    This is bit urgent as it is the only problem stopping the customer go live.
    Thanks in advance.

    Please refer to post Re: session state security
    It tells you how to populate a form portlet in a page by clicking on a link in a report portlet.
    You can use the wwsto_api_session objects to store data submitted by the master and let the detail form pick it up and proceed with the query.
