Passing values between jsp and php
hi there, is it possible to pass values between jsp and
php? i really need to find out the way if there is
any. thanks in advance
-azali-Yes, there are a few ways to do this.
1) Think about using Cookies.
2) Maybe use a Redirect passing the values in the Query string.
3) Retain the data in a repository in the back end.
4) Using Hidden fields within your pages.
I am sure you can use these Idea's for a base to develop other methods on how to pass values back and forth from JSP -> PHP and vice versa.

Am I being an idiot or is there ever a reason for
using JSP over PHP?A very large number of people have chosen to write their websites (or at least the user interface part) in JSP. They can't all be idiots. -

SSI and PHP together - how?
When using server side includes, an extension of SHTML is
used. When
using PHP an extension of PHP is used.
Can you perform an SSI within a PHP page? What extension to
you use? Or,
isn't there a php command to do ssi within php?
Is this right?
<?php
virtual ("/IncludeFile.shtml");
?>
Thanks,

JSP ASP PHP (and others)
Does anyone know how many projects are implementing JSPs in comparison to those using .asp (and others)? I was just curious.. There's an "unfair" (I think) comparison (March 2002) here http://php.weblogs.com/popularity
.ASP being the widest used. I think .jsp and .php are somewhere close to each other in the amount of projects out there.
Hope this helps -
What is the difference, if any, between the abilities of JSP and PHP.
Too many different technologies competing in the same space makes my head spin..PHP is more for dynamic content
in websites, while JSP's and servlets are used in
webbased applications built on top of Java.I disagree. If you use JSP tags, it's quite dynamic.
One difference I'd like to point out is that JSP is based on Java and HTML, which are existing technologies you may already know. PHP is something new and you'd have to learn a new language/syntax. To me that's a real turn-off and I probably won't be using PHP anytime soon. I already use several languages and dozens of API's. -
Apache and PHP not working together
Hey all,
Ok, I reinstalled my server yesterday and followed the LAMP wiki to set up Apache, MySQL, and PHP. Now, I got Apache and MySql working great, but when I go to directory that has a .php file to open, my brower is asking me what application I want to open with the file.
I have set up this to handle the docuemtns:
DirectoryIndex index.php index.phtml index.html
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps
and still no go.
Anyone got this to work?
Thanks!!!

Yeah, I checked and the path is correct...
Maybe I should just reinstall it?

Hi:
I just read <b>John Coggeshall</b> blog...And gotta say..."Woaw, it blows my mind" -:D
I have been an ABAP Consultant for 3 years and a very active PHP developer for more than 1 year. Actually...and sorry if anyone disagress...I hate Java and also hate JSP...I was glad when i read about BSP (Which i'm planning to learn)...But when i read that SAP and PHP can be mixed together...it was like a dream come true.
As soon as i can, i'm going to set up my SAPRFC. And hope i can make some contributions to the community.
Thanks SAP and Zend...For letting me create SAP Web Services without Java stuff -:)
Greetings,
Alvaro Tejada Galindo
ABAP Consultant
ActualiSap ConsultoresSorry for my long time away...I have been pretty busy...
Anyway...a few day ago, i managed to get all my PHP-to-SAP connection...And damn...I gotta say...i really get shocked...It's amazing what you can do, and how easy you can do it -:D
I just have made two simple examples, but those we're enough to make me happy...I use RFC_READ_TABLE and RFC_READ_REPORT.
I actually want to make some SM30 simulation...so as soon as get some demo version, i going to post it, or write a blog about it -;) Some time ago, i made something like that using PHP and MySQL...So i don't think it's going to be that hard...Anyway...I should show all the Abapers out there that PHP is a great programming language too and by mixing PHP and SAP...you can get a killer tool -;)
Greetings,

Compiling Apache 2.2 and php 5.2 from source on Arch
Hi there
Wanting to compile Apache 2 with PHP 5 on my Arch server. I figure this must be frequently done by people out there wanting more control over how their servers are setup, and was wondering if anyone had some good documentation for this? If none exists I'm keen to work on putting it up on the Arch Wiki.
I've compiled apache httpd-2.2.16 from source already, and have it running nicely.
Apache compile options were:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache \
--enable-rewrite --enable-ssl --enable-so \
--enable-mime-magic --enable-suexec \
--enable-static-rotatelogs \
--disable-imap --disable-userdir --enable-cgi \
--disable-dav \
--disable-proxy-connect --disable-proxy-ftp --disable-proxy-http --disable-proxy \
--disable-authnz-ldap
$ /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -Vvv
Server version: Apache/2.2.16 (Unix)
Server built: Sep 6 2010 06:10:41
Server's Module Magic Number: 20051115:24
Server loaded: APR 1.4.2, APR-Util 1.3.9
Compiled using: APR 1.4.2, APR-Util 1.3.9
Architecture: 32-bit
Server MPM: Prefork
threaded: no
forked: yes (variable process count)
Server compiled with....
-D APACHE_MPM_DIR="server/mpm/prefork"
-D APR_HAS_SENDFILE
-D APR_HAS_MMAP
-D APR_HAVE_IPV6 (IPv4-mapped addresses enabled)
-D APR_USE_SYSVSEM_SERIALIZE
-D APR_USE_PTHREAD_SERIALIZE
-D SINGLE_LISTEN_UNSERIALIZED_ACCEPT
-D APR_HAS_OTHER_CHILD
-D AP_HAVE_RELIABLE_PIPED_LOGS
-D DYNAMIC_MODULE_LIMIT=128
-D HTTPD_ROOT="/usr/local/apache"
-D SUEXEC_BIN="/usr/local/apache/bin/suexec"
-D DEFAULT_PIDLOG="logs/httpd.pid"
-D DEFAULT_SCOREBOARD="logs/apache_runtime_status"
-D DEFAULT_LOCKFILE="logs/accept.lock"
-D DEFAULT_ERRORLOG="logs/error_log"
-D AP_TYPES_CONFIG_FILE="conf/mime.types"
-D SERVER_CONFIG_FILE="conf/httpd.conf"
Now installing PHP from source is proving to not work out so easily.

Have tried to make Apache execute php bin via CGI without any luck, but I think I'd rather work on compiling PHP into a module properly.
Any help or pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

In /usr/local/apache/modules I get:
libphp5.a libphp5.la
No libphp5.so yet but closer.. Also looking at how I can use ABS just to compile php. -

In Dreamweaver MySites[New Site] menu option , if I had a hosting JSP/PHP what I must declare the hosting JSP or PHP ?
The simplest answer is to choose the language you work best with, and that fits the clients specification the best.
I have mixed server languages on a site before, (would not recommend) when a client has decided they wish to change from their old one to a new(er) /different one, the only thing you must watch if doing this, is that you do not mix languages on the same page (will not work correctly, if at all), and parameter passing.

Folks,
My apologies if this is off-topic for this forum, but I've been having this problem using Tomcat and JSP. I'm fairly new to Java.
Basically, I'm writing a webapp that uses servlets and JSP together. The servlet and backend classes all compile fine. Now, basic frontend page is called Console.jsp, and one of the commands that it runs is <%@ page import="DJUser">
Here's the problem: Console.jsp is in $CATALINA_HOME/webapp/
DJUser (and the rest of the classes I'm using) are in $CATALINA_HOME/webapp/WEB-INF/classes
When I attempt to run Console.jsp I get this error:

I'm running Tomcat 5.5.12 on Mac OS X 10.4. Could this be a permissions issue somehow? For right now (testing purposes only) I have tomcat running under my (non root) account.
I've been scouring the web for a while, and I can't really find anything on this. I'd appreciate any help you could give me.
Thanks!
DylanPut the DJUser java file in a package (say com.myClasses) and recompile. Then put the DJUser class file under the WEB-INF/classes directory in the proper package structure (WEB-INF/classes/com/myClasses/DJUser). Stop and restart the server to pick up the new classes. Make sure to change the jsp import statement ( <%@ page import="com.myClasses.DJUser">)

If you want specific help with a specific problem then you should ask a specific question. "help, JSP and SERVLETS" is not a specific question. And you should also note that if your specific question is about Tomcat specifically or Eclipse specifically then you are in the wrong place to begin with.
So do you want to try again?
