JSP Primer for OC4J
1) Has the tag libraries and references been published yet
as per the qustion on this ref:
http://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jsp?id=502762
2) You have a major problem with your samples in the JSP
Primer for OC4J. Reference pg 1-15 sqltagquery.jsp is
non functional. I will assume the output of this is
displayed on page 1-18. ref:
http://web06-02.us.oracle.com/tech/java/oc4j/pdf/jspPrV1.pdf
Error I found.
a) how can it even output when there where no
methods to query the result and print them? All this
has is dbQuery and dbClose tags.
b) I get an exception error, missing catch on line
143 __ej2e(i didnt get to right the spelling correctly
as i was doing my test last night). The
sqptagquery.jsp is only 17 lines and referring to line
143? I assume its on one of the libraries mentioned
to be put under j2ee/home/lib.
3)Further question,
Which version of OJSP is assumed on this sample?
I choosed the osjp_11320.zip.

gday Barry -
I'll check into this for you. The various doc pieces we have for OC4J are all in the process of being being created and we're pushing completed pieces out whenever they are ready.
This might be one of those situation where we've 'forward declared' the docs you mentioned but they're not completed yet.
I'll post back here when I get an answer for you.
cheers!

Barry,
The docs you mentioned are in the final phase of review. They wiil be posted soon. thanks

Hi,
I'm not sure this is the correct place for this question. But here it goes:
Is there an Wiki engine that is designed especially for oc4j? or does any of you have and wiki engine that works on oc4j?We don't have one specifically designed for OC4J but there are several I have seen running it:
- Confluence - we are using/evaluating this a little internally for some projects at Oracle. It is a commercial offering here: http://www.atlassian.com/software/confluence/. Seems very high quality.
- Yawiki (Java version, not PHP) - we are shipping this as a free pre-certified Wiki with WebCenter, our interaction platform ala Portal for ADF developers. http://yawiki.jzonic.org/page/show.jz - we didn't want to force a commercial license on our WebCenter customers so this one is a free, reasonably solid engine.
- JSPWiki - http://www.jspwiki.org/Wiki.jsp - again I have seen this used internally at Oracle and it is running on OC4J. Again, works like a champ.
Some ideas - hope one of them works for you - hard for me to say good or bad about any as they all seem to work fine though I haven't mucked administratively with any.

Issues with deploying BC4J/JSP applications on OC4J
To everyone who's been having problems deploying BC4J/JSP applications to OC4J.
We are aware that you're having problems deploying to OC4J, and we're working on them. OC4J was not available in time for us to add support for OC4J deployment to the JDeveloper 3.2.3 release. In addition there are some bugs in the first release of OC4J that have an impact on BC4J applications. This note describes the issues, and how we plan to address them.
Issue 1: Classpath problems
People have been getting "class not found" or "properties file not found" errors when they try to run their JSP. The answer is to make sure that all relevant archives and your JSP's .properties file are in the OC4J classpath - there's a note addressing the .properties file problem at http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum99/HTML/000028.html. In general though, setting up the classpath can be tricky.
Issue 2: JSP TAG NOT RELEASED ON END TAG. SAME TAG IS REUSED.
This issue affects JSP pages whose behaviour relies on a tag instance being cleaned up as a result of release() being called.
Your tag will not be released, and subsequent instances of the tag will reuse the first instance, rather than instantiating a new
one.
Issue 3:JSP SCRIPTABLE VARIABLE NULL
A scriptable variable set in a tag cannot be accessed by a scriptlet. For example, this JSP code will throw a
NullPointerException, because the scriptlet cannot access the value of resultRow:
<jbo:Row id="resultRow" action="CURRENT" datasource="customer_vo1" />
<%
session.putValue("FIRSTNAME", resultRow.getAttribute("Firstname").toString());
%>Workaround: Add a line of code at the beginning of the scriptlet to explicitly get the variable's value from the page context, for
example:
<jbo:Row id="resultRow" action="CURRENT" datasource="customer_vo1" />
<%
resultRow = (oracle.jbo.Row)pageContext.findAttribute("resultRow");
session.putValue("FIRSTNAME", resultRow.getAttribute("Firstname").toString());
%>
What we plan to do
To address issue 1, we're currently testing a utility that installs the BC4J runtime libraries to OC4J, and provides a script to start OC4J with the correct classpath. We plan to post this by the end of this week, along with instructions for deploying a BC4J application to OC4J; deployment will be a lot simpler after running the utility.
To address issues 2 and 3, we're working on a second utility that installs BC4J runtime and provides a fix to the JSP compiler. We plan to post this second utility by the end of next week.
We do apologise for the problems you're having; please bear with us as we work on making it easier for you to deploy BC4J applications to OC4J.
Thanks
BlaiseHi, I have been trying desparately to deploy
a simple example JDeveloper application for months and months.
I HAVE NEVER BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN DEPLOYING ANYTHING.
I don't know much about webservers and I am relying
on the instructions from JDeveloper help and this website.
I have already tried Apache, and WebLogic
because there are instructions in the JDev help.
No luck.
Now I am trying to use OC4J on 9ias because there are instructions.
I have read the instructions about how to install a BC4J
app on OC4J about 25 times, but I can't get this thing to work.
It works fine inside of JDeveloper.
I create a BC4J project using the scott
schema (just the dept and emp tables).
Then I create an empty project for my JSP client.
I choose JSP Application from the web
objects and it connects to my BC4J project.
As I say, when I run it in JDeveloper, there is no problem.
In the instructions for installing BC4J
in OC4J, it first says install JDev 3.2.3 and OC4J.
This is done, and it tested fine.
Then it says to install the deployment software.
No problem.
But when I deploy the app according to the instructions,
it just hangs (like Rick Wang's program did).
The main.jsp page loads and displays correctly,
but when I click on the links to the DeptView.jsp
or EmpView.jsp it just hangs.
Here is the entire batch file I'm using
to start OC4J: cd c:\oracle_9ias\j2ee\home

The file al_BC4J.jar contains my application.properties file
and my connections.properties file, as well as my business components.
All of the files referenced in my classpath are
present in my c:\oracle_9ias\j2ee\home\lib directory.
I noticed that Raghu's classpath contains a file called jdev.jar
So does the classpath of another fellow who says
he was successful in deployment (his name is Jeffrey Jackson).
I searched my JDev_3.2.3 for this file and found it nowhere.
I also searched my OC4J home and my 9iAS for this file and
found it nowhere.
It is nowhere on my C:\.
Is this file necessary?
I will also try removing my application.properties file
and my connections.properties file from my BC4J .jar file
and put them in a separate .jar file at the root level (as Raghu did).
However, Jeffery Jackson did not do this and says he was
successfull in deployment.
***DO I NEED TO JAR UP ANY OF MY THE FILES FROM the JSP
FOLDER IN JDevHome\myhtml???***
***or place them in the classpath?***
I have read over all of the discussions at: http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum2/HTML/008232.html
and http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum99/HTML/000028.html
many, many times.
Can anyone help me? -
Deploy BC4J/JSP applications on OC4J
I am trying to deploy JDeveloper3.2 BC4J/JSP applications on OC4J. However, I have no lucky at all. My OC4J will hang when I tried to run my JSP applications.
Does this only happen to me? Any suggestion will be appreciated.
nullI've followed the instructions in the "How TO Deploy a BC4J Application to an Oracle9iAS J2EE Container in Local Mode" again. The OC4J still hung. I turn on the -Djbo.debugoutput switch this time. I used the following line to startup the OC4J.
java -Djbo.debugoutput=console -cp C:\oc4j\j2ee\home\orion.jar;
C:\oc4j\j2ee\home\lib\classes12.jar;

How can we add a control on our .jsp webpage for uploading several image fi
How can we add a control on our .jsp webpage for uploading several image files as done in gmail attachment, Where a Remove button also appears if we wanna remove the particular attachment.
The SCOM Management Server is in Domain A. I've tried it already and it has failed.
So just to clarify the method I used was to go to Administration>Security>User Roles. Then New User Role>Read-Only Operator. In the Create User Role Wizard I then gave the User Role a name, Clicked "Add" under User Role Members.
Then the Select Users or Groups window pops up and I changed the Locations from Domain A to Domain B and searched for the user, which it's able to find, then clicked "OK" to add it to the User Role members which it does just fine. On
the next page which is Group Scope I checked the one group I want this account to have access to and then click next. This brings me to Dashboards and Views where I click the radio button for "Only the dashboards and views selected in each tab are
approved" and chose the folder of dashboards I want this account to access and then click next. This brings me to the Summary and I click "Create". At this point it thinks for a moment then closes out the wizard but the new Read-Only
Operator does not appear. I then look in Event Viewer and see the Event I pasted above.
Am I doing something wrong here? Any guidance on how to get around this issue would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

aviyes... u r somewhat right... but this runs on Jakarta Tomcat...
i'm using the Apache Http Server together with the ServletExec AS which enable the Apache server to run JSP..
I've created a package where i've put my classes...
WEB-INF/classes/tbd(package name)/my classes
and i've added.. package name.. in my java program..
and then in jsp... i've written..
<%@ page import="tdb.*"%>
<jsp:useBean id="exec" class="tdb.textdb" />
<%exec.convert_data();%>
but when i run the page it says the package does not exist...
can anyone tell where to place the folder WEB-INF so that it can run fine?

Developing JSP iViews for PCR on R/3 4.6C Backend??
I have read several posts and have looked into a lot of documentation, but there still seems to be some confusion regarding MSS/PCR and EP 6.0.
Here is some background:
We are planning to upgrade our portal from Workplace 2.11 to SAP EP 6.0 (NW04). We have an R/3 4.6C backend and we are using ITS forms for our PCRs.
When we move to the EP 6.0, I see two ways of proceeding:
1. Use IAC iView on ITS and just call our ITS based forms from the EP 6.0. This means we keep our standalone ITS.
OR
2. Develop JSP iViews for our PCR forms on EP 6.0. This way, we would no longer need ITS.
My confusion is whether I can actually do option 2. After upgrading to EP 6.0 and installing the plug in 2003.1, can I develop PCR forms using JSP iView with a R/3 4.6C backend?
Thanks,
YounoosI am not sure anyone can give you specific guarantees regarding development and use of your own custom JSP iviews ITS or otherwise
What I can say is -->
Certainly from a SAP perspective the delivered MSS Business Package 60.1.20 (HTMLB with JSP PCRs) is useable
in the landscape versions you mentioned (46C with EP6) as per following link
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/webcontent/uuid/302ecc07-a56d-2910-8fad-84996151e3b4
Therefore MSS PCRS based on JSP is possible in EP6 with 46C
Its also not clear why your ITS based forms are being abolished - if you back-end remains 46C - then presumably these should
still work - either called directly via ITS URL string given to users or integrated into EP 6 as a ITS iview or Portal HpF service calling ITS URL directly - the only reason I can think is that perhaps your ITS forms has a Workplace 2.11 dependancy or other dependancies I am not aware of.
Best wishes

"...You have to keep jsp files under document root that is OH/j2ee/OC4J_BI_Forms/applications/reports/web directory. You can create sufbolders under this directory and keep jsp files. ..."

Jsp tag for blog attribute in a flex asset
hi Experts,
I am using FW7.6.1, I have a flex asset with a blob attribute, when I create that flex asset, I can upload an image in that attribute, but I did not find a jsp tag for rendering that attribute which has a image saved, another question is what jsp tag should be used in case of a word file is uploaded in that attribute, that's to say:
1. for a image, I want to display it in browser.
2. for a word file, I want to show popup window to ask user if he wants to download or open.
By using assetset:getattributevalues and render:stream, it's just for string type of attribute, not for blog.
Thanks in advance.
Best regardshi all,
I got the answer from dev guide, seems should use:
<blobservice:gettablename varname="uTabname"/>
<blobservice:getidcolumn varname="idColumn"/>
<blobservice:geturlcolumn varname="uColumn"/>
and render:satelliteblob
some complicated then I expected.
Best regards -
Jsp code for image compression
Hai,sir this is surendra i am doing a project using jsp and mysql.
In that each user can put his image and i am storing that image in mysql blob but that results to that database size.
So i need jsp code for image compression or another way for storing images. There's no need to store images in db. You may store them in a dedicated folder.

Hi,
I have several questions regarding this topic:
1) Does Weblogic 5.1 supports Custom Tags ? If so, are there any known
problems ?
2) Does Weblogic come with any tag libraries (for loops, if, etc) and where
can I get them ?
3) Are there any tag libraries out there (JRun, for example) that have been
successfully run on Weblogic ?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Jamie
As there seems to be general interest, a link would probably be a great
help.
Regards
Daniel Hoppe

JAXB 2.0 Support for OC4J 10.1.3.3
http://java2go.blogspot.com/2008/01/jaxb-10-vs-20-in-jdeveloper-10g.html
This blog entry talks about how to get JAXB 2.0 in JDeveloper 10g. I want to know whether JAXB 2.0 is supported or not for OC4J 10.1.3.3, before i start using it in JDeveloper.
Chandresh.Has anyone ever tried using spring web services with oc4j? I tried using JAXB 2.0. But it gives lot of errors while deploying the example.
Operation failed with error: Error creating bean with name 'messageReceiver' defined in class path resource [org/springframework/ws/samples/airline/ws/applicationContext-ws.xml]: Initialization of bean failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'org.springframework.ws.server.endpoint.adapter.GenericMarshallingMethodEndpointAdapter#0': Cannot resolve reference to bean 'marshaller' while setting bean property 'marshaller'; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'marshaller': Invocation of init method failed; nested exception is org.springframework.oxm.jaxb.JaxbSystemException: Provider com.sun.xml.bind.ContextFactory_1_0_1 not found; nested exception is javax.xml.bind.JAXBException: Provider com.sun.xml.bind.ContextFactory_1_0_1 not found - with linked exception: [oracle.classloader.util.AnnotatedClassNotFoundException: Missing class: com.sun.xml.bind.ContextFactory_1_0_1 Dependent class: javax.xml.bind.ContextFinder Loader: oracle.xml:10.1.0_2 Code-Source: /C:/oc4j/lib/xml.jar Configuration: (ignore manifest Class-Path) in META-INF/boot.xml in C:\oc4j\j2ee\home\oc4j.jar This load was initiated at airline.web.airline:0.0.0 using the loadClass() method. The missing class is not available from any code-source or loader in the system.] -
Specifying system properties/security manager for OC4J
I have a couple of related questions regarding OC4J/orion.jar:
1. Generically, how can we specify system properties to orion.jar? Being an executable JAR, simply using -D does not work.
2. Specifically, I need to launch the OC4J app server with a Java security manager (with associated security policies, etc.) Java's way of doing this is via -Djava.security.manager=... but this does not work with executable JARs it seems. I tried specifying these parameters via -D and I got a security exception:
Exception in thread "main" java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.util.PropertyP
rmission java.protocol.handler.pkgs write)
at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(Unknown Source)
at java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.System.setProperty(Unknown Source)
at com.evermind.server.ApplicationServer.initProtocolHandlers(ApplicationServer.java:652)
at com.evermind.server.ApplicationServer.launchCommandline(ApplicationServer.java:319)
at com.evermind.server.ApplicationServer.main(ApplicationServer.java:314)
So, how do I install the Java security manager with orion.jar? Is there any other way to specify system properties to this, or is there any other way to install the Java security manager for OC4J?
Any help much appreciated.
..HrishiThanks, that seemed to work. However it seems that spawned another little problem. I was using the -Xbootclasspath/a option while firing up orion.jar because I needed to append something to OC4J's default classpath (that is specified in orion.jar's Manifest). Now, when I start OC4J with the -D options for the security policy, it seems to ignore the -Xbootclasspath argument. I have not yet been able to confirm this fact, but based on the ClassNotFoundError I'm running into, that does seem to be the problem.
So I guess my question is, could specifying the -D options to the executable JAR cause it to ignore any other options you may be passing to it (such as -Xbootclasspath)? Is there any sequence in which these args need to be passed?
Thanks.
..Hrishi
Hi,
You can try this :
- Check if you have a file java2.policy in <OC4J_HOME>\config\policy and check if the permission java.util.PropertyPermission "read, write" is granted to <OC4J_HOME>.
if there is no file, you can create one based on <JAVA_HOME>\lib\security\java.policy and grant the approriate privileges.
- Launch OC4J :
java -Djava.security.manager -Djava.security.policy=<OC4J_HOME>/config/java2.policy -jar orion.jar
OR java -Djava.security.manager -Djava.security.policy=<PATH_TO_FILE_POLICY>/<YOUR_FILE>.policy -jar orion.jar

Installing BPEL PM 10.1.2.0.2 for OC4J Developers on AIX
Hi
I'm trying to install BPEL PM 10.1.2.0.2 for OC4J Developers on AIX. I downloaded the as_aix5l_power_bpel_101202.cpio and ran the "./runInstaller" from the "bpel_oc4j" directory. As per the installation instructions(it did not specifically have instructions for AIX, only Windows and Unix), i should get a screen in which i can choose the Type of Installation as "BPEL Process Manager for Developers", but this option never showed up, instead after accepting the path this dialog came up.,
Error :
BPEL Process Manager for OracleAS Middle Tier will run on top of a supported Oracle Application Server 10.1.2 j2ee and Web Cache orPortal and Wireless instance. This location does not contain this instance. Please refer to the installation Guide for supported versions. Please select a new Oracle Home that contains a supported instance.
Has anyone installed the Developer's version of the BPEL PM on AIX?
Or is the download available is actually only for Middletier?
Alll help is appreciated.
Thanks
SamI also have a customer who is running BPEL on AIX / WAS 4.0. He has reported some issues while running some specific Java codes (JDK 1.5). Has anyone faced any issues with BPEL deployed on WAS having issues due to compatibility?
Any help is appreciated. -
