JSplitPane divider appears too large under 1.4

I just tried my code in 1.4, and the divider of my JSplitPane starts at about 100 pixels wide. If I grab and move it, it resets to the right size. This only happens under 1.4. I've tried explicitly setting the size, but it still initially appears huge.
Any ideas?

Well, I've tried all your creative ideas (many thanks) - I even updated my JVM (jre 1.4b92 windows) to be sure I didn't have an old beta jvm, but nothing worked.
However, I did find a short term hack - something that will likely bite me later. The following code is executed when a window event is triggered. Then 3 seconds later, the revalidate() is called, followed by a JFrame revalidate() and repaint(). (Sense a little frustration here?) Bottom line, I have a working hack - for now. I'll pay for my sins later....

* @todo fix this for real - this is a hack for JDK 1.4. It is not needed in JDK 1.3

  • HELP! Display appears too large for screen!

Weird thing happening... The display on my iPhone for some reason is appearing too large for the screen, as if I zoomed in on the display slightly. I can't figure out a way to fix this.
Here's what it looks like. Notice the bottom half of the "scroll to unlock" is cut off... the whole thing is off-centered bcause of the zoom) http://i37.tinypic.com/25qvpr4.jpg
I updated to the latest software/etc... because I figured that that might resolve the issue. Restarted the phone. Can't fix. Trying to avoid my local Apple store, since it's an absolute mob scene. Any advice?

    You have zoom on, probably.
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_UserGuide.pdf
The manual will tell you how to turn it off.
    Page 190:
"Turn Zoom on or off: In Settings, choose General > Accessibility > Zoom and tap the
    Zoom On/Off switch.
Note: You cannot use VoiceOver and Zoom at the same time.
Zoom in or out: Double-tap the screen with three fingers. By default, the screen is
magnified by 200 percent. If you manually change the magnification (by using the tap-
and-drag gesture, described below), iPhone automatically returns to that magnification
when you zoom in by double-tapping with three fingers.
Increase magnification: With three fingers, tap and drag toward the top of the
screen (to increase magnification) or toward the bottom of the screen (to decrease
magnification). The tap-and-drag gesture is similar to a double-tap, except you don’t
lift your fingers on the second tap—instead, drag your fingers on the screen. Once you
start dragging, you can drag with a single finger.
Move around the screen: When zoomed in, drag or flick the screen with three fingers.
Once you start dragging, you can drag with a single finger so that you can see more
of the screen. Hold a single finger near the edge of the display to pan to that side of
the screen image. Move your finger closer to the edge to pan more quickly. When you
open a new screen, Zoom always goes to the top-middle of the screen.

  • Font appears too large

Hi, I'm running Photoshop CS3 Mac.
Text size that would be 9 or 10 point in other apps is only 3 or 4pt in PS. My image size is 600px x 600px, 300 dpi. I think that the font is losing clarity because I have it set to such a low number. Why is this happening? Thanks in advance.

Not sure I understand you, but maybe this will help:
Your 600x600 image at 300 ppi works out to 2x2 inches at actual size. Your 12 point text should look like 12 point text when printed at actual size. However when viewing that 300 ppi image in Photoshop at 100% (i.e. one image pixel = one monitor pixel) it may look too large to you, since your monitor's resolution is probably in the range of 72-100 ppi. (Note that your "2x2 inch" image appears much larger than 2 inches wide in this case.) Therefore a 300 ppi image viewed at 100% in Photoshop will be 300-400% larger than "actual" size, so 12 point type may look too large on screen...in the same way, 3 or 4 point text will look like 12 point text at that magnification.
You can choose View > Print Size for a rough preview of "actual" size, but that depends on the Screen Resolution setting in Preferences > Units & Rulers. 72 ppi is the default, but your monitor may be higher or lower than that.

  • Items on desktop and in windows appear too large

I recently had to perform a System Restore to remove some malicious software, but when my computer restarted I found that everything seemed over-sized. Right now both the desktop and internet explorer look magnified, and to see a standard size web page I have to zoom out to 75%. It is extremely inconvenient, and I've been looking for an answer for quite some time.
I have already verified that my resolution is at 800x600, which is the lowest setting, that my dpi is at 100%, and I've looked at my video card to see if I had to install any drivers. I think it is described as being a "standard vga graphics adapter."
It is very important to me that I correct it back to the way it was prior to the restore, so any suggestions are appreciated.

    Hi,
You need higher resolution, not lowest. What is the native resolution of your screen ? 800 x 600 is too low for a normal screen. To help us answer question quicker, please read this:

    Good day Colin,
In order to split a PDF file, you'll need to use Adobe Acrobat.
You may want to try turning off the 'Recognize text' option and converting your file again, it may help.
    Kind regards,

  • Form fields appear normal on my computer, but are too large on client's computer

I recently created a fillable PDF using Acrobat Pro for a client. I have done this many times before, and never had any issues with formatting.  On my computer, the fields appear perfect, but on the client's computer they are too large and obscure the surrounding text.  Please see the first screenshot for reference. Notice the large white form field on the left side.  He has viewed the document both on a Mac (in Preview) and on a PC (Acrobat Reader) and had the same problem.   The following is a screenshot of the same file on my computer:
On my computer, the name field appears to fill normally.  Does anyone have any idea why this is happening, and what I can do to fix it?
    Thanks!

That person is using Preview and not Adobe Reader or Acrobat. Preview's support for PDF forms is dismal and it should not be used. It actually corrupts PDF forms (and other PDFs) in a number of ways, so that particular file should not be used again. If they don't want to install Reader, there's not much you can do.

  • Result set too large in BI report; Safety belt settings in WAD

    Hello All,
When we run a BI report, the error " Result set is too large; data retrieval restricted by configuration" appears. We did a search on SAP portal and found the SAP note 1127156, whics recommends the configuaration of safety belt to limit memory used.
Acoordingly the cust table RSADMIN has been configured. But on the web template side, we need to configure the changes as well. The note says:
"1. Use the context menu Properties / Data Provider in a BEx Web Application to maintain the "safety belt" for a Query View.
    2. Choose the register "Size Restriction for Result Sets".
    3. Choose an entry from the dropdown box to specify the maximum number of cells for the result set.
    The following values are available:
    Maximum Number
    Default Number
    Custom-Defined Number
Behind "Maximum Number" and "Default Number" you can find the current numbers defined in the customizing table RSADMIN (see below).
    4. Save the Query View and use it in another Web Template."
I am trying to locate these options in the context menu in Web Applications designer but in vain.
    Can anyone help...

This option is not available in WAD, it will be available when you run the web template under settings, Data Provider for the standard template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN.
If you have a custom template you will have to use the Dataprovider settings web item in your custom template to change the values during runtime.

  • HT3275 The back up is too large for the back up disk

I've been using an external hard drive (not a time capsule)  through time machine since April of last year.  It's been great backing up all of my info.  BUT all of the sudden a message appears saying:  Time Machine could not complete the back up:  This backup is too large for the backup disk.  I thought, when time machine ran out of room it was suppose to erase the oldest backup to replace it with the current one, but that appears not to be happening.  Also, where as I once had all of my backups on the disk, I now only have one from about a month ago and Time Machine will not replace it with the backup I need to make currently.  I tried to create space on the disk by "Deleting all backups from this time machine" and by dragging the items from the finder window to trash-  Neither of these things worked to erase the old back up and/or create space on my external drive for the backup I wish to make currently... does anyone have any answers or advice????

Where I am confused is that... prior to this month.  I've backed up my Macbook repeatedly on this same external hard drive since last April.  Until recently I knotied that TM kept several old backups from different dates (as per the design).  Then when I started having trouble recently, I realized there is now only one previous backup.  DId my backups become larger to the point that instead of several there is now only room for one at a time?
Check what's shown for Estimated size of full backup under the exclusions box in TM Prefs > Options.
Most likely, something very large was added or changed, and had to be backed-up.
It's also possible that your backups were failing for the last month, leaving many partial backups (TM cleans them up, but only after one completes successfully).
A clue may be lurking in your logs.  Use the widget in #A1 of Time Machine - Troubleshooting to display the backup messages from your logs.  Look back as far as it will let you (probably only a couple of days) and see what's there.  Most of the messages are fairly clear, so you might be able to figure out what happened.  If in doubt, copy and post all the messages from a representative backup here.

I'm running the managed servers with a heap size of 3GB and the managed server is running with 2GB - I know these are large but they where being used for debugging
I can't find any documentation on the file size too large error, or how to resolve it
DeploymentService:290065 says to look in the log (details are above) and DeploymentService:290066 says the error will be explained in it's description, which it is, "file size too big", it doesn't say where to see/set the max file size, there is plenty of disk space so I can only assume it's setting for the deployment service that needs to be increase, but I cannot find info on this.

I don't think this would help, but would using the nostage option for deployment change this behaviour.
I don't think it would as this is for disk based problems rather than transfer size issues.

  • Outlook for mac 2011 sent mail file too large error message

The synchronization of outlook with gmail is slowing down because there is a stuck message that appears to be too large.
Have tried to run a script i found out about to delete and it didnt work. I also went to Offline mode and sent myself an email so i could see the outbox and there is nothing there.
    Suggestions appreciate.

    Normanfrompalmyra,
Gmail does not have an outbox per se. While you are composing or writing an e-mail, it is automatically saved in the Drafts folder. After you hit send, a copy of the e-mail is saved in the Sent folder. So, you can look in both those folders.
If you are in Outlook, click on the Home tab, then look at the left side of the Outlook window. You should see a column on the left with each of the different e-mail accounts that you have set up in Outlook. At the top of this column are the four general folders: Inbox, Drafts, Sent Items, Deleted Items. Below that are folders for each e-mail account, under which you see the folder structure you created for each e-mail account. If you know which e-mail is causing the problem, look under Drafts, Sent Items, then Deleted Items for that e-mail.
    Good luck,
    Arbor Friend

  • Problem: backup is too large for the backup volume

I am seeing the following message. Any hints as to what is going on?
The backup is too large for the backup volume. The backup requires 711.1 MB but only 20.2 GB are available.
To select a larger volume, or make the backup smaller by excluding files, open System Preferences and choose Time Machine.

    I fixed it. I think.
    Recipe:
    1. Logged in an an administrator (usually my work accounts are Standard)
    2. Ran Onyx utility (http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/systemdiskutilities/onyx.html)
    3. Noted that under "Scripts", the weekly and monthly scripts had not been run since before the problem began
    4. Ran weekly and monthly scripts
    5. Restarted Time Machine
    6. TM now correctly deleted my old backups, freeing about 30GB. It now correctly reports that my oldest backup is Feb 3 2008, previously it said Dec 27 2007.
    7. TM ran perfectly
So it appears that there was some bad juju in the old caches cleared by the scripts. If this pops up again, I will report it here.

  • Another JSplitPane divider cursor problem

I have the same problem discussed elsewhere in that the cursor doesn't change to a E_RESIZE_CURSOR when it's over a split panel divider. The code is in a large application too huge to post, and my attempts to simplify it have been unable to reproduce the problem. I have implemented the solution suggested in [http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=57&threadID=642994] but, although the mouse listener methods are indeed called, the cursor doesn't change. I have also tried calling setCursor on the parent of the JSplitPane, and on the JRootPane, but it doesn't change. In each case the mouse listener is called but the setCursor call has no effect.
All the discussions on setCursor having no effect I've found are specific to JDialog. In my case, I have a deep window stack starting with JFrame, JRootPane, JLayeredPane, down through several JPanels, a JSplitPane, more JPanels, my JSplitPane, which contains 2 JPanels, and so on.
What would prevent the JSplitPane divider from changing the cursor itself? Assuming it's trying, just as my explicit mouse listener is, what could be overriding, obscuring, or intercepting my cursor change?
Any help would be most welcome
    Thanks!
