JSP Not Working in 10g 10.0.3

Hi All
I just downloaded and installed OC4J 10g (10.0.3). After installing if I try to access http://localhost:8888/ I get the following error
HTTP 500 - Internal server error
Internet Explorer
If I try http://localhost:8888/index.html I get the welcome page. Selecting http://localhost:8888/examples/jsp from the welcome page takes me to the JSP examples but when I try to run any of the JSP examples I still get
HTTP 500 - Internal server error
Internet Explorer
The global-application.log file has the following
03/09/05 12:40:10 defaultWebApp: 10.0.3.0.0 Started
03/09/05 12:40:24 defaultWebApp: JspServlet: unable to dispatch to requested page: Exception:oracle.jsp.provider.JspCompileException:
Errors compiling:C:\oc4j\j2ee\home\application-deployments\default\default-web-app\temp\_pages\\_index.java

I can successfuly run all the servlet exaples but I can't run any of the jsp. I tried OC4J 9.0.3 and I workes great. Can anyone help with this. Thanks in advance.

I am having similar problems. OC4J reports:
03/10/04 21:02:04 Auto-deploying ../../home/applications/admin_ejb.jar (New server version detected)... Error in application default: Error loading package at file:/D:/OC4J10g/j2ee/home/applications/admin_ejb.jar, javac.exe not found under C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_01, please use a valid jdk or specify the location of your java compiler in server.xml using the <java-compiler .../> tag
This is annoying, since I did a standard install of Java SDK 1.4.2, so I would think OC4J should know not to look for the compiler in the runtime directory.
What is the syntax of the java-compiler tag?
All the other tags are specifying relative paths. The jdk home is on a different drive from the OC4J home. How should I specify this path?

• Conditional formatting in the chart does not work after 10g to 11g upgrade

W e have upgraded from 10g to 11.1.1.6.8 recently. For all the reports conditional formatting for charts is not working for us which used to work in 10g.
While researching , i have found that advanced xml needs to be modified. So i changed xml where there is 'untypedLiteral' to 'decimal' and saved the report. Inspite of saving , xml wouldnt change . It still shows as untypedLiteral.
I also tried to delete the conditional format and recreate again. But still it wouldn't work.
Please advise.

• SQl loader is not working in 10g but working in 9i

In My PC i have installed both 9i and 10g. could you please tell me why it is not working

"SQL loader is not working" is rather like "my car won't start" http://tkyte.blogspot.com/2005/06/how-to-ask-questions.html
The 9i Oracle Client install includes sqlldr. The 10g Oracle Client install does NOT include sqlldr. You'd have to do a "Custom" Install and specifically select "Oracle Database Utilities" to install.

Hi,
if you are trying to map a short name to a jsp page, you should do that in the web.xml file not in the server.xml i think...

• JSP Not Working with Thin Driver

My JSP is not working with Oracle thin driver but it is working with Oracle OCI driver.
From my jsp i am calling a stored procedured and passing 170 parameters to the procedure. This JSP works with Oracle OCI Driver configured as thrid party drivers in iAS6.0 SP2, but not working with Oracle Thin Driver configured as third party drivers in iAS6.0. My thin driver JDBC Connection URL is as follows:
jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION =(ADDRESS_LIST =(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = MAPDBI01)(PORT = 1521)))(CONNECT_DATA =(SID = MAPS))).
I have to give this URL because my production server deployment consists of iWS4.1 SP5 and iAS6.0 SP2 in different solaris boxes and Oracle 8.1.7 Database server in another Solaris Box. There is a pool of proxy servers between iAS6.0 box and the oracle box.

Wim,
I'd really appreciate it if you could provide some sample code. A complete, small, simple java class that I could copy and try out would be wonderful -- if it's not too much trouble.
Thanks heaps (in advance :-),
Avi.

• Hyperlink to file in JSP not working

I have a JSP page where I am providing a hyperlink to a file on the C: drive as follows
Try this
Nothing happens when I click this hyperlink.
When I scroll over the hyperlink I see the correct path "file:///C:/ReqImport/data.txt" in the status bar and when paste this path in my address bar, it does open up the file.
Any ideas why this file hyperlink does not work on this JSP page.
Thanks

Hmm, you're right, I just tried it and it doesn't appear to work. It looks like a security thing: If the original page is on my hard drive, links to other files on my hard drive work. But when the original page is on a web server, links to files on my hard drive don't appear to work.
Do you realize that such a link is referring to a file on the C: drive of the client, the user, not the C: drive of the server? I'm not sure what you're up to, but for most applications such a link is pretty much useless, as you normally have no way of knowing what files the user has on his C: drive.

• ODBC Connection Pooling not working with 10g On Windows 2003

I have a bog standard Windows 2003 machine and installed Oracle 10g on it. It seems that the ODBC Connection pooling is not working.
I am using ASP and every time I try and render a simple page it is taking 4-5 seconds which is the time necessaru to create a database connection. ( Machine is 2.8 Ghz Xeon with 2 gigs of Ram)
The following VB Code can be used to test that the pooling is not working. It creates 2 connections to the database. On oracle 10g on windows 2003, it takes 5 seconds to create the first connection, and another 5 seconds to create the second connection.
When you run the same program on windows 2000 and oracle 9, the first connection take 3 seconds, and the second 0.05 seconds. ( The shorter time being due to the connection pooling)
time1=timer()
set conn=createobject("adodb.connection")
Conn.Open "dsn=oracleDSN;uid=yourusername;pwd=yourpassword"
time2=timer()
msgbox time2-time1
conn.close
set conn=nothing
time1=timer()
set conn=createobject("adodb.connection")
Conn.Open "dsn=oracleDSN;uid=yourusername;pwd=yourpassword"
time2=timer()
msgbox time2-time1
conn.close

ODBC Connection Pooling is controlled by the ODBC Driver Manager and defaults to off for every driver on every platform. Have you enabled connection pooling for your driver in the ODBC Data Source Administrator?

• "Next" and "Previous" functionality on UIX tables not working with 10g

With new release of JDeveloper(10G), the "Next" and "Previous" navigation buttons/links on UIX tables are not working. I tried different approaches:
1. It does not work with Data Controls built from Java Beans or from TopLink.
2. I tried without using Data Controls and it still does not work.
I shows "Next" and "Previous" buttons on the page. But it shows all records on the page rather then showing limited records. Say for example if the block size is 5 and total number of records are 15, it shows all 15 records in the table but the "next" and "Previouds" button would say "1-5 of 15".
Did any of you observe the same behaviour?

Hi Shital -
Thanks for the additional info...
When I said that the total number of records is 15, I
meant that my tableData's DataObjectList contains 15
entries. (In case of DataControls you don't even use
DataObjectList, but for my non data control
applications I used DataObjectList). You are saying
that If I want to display only 5 records per page
then I will need to provide a DataObjectList with
five items. Then for next five records from 6-10 I
will have to program in such a way that my method
call returns 6-10 records.That's correct. In the case where you are explicitly providing data to the table via a DataObjectList, you need to feed the data to the table in page size blocks - and you also need to handle the table's goto event to scroll the table to the next/previous block of data.
In previous version of
UIX(2.1.7) I never had to program for next and
previous buttons. UIX tables used to take care of
that. That's why I am so surprised.It sounds like you must have been using the <bc4j:table> component. Is that the case?
Getting back to your original issue...
1. It does not work with Data Controls built
from Java Beans or from TopLink.I believe that this is a bug in the preview release - and I'm fairly sure this will be addressed by production. In production, ADF should automatically handle wiring up table scrolling for you when binding your table to a data control - whether the data control is implemented via JavaBeans, Toplink, or BC4J. I believe that in the preview release, scrolling only working when binding to a BC4J data control.

• Format Trigger not working in 10g Report.

I have a report with two eclipses
(*) Debit (*) Credit . Please note that the two asterics denotes eclipses.
I have a format triggers on these eclipses based on the database item Debit_credit.
IF :debit_credit = 'CREDIT' THEN
RETURN FALSE;
ELSE
RETURN TRUE;
End if;
and vis-visa. However the format trigger is not working. Regardless of the value of
debit_credit. I even created a frame around these eclipses and put my format trigger all to no avail. Please help.

Create a boilerplate text in your repeating frame (get rid of the field :debit_credit from your layout, but leave it in your query). I created the boilerplate field B_1. My format trigger looks like:
function B_1FormatTrigger return boolean is
begin
if upper(:debit_credit) = 'CREDIT' then
srw.set_field(0, to_char('(*) CREDIT'));
else srw.set_field(0, to_char('(*) DEBIT'));
end if;
return (TRUE);
end;I hope I understood your question OK...I am not sure what an eclipses is?

• Forms 6i & SRW.Run_Report does not work on 10g client

Hello Sir/Madam,
I'm using 10g client with Forms & Reports 6i.
FORMS 6i error => for some reason this combination is prompting FRM-10102 & FRM-40039 errors
Attempted so far => attached the library, complied, it compiles ok, but somehow loses the library file at runtime
Reports 6i issue => for Reports seems like it does not recognize SRW.Run_report built-in
Attempted to run without "srw.run_report" it works..
Please help me understand if any necessary "*.dll" files are missing? if so what might that be?
Regards,
Vani Sonti

When you install Forms and Reports 6i, the correct Oracle client (8) is installed. I don't know what you did exactly, but you shouldn't try to change that.
You can install the 10g client, but in a separate Oracle home. This way Forms and Reports still use the 8 client.
FRM-10102 & FRM-40039 errorsThat looks like a problem in your forms60_path registry setting.

Yeah ..This is my final project for my masters degree.
I'm integrating BPEL with GIS(Geographic Information System) webservices provided by ESRI(Arcweb services). My main BPEL process that I built follows this sample example. The problem is that I need to show a working client application within 2 days or else my project is termed as incomplete and my graduation will be postponed to next semester. :(
I tried your advice, as soon as I add a Java code to my BPEL process, the application is taking longer time to execute in the BPEL console itself.
<bpelx:exec xmlns:bpelx="http://schemas.oracle.com/bpel/extension" language="java" version="1.4" name="exec-1">
setConversationId("output");
</bpelx:exec>
So after the thread sleep the webservice is not ready to give its output.
Just a quick thought, I assumed that if I attach the output of the my Invoke(Client) to a Reply activity,which will make it a two way operation.
Then I could use,
NormalizedMessage res = deliveryService.request("SpatialQuery", "initiate", nm);
will work.
I assigned the ouput of the Invoke(Client) to the variable in Reply activity.
But my reply activity is throwing a NULL pointer exception.
This is my BPEL code:
<sequence name="main">
<receive name="receiveInput" partnerLink="client" portType="tns:InvokeTest" operation="initiate" variable="input" createInstance="yes"/>
<assign name="assign-1">

</assign>
