Jsp variables to javascript array, for loop dont work.

This works fine. con.getmake passes a different variable each time to the javascript array using a manual index.
<script>
make[0] = "<%= con.getmake() %>" ;
document.write(make[0]);
make[1] = "<%= con.getmake() %>" ;
document.write(make[1]);
make[2] = "<%= con.getmake() %>" ;
document.write(make[2]);
make[3] = "<%= con.getmake() %>" ;
document.write(make[3]);
</script>
If I try and do the same with a for loop, It seems as though all the elements hold the same first variable retrieved from con.getmake, I am not getting the next variable from my java class.
<script>
for (var i= 0; i <= 2; i++)
make[i] = "<%= con.getmake() %>" ;
document.write(make);
</script>

Hi,
Java is parsed once on the server which creates a HTML page, then it is passed to the client's browser where the javascript is executed. So con.getmake() is only executed once in java. You've got to execute your loop in java not javascript :
<script>
<%
for (int i= 0; i <= 2; i++)
%>
document.write("<%= con.getmake() %>");
<%
%>
</script>

  • JSP variable in javascript

    Can I use a jsp variable in javascript? If so, how? It would be used in an "if" statement:
    function get This() {
    if (document.form.tfName.checked==true) || (<%jsp>) {
      then do this...}
    }

    My problem is I am grabbing a persistant value from a

    the page that controls this while the page is open.
    Just don't know how to incorporate the two scenarios
    s for:
    1.checking the value to ernable/disable the sumbit on
    load with the value of the VO
    2. using javascript to control the enable/disable

    <%
    boolean enableButton = InformationVO.isChecked();

    <head>

  • Parsing JSP variable into JavaScript

    Hi,
    I am trying to parse a JSP variable into a pice of JavaScript code:
    <%

    String table_name=cols[0].toString();
    %>
    <script language="javascript">
    var jsTemp = <%=table_name%>

    </script>
    <%some more JSP....
    This does not create an alert, any ideas why? Am I missing a quote/semi-colon somewhere?

    Sure this is being executed,
    when trying to run, this does not work:
    String table="TEST";%>
    <script language="javascript">var jsTemp = <%=table%> alert ('jsTemp');</script>
    <%more JSP...
    when trying to similarly run, I get the popup 'HELLO':
    String table="TEST"; //not used anymore%>
    <script language="javascript">var jsTemp = "HELLO"; alert ('jsTemp');</script>
    <%more JSP...
    Is there supposed to be a semi-colon after <%=table%> ? Or is there another issue with this bit of code?

  • Javascript array for iGrid & iCharts

    Is there a way to push javascript array data to IGrid and iChart display templates?

    The runtime java applets only 'pull' data by executing the underlying query template, so there is no way for you to directly 'push' data from a JavaScript array into them.
    An indirect way to accomplish this would be to pass the contents of your array as a comma separated list into a query parameter (Param.x) as an IN clause in a SQL Query template or through an Xacute Query to a BLS transaction, where you could process the list as desired and return the dataset to the applet.  Not a very direct approach, but a possibility.

  • My stupid FOR loop doesnt work to create a new array, help!

    Hello, I need help creating a new integer array that contains exactly one of each element a different array.
    My original array is called co[]
    lets say it has the values: 1213445232
    I want my new array called classArr[]
    for example, it would end up being: 12345
    my integer array is called classArr[]. and i want it to store exactly one of each element from the co[] array. Here is my code. It compiles without errors, but I get out of bounds exception when i run it.
    classArr[0] = co[0];
    int temp = 1;
    for (int k = 0; k < x; k++) { //x is the number or elements in co[]
         for (int j = 0; j < temp; j++) {
              if (classArr[j] != co[k]){
                    classArr[temp] = co[k];
                    temp++;
    System.out.println("Values in new array");
    for (int c = 0; c < temp; c++){
         System.out.println(classArr[c] + " ");
    } Thanks for your help!!!!

    im pretty sure the initialization of the variables are
    set right.Well, without seeing the initialization I doubt I can help you. Try to figure out if it is classArr[temp] or co[k] that causes the exception. (Hint: put them on two different lines.)
    x is the number of elments in the co[] arrayTry replacing it with co.length.
    classArr[] is a dynamic array set to a number, lets
    say it's abcWhat is a "dynamic array" in your terminology? And what is "abc"? Please provide at least the declarations of your arrays.

  • Javascript For loop not working within a function

    Hi all,
    I'm a beginner to LiveCycle and I cant seem to get a loop working within a function.  The function is being called successfully because when I manually create the code it works but I am trying to clean things up.
    So here is my working example:
    function hideContent() {
            MainFlowedSub.LevelsSub.Table1.presence = "hidden";
            MainFlowedSub.LevelsSub.Table2.presence = "hidden";
           ... and so on....
             MainFlowedSub.LevelsSub.Table8.Row1.presence = "hidden";
            MainFlowedSub.LevelsSub.Table8.Row2.presence = "hidden";
           ... and so on....
    However when I try and creat a loop instead of listing every sing table/row nothing happens. this is important to my project as there will be alot of different rows depending on radio button selections earlier in the form.  Below is the current state of my code:
    function hideContent() {
        var i=0;
         for (i=1;i<=5;i++)
             MainFlowedSub.LevelsSub.Table[i].presence = "hidden";
        var j=0;
         for (j=1;j<=23;j++)
             MainFlowedSub.LevelsSub.Table8.Row[j].presence = "hidden";
        var k=0;
         for (k=24;k<=88;k++)
             MainFlowedSub.LevelsSub.Table8.Row[k].presence = "hidden";
    this will then continue as there will be hundreds of rows.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated and I am sure I am making a basic error  so thanks in advance.
    j

    thanks for your help paul.  Again, really appreciated as I know very little about all this.
    Unfortunately its still not working... One thing I am sure of is that I am doing something very basic wrong. So here is my code, I have applied your suggestion above which will cover all my data:
    To give an understanding, I have 5 tables of content, each has i amount of rows. and I am running this script to clear/remove all items being displayed.
    function hideContent() {
        for (var i=1;i<=5;i++)
            xfa.resolveNode("MainFlowedSub.LevelsSub.Table[" + i + "]").presence = "hidden";
        for (var i=1;i<=71;i++)
            xfa.resolveNode("MainFlowedSub.LevelsSub.Table8.Row[" + i + "]").presence = "hidden";
        for (var i=1;i<=93;i++)
            xfa.resolveNode("MainFlowedSub.LevelsSub.Table9.Row[" + i + "]").presence = "hidden";
        for (var i=1;i<=99;i++)
            xfa.resolveNode("MainFlowedSub.LevelsSub.Table10.Row[" + i + "]").presence = "hidden";
        for (var i=1;i<=101;i++)
            xfa.resolveNode("MainFlowedSub.LevelsSub.Table11.Row[" + i + "]").presence = "hidden";
        for (var i=1;i<=87;i++)
            xfa.resolveNode("MainFlowedSub.LevelsSub.Table12.Row[" + i + "]").presence = "hidden";
    It has to be something to do with my For loops because if I manually insert each line it works perfectly.
    Thanks again,
    johnny

    Hi everyone, i am new to java and am having some problems with my program.
    I have a for loop but it doesnt work it completely gets ignored and i have

    IS there a way that i add another option in the menu to open an external file

        // add new methods or override ones from Booking

  • Access af:table values from JavaScript array (for google maps task)

    Hi!
    I have JSP page with af:table where latitude and longitude for google maps are stored. I am using these tutorial [https://blogs.oracle.com/middleware/entry/integrating_google_maps_with_adf] and I know how to access latitude and longitude from output text (for one point). Now i need to do something similar with loop for all table rows. How can I achieve this?
    I have JavaScript code which uses Google Maps API and can display many points on one map. Also I have longitude and latitude data in af:table (bindings), each table row has one point. My task is to take data from af:table and pass it to JavaScript.
    May be it is better to use managed bean as you said. Firstly I will access binding data from managed bean. Then I have to pass this data to JavaScript method? Can you suggest some example? I have "Using JavaScript in ADF Faces Rich Client Applications"

    My table is there :
    <af:table value="#{bindings.LocView1.collectionModel}" var="row"
                                  rows="#{bindings.LocView1.rangeSize}"
                                  emptyText="#{bindings.LocView1.viewable ? 'No data to display.' : 'Access Denied.'}"

  • JSTL + Javascript array for dhtml menu???  any ideas

    Hi,
    I am using the Tigra menu within creator. I have this working fine, but I need to generate a dynamic menu list based on a session bean string array .
    The javascript variable I use in the jsp file is:
    var MENU_ITEMS = [
    ['Humanities', null],
    ['Arts',null],
    ['Scienece',null],
    ['Sports',null],
    ['Boozing',null],
    ['Fornicating',null],
    How can I use a session bean array variable to recreate this?
    I assume using JSTL would be an approach?
    Has anybody got any code that has done this type of thing before?

  • Set jsp variable in javascript

    I have a simple question.
    I have a section in jsp as below
    <%!
    String initial = "true";
    %>
    Can I set the "initial" parameter in javascript function in the same jsp like below?
    function init() {
    <%! initial = "true"; %>
    If not, would you please give me the syntax to do it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mustafa

    the jsp scriptlet code, everything in between your <% ... %> marks, is compiled on the server.
    the javascript code is run on the client.
    therefore, you can NOT edit the scriptlet code from javascript. it cannot be done.
    you CAN however edit your javascript code with the jsp scriplet. see the below example, which shows me setting a javascript variable based on some scriplet code...
    <% String name = "Joe Schmoe"; %>
    <script>
    function doSomething() {
    var something = '<%= name %>';
    </script>
    When that page is rendered it will look like this...
    <script>
    function doSomething() {
    var something = 'Joe Schmoe';
    </script>

  • Array - For Loop & Modification in Crystal Reports

              {?Partner_Name}[i] = 'Lincoln'
         Else If{?Partner_Name}[i] = 'LINCOLN - UT' Then
              {?Partner_Name}[i] = 'LINCOLN'
         Else
              {?Partner_Name}[i] = {?Partner_Name}[i]
