JSR 181 (Web Service Metadata) ambiguity clarification

I have a question regarding the @WebService annotation.
It can take a name and a serviceName attribute. The description of them in the JSR doesn't really clarify to me what the difference between them is.
name--The name of the Web Service. Used as the
name of the wsdl:portType when mapped to
WSDL 1.1
serviceName--The service name of the Web Service. Used as
the name of the wsdl:service when mapped
to WSDL 1.1.
Not allowed on interfaces.
Is the only difference their usages in the WSDL file?

Can't you just use the SAAJ API that way you'll have controll as to how your SOAP message is constructed?

  • Deployment of JSR-109 Web Services on Weblogic 11g (OAS migration)

    Hi.
    I'm being part of an ongoing migration effort from Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.5 to WebLogic 11g (10.3.6). Some of the OAS applications use old JSR-109 Web Services, where each service has the following components:
    - A SEI interface that extends java.rmi.Remote and declares the service methods, which throw java.rmi.RemoteException (e.g. ServiceSEI)
    - A service implementation POJO that implements the SEI interface (e.g. ServiceImpl)
    - A [Service]-config.xml file that declares the service and relates name, namespaces, packages, interface and implementation (e.g. Service-config.xml)
    - A declaration of the service implementation POJO as a servlet (with mapping) in web.xml (docs says it doesn't have to be technically a servlet)
    - A webservices.xml file that defines the service and references the mapping file.
    - A [Service]-mapping.xml file that defines the WS-Java mappings.
    All the artifacts look right according the old documentation:
    - Programming Web Services for WebLogic Server, Creating a J2EE Web Service Manually: http://otndnld.oracle.co.jp/document/products/wls/docs92/webserv/jsr109.html
    - Web Services for J2EE 1.0 Final Release Spec: http://download.oracle.com/otndocs/jcp/websvcs-1.0-fr-spec-oth-JSpec/
    The Web Services work OK in OAS. When I try to deploy any of the application that contain one of that services to WebLogic, I get the following Exception:
    <BEA-101216> <Servlet: "WSServlet_Procesos" failed to preload on startup in Web application: "/webapp".

    I obviously though the EAR package given to me was incomplete, lacking the ClassNotFound related class, but the package was OK, and is exactly the same that deploys without problems in OAS.
    The ClassNotFound related class is referenced in the <java-xml-type-mapping> element of the [Service]-mapping.xml file, e.g.:
    <java-xml-type-mapping>
    <java-type>co.com.acme.services.ServiceSEI_serviceOperation_ResponseStruct</java-type>
    <root-type-qname xmlns:typeNS="urn:Service/types">typeNS:serviceOperationResponse</root-type-qname>
    <qname-scope>complexType</qname-scope>
    <variable-mapping>
    <java-variable-name>result</java-variable-name>
    <xml-element-name>result</xml-element-name>
    </variable-mapping>
    </java-xml-type-mapping>
    I searched the OAs installation deployment dirs looking for the missing class and found it was present in a Jar called deployment-cache.jar. According OC4J related documentation, this Jar es auto-generated at deployment time.
    Weblogic 11g documentation says that kind of Web Services will continue to run, without any changes, on version 10.3.x of WebLogic Server because the associated Web services run time is still supported in this release, although it is deprecated and will be removed from the product in future releases (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/web.1111/e13760/upgrade.htm). I know the right estrategy is migrate the Web Services, but right now my client needs to deploy and use them as they are. I think WL recognizes my service since internally is calling a "Deploytime109MappingHelper" class.
    ¿Is there any way I can deploy that kind of services to Weblogic 11g? ¿I'm I missing some required step?
    As a workaround, I included the OAS generated deployment-cache.jar into the EAR to deploy in Weblogic 11g and the app deploys without errors, but I see this is not a nice solution.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Esteban

    Hi. The [Service]-mapping.xml file is a standard "JAX-RPC mapping file" according the JSR-109 spec and WebLogic 9.2 doc ([1],[2]). That's the file that references the class. Here's a fragment:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
    <java-wsdl-mapping xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" version="1.1" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee http://www.ibm.com/webservices/xsd/j2ee_jaxrpc_mapping_1_1.xsd">
    <package-mapping>
    <package-type>co.com.acme.services</package-type>
    <namespaceURI>urn:Service/types</namespaceURI>
    </package-mapping>
    <package-mapping>
    <package-type>co.com.acme.services</package-type>
    <namespaceURI>urn:Services/wsdl</namespaceURI>
    </package-mapping>
    <java-xml-type-mapping>
    <java-type>co.com.acme.services.ServiceSEI_serviceOperation_RequestStruct</java-type>
    <root-type-qname xmlns:typeNS="urn:Service/types">typeNS:serviceOperation</root-type-qname>
    <qname-scope>complexType</qname-scope>
    <variable-mapping>
    <java-variable-name>String_1</java-variable-name>
    <xml-element-name>String_1</xml-element-name>
    </variable-mapping>
    </java-xml-type-mapping>
    I'll take a look at the ant task.
    Thank you very much.

  • Problem configure WSDL destination for web services metadata gen and exec

    Hello,
    First question:
    Is WSIL supported by an R/3 4.7 ABAP system?
    If yes I'd like to consume web services from it (Function Modules remote-enabled), through WSIL. I need thus to configure 2 WSDL destinations on the SLD for metadata generation and execution.
    Second question:
    What are the url to fill-in into the destination template configurations?
    Thanks for your input,
    Tanguy Mezzano

    In other words, is it possible to call web services from a R/3 4.7 abap stack with WSIL, thus not through the WSDL. For that we need to set two WSDL destinations in the SLD in section SOAMANAGER.
    Or is this only possible for ECC6.0?
    Thanks for helping.
    Tanguy

  • Web Service metadata

    Hi
    I have  web dynpro app from which I have to consume a web service thru PI.
    I have used the wizard to import the model , and also configured the logical destinations on the server.
    When  I run the application I get the following error :
    Exception on creation of serivce metadata for Ws metadata destination 'nameOfmetadata and WS interface ....
    One possible reason is that the metadata has not been configured correctly.
    for both the execution and metadata I use the same WSDL file.
    Any suggestion?

  • A JSR 172 (Web services) tutorial

    Hi,
    Some mobile phones already include JSR 172 api. There are some tools that already allow the automatic generation of stubs. I have written an article on how to access the API without the use of this tools, maybe somebody will find it useful
    http://mobile.liveshere.net/articles/viewarticle.php?id=15

    I have written a dot net/ c# Web Services doesn't fully work with J2ME client - it too throws the same exception, with the exception text being "Missing SOAP Body or Envelope"

    b) c# web service works with J2ME client - when the Web Service is local
    c) c# web service FAILS with J2ME client - when the Web Service is remote
    error/exception:
    "Missing SOAP Body or Envelope" -- This occurs at the point of invoking the remote Web Service
    Speculation:
    a) dot net Web Services are "different" from Java Web services - yet it works fine in local mode
    b) error is a misnomer & there is some other problem, perhaps fixable thru Web.config changes remotely??
    - changed Web.Config authentication (from Windows to none), but this made no difference
    - changed back to default web service namespace of tempuri.org, but this made no difference

  • "JSR 172 Web Service Timeout"

    I have successfully used JSR172 and Sun's stub generator to access my web services and it works very nicely. The only hitch I see is that if for some reason ( not very likely but I'd like to handle it anyway ) the Blackberry client connects to the service by never receives a response, it appears to hang indefinitely.
    Is there a way to set a time out, since it doesn't seem to fall through normal error trapping
    I suppose I could kill the thread after a certain amount of time but that seems rude and would likely cause other problems
    This is at the point where the JSR172 Invoke api is called.
    thnx in advance...

    Hi,
    Check parameters *icm/server_port_<xx> *
    In my CRM system, I have setup :
    icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=80,TIMEOUT=90,PROCTIMEOUT=600
    The PROCTIMEOUT is the one interesting for you.
    I have set up it to 600 seconds to get the same timeout as with the sapgui.
    Check also rdisp/plugin_auto_logout but it is more useful for the webui than for web services.

  • Problem about using xmlbean as return parameter in workshop 9.2 jsr-181 WS

    Hi
    I met a problem with the jsr-181 web service's return parameters in workshop 9.2.
    I wrote a web service which will return a jax-rpc-style javabean as return parameter. This javabean contained three xmlbean objects fields. So, the client can get those xmlbean objects when invoking the web service.
    But I got the error like the following:
    A java class "..." is being used as a parameter or return type that contains a property of field that is an xmlbean "...", this not allowed.
    Maybe workshop 9.2 does not support xmlbean object as the returned javabean's field. But why, i can use that in the workshop 8.1. why workshop 9.2 does not support them.
    And how can i do if the client want to get the three xmlbean objects when invoking the web service.
    Thanks,
    Xueh

    Hi Xueh
    I got it confirmed from engineering that we do NOT support any use of XmlBeans in a Pojo complex type.
    The workaround is to create a top-level xmlbean type that references the other xmlbean types.
    Thanks
    Vimala
    P.S: There seems to be some complexities involved in mapping a JAX RPC type (POJO) to a XMLBean Type. But we do have a internal bug that is tracking this issue.

  • How to Specify Metadata When Adding Content Using iTunes U Web Service?

    I've been developing Java applications using iTunes U Web service and uploaded content to iTunes U site using iTunes U Web service without problem. Now I want to add metadata fields (name, artist name, album name, etc.) for the tracks I uploaded. It seems to me that "AddTrack" will do. So I tested it but it neither adds a track under the specified group nor updates metadata fields for an existing track. It turned out "MergeTrack" actually updates metadata fields for an existing track. So is there any way to specify metadata at the time of adding content using iTunes U Web service? And what exactly does AddTrack do? This is all about contents hosted by iTunes U site and no RSS is involved.
    I'm referring to the "AddTrack" method in iTunes U Web service:
    http://deimos.apple.com/rsrc/doc/iTunesUAdministrationGuide/iTunesUWebServices/c hapter18_section_21.html#//appleref/doc/uid/AdminGuide-CH13-SW26

    Thanks for all the replies. My question is whether there is any way to specify metadata WHEN adding content using iTunes U Web service. Specifying metadata AFTER adding content can be achieved by MergeTrack (weird naming) and it does work.
    As for setting track level meta-data in the media file and then upload it, there're several reasons against that, among which are:
    1. Some track metadata are context-dependent. A video about buildings on Michigan Ave in Chicago can be track #2 in a history course and described as "historic view of the Magnificent Mile", but the same media can also be track #5 in a landscape design course and described as something like "contemporary architecture". Setting these metadata in the media file itself is not the preferred way to do it since it implies maintaining a version of the same media for any course/group it gets uploaded to.
    2. Setting metadata in a location separate from the media file helps track the metadata change and search for media without digging into the media itself.
    3. If MergeTrack "updates" metadata, there got to be some other method that "creates" metadata - that's what a well-designed API should look like. And setting metadata in the media file is not an equivalent to a "create metadata" method call. In rickwolf's term, that implicit AddTrack should actually be made explicit so the party uploading content can explicitly specify metadata instead of having iTunes U extract metadata from the media.
    It is still not clear what "AddTrack" does exactly, maybe rickwolf is right - it's only relevant to tracks created through RSS.
    So it seems to me there is no other way to specify metadata WHEN adding content using iTunes U Web service than setting metadata in the media file. To me it is more like a design flaw.

  • 2 Java ME Web Service Errors of "Not Compliant with JSR-172"

    This happened when I use Microsoft's ASMX-based WSDL file on a Java ME WS client.
    Say I had a test.asmx WSDL. Then I use NetBeans, and I go to New > Java ME Web Service Client
    I tried to import from running web service, URL "http://www.testhost.com/wspackage/test.asmx?WSDL"
    and then the popup validation error told me "Reference in element is not supported by this version of stub compiler"
    also the X logo error told me "testasmx.wsdl is not compliant with Java ME Web Services specification (JSR-172)"
    I wondered what's going on? Is there any data types not supported by JSR-172? Which is it?
    When I "Validate XML" this ASMX file, it pops this:
    "Error: src-resolve: Cannot resolve the name 's:schema' to a(n) 'element declaration' component."
    The "types" section of my WSDL are like this:

    Hi,
    I'm not able to access the term store. I get an below mentioned error.
    "The Managed Metadata Service or Connection is currently not available. The Application Pool or Managed Metadata Web Service may not have been started. Please Contact your Administrator. "
    Since this is happening on my local machine (Dev environment). I have full control on the term store and the all the site collections.
    Hence, this is not a permission issue.
    I have checked, the Metadata service is active on the machine. All the application pools in IIS is running.
    After reading one of the recommendation on internet, I created a new Managed Metadata Service.
    After which I was able access both (old and new) MMS from Central Admin only (highlight the MMS from manage service applications and click Manage ) and not from the site collection (term store management).
    Now again its not working after I did an IISRESET.
    The managed metadata service (Managed Metadata Service Connection) is grayed out.

    Hi Victoria,
    Thanks for your reply
    I tried making all the changes you had recommended and which are mentioned in the link you have provided.
    I tried making all possible combination of changes to the web.config and client.config files but it does not make any difference to the environment.
    One thing is that, my error in ULS logs has changed.

    In Office 365, Lync Conferences
    Report.
    Field - "TotalConferences" is the number of conferences of all types
    in the reporting period. The sum of other conference type (IM, Audio/video, App
    Sharing, Web, dial-in) count doesn't equal/match the Total Conference count.<o:p></o:p>
    In the attached screen shot for a reporting period.
    IM Conference Count : 197
    Audio/video Conference Count : 67
    Application sharing Conference Count : 68
    Web Conference Count : 10
    Dail-in Conference Count : 5
    The sum of the above conference type is 347. In the report

    That document is pretty old last modified March 2013 so I would say it's out of date. The reporting services are still pretty new in the current release I believe 7 days is limit for the Rest Endpoint and the Get-MessageTrace cmdlet (which is what
    the more recent documentation around message tracking say) there is no REST endpoint for Start-HistoricalSearch you can see all the current endpoints by looking at the Metadata via
    https://reports.office365.com/ecp/reportingwebservice/reporting.svc/$metadata
    These services are evolving so new features and reports are added which is explained in
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/EN-US/library/office/jj984346(v=office.15).aspx . But there is no public information on Timeframes and what reports and features are going to be added in future updates (that I know of). If you need data older then
    7 days then Automating the HistoricalSearch cmdlets would be the way to do it for now.
    Cheers

  • Consuming web services in a jsr 168 portlet best practices.

    I am building portlets (jsr 168 api in Websphere Portal 6.0 using web service client of Rational). Now needed some suggestions on caching the web services data on the portlet. We have a number of portlets (somewhere around 4 or 5) on a portal page which basically rely on a single wsdl Lotus Domino Web Service.
    Is there a way I can cache the data returned by webservice so that I dont make repeated calls to the webservice on every portlet request. Any best practices/ideas on how I could do avoid multiple web service calls would be appreciated ?

    Interestingly, as it often happens with Oracle portal, this has started working without me doing anything special.
    However, the session events my listener gets notified of are (logically, as this portlet works via WSRP) different from user sessions. The problem I'm trying to solve now is that logging off (in SSO) doesn't lead to those sessions being destroyed. They only get destroyed after timeout specified in my web.xml (<session-config><session-timeout>30</session-timeout></session-config>). On the other hand, when they do expire, the SSO session may still be active, in which case the user gets presented with the infamous "could not get markup" error message. The latter is unacceptable in our case, so we had to set session-timeout to a pretty high value.
    So the question is, how can we track when the user logs off. We have found the portal.wwctx_sso_session$ and portal.WWLOG_ACTIVITY_LOG1$ (and ...2$) tables, but no documentation for them. However, the real problem with using those tables is that there's no way we could think of to match the portlet sessions with SSO sessions/actions listed in the tables. (Consider situation when someone logs in from two PCs.)
    Any ideas?

  • JSR 168 portlet based web service throwing an error ......

    Hi All,
    I am quite new to this whole new fusion concept.We are trying to build some web center based applications.
    I have downloaded jdev11g(Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.0.0)technolgy preview version and started following the pdf documentation that comes with it to build the web center based applications.
    As given in the docummentation i have built a JSR 168 Java Portlet through the wizard in Jdeveloper.
    2:Created a java bean to store the portlet information,added some business logic to the portlet.
    3:Deployed the portlet application in the preconfigured OC4J that is shipped with the jdeveloper.
    4:When i test the webservice from within the http analyzer in jdeveloper by invoking the web service i get a response like this:
    <env:Envelope xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"><env:Header/><env:Body><env:Fault>
    <faultcode>env:Server</faultcode>
    <faultstring>no serializer is registered for (interface javax.xml.soap.SOAPElement, {urn:oasis:names:tc:wsrp:v2:types}getPortletPropertyDescriptionResponse)</faultstring><faultactor/></env:Fault></env:Body></env:Envelope>
    5:If i then try to register the WSRP Portlet producer to my deployed application i get the the 500 status error which states that it cannot register the portlet as it could not connect to the host because the application is not deployed correctly or the producer container is not running or that the host is beyond a firewall.
    It cannot be that it cannot connect to the host because of firewall ,the pre configured oc4j is also running which leaves the option of the application not being deployed correctly in the server.!!
    While i try to register the portlet the preconfigured oc4j log displays the error in point 4:
    Any help would be great as i have no clue what went wrong in the deployment because everything is so wizard driven...
    Looking for some urgent help...as we are in the process of building prototypes for the customer!!!

    Hi user,
    I think it best not to use the 11g preview versions anymore. To build WebCenter applications, you should use the last 10g version, which is 10.1.3.4. 11g Production has superseded the preview versions, and in that there is no webcenter support, as everything is now migrated towards weblogic.
    So please try to follow your tutorial in 10g.
