JSF JSP : Graph Component is always rendered.

On my JSF Jsp page i am displaying the Grpah.Now the issue i am facing is if i have one chart and one table in one form , the form is always displayed first then table even if the table is drawn first in design time. IS there any way to Hide the graph Because this component does not have the rendered property.
I want to render the graph conditionaly.Also Is it possible to change the graph type dynamically ie on selection of any radio button. I can get the handle of button in my Backing Bean.
I tried to put the graph in Form PanelBorder as well as in table and set the rendered property to false but still the graph is showing.
Please help us....Pleas point us to some sample examples where thsi kind of scnario is done.

Thanks Frank. It worked. Can we change the graph type dynamically....Like if it is Pie chart and we want change it to Line chart Dynamically on click of any button.Because i can see only the VO association in my jsp page.

ADF graph component rendering issues

The ADF based application that we are developing requires the use of gauge component to display in data graphical representation. After it is being rendered, we have found that the graph displayed has following issues with different test scenarios..
Let me explain the issues as following..
1. Incorrect scaling along Y-axis when the max value is set to 2 and min value 0 and value 2. The graph scaling generated as(0, 0, 1, 2, 2). I would like to mention that data passed to graph are at runtime and this is one of the specific case when I have wrong representaion on the graph. 2. When the scaling is above 1000 along Y-axis, the min value(i.e "0") is at the same level as the starting position of histogram bar but in case if it less than min value of scaling is bit up from the starting position the histogram bar.

Hi Luis,
It is possibel to sue DVT Graph in a Java client application. For documentation, you would have to use DVT Javadoc to call java methods on oracle.dss.graph.Graph class.

JSF Design View broken? Fallback Rendering, "Render Kit" not found

Hi,
I just wanted to toy around with JDeveloper 11g TP3, created a new project, added technology scope JSF (+ JSP/Servlets, etc.) then the tag-library ADF Faces Component 11-ji3.
Then I created a data control from a POJO and wanted to visualize this within a JSF page. So I created one (via faces-config visual editor), dragged the appropriate getter-method to the page in the up-to-this-point working WYSIWYG editor, selected ADF-read-only-form and suddenly found myself in the JSF "alternate rendering" (a view like in an hierachical XML editor). I enabled "design time messages in log" to see what the problem was.
Stopping/Starting JDeveloper or removing tag libraries like suggested in other threads did not work. I was unable to reactivate the wysiwyg editor for this page or any new JSF page in this application, always the "alternate rendering".
Log said "oracle.sql.OraData" was missing, so I added ojdbc6.jar to the project classpath. Didn't help, no wysiwyg editor, log now says:

I have this error even for newly created (ie blank/HelloWorld) JSF pages in my application. I started adding some libraries, but nothing helped. How do I reactivate the wysiwyg editor?

thanks for the reply. I will try what you suggested, but the trinidad-config.xml is actually not missing in my project, although it does not include a render kit definition.
As my first step with 11g I also tried one of the tutorials (http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/ejb/ejb.html) and there the wysiwyg was working nicely the whole time.
In both cases (my project == not working wysiwyg editor, tutorial == nicely working wysiwyg editor) the content of the trinidad-config.xml is the same:

My problem is this...in the raw HTML the <td></td> tag is not formatted nicely on my table output. I have lines around my entire table and each cell within it. When the <td></td> prints there are no lines. I am new to the JSF table data component, but if I were writing some JSP or servlet code I would check that if value was null I would append an &nbsp to the <td> tag (ex. <td>&nbsp</td>) and the table would be formatted properly. The backing bean that I am binding to is pulling the data from a database table...so my sql looks like this:
SELECT uclass, ue1, ue2 from table1; my problem is when ue1 or ue2 is a null value.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

the h:dataTable belongs to the JSF Reference Implementation from Sun, not to Oracle ADF Faces. The rendering is within this component set and I suggest to report your issue on one of the SUN forums (http://forum.java.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=427) as we have no handle to e.g. fix an issue if it exists in the component set.

Methodaology to use a commom JSF/JSP page for both PDA and PC Browser

I am planing to write an application that should work on both PDA(Windows CE 4.2 Client) and PC(Desktop).I choosed JSF as it supports Rendering.Is there any methodology so that i can use a common JSF/JSP for both the client.
As the PDA browser space constrint i can not use the same page for both.
One way as i know is Conditional Component display whre there are ceparate components for PDA & PC ..But i need a methadology where in i can use same component for both PDA & PC .
I came to know about the XML rendering capability of JSF can this be used?..
can anybody please hep me in this regard.

Firefox Mobile sends "Android" in its browser identification. If the site is checking for that, then you should get a mobile page. If the site requires more, e.g., Chrome, Webkit, or some other text, then that's a problem because Firefox doesn't use those terms. With server-based redirection, you cannot see what the site is checking for.
For testing, or to work around sites not knowing about Firefox Mobile, you could try the Phony extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/mobile/addon/phony/

Session in JSF JSP page

I am using JSF JSP pages. One such page is login.jsp I have backing object backing_login
On successful login, listUser.jsp page is displayed. In this page, I have a HTML --- Commons Hyperlink component as follows.

Now the question:---
I do get to know the UserType in the backing_login object (either 'cma' or 'ea').
Now, if it is cma I want the above link tobe dispalyed in listUser.jsp else DO NOT display the link.
How can I do that ? I dont know, how to pass UserType information available in baking_login to the listUser.jsp and
second, how can conditionally use that info to either hide or display that hyperlink ?

You can use an ADF Faces link component and condition the display attribute for it on the value of your backing bean

I am having doubt regarding JSF Third party component like Jmaki ,MyFaces or something like that . How the third party component match with JSF life cycle even though there is no java classes for managing and rendering the Third party component . what i basically mean to say is if we use <h:inputText> in our JSF page , the inputText component will managed by many java class like UIInput.class and HtmlInputText and InputTextRender and so on. next if we use dojo.dropdowndatepicker ,there is component for managing this component like UIDate, HtmlData .
could you tell me how third party component working without any problem.

If you look in the jar files for the libraries, you will find a faces-config.xml file containing such configurations.

Strategy for integrating JSF/JSP with EJB?

Both JSF/JSP and EJB seem to be developing independently of each other. What is a good strategy for integrating them? I'm not sure how access my entity/session beans from my web pages.

Follow the MVC architecture. Don't access EJB's from JSF/JSP pages. Here are some basic rules to follow.
1) never put java code in JSP's. JSP's are for viewing data only. They should never contain business logic nor be tied to the business tier.
2) JSP's should always send HTTP requests to servlets. Use the servlets to control the flow of the application and make decisions on which JSP should be returned to the client. Make calls to the EJB's from the servlet to perform business logic.

How to get underlying ViewRow from a selected Graph Component

I have a bar graph using a view object as the data source. If a specific bar is mouse-clicked, I am retrieving the series, group, and value, per the BI Beans
team's earlier suggestions. Is there a straightforward way to retrieve a specific row from the view object, based on the selected graph component? I looked at the API's
for the DataAccess, GraphModel, and DataView interfaces, but did not see a 'convenient' getter method. I know I could do it with a getByPrimaryKey (with the selected component's
series data). But I'm hoping there might be an easier way.

You can store the data as shown in the vi, just use the signal data by converting it into the numeric form and give it instead of random data.

At present, i think the best thing to do is to look at the example provided with the struts-faces integration taglib. I don't know any documentation about it.

JSP has an extension facility, called "custom tag libraries", that allows one to write java classes that get exposed to the page author as HTML tags.
JSF uses the JSP custom tag libraries feature to provide HTML tags that represent UI components which page authors can include in their pages. In addition, JSF many features that go far beyond JSP, such as page navigation and better back end integration.

ADF UIX: How to use MessageCheckbox to trigger a component to be rendered?

I have two UIX component:
messageCheckBox model="${bindings.Servicelocal}"

I want messageStyledText to be showed if messageCheckBox was checked.
I want to know how to set the ârenderedâ property of the MessageStyleText.

I think you're on the right track here.
Assuming that the values for Servicelocal are 'Y' and null, what you could do is use EL to define the rendered component as follows:
rendered="${!empty bindings.Servicelocal.inputValue}"
or alternatively:
rendered="${empty bindings.Servicelocal.inputValue ? false : true}"
I'm writing this from home so can't check the above but you get the idea.
Note the use of ".inputValue" to retrieve the actual value of Servicelocal.
I note your use of the <firePartialAction> tag in the <messageCheckBox>. Please note I recently found a bug (I've raised this with Oracle Support) where the <firePartialAction> causes the running page to ignore any user input for some seconds (5 sec?) when fired from a <messageCheckBox>. Your mileage may vary.

Create jsf jsp page / page implementation / third option is not visible

The third option (check box) for page implementation settings in the create jsf jsp page is not visible. The window is not resizable.

I see the option radio button and text "Automatically Expose UI Components in an Existing Managed Bean" that is disabled but i see only partially the label what is a disabled input text field i suppose just below the radio button.
I see also the Directory input field and Browse button a little bit truncated at the bottom (1-2 pixels missing).
I see also the Render in Mobile Device check box and combo box ... cutted by the half when i expand the page implementation part.
As said the window is not resizable.
Let me know a location i can send you a hard copy of the screen.

'session' is undefined - javascript error in my JSF/JSP page

I have the following JSF/JSP page. In onLoad() I invoke a javascript function func(). In this method, I attempt to lookup an attribute from the Http Session. When I run my application, my page is loaded with but the icon on the lower left corner of the browser indicated that there was an error. When I viewed the error, it read : 'session' is undefined.
The 'session' variable is available in a JSP page.
So why does my code not work from within a JSF application.

Because :
Session.getAtrribute is java-code that can only run on the server
and
var y = session.getAttribute is javascript-code run on the client.

Error when compiling JSF JSP

I'm getting the following error when I try to compile an application containing a JSF JSP in JDeveloper 10.1.3. The error is:
Error: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: javax.servlet.jsp.tagext.TagAttributeInfo.<init>(Ljava/lang/String;ZLjava/lang/String;ZZ)V
I've checked the files in the classpath and the TagAttributeInfo class is located in <install>/j2ee/home/lib/servlet.jar. I decompiled the class and it does have a constructor that takes (String, boolean, String, boolean, boolean).
The only change I made between when things worked and now is that I tried to add a JSF JSP that used the ADF classes. But once I started getting this compilation error, I removed the ADF classes from the project, so they shouldn't be causing any problems anymore.
Any ideas what's wrong?

May be that your classpath doesn't include that location ?
Have you tried to put the TagAttributeInfo.class file into your current folder
(or may be in ..\<your_project>\Classes\.. path ) ?
To check if your classpath does actually include your path, you could run:
