JSP recompilation problem - losing text fragments

Hi,
I'm working on Oracle JDeveloper 10G and Oracle App Server 10G (9.0.4). Have the same problem on both. The following JSP fragment:
<tr<%= (idx.intValue()%2==0)?" class=bg3":"" %> height="30">
is in a loop where idx is incremented by 1. The page compiles and runs fine initially. If it is changed, then OC4J recompiles it resulting that the even rows print properly
<tr class=bg3 height="30">
but the odd rows instead of printing
<tr height="30">
it only prints
height="30">
i.e. doesn't print the "<tr" and the empty string. If the project is re-build in JDeveloper, that fixes the situation. My problem is that now the same happened on the Oracle App Server deployment, and I cannot force it to compile the JSP properly.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Well I found out how to get EL to be ignored:
<%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" isELIgnored="true" %>
but output is now
+hello ${name}+
when before it was
hello
*So the tag is receiving the template text, but it's not evaluating the ${name} parameter.*
Reading the J2EE Tutorial, I don't think I'm doing anything wrong - but I obviously am! anyone shed any light, even a suggestion?
I'm using Tomcat 5.5 and servlet 2.4
"When used to specify a fragment attribute, the body of the jsp:attribute element can contain only static text and standard and custom tags; it cannot contain scripting elements"
"JSP fragments can be parametrized via expression language (EL) variables in the JSP code that composes the fragment. _The EL variables are set by the tag handler, thus allowing the handler to customize the fragment each time it is invoked_"

    Weiguo,
First, Matt is correct, the regular expression tool is perfect for general text
substitution situations, and as a completely independent tool its use is not
restricted to migration situations (or file types for that matter).
Second, I sympathize with the unfortunate trouble you are experiencing due to
Jasper's (perhaps more strict) compilation, but in what way did the iMT
automated translation contribute to these inconsistencies that you cited?
    1. Changed the case of the tag attribute to be the same as what's
    defined in tld.
    example: changed OnClick to onClick
The iMT does not generate any OnClick or onClick clauses per se. In a
translation situation, the only way "OnClick" would have been introduced was if
it had been part of the pre-existing project's "extraHTML" (which was written
by the original customer and just passed through unchanged by the iMT) or if it
was added manually by the post-migration developer.
    2. Removed attributes which are not defined in tld.
example: escape attribute only defined in three tags
but in some pages, it's used although it's not defined as an
    attribute
of certain tags. The jasper compiler doesn't like it.Can you give soem examples? Is there a definite pattern? Again, this might be
similar to the OnClick situation described above?
    3. In an end tag, there can't be any space.
    example: </content > doesn't work. </content> works.
Again, the content tag would never have been generated by the iMT. There was no
equivalent in the NetDynamics world, so any content tags in your code must have
been introduced by your developers manually. Its a shame that jasper is so
particular, but the iMT could not help you out here even if we wanted to. The
constants that are used by the iMT are defined in
com.iplanet.moko.jsp.convert.JspConversionConstants. From what I can see, the
only situation of a closing tag with any space in it is
    public static final String CLOSE_EMPTY_ELEMENT = " />";
But that should not cause the type of problem you are referring to.

    Matt/Mike/Todd,
We are trying to migrate to sp3 right now, but have had a lot of
issues with the new jasper compiler.
The following workaround has been employed to solve the issues:
    1. Changed the case of the tag attribute to be the same as what's
    defined in tld.
    example: changed OnClick to onClick
    2. Removed attributes which are not defined in tld.

of certain tags. The jasper compiler doesn't like it.
    3. In an end tag, there can't be any space.
    example: </content > doesn't work. </content> works.
As I see it, we have two options to go about solving this problem:
    1. Write a script which will iterate through all the jsp files and
call jspc on them. Fix the errors manually when jspc fails. Jspc will
flag the line number where an error occurs.
    2. Write a utility which scans the jsp files and fix the errors when
they are encountered. We should define what's an error and how to
correct it. It's best if we combine this with solution 1 since we
    might miss an error condition.
Actually, there might be another option, which is seeking help from
you guys since you have better understanding of JATO and iAS. Can you
    do anything to help us?
We would be happy to hear your thoughts.
At last, I would like to suggest modifying the moko tool so that
these rules are enforced and the generated JSPs work with the new
compiler. This is for the benefit of any new migration projects.
    Thanks a lot.

Thanks a lot Matt and Mike for your prompt replies.
I agree completely that iMT doesn't introduce the inconsistencies.
About the three cases I mentioned, the third one happens only in
manually created JSPs. So it has nothing to do with iMT. The first
two are mainly due to the existing HTML code, as you rightly pointed
    out.
The reason I made the suggestion is since we know that case 1 and 2
won't pass the japser compiler in sp3, we have to do something about
it. The best place to do this, in my mind, is iMT. Of course, there
might be some twists that make it impossible or difficult to do this
kind of case manipulation or attribute discard.

  • WLS 9.2.2: JSP recompile for every page load with JAR'ed tag files

I have a small custom tag library of three tag files. With the server running in development mode and the tag files in a JAR (included in WEB-INF/lib), the server appears to be doing a JSP recompile on every page load. However, it only compiles on the first page load if the tag files are included in WEB-INF/tags (no JAR). Also, running the server in production mode with the JAR'ed tag files avoids the recompile for every page load.
Is that how the server should behave?
For whatever it's worth, I'm also using Eclipse 3.3.2 with WTP and WebLogic Server Tools 1.1.2. The server is running the Sun JVM (1.5_10).

    Vikram,
I went back and created a simple example to test. Below I'm posting the Java source code generated from the two relevant files: index.jsp, and hello.tag.

  • HTML tool tip on text fragment....how?

I need a tool tip on a piece of text using HTML. I thought below would work when pasted in the HTML snipped widget, but it does not work (everything is fine, just no tool time).
    text fragment
    What would work?
    Thanks
    bob

Bob ~ If your post doesn't look correct in Preview mode, it probably won't look correct when posted. For most HTML to display properly in these forums it has to be "escaped", using this free tool for example:
    http://www.htmlescape.net/htmlescape_tool.html
...then your code fragment will look like this:
<span tooltip="This tool tip is attached to a <span> element that encloses the words "text fragment""> text fragment </span>
As far as solving the problem, I'm not sure, as this solution with URLs:
    http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWeb_Tooltips.html
...may not be what you're looking for.

  • HELP.....!!!!! Chinese jsp compilation problem.....

    Hi,
Could someone please help on the above mentioned?
I'm using JDeveloper 3.2.3 for my program development under Chinese windows platform. I have created a simple JSP page, which contains few static Chinese words and I have included the line
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8"%>
at the top of the page. When I tried to compile it using encoding "UTF8" (under compiler option), the compiler gave me this error:
    C:\Program Files\Oracle\JDeveloper 3.2.3\myhtml\Chinese_html\ChineseList.jsp
    Error: (0) sun.io.MalformedInputException.
Btw, when I have removed the line <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8"%> from the page and compile, I've got this error:
    C:\Program Files\Oracle\JDeveloper 3.2.3\myhtml\Chinese_html\ChineseList.jsp
Warning: (0) ISO-8859-1 character set may not match project compiler setting.
    C:\Program Files\Oracle\JDeveloper 3.2.3\myhtml\Chinese_html\ChineseList.java
    Error: (0) malformed input character in C:\Program Files\Oracle\JDeveloper 3.2.3\myhtml\Chinese_html\ChineseList.java.
I do appreciate your help on this. Thank you.

Here's some info one of the JSP Developers sent me:
    1. HELP.....!!!!! Chinese jsp compilation problem.....
The customer is trying to parse a document generated by
Windows's notepad. When saved in UTF-8, the byte
order mark is saved too. We have a know bug that
JSP parser doesn't recognize Byte Order Mark. The
    bug is : 1915285.
    2. CHINESE CHARACTER ON JSP
. SQLPLUS depends on NLS_LANG setting. If you
check the windows registry, the default of NLS_LANG
depends on the OS. The user environment is Traditional
Chinese, so does NLS_LANG. If we set NLS_LANG
to .UTF8, SQLPLUS dumps the data in UTF8, however,
the command prompt will have problem displaying them.
. For JSP, as mentioned in a previous mail:
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8" %> for all languages
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=GB2312" %> for simplified Chinese
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=Big5" %> for traditional Chinese
. When you enter Chinese characters on a browser,
the data is automatically converted to page encoding
(UTF-8 in your case) before sent back to the server.
But your receiving servlet/JSP needs to have request
    encoding set correctly.
I'm not sure about the JDeveloper environment,
but here is a simple JSP you may try to verify your
    OC4J environment:
    a.    To set up the schema:
    connect scott/tiger
    create table tab01(col varchar2(100));
    b. Edit the connect string in nls.jsp
    c. Run the nls.jsp in oc4j instance.
    <!-- nls.jsp -->
    <%@ page contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" %>
    <%@ page import="oracle.jdbc.*,java.sql.*,java.io.*"%>
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <TITLE>Hello</TITLE></HEAD>

  • Problems writing text on Photoshop CC

I am having problems writing text on Photoshop CC - the image goes black.

Windows 8?  Update your video card driver from the GPU maker's website. If you cannot update your driver (like on a locked laptop machine), then set the GPU drawing mode in Photoshop to "Basic" and relaunch the app.

  • Solved: InDesign CC: Problems with text in text box: text flows around invisible object

I just upgraded from CS4 to CC. I have two problems with text in some text boxes:
The text seems to flow around invisible object that I cannot find or delete. It's as if there is a photo or other object behind the text box; but when I press COMMAND-a to select all, I don't see any such object.
When I move this text box, the layout of the text within changes. For example, when the box is high on my spread, the text flows correctly within the box; but when I move it down, it flows around that hidden other object. For another example, when the box is low on the page, the text starts at the top of the box; but when I move the text box up, the text starts somewhere in the middle of the box.
I have checked margins of the text box and the paragraph options of the text paragraphs (margins, indents, alignments). They all look OK.
If I modify the text box, checking the box "Ignore text wrap", then the problem goes away; but then the text also will not flow around a real object that I want it to flow around.
    Solution:
There were objects in a hidden layer on that one spread. It seems that in CS4 when you "select all" you would also select objects in hidden layers; but in CC it doesn't.

  • ID CS5: Problem with Text Wrap being Forgetful :(

I am having a problem with text wrap. Whenever I open this INDD file I am working on now, some of the images shift from having what I call "actual" text wrap to having "false" text wrap. "Actual" text wrap *actually* wraps the text around the image as it is supposed to; "false" text wrap says that "Wrap Around Bounding Box" is applied to the image yet no text is wrapped. After opening the file, making sure to unset and reset the text wrap on each offending image to show an "actual" text wrap WITHOUT changing layer order, saving the file, closing, and reopening, some images have "false" text wrap again! This is a 77 page document with images on every page.
Another occurrence is if I largely change the flowed text. If I must remove a paragraph on page 7, for example, then the "actual" text wrapped images on page 10, 12, and 18 change to "false" text wrapped images and I have to reset the text wrap on each image. There are often images in between offending ones that DO NOT change, but it doesn't seem to be the same ones each time. So once image A, C, and D will change to "false" text wrap, while B, E, and F are fine; the next time, A, B, and F are wrong and the others are fine. This is driving me crazy as I have never in 8 years of using InDesign encountered a problem using Text Wrap. Please note:
Ignore Text Wrap IS NOT selected.
The text box IS below the images.
The copy is flowed throughout the document.
Preferences>Composition>"Text Wrap Only Affects Text Beneath Selected"" DOES NOT FIX IT.
"Wrap around bounding box" IS showing as selected for the image/images.
There is NO CLIPPING PATH / PHOTOSHOP PATH / ALPHA PATH on these images.
The images / text box order is not changed between being correct and being incorrect.
Anyone else with this trouble? And, if so, how did you fix it? Thanks,
    A. Henson

  • Text sending problems - random texts getting through

Has anyone had this problem? i have a 3g and have the latest software 3.1.3. one particular number is not receiving all my texts. I get no error message, the bar shows the message was sent and my friend simple does not receive all the message. it is pure random, happens any time of day, any location i am in and any length of message. sometimes as little as one a day goes missing and sometimes as much as 5 a day. Both phones have had new sim cards put in and I have even had my iphone restored (and not from a backed up version of the phone) and swapped out. the lost texts even happened when the iphone was in factor settings with no aps, music or pictures in it. I have been transferred back and forth from att and apple. trouble tickets were opened on both numbers by att and att says there is no problems with the network and that all texts are properly delivered and there is no block on either number - yet messages still get lost. we've both have removed each other's contact and replaced the contact as a 10 digit number, have been taken out and put back in network and all our settings are correct according to att. both of us have not had any problems with texting other people - just each other. does anyone know why this is happening and what i can do?

Generally, the failure of a text message is a carrier issue. However, as you have stated, you have worked with the carrier and with Apple, have restored your phone and replaced your SIM. I'm not aware of any other troubleshooting that can be done. The hardest part about troubleshooting the issue is that as you said, it happens randomly.
Is the other phone an iPhone as well? Does the problem exist if you respond to a text, versus creating a new text? Again, since you have already replaced the SIM, had AT&T check your account, and have restored the iPhone as a new phone, I'm not aware of any other fix.

  • Problems Aligning Text in Headers and Footers

I have tried to add headers and footers to documents and the  alignment is wrong.  The center footer/header should be center-aligned  and the right header/footer should be right-aligned.  Unfortunately,  they are both left-aligned.
The preview shows the headers and footers aligned correctly, but when  the headers/footers are inserted in the document, the alignment reverts  to left aligned, although it is centered and on the right side of the  page, as appropriate.
This is not a problem in Acrobat 7.
Please advise if this is a bug and is awaiting an update, or if there is  something that I need to do to fix this problem.
This is a screen shot of the preview windowindicating the proper alignment as indicated in the ovals:
Here is the actual document once the header and footer are added.  Notice how the alignment switches to flush left:
    Any guidance is appreciated.
    Thanks.

Nope.  The good folks at Adobe have neither addressed this issue (and I have
heard from others that it is a problem for them as well) nor have they been
very good about maintaining my account to be able to log in and follow up on
    it.
The truth of the matter is that it appears to be a glitch in some, but not
all, versions of this product and clearly it is not a big enough problem for
them to want to fix it.
I wind up using Acrobat 7 when I need properly formatted headers and footers
or ‹ and this ought to get the attention of the folks at Adobe and maybe
prompt someone (anyone!) to take a look and fix this glitch ‹ you should
check out PDFPen.  It does much of what Adobe can do including headers and
    footers.
If I didn't already have Acrobat 7 (and 8 and now 9), I would ditch Acrobat
and just use Preview or PDFPen.

  • Problem copying text from word to dreamweaver

    Howdy..
had a problem copying text from a word doc (07) to
dreamweaver, for some strange reason it missed a complete section
in the middle, 2 paragraphs gone... no errors... no blank spaces,
just would not copy and paste the section, everything b4 and after
was fine, the only way to correct this was to copy to
textpad/notepad first and then recopy and paste..
    anybody have any ideas ?
    anyone seen this happen b4?
    cheers
    Pythagonal

nope, there didnt seem to be any special formatting in the
word doc, just a straight forward press release, two of them
actually and they both had sections that didn't copy and paste.
what was very strange was it was sections in the middle of
the docs, and wasnt the same in both, was 2 different areas in
each, just when u copy'd and pasted it gave nothing..
and ive never seen anything like it b4,
ive just upgraded to CS4 a few weeks back and this is the
first time ive noticed it, ill keep my eye out and see if its
somethng to do with the way word is formatting stuff..
    cheers

  • Problem sending texts

I'm having a problem sending texts to certain numbers. I have been able to send them before, but not any more. Delivery report tells me it's been delivered, but the recipient says nothing has arrived. It only seems to happen withcertain numbers.

If the messages are in your "sent items" folder, then they have successfully left your phone and non-delivery is down to either the network or the phone at the other end.
As you are getting delivery reports, I would suspect that the receiving phone has some kind of filtering system like that featured in some Nokia Series 30 phones which is filtering the message into a separate folder instead of the user's inbox.

please check the message centre number.if any of your friends are having any phone go to message settings and check for message centre number and key in the same number.it should work.if still it is same you just update it with latest firmware and it should work fine.cheers.
