JSP Tag libs with struts Urgent

Hi
Has anyone implemanted jsp tag libs with the help of struts-bean.tld,struts-html.tld etc,
I need to use these , but I am not clear with how the page retrives the key values
example:
table width="400" cellpadding="10" cellspacing="0" border="0" bgcolor="#cccccc">
<tr>
<td valign="top" colspan="2">
<bean:message key="logon.welcome"/>
<html:errors/>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<bean:message key="logon.welcome"/>----?
I don't no how the"message bean" gets its key value dynamically? how it retrieves from its Application resource file? any idea?
Also has anyone implemanted jsp templates if so kindly guide me thru these
thanks!

Hi..
I am myself involved in implementing custom taglibs extending struts functionality. This can be done by extending the struts base classes and tag handlers. If you're still working on this topic, please let me know and we might share experiences.
Best regards,.

    The tag lib is gotten from jakarta project and I'd like to know which steps i have to follow.
    Thank you very much

    Hi,
    What you have to do is this:
    - Include the jar file in the WEB-INF/lib
    - Include the tld file in a directory under WEB-INF, for example tlds
    - Create a mapping in the deployment descriptor (web.xml), to make the taglib available, something like this:
    <taglib>
    <taglib-uri>http://jakarta.apache.org/taglibs/io</taglib-uri>
    <taglib-location>/WEB-INF/tlds/io.tld</taglib-location>
    </taglib>
    Then in the jsp, you have to invoke it like this:
    <%@ taglib uri="http://jakarta.apache.org/taglibs/io" prefix="io" %>
    <io:http url="http://mustang:4004/NASApp/fortune/fortune" action="GET"/>
    Hope this helps

  • Found tag library, no jsp-tag-lib manifest entry

    Yes sorry, you're correct. The uri I mentioned is just 1.0.
    Do you have the "Oracle WebLogic Web App Extension" Facet for your web project? If not, try adding that and making sure that there is a weblogic.xml file created in the WEB-INF dir. The weblogic.xml file allows you to deploy usig a shared lib for JSTL. It should contain a library-ref element something like the following, with a version of 1.1.
    <wls:library-ref>
    <wls:library-name>jstl</wls:library-name>
    <wls:specification-version>1.1</wls:specification-version>
    <wls:exact-match>true</wls:exact-match>
    </wls:library-ref>

  • What is the use of jsp when compare with Struts

    what is the use of jsp when compare with Struts

    JSP Tag Libraries are great for reusable content formatting and ligic.
    For example, let's say you have this Shopping site. Each item you sell is stored in a database, and you get them out depending on Catagories, creating a List of ItemBeans. You allways want to display the items with a catagory header, then a <table> with the item number, the description and the price.
    Instead of creating a bunch of logic in the JSP that does this, you can pass it on to a Tag that might look like this in your JSP:
    <shopping:itemTable catagory="${selectedCatagory}" items="${itemsForCatagory}" />
    This would make the JSP easier to read and work with.
    The actual uses are incredible. Have you used the <jsp:useBean ...> tag? That is an example of a use of the Custom Tag Libraries.
    Furthermore, look into JSTL (JSP Standard Tag Libraries). They are a collection of tags (API by Sun, coding by Apache) used to do many of the standard actions you might want/need to do in JSPs, like a conditional tag (c:if only do something if the test is true), multiple-conditional tags (c:choos c:when c:otherwise) like an if [else if] else construct. Looping through an array or Collection (c:forEach), storeing values in scopes (c:set) formating numbers and dates (the fmt library), xml transformations (xml library), and lots of other things that you could replace scriptlet code with.

  • JSP tag collaboration with BI Beans

    Hello!
    We need to reorganize a dimension hierarchy in runtime during presentation. It's merely a matter of formatting. We use a tag handler that reeds its body doing some operations and puts a new content for body in page.
    We tried this
    ====================
    <My:BodyReaderTag>
    <orabi:ListCombo renderAs="combo" autoSubmit="true" biList="${tagtest_dimMemList1_data}"/>
    </My:BodyReaderTag>
    ====================
    When doing this my tag grabs all content except the output from orabi:ListCombo. It seems like orabi:ListCombo does not push the JspWriter on the stack (by collaboration with orabi:BIBody tag). When, for testing purposes only, I removed the orabi:BIBody tag, I got the result I would like to get.
    How can I get the output from orabi:ListCombo tag? Or if that is not possible, where can I find detailed information so I can create my own customized tag handlers that collaborates with BI Beans,
    Thanks in advance,
    Mats

    The implementation of the <orabi:ListCombo> is based on UIX JSP tags technology. It uses an instance of oracle.cabo.ui.RenderingContext created earlier by the BIThinSession tag to do the actually rendering.
    May I ask what are you trying to do with the <my:reformatter> tag? The ListCombo tag has attributes like "styleClass" and "inlineStyle" that can be used customize the look and feel of the content it renders. Also, we provide a set of built-in styles. Have you looked into whether you can use "styleClass" or "inlineStyle" attributes to satisfy your formatting needs?
    Hope this helps,
    Keith

  • Custom tag lib with output parameter

    Hi,
    I need a tag libray that gives me a specific element of a Vector.
    Here there is the line I have in my jsp.
    <ct:partizione tronco="${contenitoreCentralineTronco}" indice="index" partizione="tmpPartizione"/>
    ...-contenitoreCentralineTronco is an Object that contains a Vector of other specif objects.
    -indice is the vector index of the specif instance I need.
    -partizione should be the output instance.
    This is part of my tld file:
        <tag>
             <name>partizione</name>
            <tagclass>ss.aspi.classi.centraline.grafica.tagSupport.Partizione</tagclass>
            <bodycontent>empty</bodycontent>
            <info>Estrae una partizione da un vettore di partizioni dato l'indice</info>
            <attribute>
                <name>tronco</name>
                <required>true</required>
                <rtexprvalue>true</rtexprvalue>
            </attribute>
            <attribute>
                <name>indice</name>
                <required>true</required>
            </attribute>
            <attribute>
                <name>partizione</name>
                <required>false</required>
            </attribute>
         </tag>
    ...this is part of the class called by the tag:
         private ContenitoreTroncoBean tronco;
         private Integer indice;
         private ContenitorePartizioneBean partizione;
         public int doStartTag() throws JspException {
              try {
                   Vector<ContenitorePartizioneBean> partizioni = tronco.getPartizioniBean();
                   partizione = partizioni.get(indice);
              }catch (Exception e) {
                   log.error("Errore nell'estrazione della Partizione "+indice);
                   e.printStackTrace();
              return TagSupport.SKIP_BODY;
         //All getter and setter functionsWhen I run the application I get this exception:
    jsp.error.beans.property.conversion
    looking deeper in the class code jenerated from the jsp, I noted that the problem refers to the third attribute of the tag <ct:partizione>.
    It seems It trys to set the attribute "partizione" with the value "tmpPartizione", but partizioni should be an output attribut non input. The varible tmpPartizione doesn't exist... the tag should create it.
    I realized I didn't get how I should create a tag with output parameters.
    Anyone can explane me it?
    Thanks.

    One suggestion: Take a closer look at the EL (expression language)
    It has an excellent syntax for accessing collections/maps
    ${contenitoreCentralineTronco[index]} would exactly what you want, without having to write a custom tag for it.
    If you REALLY want to do this as a custom tag, then you need to treat the input attribute as a String (the name of the variable you are going to create?) Right now your tag declares the attribute partizione as being of type ContenitorePartizioneBean which is probably the cause of the problem - you are passing it a String.
    Cheers,

    It is becouse I added jaxp to classpath and iWS is using old xml parser.
    I moved jaxp from global server classpath to context classpath and

  • New JSP Tags in WLS 7

              Hi!
              Can someone summarize for me additional custom WebLogic JSP tags available in
              WLS 7, compared to WLS 6.1 or changes in functionality of existing custom WebLogic
              JSP tags from WLS 6.1 to WLS 7.
              Thanks,

              I am afraid not. Becuase if you don't buy their product, they even don't let you use their classes of that product.
              I tried to use a class inside CommerceServer, but they asked for the license all the time.
              My suggestion is you can get some idea from that, but don't use it directly except you have their license.

  • Where  tag libs related to JavaHelp can be downloaded?

    Where the JSP tag libs related to JavaHelp can be downloaded? .It was not available as part of JH2.0 downloadable.

    Thanks Ingo! I realized (while following your link) that my access profile was not containing enough roles to download the packages from the Marketplace. So, I have downloaded the installation package and installed the BusinessObjects SAP Integration Kit XI3.1. However, during the installation process I received the following error message (sorry if it is alredy the n-th time it is mentioned in this forum): "Error 1904. Module C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\CrystalExtension.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024769. Contact your support personnlel." And the buttons - Abort, Retry, Ignore. I have chosen Ignore and the installation has finished "successfully".
    But when I start Crystal Reports now, and I am trying to use the Open command on the SAP menu, Crystal Reports shuts down (and Windows starts looking for a "solution of the problem" - without any result, of course).
    Could this Crystal Reports shutdown be the result of that .dll registration error during the installation, or it is other known issue of the Integration Kit? Thanks a lot for any idea.

              We are currently porting our application which uses struts 1.1 to WLS 8.1 sp1
              from another app server. Everything seems to deploy correctly and pages which
              use struts tags appear to compile and run fine. However, the pages with struts
              <bean:define> tags are not compiling.
              Example JSP Code:
              <bean:define id="userForm" name="userForm" scope="session" toScope="page" type="UserFormBean"/>
              <% if (userForm.hasUserData()) {hasUser=true;} %>
              WLS Console Output:
              ..jsp_servlet\_jsp\_sailor\__home.java:493: cannot resolve symbol
              symbol : variable userForm
              location: class jsp_servlet._jsp._sailor.__home
              if (userForm.hasUserData()) { //[ /jsp/sailor/home.jsp; Line: 38]
              When I look at the JSP's parsed java code (__home.java:493) I find that nowhere
              in the class is the variable userForm declared.
              Is this a bug in WLS? Does anyone know of a workaround?
              Thanks,
              Scott

  • JSP programming with Tag Libraries like Struts.

    Hi friends,
    I've been programming in JSP, JavaBeans for the last 1 year. However, with the current popularity of Tag Libraries & concepts like MVC, Struts am thinking of using these in JSPs. Even though I am not totally convinced about the real advantages like "No Java code" in JSP pages bcoz normally anyway most of the Java Code is done in the Javabean where my Business Logic is present.
    If any of you have previously worked on Tag Libraries please would you advice me whether it's worth it and which books & material would be best for these.
    Thanking you in advacnce.
    Cheers
    Sanjiv

    Based on my experience with using JSP tags, I would definitely strongly recommend them. If nothing else, application/project specific custom tags go a long way in facilitating development-time productivity and code maintenance.
    And ofcourse, with JSP tags you get the added advantage of the JSP container maintaining pools of instantiated tag objects so even the runtime performance is helped.
    The book Web Development with Java Server Pages by Duane K. Fields, Mark A. Kolb from Manning Publications has helped me a lot about JSP tags.
    Sun's tutorial http://java.sun.com/j2ee/tutorial/doc/JSPTags.html is also good.

  • How to use JSP custom tag lib in PAR file?

    Hi All,
    I am trying to customize mastheaderpar file. For that I have downloaded relevant par file and making the changes accordingly.
    As part of the changes I would require to use JSP custom tag library in my par file.
    I have the TLD file and relevant classes in the jar file. I would like to know where and what kind of modifications have to be done to use the jsp custom tag library.
    I tried modifying some things in portalapp.xml but was not successful.
    Please help me on how to proceed with this? It would be great if you can provide the xml entry to use this tag library
    Thanks
    Santhosh

    Hi Johny,
    Thanks for the reply. Actually I am able to change colors etc. with out any problem.
    My requirement is to use XMLTaglib in mastheader par file. This tag lib is from apache tomcat. I have the relevant TLD and class files. I copied TLD file into taglib dir of portal-inf and class file in src api.
    And I have added the following line in portalapp.xml under component-profile section of default
    <property name="tlxtag" value="/SERVICE/Newmastheader/taglib/taglibs-xtags.tld">
    Is this the right way to use tag lib? Actually before adding this line I used to get the error saying "Error parsing taglib", but now the error does not occur and I am getting new error. This is an exception in one of the taglib classes.
    Could any one provide me some inputs on how to check this error?
    Thanks
    Santhosh
