JSP Report in Jdeveloper 9.0.3.1!!!

Hi,
I've a BC4J jsp application developed by Jdeveloper 9.0.3.1. I need to include a jsp report in my project.
Is it possible to do it? How?
If this is impossible, how can I create a "pdf" format report (or something of similar)?
Tanks in advance.

Harald,
We just got Apache's XSL_FO transformer, XML into PDF working under 902 oc4j.
It's a CPU hog, as one would guess.
Do you know if the tools you mentioned use a more CPU effiicient technology than XSL transform or are more
efficient than Apache's XSL_FO?
Thanks, curt

  • Urgent.....Error while running a jsp report from Jdeveloper

    Hi,
    I am getting following error while running a jsp report from Jdeveloper. I am using version 10.1.2.1.0. The same report is working fine when I am running it from report builder. ( Both these tools were installed using Oracle Developer Suite 10g version 10.1.2). I did search in oracle discussion forums and google, but I could not arrive at a resolution of error. Any help in resolving this issue would be grateful.

  • How to create a JSP Report

    Hello, I am working with JDeveloper 10G. Now, I am trying to create a JSP Report (the typical Hello World) but I read that JDeveloper is integrated to Report Builder 10G.
    I downloaded JDeveloper 10g from oracle site and the only installation I made was unzipping a file.
    Should I install the entire developer suite in order to have a version integrated to Reports 10g?
    Or
    Can I create JSP pages and deploy them in the application server 10G as a report?
    I am new working with oracle reports, any information please.
    Thanks

    Oracle Reports is a tool that is aimed at building reports, it easily let you define multiple queries with relationships ; and then you can arrange the layour anyway you want.
    It provides outputs in HTML as well as PDF, XML and other formats.
    It also includes a reporting server.
    For more on Reports see:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/gettingstarted/index.html
    If all you want to do is build simple JSPs that are based on simple queries you can use JDeveloper using ADF BC for defininf views on queries and then use the JSPs to show the information.
    See for example this:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/collateral/papers/10g/reviewer/viewlets/reviewer_jsp_viewlet_swf.html

  • HOW TO CREATE A NEW J2EE APP FOR DEPLOYING ORACLE REPORTS USING JDEVELOPER?

    Hi,
    I'm new to JDeveloper and Java, JSP etc. I'm trying to deploy a sample parameter form for JSP report. My question is: When I create a J2EE application using JDeveloper, how to make sure "The WEB-INF directory must contain the JSP tag library for Oracle Reports, called reports_tld.jar"? How to do it via JDeveloper?
    In my JSP page, I use <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/lib/reports_tld.jar" prefix="rw" %>.

    Does anyone know the answer to this question?

  • Calling Oracle Developer Report from JDeveloper

    I am using Orale JDeveloper 10.1.2. I can't seem to find a way of producing reports. I read that Oracle Reports developer can be integrated with Jdeveloper. How can I do this? I want to be able to generate reports from Jdeveloper.
    Thanks.
    Lucas

    If you want the Reports integration inside JDeveloper - you need to install the Oracle Developer Suite - the JDeveloper version that comes there has the reports integration.

  • 9iasR2, rwservlet, jsp report, output pdf HttpSession losing information

    Hi,
    I think this is actually something I'm doing wrong with JDeveloper/my understanding of HttpSession, so I'm posting here after getting no help from the Reports folks.
    I have a number of .jsp reports and our application also generates letters for the users with Reports server. We use http://server/reports/rwservlet?report=blah&keymap=blah to run the reports. The keymap specifies the userid and the other relevant information (destype=CACHE, desformat=PDF, etc)
    The problem is that we are storing information in the HttpSession and many times, but not 100% of the time, once we open the rwservlet results (PDF) into a frame and try to go "back" to our application, the data in HttpSession is gone. It's not 100% of the time, but when using the http://mysrv:7777 for all the URLS to go to apache directly, it happens nearly 100% of the time. When getting the webcache involved it happens much much less.
    I'm wondering if it's because I'm "leaving" my context-root (i.e. going from http://myserv/myapp to http://myserv/reports/rwservlet or something else
    If anyone has experienced this or has a better definition, I'd be happy to hear it.
    Also, if there were a way to include the rwservlet "inside" my application so that I'm not "jumping out" of my application, that would be good to try.
    Thanks for any ideas!
    Regards,
    Jeff

    Hi,
    I am using rwservlet from my JSP without problem. I am using 2 jsp pages. First copy output from rwservlet to the local file (report server is on other machine and I need archive of reports) and in second jsp I send this pdf file to the user directly from JSP.
    first.jsp include:
    <BODY onLoad="window.open("second.jsp?report="+<%=finame%>,...);">
    String sestavaURL="http://host:port/rwservlet?..";
    URL sestava=new URL(sestavaURL);
    HttpURLConnection uc=(HttpURLConnection)sestava.openConnection();
    uc.connect();
    InputStream is=uc.getInputStream();
    //is = Input stream with "cached" PDF report
    FileOutputStream os=new FileOutputStream(finame);
    //os= filename in report archive on localhost
    byte[] buff=new byte[1000];
    int readChars;
    while((readChars=is.read(buff))!=-1)
    os.write(buff,0,readChars);
    and the second.jsp includes:
    <%@page import="java.util.*,java.net.*,java.io.*,oracle.jbo.*,oracle.jbo.html.*,oracle.jbo.server.DBTransaction,java.sql.*"%><%@taglib uri="/webapp/DataTags.tld" prefix="jbo"%><%
    %>
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=ISO-8859-2" errorPage="errorpage.jsp" %><%
    String fileName=finame;
    FileInputStream is;
    try
    is=new FileInputStream(fileName);
    catch(Exception e)
    response.setContentType("text/html");
    out.write("<HTML><BODY><H1>Report was not found</H1></BODY></HTML>");
    return;
    byte[] buff=new byte[1024];
    int readChars;
    response.resetBuffer();
    response.setContentType("application/pdf");
    response.setHeader("Content-disposition","inline;filename=generated.pdf");
    while((readChars=is.read(buff))!=-1)
    out.write(new String(buff),0,readChars); %>
    I hope this help you.

  • Print reports + Oracle JDeveloper 10g

    Can anybody tell me, how can I compose good looking reports with JDeveloper 10g , if I'm working on the jsp-application and need to print them from this application? Is there any demo or tutorial?
    Thanks a lot

    Well JSP is just HTML with dynamic data in it - so you'll need to work your HTML charms to make it look nice.
    If you are interested there are specialized reporting tools that let you layout the report in an easier way - one example is Oracle Reports - http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports

    I cant open a jsp file that has been opening fine all week. Please can somebody help.

    When you create a .jsp report, Reports inserts an XML report definition in the <rw:objects> tag. This is why it appears to need an XML parser before it can open up a .jsp file.
    You could try just taking this XML and saving it as a .xml file (ie: remove everything from the .jsp except the content of the <rw:objects> tag). This would at least tell you if the problem is in the XML of the JSP section of the file.
    If you can open up the contents of the xml report then you could try opening the .jsp file up in JDeveloper and see if there are any inconsistencies in the file - ie: unmatched tags.
    If you get an "unable to start the XML parser" error trying to open up the xml file, try creating a simple report and saving and loading to XML.

  • Developing reports using JDeveloper 3.0

    Is it possible to develop reports using jdeveloper 3.0, so that the end users can print reports over the internet? Is that a feature in jdeveloper or do I have to buy a third party tool?
    Thanks,

    Creating HTML/XML-XSL based reports in JDeveloper is completely doable.
    To do this you can either create a Servlet or a JSP. This JSP/Servlet can use either either JDBC or BC4J to access a datasource in the database.
    For further info on how to do this see the
    Java Server Pages overview at: http://tooldemo.oracle.com/demos/tools/jdeveloper/

  • Summary fields in the JSP report

    I created a JSP report using Oracle 9i Reports Developer using report wizard. It has a %Total field on one of the columns.
    It is running good for the first time. But when I am closing and reopening the report the Summary column is showing a null value in the source column. And it would not run the report.

    Puvan,
    I figured out the problem myself. It is not a version issue.
    I was using a sum function on a decode expression in the sql command. The % total was applied on that sum expression. Every time I was reopening the report the sum expression was getting created in a new group.
    When I gave an alias for the sum(decode(xyz)) expression it is working fine now.
    I would still consider that as an issue with Reports Developer.

  • Calling a JSP Report From HTML parameter form

    Hi,
    I m trying to run a JSP Report from a HTML parameter Form. The JSP reports requires a parameter named userid in the URL with a valid value for database connection.
    eg. URL "http://win2kdb.oracle9iis.com:7778/repdemo/examples/Tools/fm_crdinf.jsp?userid=sysapps/system@trt1". We have created a variable on the server named "parmformjsp" with a value "sysapps/system@trt1". Now i use this variable in the URL as follows, eg. "http://win2kdb.oracle9iis.com:7778/repdemo/examples/Tools/fm_crdinf.jsp?parmformjsp".
    When i use this URL to call another JSP report from a JSP report it works fine, but the same does not work when calling a JSP report from a HTML form.
    the code for HTML parameter form calling a report is as follows,
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-us">
    <meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 5.0">
    <meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document">
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
    <title>Parameter Form</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <p>Parameter Form</p>
    <form name="form1" method="GET"
    action="http://win2kdb.oracle9iis.com:7778/repdemo/examples/Tools/fm_custrns.jsp?parmformjsp">
    <p>From Date<input type="text" name="p_fmdate" size="20"></p>
    <p>To Date<input type="text" name="p_todate" size="20"></p>
    <p> </p>
    <p><input type="submit" ><input type="reset" value="Reset" name="B2"></p>
    </form>
    <p> </p>
    </body>
    </html>
    If i create an input parameter named "userid" with a valid database connection value, remove the ?parmformjsp part from the action URL then it works fine. How can i call the JSP report using the parmformjsp variable name instead of using the "userid" clause in the URL.Can anyone suggest any workaround....
    Thanks & Best Regards,
    Unmesh

    do it like this...
    DECLARE
    pl_id ParamList := Get_Parameter_List('tmpdata');
    BEGIN
    IF NOT Id_Null(pl_id) THEN
      Destroy_Parameter_List( pl_id );
    END IF;
    pl_id := Create_Parameter_List('tmpdata');
    Add_Parameter(pl_id, 'ROUTE_CARD_CONTROL', TEXT_PARAMETER, :ROUTE_CARD.ROUTE_CARD_CONTROL);
    Add_Parameter(pl_id, 'PARAMFORM', TEXT_PARAMETER, 'NO');
