JSP tag libs problem
Hi,
I'm using iWS 4.1 on W2K. When I try to run jsp page that is using custom
tags it crashes with com.sun.xml.tree.TextNode exception.
In manuals I found that is becouse taglib.tld is broken
but my is ok, I can use it with tomcat, so it must be iWS problem I gues.
here are my logs:

Hi,
I found why I coudn't use taglibs.
It is becouse I added jaxp to classpath and iWS is using old xml parser.
I moved jaxp from global server classpath to context classpath and
now it works.

I have some doubts about how to work with JSP Tags in iws6. What should I do to get this work?
The tag lib is gotten from jakarta project and I'd like to know which steps i have to follow.
Thank you very muchHi,
What you have to do is this:
- Include the jar file in the WEB-INF/lib
- Include the tld file in a directory under WEB-INF, for example tlds
- Create a mapping in the deployment descriptor (web.xml), to make the taglib available, something like this:
<taglib>
<taglib-uri>http://jakarta.apache.org/taglibs/io</taglib-uri>
<taglib-location>/WEB-INF/tlds/io.tld</taglib-location>
</taglib>
Then in the jsp, you have to invoke it like this:
<%@ taglib uri="http://jakarta.apache.org/taglibs/io" prefix="io" %>
<io:http url="http://mustang:4004/NASApp/fortune/fortune" action="GET"/>
Hope this helps

JSP Tag libs with struts Urgent
Hi
Has anyone implemanted jsp tag libs with the help of struts-bean.tld,struts-html.tld etc,
I need to use these , but I am not clear with how the page retrives the key values
example:
table width="400" cellpadding="10" cellspacing="0" border="0" bgcolor="#cccccc">
<tr>
<td valign="top" colspan="2">
<bean:message key="logon.welcome"/>
<html:errors/>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<bean:message key="logon.welcome"/>----?
I don't no how the"message bean" gets its key value dynamically? how it retrieves from its Application resource file? any idea?
Also has anyone implemanted jsp templates if so kindly guide me thru these
thanks!Hi..
I am myself involved in implementing custom taglibs extending struts functionality. This can be done by extending the struts base classes and tag handlers. If you're still working on this topic, please let me know and we might share experiences.
Best regards,.

Yes sorry, you're correct. The uri I mentioned is just 1.0.
Do you have the "Oracle WebLogic Web App Extension" Facet for your web project? If not, try adding that and making sure that there is a weblogic.xml file created in the WEB-INF dir. The weblogic.xml file allows you to deploy usig a shared lib for JSTL. It should contain a library-ref element something like the following, with a version of 1.1.
<wls:library-ref>
<wls:library-name>jstl</wls:library-name>
<wls:specification-version>1.1</wls:specification-version>
<wls:exact-match>true</wls:exact-match>
</wls:library-ref> -
Hi there,In WLS 6.0 i am encountering a problem in using a JSP expression as a value to a custom tag's attribute. I've specified RTEXPRAL to be TRUE in the TLD. But still the tag is not being evaluated at all. But if i repalce the JSP expression with a hard coded value then everything seems to work perfectly fine. Is it that i have to enclose the JSP expression within double or single quotes?
<%@ taglib uri="lib/esjsp.jar" prefix="es" %>
<%@ taglib uri="pz.tld" prefix="pz" %>
<%@ taglib uri="cm.tld" prefix="cm" %>The .tld files are the Tag Library Descriptors for JSP 1.1 tags. The .jar file
is for a "pre-JSP1.1" Weblogic proprietary tag library extension. Weblogic
Server looks for the older taglib jar files under the lib directory that is
relative to the directory where the weblogic.properties file is located. If you
start your Weblogic Commerce Server from a directory other than your default
directory, then copy the following jar files to a lib directory under that new
directory:
esportal.jar
pt_admin.jar
esjsp.jar
um_tags.jar
wljsp.jar
This will be fixed in a future release.

All,
We have jsp code:
<olr:pageNavigator href="<%=href%>" ccsClass="text" />
It works with SP2, but not with SP3. SP3 does not process <%=href%>,
instead, it pass string <%=href%> itself to the Tag class.
It is a bug !!This isn't legal JSP syntax. If the SP2 compiler let you get away with
it, it shouldn't have. (This sp3 compiler is much more strict than the
old compiler.)
The error is more obvious when you look at the code in XML syntax:
<olr:pageNavigator href="<jsp:expression>href</jsp:expression>
ccsClass="text" />
Just try to get that one through an XML validator. So the bug is not in
iAS, it's in your code !! :-)
Seriously though, the right thing to do would be to write your custom
tag library so that it looks like this:
<olr:pageNavigator ccsClass="text">
<olr:NavigatorHREF>
<%=href%>
</olr:NavigatorHREF>
</olr:pageNavigator>

Thanks Ingo! I realized (while following your link) that my access profile was not containing enough roles to download the packages from the Marketplace. So, I have downloaded the installation package and installed the BusinessObjects SAP Integration Kit XI3.1. However, during the installation process I received the following error message (sorry if it is alredy the n-th time it is mentioned in this forum): "Error 1904. Module C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\CrystalExtension.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024769. Contact your support personnlel." And the buttons - Abort, Retry, Ignore. I have chosen Ignore and the installation has finished "successfully".
But when I start Crystal Reports now, and I am trying to use the Open command on the SAP menu, Crystal Reports shuts down (and Windows starts looking for a "solution of the problem" - without any result, of course).
Could this Crystal Reports shutdown be the result of that .dll registration error during the installation, or it is other known issue of the Integration Kit? Thanks a lot for any idea. -
Hi!
Can someone summarize for me additional custom WebLogic JSP tags available in
WLS 7, compared to WLS 6.1 or changes in functionality of existing custom WebLogic
JSP tags from WLS 6.1 to WLS 7.
Thanks,
Rahul.
I am afraid not. Becuase if you don't buy their product, they even don't let you use their classes of that product.
I tried to use a class inside CommerceServer, but they asked for the license all the time.
My suggestion is you can get some idea from that, but don't use it directly except you have their license.

How to use JSP custom tag lib in PAR file?
Hi All,
I am trying to customize mastheaderpar file. For that I have downloaded relevant par file and making the changes accordingly.
As part of the changes I would require to use JSP custom tag library in my par file.
I have the TLD file and relevant classes in the jar file. I would like to know where and what kind of modifications have to be done to use the jsp custom tag library.
I tried modifying some things in portalapp.xml but was not successful.
Please help me on how to proceed with this? It would be great if you can provide the xml entry to use this tag library
Thanks
SanthoshHi Johny,
Thanks for the reply. Actually I am able to change colors etc. with out any problem.
My requirement is to use XMLTaglib in mastheader par file. This tag lib is from apache tomcat. I have the relevant TLD and class files. I copied TLD file into taglib dir of portal-inf and class file in src api.
And I have added the following line in portalapp.xml under component-profile section of default
<property name="tlxtag" value="/SERVICE/Newmastheader/taglib/taglibs-xtags.tld">
Is this the right way to use tag lib? Actually before adding this line I used to get the error saying "Error parsing taglib", but now the error does not occur and I am getting new error. This is an exception in one of the taglib classes.
Could any one provide me some inputs on how to check this error?
Thanks

[email protected]OC4J 10.1.3 does support JSP 2.0, as well as custom tag libraries (including JSTL 1.1).
There are two approaches to configuring a custom tag library for use in JSPs served by OC4J:
1) Package the JSTL or custom tag library with your application:
i. include the necessary JAR file in your web app's /WEB-INF/lib folder
ii. include the relevant Tag Library Descriptor (TLD) file(s) in your web app's /WEB-INF folder
iii. for each TLD, add a <tag-lib> element to web.xml referencing the TLD file's location and taglib URI
2) Place the JSTL or custom tag library in an Application Server instance-level directory ($ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/home/jsp/lib/taglib) to make them available to multiple applications (in all OC4Js installed in the Oracle Home)
For example, if you'd like to use the JSTL 1.1 Core and Internationalization Tag Libraries, do one of the following:
1) Package the JSTL or custom tag library with your application:
i. Obtain an implementation of JSTL (e.g. Jakarta Taglibs) and include the standard.jar and jstl.jar files in your web module's /WEB-INF/lib directory
ii. From the JSTL implementation you're using, also copy the c.tld and fmt.tld Tag Library Descriptors to your web module's /WEB-INF/lib directory
iii. Add the following elements to your web module's web.xml file:
<jsp-config>
<taglib>
<taglib-uri>http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core</taglib-uri>
<taglib-location>/WEB-INF/c.tld</taglib-location>
</taglib>
<taglib>
<taglib-uri>http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/fmt</taglib-uri>
<taglib-location>/WEB-INF/fmt.tld</taglib-location>
</taglib>
</jsp-config>
OR
2) Copy the standard.jar and jstl.jar libraries from the JSTL implementation you're using to $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/home/jsp/lib/taglib -

Problems in developing custom JSP tags
I have problems in debugging custom JSP tags. Sometimes the doStartTag is not called on tags but the doEndTag is called. I don't know why.
Thanks.Fahr--
A word of caution -- NetUI did not ship a JSP tag SDK in 8.x, and
we're making no compatibility guarantees for custom JSP tags written on
the 8.x release and future releases.
You can accomplish the same sort of functionality with a combination
of the <netui-data:getData> tag and JSTL 1.0. This solution would
probably provide similar functionality and be more future-proof relative
to JSTL and the NetUI tags currently being developed in Beehive.
Hope that helps.

We are in the midst of creating our own JSP tags to work with datasources.
In an example where you would need to compare two different datasources how would you do this?
ie.
<prefix:isGreater dataSource="{pageflow.column1}" dataSourceToCompare="{pageFlow.column2}" />
How would I evaluate what column2 is since the tag will only resolve one data source
this.evaluateDataSource();
Any pointers you can provide would be appreciated, or if there is a library of jsp tags that evaluate objects using datasources already created, that would even be better. -
Problem with boolean attribute of JSP tag
Hi,
I've being trying to use a custom JSP tag, which has a boolean attribute, declared in the TLD as follows:
<attribute>
<name>checked</name>
<required>false</required>
<rtexprvalue>true</rtexprvalue>
<type>boolean</type>
</attribute>
The JSP code snippet is:
<ui:check checked="<%= myBean.isChecked() %>"/>
where myBean.isChecked() returns a boolean value (primitive type).
It works fine on some web containers, but it causes a JSP compilation error on Oracle9iAS 9.0.3 Java Edition, which looks like the following:
Method toBoolean(boolean) not found in class test. _jsp_taghandler_57.setChecked( OracleJspRuntime.toBooleanObject( toBoolean( myBean.isChecked())));
After decompiling the container's JSP parser, I found what I think it's a bug. The java class generated by the JSP parser does not define a toBoolean method, and neither do its superclasses. The method is defined on the OracleJspRuntime class! I think the correct code would have to be something like:
OracleJspRuntime.toBooleanObject(OracleJspRuntime.toBoolean(...))
If I'm correct, then the "convertExpression" method of the "oracle.jsp.parse.JspUtils" class must be changed, because it outputs such wrong code for not just boolean types, but for all the primitive types.
So, has anyone ever faced this problem before? Does it have a workaround, or a patch? Is it included on the bug fixes for the 9.0.4 release?
Thanks!Instead of:
out.println("<body onload ="+strAlert+">");
Try this:
out.println("<body onload =\""+strAlert+\"">");
Add two \" around the alert call. -
