JSF popup Window example

Can I get an example code for the following,
When I click a button, I'm calling a data base
procedure,
data base procedure will validate the data,
if there are any errors, the procedure will return an
error message .
I want to show a popup window with the returned error
message,
user should also able to choose "Yes" or "No" on the
pop up window.
I'm looking for the code to show the popup window with
"Yes" and "No" buttons,
when there is some error.
I'm able to make it work by using ,
import javax.swing.JOptionPane;
int k = JOptionPane.showConfirmDialog(JOptionPane.getRootFrame(), errorMessage,"Warning",
JOptionPane.YES_NO_OPTION, JOptionPane.WARNING_MESSAGE);
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(JOptionPane.getRootFrame(), "Please Enter Part Number and Quantity" );
The problem is this is using X-WINDOWS, for secuirity reason we are not running X-WINDOWS on DMZ.
Thanks

inputs = readonly
buttons = disabled
but just check with the api for which components support what
Javascript might be a bit tricker.
So what you want to do is have a javascript method on your form
onsubmit="reutrn checkIsInError()""
then in your checkIsInError function you need to check if the error popup is displayed
multiple ways to do this none of them is great but i guess you can find the popup if it is not rednered then there is no error so reutrn true from
checkIsInError() or you can put hidden components in your page and have their value = the boolean to check for error
more ways to do this but it starts to become a hack doing it this way :)

    have a look to Thread:
    Popup Sizing
    As you can see there is not yet a way to set the Popup size.
    You have to find the good combination of fields and length in order to get a nice UI.

  • Popup window in JSF

    Hi All,
    In Java EE Application i have created two JSF pages. When i click a button in first JSF, the second JSF page should appear in a pop up window. Is that possible.
    Let me also know how to add a pop up in JSF.
    Regards,
    Manickka.

    In your case, If you really need a popup window I think that an option that will work is use a h:commandLink:
    - Use the onclick method of the h:commandLink to open a blank new page, with the name for example "blankPopUp".
    - Use a h:commandLink to navigate to the second page. The action method can be used to run a JSF navigation.
    - Use the target method of the command link to point to your window opened via javascript in the onclick event. In this case the target will be "blankPopUp". Then your content returned by the JSF navigation will be rendered in the already opened popup window. Then you will work with two windows, it will be like two tabs in your browser, but in this sample, only one will be a tab and another will be a popup window.
    Sample code:
                <h:commandLink id="openPopUp" value="OPEN POPUP" target="blankPopUp" onclick="window.open('','blankPopUp','status=no,toolbar=no,location=no,menubar=no,resizable,width=1008,height=690,scrollbars,left=100,top=50');" action="#{yourBean.navigateToSecondPage}" />Regards.

  • Error loading JSF page popup window - Cannot find FacesContext

    Hello,
    I am trying to load a popup window from my Visual Web JSF page. The popup window itself will be a Visual Web JSF page also.
    As an example, i have 2 buttons on my original page with jsp tags as follows::
    <webuijsf:button binding="#{Page1.button1}" id="button1" onClick="window.showModelessDialog('./PopupPage.jsp'); return false;"
    style="left: 19px; top: 16px; position: absolute" text="Button"/>
    <webuijsf:button actionExpression="#{Page1.button2_action}" binding="#{Page1.button2}" id="button2"
    onClick="window.showModelessDialog('./PopupPage.jsp');" style="position: absolute; left: 20px; top: 44px" text="Button"/>
    When i click Button1, the popup window appears but will not load the page within the window. I get the following report in the server log:
    StandardWrapperValve[jsp]: PWC1406: Servlet.service() for servlet jsp threw exception
    java.lang.RuntimeException: Cannot find FacesContext
    at javax.faces.webapp.UIComponentClassicTagBase.getFacesContext(UIComponentClassicTagBase.java:1811)
    at javax.faces.webapp.UIComponentClassicTagBase.setJspId(UIComponentClassicTagBase.java:1628)
    at org.apache.jsp.PopupPage_jsp._jspx_meth_f_view_0(PopupPage_jsp.java from :102)
    at org.apache.jsp.PopupPage_jsp._jspService(PopupPage_jsp.java from :77)
    ETC ETC
    If i click Button2 (which does NOT return false in the onclick Script and thus submits the first page) the first attempt fails with the same error, but if i try a second time the popup window displays and loads the page correctly.
    Any solutions would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me crazy :-s

    Cannot find FacesContextThis generally indicates that you invoked a request which points to a JSP page which contains JSF tags, but that the request itself isn't passed through the FacesServlet. Make sure that the request URL is covered by the url-pattern setting of the FacesServlet in the web.xml.

  • Solution: Using Popup Windows in JSF Applications

    URL: http://forum.exadel.com/viewtopic.php?t=559
    This example shows:
    * how to use a client-side script to control a form field rendered by JSF
    * how to launch a popup window and return a result back to the main window
    * how to use the standard JSF Navigation Framework for navigation in a multiple-windows interface environment.

    It works only with latest ( jsf-ri beta ) version. EA4 used to require completely another approach to do the same.
    According to diagnostic message, you have problem with running jsf-ri itself, but now with this example application.
    There is a good test to examine that your environment is ready to work with jsf-ri: jsf-ri is shipped along with demo-components.war example. Try to deploy it. If it works, jsf-popup example should work also.
    Perhaps, your servlet container does not with servlet-mapping like *.jsf . I met this problem couple time when play with standard jsf-ri examples. So, you can try to replace *.jsf with /faces/* and index.jsp should contain <jsp:forward page="faces/pages/inputdata.jsp" /> in this way.
    Finally, I have received several request about working with WSAD 5.1 . It looks like 5.1 does not support jsf-ri applications at all. This is a link that explains the problem: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=427&thread=476773 . If somebody knows the solution let's us know, please.

  • How do I create a printer friendly page in a popup window for a JSF page

    I have a JSF page that displays a table that shows the inventory level of a particular garment style. The table is like a matrix with each row representing a color of the style and each column representing a size of the garment. So the data in the table cell is for the inventory level of a particular color/size combination (e.g. navy blue of medium size ) for the particular style. The page also allows you to dynamically select a warehouse from a dropdown to see the inventory matrix of that warehouse.
    Now everything has been working fine except that the matrix table is not printer-friendly. So we need to have a Print button or link on the page that will generate a popup window that displays the same matrix table in a printer-friendly format (with different style sheet etc.). What is the best way to populate the matrix table in the popup? The data in the matrx table is stored in a hashmap in a InventoryManageBean of session scope.
    Also, shoud I use window.open to get the new window and if so what do I pass in the URL parameter?
    Any advice is appreciated. It would be great if you can include a code sample as I would think someone else must have had this done before.

    Any one please? This is urgent. Thanks a ton!

  • Rendering popup windows in JSF form on demand

    Hello,
    i have a form with a RichFaces menu bar at the top and several other UI components , eg. commandButtons. When a <rich:menuItem> or a <a4j:commandButton> component is clicked, a hidden modal popup window appears for user interaction. At the moment, all JSF files associated with the NetBeans project are downloaded to the client machine.
    In order to reduce network traffic for low bandwidth internet connections, i would like to only download the popup window JSF files from the server to the client if the relevant form UI component is clicked.
    Would anyone suggest a possible method to achieve this please?
    Thanks,
    Mark Weatherill.

    you can open a popup page from commandButton like,
    onclick="window.open('http://www.myapp.com/faces/popup.jsp'); return false;"Use the same faces-managed-bean to input data (on popup page and on the main page). Before closing the popup page you can submit its form to update the model. And after closing the popup page you can refresh the main page. Beware that you might have problems with refreshing in https connection (getting "access is denied" exceptions in jscript)

  • Popup windows are small and cannot be resized in Firefox v31.0. v30.0 and earlier does not have this problem. Example: Hostgator's SmarterMail. XP, 7, 8.1.

    My webmail interface is SmarterMail from Plesk as supplied by Hostgator. When Firefox updated to v31.0, I lost the ability to send mail because the popup windows for "New", "Reply", "Reply All", and "Forward" are too small to enter information and cannot be resized or maximized.
    This problem does not occur with older versions of Firefox (tested 16.0.2, 21.0, 24.0, and 30.0) or with Chrome or Internet Explorer. While I am writing to you from a Windows XP Pro SP3 system, I have also verified the problem under Windows 7 Pro (x64) and Windows 8.1 (x64).
    It's not profile settings, malware, or add-ons. I've tried Firefox Safemode and I've tried "Reset Firefox".
    For the time being the workaround is to disable Firefox updates and downgrade everybody with v31 to v30. Please fix this ASAP. You have lots of people reporting it.

    As a temporary workaround, you can block website scripts from resizing windows. It's a bit of a sledgehammer, but another user who has this problem indicated that it does stop the SmarterMail script from rolling up the window.
    Here's how:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''dom''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the '''dom.disable_window_move_resize''' preference to switch it from false to true.

  • JavaScript Popup Window

    Hi, has anyone done an example where you are at a page, say Page1.jsp that has a text box and a button, when you click on the button a javascript popup window must open(Page2.jsp). Page2.jsp has a text box and a button. The user will enter a value in the text box and when they click the button it must close the popup window and populate the text box on Page1.jsp with the value entered on Page2.jsp.
    Is this possible in JSF, I have tried but it doesn't work. On the popup windoow botton I have javascript code that saves the value in the session, submits the parent page and then closes the popup window.
    On the parent page init, I look for the value saved in the session var and set the textbox's text to it. When I read the value of the text box, it is right but on the screen the value does not show up at all,
    Does anyone have any idea, I can't seem to understand at all what could be wrong here.

    Hi,
    You can use this code:
    1. in the parent form you have a button and a text field named "textCallClass".
    2. in the popup window you have listbox and a button.
    When the button on the popup window is clicked, the selected list item is returned.
    In you popup window, button on_click :
                        <script>
                            function handleOK() {
                                var myform      = document.forms[0];
                                var listControl = myform['form1:listboxID'];
                                var openerField = window.opener.document.getElementById("form1:textCallClass");
                                if (listControl.selectedIndex == -1) {
                                    alert ("Please select an item from the list !");
                                    return false;
                                else {
                                    openerField.value = listControl.options[listControl.selectedIndex].value;
                                    window.close();
                        </script>In the parent form, button on_click:
                            function handleCallClassPopup() {
                                window.open("CallClassLookup.jsp", "Lookup", "width=250,height=300");
                            }A better way is to use the SessionBean to store and retrieve the data.

  • JDeveloper popup window using ADF Faces

    Has anyone actually managed to get a popup window working properly using ADF Faces? I have slavishly copied examples from the Developer's Guide, but nothing works - I never get a popup window appearing.

    I'm back again and unfortunately I haven't got this to work. I've scaled down my jsp to just include enough to test the pop-up functionality.
    First here's the code from my jsp page(index.jsp):
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
    "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <%@ taglib uri="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/html" prefix="afh"%>
    <!-- import tag libraries -->
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces" prefix="af" %>
    <f:view>
    <afh:html>
    <afh:head title="JSF Test Pop-up Page">
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"/>
    <meta name="MSSmartTagsPreventParsing" content="true"/>
    </afh:head>
    <afh:body>
    <af:commandLink text="Test Pop-up" action="dialog:test" useWindow="true"/>
    </afh:body>
    </afh:html>
    </f:view>
    and here's a copy of faces-config.xml:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252"?>
    <!DOCTYPE faces-config PUBLIC
    "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD JavaServer Faces Config 1.1//EN"
    "http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-facesconfig_1_1.dtd">
    <faces-config xmlns="http://java.sun.com/JSF/Configuration">
    <application>
    <default-render-kit-id>oracle.adf.core</default-render-kit-id>
    </application>
    <!-- Navigation Rules -->
    <navigation-rule>
    <from-view-id>/index.jsp</from-view-id>
    <navigation-case>
    <from-outcome>dialog:test</from-outcome>
    <to-view-id>/results.jsp</to-view-id>
    </navigation-case>
    </navigation-rule>
    </faces-config>
    According to the docs on ADF Dialog Framework this is all I need to have in place in order for it to work. What am I missing?
    Thanks again to all replies.

  • CommandLink driven popup windows

    Hi all,
    How does one initiate a popup window consistent with the JSF navigation scheme using a commandLink?
    I've taken a look through this example (http://forum.exadel.com/viewtopic.php?t=559 : good example, however uses commandButton). I've tried to modify the example to serve me needs however I still seem to be having issues.
    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

    I have implemented this using javascript, I generate a flash file
    representation of the number of dumps in a system.
    I call the page with a parameter called 'dump'.
    <f:view>
    <c:set var="dump" value="${param['dump']}"/>
    <h:form id="graphForm">
    <input type="hidden" value="<c:out value='${dump}'/>" name="dump"/>
    <h:commandLink id="dumpGraph" action="#{dumpHistoryGraphAction.createGraph}" value="" immediate="true"><f:verbatim></f:verbatim>
    </h:commandLink>
    </h:form>
    <script>showGraphData(this,'graphForm','dumpGraph');</script>
    </f:view>
    You need a javascript file with:
    function showGraphData(action, form, target) {
    features="height=400,width=580,status=yes,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,scrollbars=no";
    hform=document.forms[form]; // reference to the hidden form
    document.getElementById(form+':'+target).click();
    // Submit the hidden form. The output will be sent to the current window.
    hform.submit();
    I hope it helps.

  • How to get the values from popup window to mainwindow

    HI all,
       I want to get the details from popup window.
          i have three input fields and one search button in my main window. when i click search button it should display popup window.whenever i click on selected row of the popup window table ,values should be visible in my main window input fields.(normal tables)
       now i am able to display popup window with values.How to get the values from popup window now.
       I can anybody explain me clearly.
    Thanks&Regards
    kranthi

    Hi Kranthi,
    Every webdynpro component has a global controller called the component controller which is visible to all other controllers within the component.So whenever you want to share some data in between 2 different views you can just make it a point to use the component controller's context for the same. For your requirement (within your popups view context) you will have have to copy the component controllers context to your view. You then will have to (programmatically) fill this context with your desired data in this popup view. You can then be able to read this context from whichever view you want. I hope that this would have made it clear for you. Am also giving you an [example|http://****************/Tutorials/WebDynproABAP/Modalbox/page1.htm] which you can go through which would give you a perfect understanding of all this. In this example the user has an input field in the main view. The user enters a customer number & presses on a pushbutton. The corresponding sales orders are then displayed in a popup window for the user. The user can then select any sales order & press on a button in the popup. These values would then get copied to the table in the main view.

    Uday

  • Custom pushbutton in ME21N should display a popup window with item details

    Hello,,
    The requirement is to
    1. Add a custom pushbutton in ME21N screen at header level.
    2. The user will select some PO line items and will click on this push button.
        This inturn should trigger a popup window with item details only for those selected PO line items along with schedule line qty.
    I have created the custom push button in a custom tab using the BADI ME_GUI_PO_CUST.
    Now I am not able to retrieve item details and schedule line details inside the PAI of the custom tab..
    i.e., when i click on the custom push button, I am not able to retrive the item data and schedule line data.
    Please help me to retrive PO line item data and schedule line data.
    Regards,
    Sharah

    JSF is not so relevant in this question. It's all about how the generated client side code look like. Which is usually a bunch of HTML/CSS/JS (open page in browser, rightclick and view source). If you know HTML, you should know that using target="_blank" in a <form> or <a> element would open a new window. If you know JS, you should know that using window.open() would open a new window.
    Apply this so in the JSF source code so that the generated HTML/JS output is exactly what you want.

  • In MVC, do i need a View or Page with flow logic for POPUP window

    Hi All,
    I have the below scenario using the MVC pattern.
    I have a main view with 3 trays, each tray has two buttons, for example first tray has Create Order button. When I click on this button, I need a popup window to come with a tableview and a button(Create), where I select some rows and click on the button Create  to create order.
    But as per the MVC pattern I canu2019t call the view (popup) from another view(main view).  So should I create a VIEW or PAGE WITH FLOW LOGIC for the popup? .
    I need 6 popup to be called from the main view and once the function is done close the popup.
    Please suggest me the flow for this scenario.
    Cheers,
    Srini.

    Srini,
    1. You can call the view in pop-up because you will be calling the controller using open.window.
    Here is the sample code:
    method DO_REQUEST .
      data:
            li_vw           type ref to   if_bsp_page,
            lv_form_field   type          string,
            li_md           type ref to   zcl_model01.
      dispatch_input( ).
      li_md ?= get_model( 'm01' ).
      lv_form_field = request->get_form_field( 'invoice_create' ).
      if lv_form_field is initial.
    *------ Request to display main page
        li_vw = create_view( view_name = 'main.htm' ).
        li_vw->set_attribute( name = 'model' value = li_md ).
        call_view( li_vw ).
      elseif lv_form_field eq 'true'.
    *------ Request to display Invoice page in pop-up
        li_vw = create_view( view_name = 'invoice.htm' ).
        li_vw->set_attribute( name = 'model' value = li_md ).
        call_view( li_vw ).
      endif.
    endmethod.
    Layout:
          function do_Invoice()
          { var s=0; r=1; w=300; h=300; x=screen.width/2;
            x=x-w/2;
            var y=screen.height/4;
            y=y-h/2;
            popUp=window.open('main.do?invoice_create=true','win','width='+ w
            +',height='+ h +', left=' + x +',top='+ y +');
    Option2:
    Ofcourse you can't bind the model in page becos those are 2 different things. But all you need to do is access the model to get some value. To know how to access the model from Page w/flow logic look at [this link|Passing model reference to a page in a Popup].
